ROMNEY STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN
BOSTON. . . Governor Romney today issued the following statement on John McCain’s selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate:
“Governor Palin’s story is one that all Americans will find inspiring. She’s a Washington outsider with a commitment to the conservative principles that will make our nation stronger. I look forward to campaigning for Senator McCain, Governor Palin and Republicans all across the country.”

Ya know, McCain put out this video last night specifically to highlight the historic nature of Obama’s nomination:
So, what does Obama do upon McCain’s decision to choose Sarah Palin as his VP Nominee…
“the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
Obama is such a weasel. He can’t even give a civil response. I’m gonna be fighting HARD to ensure he doesn’t get elected President.

While I love Mitt Romney, I am very happy with this choice…A conservative woman, and a mother of a special needs child to boot (that means a whole lot to a person like me).

Drudge Gets It, But Then Again Sometimes He Doesn’t…August 29th, 2008 | 78 Comments | Posted in Announcement, Barack Obama, Drudge, John McCain, Matt Drudge, Mitt Romney, VP, Veepstakes

Remember those Obama/Bayh Bumper Stickers, now Pawlenty getting all this publicity. Now I don’t know who in the world McCain is picking for VP nor have I ever espoused telepathic abilities in that area, but this fawning over what Drudge thinks I think is going a bit over the top. Sure he’s right on a lot of stories, but there are just as many that he gets wrong. So, lets just stay calm everyone. If Romney gets it WONDERFUL, but if he doesn’t…he doesn’t. This speculation is just that. We’ll know when we’re supposed to know.
Just a bit of commentary for what it’s worth.

Is that a Presidential Seal that I see in the background on that fireplace?

And John McCain is out of touch with “real” Americans?
U.S. Secret Service On Way to Biden’s House! |
I feel like I am working the “graveyard shift” in a newsroom, fueled by cigarettes and coffee. The news stories are coming in so fast and the speculation is so rampant. We’ll all need a vacation after the Veepstakes and the Conventions are over! Whew.

U.S. Secret Service on Way to Biden’s House; Kaine and Bayh Told Nope on Veep

The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.
Sources also tell ABC News that two others said to be finalists for the position of Obama’s running mate — Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine — have been told they have not been selected to be Obama’s running mate.
Pro-Huckabee Activists to Dissuade McCain on Romney Ticket |
There are a boatload of these stories circulating through the MSM and the blogosphere the last couple of days and they sound remarkably alike. Am I getting cynical, or do you think someone has released talking points to the usual suspects?

Supporters of former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will meet with presumptive Republican nominee John McCain on Wednesday to persuade him not to name former campaign rival Mitt Romney as his running mate.
McCain is tentatively scheduled to meet with about 10 social conservative activists and religious leaders from Michigan, according to The Detroit News. Another group of about 40 Huckabee supporters will meet separately with a McCain campaign liaison, said Debra Matney, a Huckabee supporter who is helping to organize the meeting.
Leah Yoon, a McCain campaign spokeswoman, confirmed that the Republican candidate plans to meet with “grass-roots and faith-based leaders” during his visit to Michigan on Wednesday.
McCain’s vice presidential pick is expected to be a major point of discussion at both meetings.Although McCain has remained tight-lipped on his vice presidential selection process, insiders say Romney is among the short list for the position.
But Matney said the Michigan activists and religious leaders want Huckabee to be on the ticket, but if that is not possible, then they want Romney not to be on it.
Romney, a Michigan native, was popular among conservatives earlier in the primaries. But then Huckabee became the favorite for conservative voters given his consistent record of conservative stances, [ Editor’s Note: ??? ] his ability to weave biblical references into speeches and his deadpan sense of humor.
Could the Olympics Boost Romney’s VP Chances?August 7th, 2008 | 31 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney, Olympics, Presidential Politics, Presidential Race, Republicans, Veepstakes

Mitt Romney’s turnaround of the Winter Olympics in 2002 that were held a few months after the 911 attacks is one of his biggest successes in a lifetime of achievement. Mitt’s presence at the Summer Olympics can only remind Americans of his skills at organizing a large group of people in a common endeavor. It will be very interesting to see what effect all this has on the VP selection process.

As voters turn their attention away from the presidential race and towards Beijing for this year’s Olympics, former Republican Gov. Mitt Romney could stand to benefit the most from the games politically.
Romney, who was the president and CEO of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, will be visiting the Olympics this year. He will be leaving on Thursday and, according to his spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom, plans to attend the games only as a spectator.
With vice presidential speculation in full swing, however, any appearances by Romney during the Olympic broadcasts could raise his profile to the Olympics’ wide national audience, said Michael Shea, a Boston Democratic political strategist.
