McCain’s Experience Shows Through

The events of the last week have shown once again the stark contrast between the two Presidential candidates and their respective understandings of geopolitics.

Barack Obama; weak, indecisive, appeasing, dangerously naive.

John McCain; strong in his defense of a small democracy yearning to be free of the brutal domination of their totalitarian neighbor, experienced in the ways of the world, with up close and personal observations of the dangers of Communism.

I can only hope that voters are paying at least some attention to the very different responses that have come from the Obama and the McCain campaigns and will remember in November as they step into the booth to cast their votes for the next Commander-in-chief.

Election ‘08: Russia’s brutal invasion of Georgia caught America off guard. But it did give voters an idea of what to expect from a President McCain or a President Obama, and right now the differences are stark.

John McCain understood just what was happening and called it right on the first shot.

“Russian military forces crossed an internationally recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia,” he said as the news broke. “The very existence of independent Georgia — and the survival of democratically elected government — are at stake.”

He was blasted by pundits as being too extreme, but events now show he was right. McCain grasped the regional implications, too.

“Russia has used violence against Georgia to send a signal to any country that chooses to associate with the West and aspire to our shared political and economic values,” he said.

Mitt Romney Speaks Out On Obama’s “Frightening Naivete”

July 14th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Barack Obama, Jihadist, Mitt Romney, War

If we had pursued Obama’s advise to treat global Jihad as a law enforcement matter and had issued a subpoena for Osama Bin Laden to give a deposition to a U.S. Court concerning his possible involvement in the the destruction of the World Trade Center towers, I just wonder if we could have heard him laughing at us from atop whatever mountaintop cave he has been hiding in?

Barack Obama’s approach to the war on terror shows “frightening naiveté,” says Mitt Romney.

“Even the peaceniks of the last decade have recognized that the pre-911 thinking of the early 1990s was wrong,” Romney says. “The great majority of those who opposed the conflict in Iraq nevertheless recognize that it is a war against a radical, violent Islam. But Barack is one of the few who has still refused to speak out against radical violent Islam and jihadism.”

To suggest, as Obama has, that the way to deal with terrorists is to prosecute them “bespeaks a remarkable lack of understandingat which we face,” Romney says.

Murtha Lied, Obama Sighed

June 23rd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Barack Obama, Congress, Democrats, Freedom, Iraq, War

It’s stories like the one below that make me a Republican. Even with all our faults, we don’t come close to the level of hypocrisy that the Democratic Party achieves on a regular basis.

The disgraceful hounding of eight Marines, serving their country under life and death circumstances, by the craven Congressman Murtha, as a purely partisan political ploy in the 2006 election, is another reason why I will NEVER vote for a Democrat.

Any party that will sink this low to keep their shameful and now disgraced organization in power, deserves the unmitigated contempt of the American electorate.

Justice: The latest Haditha Marine to be exonerated is considering suing Rep. John Murtha for calling him a cold-blooded killer. Will Barack Obama be a character witness for saying Murtha knows his stuff?

If you hadn’t heard, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani is the seventh of the Haditha 8 to either be acquitted or have charges dismissed regarding the deaths of civilians in the town of Haditha, Iraq, on Nov. 19, 2005.

Mainstream media and liberal Democrats, if that’s not redundant, are more preoccupied these days with protecting the rights of terrorists, even Osama bin Laden, to habeas corpus and other rights of U.S. citizens they were trying to kill. That has replaced Abu Ghraib and Gitmo as their cause celebre.

Now that Haditha hasn’t turned out to be the Iraqi My Lai they hoped for, they have no time for the innocent Marines, either to comment or apologize. The Los Angeles Times, during a slow period in the barrage of charges, asked in a headline, “Whatever Happened To The Iraqi My Lai?”

Well, the crime never happened, the guilty were found innocent and the lynch mobs dispersed.

Only One Choice in Face of Nuclear Terror

June 8th, 2008 | 12 Comments | Posted in Barack Obama, IBD Editorial, Iraq, Israel, John McCain, War

I just came across this brief editorial by one of my favorite writers, the immensely talented Dr. Thomas Sowell. What he had to say was grim…….and timely. If you have been following the fighting between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah, you know that Iran has no scruples about giving missiles and other armaments to people who use them against innocent civilians. We also know that our military personnel in Iraq are being killed and maimed by IED’s provided by Iran.

So, it should come as no surprise that the Mullahs of Iran will with hold no good thing in their soon to be developed nuclear arsenal from terrorists bent on destroying first Israel and then the United States of America.

Please take the time to read this article so that you will have this information as you prepare to cast your vote in the Presidential elections.

By: Dr. Thomas Sowell

Our one window of opportunity to prevent this will occur within the term of whoever becomes president of the United States in 2009.

At a time like this, we don’t have the luxury of waiting for our ideal candidate or of indulging our emotions by voting for a third party candidate to show our displeasure — at the cost of putting someone in the White House who isn’t up to the job.

Sen. John McCain has been criticized in this column many times. But, when all is said and done, he has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America.

On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting our enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him. The choice between him and Barack Obama should be a no-brainer.

United States Military Academy Graduation Class of 2008

May 31st, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in U.S. Army, War

Congratulations to the outstanding men and women of the United States Military Academy who just received their 2nd Lieutenant bars at a beautiful and moving ceremony at West Point.

We watched the ceremony over the Academy’s website and it was very impressive, start to finish.

My son, Patrick, flew to New York this past Wednesday evening to attend the event with his close friend and former football teammate who is now 2nd Lieutenant Clint Wing.

Clint’s family picked him up at the airport and then drove up to the beautiful Hudson Valley. They all attended a banquet that evening with the top brass in attendance.

One of Clint’s friends is getting married at a chapel on the Academy grounds and Pat and Clint will be going to his wedding ceremony this afternoon.

Kudos to Clint and all his accomplished classmates. We should all feel very proud to have our country represented by such fine young men and women.

Clint is going to Fort Riley where he will receive additional training as a tank commander before shipping out to the Middle East. Please keep Clint and all our service personnel in your thoughts and in your prayers.

Surge To Victory

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, May 27, 2008 4:20 PM PT

War On Terror: They said the surge would fail. They claimed we had no allies. They called Iraq a quagmire. They sought to cut and run. Now, our victories over terror are accelerating across the world.

I love this quote from the end of the article: IT’S A BAD TIME TO BE A TERRORIST.

Best Wishes to All Our Military Families on Memorial Day

Here’s wishing all of our service personnel a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Thank you for your selfless service to your country. Thanks also to your families who support your service by their prayers and unheralded sacrifices. Godspeed to all of you and may you return home safe and sound!

“Duty, Honor, Country” — those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn.

Introducing Jeff Beatty For US Senator In Massachusetts

In keeping with my earlier post titled: “Participatory Democracy”, I would like to give everybody a heads up on a former US Delta Force member who is running for John Kerry’s Senate seat in Massachusetts. I know very little about him, but what I do know is impressive. He sounds like the kind of man we would like to see in the Senate.

In my previous post, I said that it is our responsibility to do everything we can to promote the candidacies of conservative Republicans as we head into the general election. We have all seen Gov. Romney doing his part to raise funds for the Party and to help elect a Republican majority. I am writing this to encourage all of our readers and contributors to help play a part in rebuilding the Party as well.

I have included some quotes from Mr. Beatty’s website (referenced below) and he impresses me as the kind of candidate who has the military and national security bona fides to help move the country back from the leftward tilt we have experienced the last several years.

I’m going to get up to speed as quickly as I can on his positions on the issues and I’ll be sharing the information here as quickly as possible. In the meantime, click on over to his website and also check out the YouTube interviews as well as the YouTube endorsement by a man I highly respect, Col. Dave Hunt (Fox News Contributor) and himself a national security expert.

Senate Candidate Jeff Beatty calls John Kerry a Hypocrite

March 18, 2008

Kerry accuses others of using troops as political props, when he himself has used service men and women to fuel his own ambition in the past.

Boston, March 18—U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Beatty, a Republican, is calling on Democrat John Kerry to match his rhetoric with deeds regarding our troops and veterans. Beatty points to Kerry’s Monday appearance on the Don Imus radio program where the junior Senator criticized the use of our troops as “props” for photographs. Beatty says this yet again provides proof of the Senator’s hypocrisy.

“History is repeating itself,” said Beatty, a former Delta Force officer. “Kerry has a long record of denigrating our armed services and now exploits them for his own political gain.”
On Kerry’s accusations through Imus, Beatty contends that “Kerry continues to use our troops to boost his political fortunes; it is Kerry who has exploited and degraded two generations of veterans—including our troops currently serving on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

VIETNAM GENERATION

Kerry served as spokesman before the “Winter Soldier Investigation,” testifying before the Senate foreign relations committee and recounting the testimonies of alleged atrocities committed by American soldiers:
“They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan.” [1]

There was no evidence to substantiate the allegations, yet no charges were ever filed to confirm or contradict his testimony[2]

Kerry exploited unfounded sensational allegations about American service members in order to gain national TV exposure in 1971 and help launch his political career. Today, the North Vietnamese honor Kerry’s role in their victory in their War Museum.

TODAY’S GENERATION

Beatty is adamant that “Kerry voted to send our troops to war in Iraq, because it served his 2004 Presidential ambition,” and that “now, despite urging the President to cut and run from Iraq, Kerry continues to use our troops and our veterans for his own political purposes. He is making the rounds of troops in the field and veteran centers at home posing for photos and using our veterans and troops as “props” in another example of his incredible hypocrisy.”
“In spite of Kerry’s efforts, the hard work of service men and women is prevailing. We are now winning in Iraq,” says Beatty. “Yet Kerry persists in pursuing tactics that weaken our efforts, not strengthen them. Is Kerry going to be honored with another plaque like he was from the North Vietnamese, but this time from Bin Laden and Al Qaeda?” Beatty asks. “It’s time to replace John Kerry with one of us.”

Jeff Beatty is a Candidate for the US Senate who can be found at www.jeffbeatty.com. Beatty is a small businessman (founder of www.totalsecurity.us) who previously served in The Delta Force where he received a Purple Heart while helping rescue hundreds of Americans. He also served as a Special Agent of the FBI, advising the national Hostage Rescue Team and as a CIA Counter-terrorism Officer running successful operations in Europe and the Middle East.

More wars

February 3rd, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in McCain, War

“It’s a tough war we’re in. It’s not going to be over right away. There’s going to be other wars.” Offering more of his increasingly bleak “straight talk,” he repeated the claim: “I’m sorry to tell you, there’s going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars.”

- John McCain, February 3rd 2008

I would love a commercial by Mitt Romney saying that he is going to do the same thing that Bush did, and try every diplomatic option with-in reason, and that it is irresponsible to say “there will be more wars”. This goes to the heart of why I don’t want to vote for John McCain. He is not putting forth an intelligent argument trying to predict that there will be more wars; he is trying to position himself as the know-it all tough-guy. “Yep, there is going to be more wars, but don’t you worry there little missy, I’ll take care of you.”

David Petraeus doesn’t say, “there are going to be more wars.” President Bush doesn’t say, “there are going to be more wars”. The Defense Department and State Department don’t tell us there are going to be more wars. But John McCain knows more than them all put together. Do you see what a train wreck this is going to be? John McCain has spent 25 years in congress out positioning people politically. Saying the right thing to get elected. If he wins he will go from having a staff of 2 to 6 people, to running the largest organization on the planet. His job will be to collect the brightest people on the planet and trying to prevent more wars. That’s what he is going to do right?

Right?
