Salt Lake Tribune Article on Tonight’s Debate.

Thomas Burr of The Salt Lake Tribune pens an article today titled, “Romney’s religion won’t be spared in YouTube debate”.

As I read though the article one of the questions made me absolutely laugh…

Another question, from Spartanburg, N.C., noted that Mormons give a certain percentage of their income in tithing to the LDS Church, and asks whether Romney would do that if elected president.

“Now there’s a conflict of interest there if you are elected president; that means that taxpayer dollars will go to the Mormon Church by people that didn’t vote for you,” Mike said in his question. “What do you think about that?”

The Tribune went on to say…

Romney, who has a personal fortune worth an estimated $350 million, has already said that he would not take the $400,000 annual salary if he is elected president.

There are two things that I’d like to say about this question. One, when the President is paid, it’s his (or her) money and they can do with it what they want. It’s not tax dollars going to whatever organization the President spends the money on. That’s about as idiotic as saying that because teachers get a salary from the state, and a teacher smokes that the state is funding the tobacco industry. This is absolute LUNACY. Next, as the Tribune stated Governor Romney has already stated that when he is elected President that his entire salary will go to charity and that he will not get paid, just like his job as Governor before and his job as SLOC CEO before that.

I can’t wait for Governor Romney to get asked a stupid question, and then have him hit it out of the ballpark :)

Don’t forget to watch tonight…I’ll set up the chatroom again, and we can all discuss it while it’s happening…
