Rove: Obama is ‘Same’ not ‘Change’

May 21st, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Karl Rove

Recently, Karl Rove penned ‘Flip-Flops and Governance’ for the Wall Street Journal about Obama.  In it he points out the remarkable continuation of Bush policies now adapted by the Obama Administration.   It all sounded uncannily like The Who song ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ especially the lyric “Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss”.   Staying and Remaining in Iraq & Afghanistan, establishing Gitmo Military Tribunals and Suppressing the release of detainee photos

If Romney wins the 2012 GOP nomination to challenge Obama, it’s looking more likely that Romney wont be the one singled out as a ‘Flip Flopper’ by the Press this time round.  President Obama’s campaign slogan of ‘Change’ has now been replaced by the rhetoric of ‘Same’.

Barack Obama was melodramatic about his drug use.

May 17th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

If you think my post come out of the middle of no where, I’m sorry. I hate the news. I hate the 24-hour news networks. I like the Sunday morning news shows better, because they put the most important things from the week, into one hour. I agree with the following statement:

“To read a newspaper is to refrain from reading something worthwhile. The first discipline of education must therefore be to refuse resolutely to feed the mind with canned chatter.”

So this is kind of out of the middle of no where, but I have been thinking about Mitt Romney and his drug policy vs. Barak Obama and his policy. That led me to the following ideas. What do you think?

(This is a photoshop, just incase you are stupid).

Barack Obama was melodramatic about his drug use.

Reasons to agree:

  1. Obama said, “I got high [to] push questions of who I was out of my mind.” People do things for a lot of reasons. To say that he used drugs for one reason, because he was having problems with his racial identity, seems to be playing the melodramatic race card. I’m not saying that it might have been part of the reason that he used drugs, but to fully blame all his drug use with racial identity problems, like he did in his book, seems a little melodramatic.
  2. Melodrama involves an oversimplified hero. Obama seems to see himself as a hero, in a very simplistic way. He wrote two or three autobiographies about himself, before he was even un unaccomplished senator. Now that he is president, he can write a few autobiogaphies, but he has already written two or three.
  3. Obama goes on and on about how honest he was about drug use. He even went on and on about how he “wasn’t the first president to use drugs, but the first one to be honest about it”. However, if Obama is so honest about his short comings, why did he keep his smoking habit such a secret. And how can the press go on and on about how honest he is and they are, when they never published, and I mean not a single news outlet, published a photo of him with a smoke?
  4. When Obama said, “Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack though” (Dreams from My Father) perhaps he thought he would reach those who had used drugs and convence them to go straight. However he will have reached more straight kids and convinced them to use drugs, by making it sound cool, showing that he was able to beat it, and using their street names, as though he is still trying to have “street cred”.What do you think? Was Obama too self centered with his drug use story? Will heavy drug use go up? Perhaps it will go down. Obama can be a good or bad role model to people in a powerful way. Boys without fathers. Obama was able to beat it… or maybe he never got in far enough.

How about this. Obama ties his drug use with his search for his identity. Bush’s mother started the just say no movement. Republicans are about abstinence. Democrats don’t like the goody-goody, never used drugs image. Steve Jobs said, “I wish him the best, I really do. I just think he and Microsoft are a bit narrow. He’d be a broader guy if he had dropped acid once or gone off to an ashram when he was younger.” So according to Steve Jobs, Bill Gates wouldn’t be so “narrow” if he had “dropped acid”. Was Barack Obama trying to tell people he wasn’t “narrow” when he told the world all about his drug use, but he hides, and the media helps him hide his continued cigarette addiction? Did Obama think it was sexy of him to have used drugs in the past, but he is embarrassed of his continued cigarette addiction? If not, why did he tell the world about the former, and no one knows about the latter?

Some of this may be old news, but I hope I am covering new territory.

Perhaps the important question is what party are we? Obviously, we are Bill Gates. We are not the party tries to glorify dropping acid. And it all goes back to these old battles from the 60s, that just won’t go away. Forget Romney’s Mormonism. It had nothing to do with his church… if Mitt Romney had used drugs in his youth, like Glen Beck, no one would have cared about his Mormonism. Perhaps Romney reminded people of things they don’t want to admit were mistakes. Saying you don’t like people like Romney is an important part of convincing yourself that people like him are narrow.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe you do gain some great insight from dropping acid. Maybe Obama doesn’t think he is really a cool guy because he used to use drugs. Maybe there is a logical explanation why he was “honest” about using drugs in the past, but doesn’t admit his un-politically fashionable current cigarette use.

Of course the “I used to do drugs” thing glamorizes it, but the “I don’t use drugs, made something out of myself, and became president” thing also de-glamorizes it. But that is not my point. I don’t care about the glamorizing drugs thing. I don’t even care about the hypocrisy of Obama saying how honest he was, when it serves his purposes of appealing to people who love to pat themselves on their back by saying how “nuanced” they are. What I really care about is what the whole thing says about Obama, and about the democratic and republican parties.

How many democrats are democrats, even though they want smaller government, but because they think it is cooler to be in a party that embraces nuance, or to put it another way, they are embarrassed of the goody-goody-religious right image of the republican party.

Everyone I know who grew up republican, and religious, when they started experimenting with drugs or Alcohol, they stopped calling themselves religious, and republican.

When Obama was looking for a political party, was their anyone that he could identify with?

Do we want to be the party of Youth? Do we want to be the cool party? What image do we have? I don’t want the Bill Gates Microsoft image, and I don’t want the Steve Jobs Apple image. What about the Mitt Romney image? I think Mitt Romney would make a hell of a president, and do the right things, and make things run more efficient, but what image would he present for our party? Is Mitt Romney cool?

Mitt Romney’s dad was cool. Mitt Romney’s dad was a man’s man, told it like it was, was entertaining, and fun to listen to.

I think if we are going to win in 2012, we have to win the debate, and show how self serving and shallow the democrats are in their immature attempt to be cool.

That shouldn’t be too hard.

All Quiet on the Leftist Front

May 4th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Obama

At the end of the first 100 days of the Obama administration, the left have transformed into a tremendous slumber. But slowly, a few are starting to wake up and sense that the Emperor is still not wearing any clothes.

A few brave souls, have noticed that the driving talking points amongst leftists during dinner & water cooler conversation was digging the claws into the performance of former President Bush.  Under Obama, the trend has gone and one such article of brave criticism of this fact came from the Detroit Free Press LAURA VARON BROWN

Parties were more fun when George W. Bush was president. You could debate, argue even, praise and condemn, throw darts and laurels and solve the world’s problems over a bottle of wine.

No more. At least not in my circles. If you want to stop a conversation in its tracks, just question something President Barack Obama has said or done. It’s not open to debate — and I don’t think that’s healthy, for the country or the president.
It’s especially unsettling for a free speech girl like me. The First Amendment is important — but lately, it feels like my right of self-expression is being squashed.

One example: Obama’s comment to Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show,” comparing his bowling abilities to someone in the Special Olympics.

Can you imagine the uproar had Bush said that? He’d be banished from bowling alleys for eternity. His bowling average and IQ would have immediately been compared in Twitter messages demanding his resignation.

Detroit Free Press LAURA VARON BROWN

One of the great mantras that Obama sprouted, was that he inherited an economic mess from President Bush.  After 100 days, a new administration has fairly taken charge and the captain is most certainly President Obama at the controls. The LA Times also agreed with that, and published this article It’s all on Obama now.

“It is now absolutely his economy,” said Paul Light, a New York University professor who specializes in presidential transitions. “I don’t think that the public will continue to believe that this was all George W. Bush’s doing. And every day that goes by, it becomes more Obama’s than Bush’s.”

Ever since his inauguration, Obama has nurtured the idea that responsibility for grim economic conditions rested with former President Bush. As recently as Wednesday, Obama sought that political cover when it was announced that the economy had shrunk by 6.1% in the first quarter of the year.

Speaking at a town hall meeting near St. Louis, he said: “Now, we’ve got a lot of work to do, because on our first day in office we found challenges of unprecedented size and scope.”

But the events of the last week made Bush seem less relevant, presidential experts and political strategists said. As Obama’s imprint on the economy grows, so does his ownership of the issue.

LA TIMES It’s all on Obama now.

Even comedians are starting to experience a recession of material, ever since Obama stepped into the White House and the ‘Obama Fan Club’ The LA Times are starting to notice.

“If you’re a comedian and you die and go to heaven, Bill Clinton is your president,” said Robert J. Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University. “If you’re a comedian and you die and go to hell, Barack Obama is your president.”

Funny Thing about Obama LA TIMES

There are some Obama sycophants and supporters who feel he is beyond criticism, they do their best to squash any questions over the lack of Emperor attire.   When the left remain mute on criticism directed towards resident Obama, they remove themselves from the political process.  They inadvertently transform themselves into a sad form of self exile, forgetting the freedom of the First Amendment.  They can spot hypocrisy no matter where it resides, and should have plenty to complain about.  No one can keep living in denial forever.

I look forward to the left coming out of their shells and joining the rest of the population once again.  We miss your criticism, we could use it now.

Sack the Teleprompter, Get a Fact Checker

FACT CHECK: Obama’s job, deficit claims are iffy

Obama:  Trust Me

OBAMA: “We began by passing a Recovery Act that has already saved or created over 150,000 jobs.” - from news conference.

THE FACTS: This assertion is dubious on several levels. For starters, the U.S. has lost more than 1.2 million jobs since Obama took office, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even if Obama’s stimulus bill saved or created as many jobs as he says, that number is dwarfed by the number of recent job losses.

But Obama’s number is murky, at best. The White House has not yet announced how it intends to count jobs created by the stimulus bill. Obama’s number is based on a job-counting formula that his economists have developed but have not made public. Until that formula is announced - probably in the coming week or so - there’s no way to assess its accuracy.

Whatever the formula, economists who study job creation say it will require some creative math. That’s because Obama has lumped “jobs saved” in with “jobs created.” Even economists for organizations that stand to benefit from the stimulus concede it probably is impossible to estimate saved jobs because that would require calculating a hypothetical: how many people would have lost their jobs without the stimulus.

AUDIO EXCERPT: OBAMA SPEECH TO CIA (April 20th 2009)

Langley, Virginia 4:02PM EST
President Obama has just addressed the CIA Headquarters Langley VA. In his speech (Audio Provided) he spends the time justifying why the “Top Secret” integration memos were released. Obama also explained why the CIA integration methods have been discontinued under his watch. In short, Obama told the CIA is now poised to kill them with ‘Kindness’. Someone needs to remind Obama that our enemy didn’t play by the same rules when Nick Berg had his head cut off.

The coming battle with Obama in 2012

April 16th, 2009 | 4 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

I am glad that former Romney supporters have this site and that we can comment on whatever is currently happening in politics (like the Tea Parties, and even the pirates). I think it is important that we write about whatever interest us, and that we continue to network in preparation for 2012.

However, we do not know if Romney will be running for president in 2012. We do know one person who will be running: Barack Obama.

I agree with Romney when he said; “[Obama] will not always be wrong, and he’s done some things I agree with.” In fact, I am going to be spending the next few years outlining when I agree with Obama (so that we can get those problems fixed) and when I disagree with Obama, so that we can try to win the argument when he is wrong.

In 2008, the democrats had 8 years to prepare all the reasons to disagree with Bush. They had a very ugly and stupid Bush derangement syndrome. We do not want to play into the hands of the media, and become just the angry part. Anger is fine, when we back it up with good reason, logic, and coherent arguments.

In order to prepair for 2012 all of our Romney websites should have all the reasons why Obama is wrong, so that when Palin, Romney, Jindal, or whoever runs for president, we can already have high ranking blog post that outline the bad things Obama is trying to do, and what makes them bad.

We should also do like Romney said, and focus on those areas that we agree with Obama, so that we are not labeled the “just say no party”, so that we can actually get some things done, and so we can stay the party of ideas, principles, reasons, and logic.

We need to get things done when we agree with Obama, so we can fix those problems, put these issues behind us and get back to the debate! :)

In order to do this I imported my Romney blog into a “Reason to agree and disagree with Obama” blog, because I don’t think Romney is going to get as much news media as Obama will in the next 4 years. Talking about Romney for the next 4 years will not have as much material as talking about Obama. So let’s not waste our time. Let’s make our arguments. Let’s organize ourselves. Not with anger, but with reason.

So please check out my Obama blog when you get a chance. Here is the address:

http://r2aadwo.blogspot.com/

ComMITTed to Romney has always been the biggest source of people to my site, and I am very grateful Ann lets me blog here. If I ever think of anything profound on my site, I will cross post it on here also.

2012 can’t get here fast enough.

Click here to see all the times I think Obama is right, and here to see all the post when I think he is wrong. For any of the post, leave a comment, and I’ll add your reasons to the post itself.

The Military or How I Stopped Worrying About Iraq and Staged a Photo Op.

April 12th, 2009 | 6 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

Staged Obama Photo

When Obama made a surprise visit to Iraq, he was greeted by the troops falling over themselves with digital cameras.  Now reports are surfacing this was a staged event.

Macmind, reports  (we) Got this email from a sergeant that was there.

“We were pre-screened, asked by officials “Who voted for Obama?”, and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.”

Was Obama trying not to avoid the silent treatment Marines gave him at Camp LeJeune in late February?

No Preemptive Pardons on Interrogation

January 18th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

Even as President Bush enters his last nights in the White House, and even in the middle of an economic crisis that could take years to recover from, Democrats are showing no signs of abandoning their favorite punching bag in the form of the sitting President. Despite having kept us safe for the past seven years - an accomplishment many thought impossible on September 11th, Democrats are still looking into the possibility of prosecuting government officials who may have engaged in enhanced interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding. Even Spkr. Nancy Pelosi has expressed a willingness to prosecute members of the Justice Department. This development, combined with the testimony of Eric Holder, has led to calls for President Bush to use his authority to issue preemptive pardons to prevent attempted prosecution by the Democrats.

But such pardons would be a mistake for the Republican party, and could not only protect the Democrats from their most liberal members and a damaging internal fight, but could deprive the GOP of its biggest political opportunity since the disaster that was HillaryCare. Should Democrats attempt to prosecute, or even investigate, terrorist interrogations, it would open the party to extremely damaging criticism on numerous fronts. Perhaps the most obvious criticism would be that the Democrats were more concerned with protecting terrorists from harsher interrogation methods than they were with protecting American lives, but several other avenues of criticism exist - relating to Democratic priorities, their dedication to American security, and the time and costs involved in an investigation in the middle of an economic crisis.

If Obama wants to issue a preemptive pardon for those involved in terrorist interrogation, than he is more than capable of doing that, otherwise, the liberals in the Congress should be allowed to pursue whatever avenue they choose, and free to suffer the consequences of that choice.

2008 Electoral College Prediction

November 2nd, 2008 | 11 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

With just two days left until most Americans vote, we are getting in the final round of polling for individual states, and its time for predictions to be made. There are still a somewhat surprising number of undecideds, but I believe that things are stable enough for me to issue a final prediction, and that prediction is that Barack Obama will be elected President with at least 291 electoral votes, with an upper estimate of 311. That leaves John McCain with either 227 or 247 votes. I do not believe that Obama will win a massive, 350+ vote landslide as polls at one point showed he might, nor do I believe that John McCain will be able to recover the ground he has lost to be able to claim victory.

Here is what I believe the map will look like Wednesday morning:

Barack Obama should hold all of the 2004 Blue states, and pick up New Mexico, Iowa, Colorado, Virginia, and Nevada. Ohio remains a toss up, though, unlike past elections, I do not believe holding Ohio will be enough to save the Republican nominee.

Senate: Democrats advance to 56, but fall short of the needed 60. Lieberman may very well change his affiliation.
