Obama’s Bro Livin’ in Poverty

George Hussein Onyango Obama

UK’s Telegraph reports that Barack Obama’s brother is living in Poverty…

From the article:

Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate’s half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.

“No-one knows who I am,” he told the magazine, before claiming: “I live here on less than a dollar a month.”

and

He told the magazine: “I live like a recluse, no-one knows I exist.”

Embarrassed by his penury, he said that he does not does not mention his famous half-brother in conversation.

“If anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed,” he said.

and

For ten years George Obama lived rough. However he now hopes to try to sort his life out by starting a course at a local technical college.

He has only met his famous older brother twice - once when he was just five and the last time in 2006 when Senator Obama was on a tour of East Africa and visited Nairobi.

The Illinois senator mentions his brother in his autobiography, describing him in just one passing paragraph as a “beautiful boy with a rounded head”.

Of their second meeting, George Obama said: “It was very brief, we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger.”

and

“Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don’t even arrest you they just shoot you.

“I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists.”

Commentary:
It’s incredibly amazing and hypocritical of some in the media that went after Mitt Romney’s Grandfather’s polygamy when we have a presumptive nominee of a major party who’s father was a polygamist and has multitudes of children living in poverty in Africa. Why isn’t Barack taking care of his own destitute family members???

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will be in Michigan on Monday to help celebrate the opening of Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign office in Farmington Hills.

Romney is often mentioned as a possible running mate for McCain. Raised in Bloomfield Hills, Romney is the son of former Michigan Gov. George Romney, and he came back to win the state’s Jan. 15 presidential primary. Political observers have said that Romney could help attract votes in the state, which has become a key battleground in the upcoming election.

The campaign office is located at 31440 Northwestern Hwy., Suite 100 in Farmington Hills. The celebration with Romney begins at 5 p.m. Monday.

Controversy precedes Obama Germany visit

That possible affront to a German head of state, said a Democratic official familiar with the Obama campaign’s deliberations on his visit, made it unlikely Obama would choose the Brandenburg Gate location.

“Obviously Brandenburg is the sexiest option,” the official said

Sexiest? That’s quite an interesting assessment of a historic landmark. Maybe Mr. Obama and his staff are unfamiliar with what went on there…I find the term sexiest to be quite inappropriate, but hey that’s just me.

German Chancellor Merkel’s office argues that allowing Obama to speak before the gate, long a setting for speeches by heads of state, would be tantamount to offering the Democrat the endorsement of the German government.

You tell ‘em Chancellor!

McCain Camp: Obama Needs $200 Million to “Keep Pace”

July 10th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Mitt Romney

True to it’s name, the Grand Old Party is preparing to deliver the knockout punch to Obama’s presidential hopes.

But Democrats should look on the bright side, Obama is young and can make another run for the Rose Garden in 2012. Oh no! I almost forgot, Mitt Romney will most probably be running again in 2012 with off the charts name recognition, a national political network, four years of collecting political IOU’s and with the Republican establishment’s firm backing…..So on second thought, I guess things do look bleak for the Dems!

200-million-to-keep-pace-2008-07-10.html

“Obama has long been considered the better fundraiser by far, and that seems still to be the case.
However, McCain’s totals have increased steadily since he wrapped up the nomination. In addition, the RNC continues to blow its Democratic counterparts out of the water in fundraising, and has $67.8 million.
Despite the widely accepted perception that Obama will raise significantly more than McCain, the McCain campaign sought to dispel that as a “myth” Thursday.
In a memo that accompanied Davis’s conference call with reporters, Davis wrote that “the McCain campaign currently has more resources than the Obama campaign for the battle ahead.”
Davis sought to portray the McCain campaign’s decision to accept public financing as a positive, noting that “the day John McCain becomes our party’s nominee [at the convention], the federal government will deliver a check to our campaign for $84.1 million.”
“This money will be ready for us to spend on day one,” Davis wrote.
Davis said that the public funding — combined with the estimated $110 million the RNC will have “reserved” for ground operations and the State Victory Committees’ $7 million — will leave McCain with about $212 million to spend after the Republican convention, which wraps up in early September.
The Obama campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.”
