What Republicans Need to Know before they vote!

I just received this email from Trent Christensen. He is saying what the MSM will NEVER say. They will never admit that John “Open Borders” McCain is a paper tiger and even with the help of tens of millions of dollars in free publicity, Mitt Romney is still in McCain’s rear view mirror and getting ready to pass him on the right!

With the fawning, adoring press shamelessly promoting this liberal Democrat, and attacking Mitt Romney 24/7/365, McCain should be leading by 30% points. It is a testament to Romney’s bulldog tenacity and to his supporters competence that he has been able to endure the withering assaults of the press, the Democrats, the entrenched Washington bureaucrats and some members of his own party and is still, despite it all, fighting the good fight and doing so with good humor and enthusiasm.

Please feel free to send this to all your friends and family members and to use it as a “talking points memo” as you make your rounds this weekend.

Subject: What Republicans need to know before they vote! (PLEASE FORWARD)

Dear Fellow Romney Supporters,

We have heard a lot of feedback from Romney supporters all over the country that feel like they are not getting the real picture about Governor Romney’s chances of winning the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Many people say that the information they do receive always paints a picture of Governor Romney as losing this race. You are entitled to know how Governor Romney is truly doing in this race. PLEASE FORWARD this information on to friends and family and help get the word out about the truth about Governor Romney’s campaign!

The TRUTH is this: Governor Romney CAN and SHOULD win the Republican nomination for President of the United States. This is a two-man race between Governor Romney and John McCain and Governor Romney is literally only a few points/delegates behind! Senator McCain would like everyone to believe that somehow Governor Romney is too far behind to ever catch up. That is NOT true. We need to rally behind Governor Romney, because only a slight increase in support among conservatives is all that’s needed to tip the scales in favor of Governor Romney and conservative change!

People shouldn’t think that McCain has this rapped up. They need to understand the tremendous support that Governor Romney already has. Consider the following:

1) Governor Romney has led for most of this race and is still positioned well to win the nomination! Until recently Governor Romney has handily led the delegate count. Though he is currently in second place in the delegate count since the Florida Primary, by CNN’s count Governor Romney has 6% of the support he needs to win and John McCain ONLY HAS 8%. Translation = Governor Romney is not trailing far behind; in reality, he is right on McCain’s heels and is well-positioned to succeed in the upcoming primaries because he is the true conservative.

2) Governor Romney is the True Conservative in this race. Governor Romney supported the Bush Tax Cuts and supports making them permanent, he supports appointing conservative judges and justices like John Roberts and Samuel Alito, and he will confront and defeat radical Islamic Jihad, end our energy dependence on foreign oil, curb federal spending, and sustain traditional American values. But don’t just take my word for it.

3) True conservative thinkers all support Governor Romney. For a small sampling, consider the following sources:
- Michael Reagan, son of President Ronald Reagan:
http://www.townhall.com/Columnists/MichaelReagan/2008/01/31/john_mccain_hates_me

- Mark Levin:
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NDEzMDYzZjBkMDNhYjk0ZjdhZmJlZWNkMWQ1NjI4MGI=

- Sean Hannity: “I’ll tell you right now, and I’ve not announced this, but I will be voting for Mitt Romney in this campaign. It’s the first time I’ve stated it publicly. I’ll state it now.” (”Sean Hannity Radio Show,” 1/31/08.)

- Laura Ingraham: “All right, I’m going to see your endorsement and raise you an announcement: February 12th is the big D.C. primary, I’m pulling the lever for Mitt Romney. No doubt about it. No hesitation.” (”The Laura Ingraham Show,” 2/1/08)

- Lars Larson: “It’s time for the GOP to pick a real Republican standard bearer. I’ve been keeping my powder dry on this question for months till I had the chance to talk to all of the potential nominees. I’ve done that now, and I’m left with only one conclusion. Governor Mitt Romney is the best choice for 2008.” (”The Lars Larson Show,” 2/1/08)

4) Governor Romney has National Support: Listed at the bottom of this email are just some of the additional names of the endorsements of Governor Romney from elected officials, national figures and several publications and newspapers. (Feel free to add yours as well when you forward this on!)

5) Governor Romney has tremendous financial support, from people just like you. Not including ANY of Governor Romney’s personal contributions to his campaign, Governor Romney’s campaign has raised more money than any candidate in the history of the Republican Party! He has raised roughly $20 million more than John McCain thus far. And that financial support remains strong; in fact, the day after placing second in the New Hampshire primary—what some were calling a “big loss” to McCain—Governor Romney held a fundraiser and raised $5 million in one day. By comparison, the democrat winner in NH, Hillary Clinton, also held a fundraiser that day and raised only $700,000. This relates directly to his ability to stay the course and beat the Democrat nominee in November.

6) Governor Romney is the most electable Republican because he can fight the fight. I just mentioned money raised. Money will mean a lot in the coming months! John McCain is currently spending as much money as he brings in and is $4.5 million in debt. The Democrats have raised hundreds of millions of dollars and if Senator McCain becomes the nominee, he will have no money with which to compete with the Democrats. The Democrats will bury him with the sheer size of their war chests. He CANNOT compete with them financially.

7) Senator McCain CANNOT beat the Democrats. You cannot beat the Democrats by acting like a Democrat. John McCain has sided with the Democrats on issues from supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants, attacking the 1st Amendment with campaign finance reform, opposing drilling for oil in ANWR to reduce our reliance on foreign oil, and he voted TWICE against the Bush tax cuts. John McCain was reported to have considered running as John Kerry’s running mate in 2004. You can’t beat Democrats at their game, you need someone who talks AND acts like a true Republican leader. That is clearly not John McCain; that person is Governor Romney.

We need to unite NOW behind Governor Romney. People ought not to vote for John McCain simply because they aren’t given all the information about how strong Governor Romney is as a candidate. PLEASE FORWARD this on so that those who believe in having a strong military, and a strong economy, and strong families know that Governor Romney CAN win this election.

Governor Romney is as strong as ever in this race. And with all of us united behind true conservative principles, Governor Romney WILL win. Please forward this email on and vote for Governor Mitt Romney.

Best regards,

Trent

Why We Need Governor Romney’s Immigration Plan — NOW & ABOVE ALL OTHERS!

January 25th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in 2008, Illegal Immigration, Immigration, Mitt Romney, Tancredo

Flag Waving

Have you ever wondered how important it is to have a solid immigration plan? Have you ever given any thought to the impact to America that the roughly 20 million illegal aliens will have over time?

Watch this clip. There is no exaggeration here.

There are reasons why we need Governor Romney’s immigration plan and NOT McCain’s or Giuliani’s. There are many reasons Tancredo strongly endorsed Gov. Romney and his immigration plan.

This clip will give you some ideas.

Since this clip has been viewed 1,547,426 times, some of you may have already seen it. I had seen it before. It was sent to me as a reminder by a good friend (THANK YOU!). To those of us who live within minutes of the border with Mexico, this issue matters a lot.

We must go past Michigan with the good fight

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’ve been watching this campaign fight intensely. Usually when I find something to post on, my friends here beat me to the punch, and I applaud their great work. Let me start off in my typical style of eliciting flaming comments at me, I do this as a staunch supporter of Mitt Romney:

Romney will likely not win Michigan. We must accept this and move on, because he can still win the prize.

Why is the firewall we call Michigan most likely lost?

Why shouldn’t Mitt win Michigan? He grew up there and called it home and George Romney was a great multi-term governor. Why may he not win? Michigan is an open primary which means independents and democrats can vote in the Republican primary, just like New Hampshire. Why would a democrat vote in the GOP primary? Because Michigan lost all it’s democratic delegates in shifting up it’s primary date. Only Hillary Clinton remains on the ballot for democrats, thus she is a shoe in. So what will independents do on Jan 15th? They will vote for McCain and some for Romney. We’ve seen tonight how some of them tend to vote. Who would democrats vote for in the GOP primary? Huckabee. He has the least amount of money and they want to face him as the easy candidate to beat in the general. Thus, there will be a piling on affect in the Michigan primary of independents for McCain and democrats for Huckabee and Romney will have an uphill battle. I pray I’m wrong and will gladly eat crow if I am. Is all lost? No. We can work to get the numbers out in Michigan, but we must work hard and press on, and not be discouraged if it’s lost.

Is all lost with Michigan?

No! No! No! Fox News be slammed for saying so. It’s just not true. There is no GOP front-runner in the true meaning of the term. We have good candidates which are fracturing the vote. I know many have written off Giuliani, but he has just started his national advertising. I believe that this contest is all about delegates and very little about momentum. Momentum got Huckabee a low third place finish just above Giuliani. Wyoming created no momentum, but it gave Romney more delegates than New Hampshire gave McCain. It’s time to play the GOP battle for delegates and forget about momentum, the compressed schedule just doesn’t allow for it, neither does the long haul with so many viable candidates. In my opinion, this fight goes on way past Feb 5th and possibly on to a brokered convention on Sept 1st, but even if the nominee is determined before the convention, it won’t be over on Feb 5th. Huckabee, McCain and Giuliani (after Feb 5th) will be competing with Romney’s continual strong 2nd place showings which have netted him many early delegates. Don’t count out the potential strong Feb 5th showing of Romney either, he will likely win more than four states (I include my home state of Colorado as Tancredo has endorsed Romney and we saw the success of the Olympics in Utah). These states will net him over 100 delegates which is formidable when combined with his current 30. That will place Romney in a close second if Giuliani is able to pull out the wins he is expecting after Feb 5th. We could see Giuliani’s 153 delegates to Romney’s 130 delegates and the race goes on well past the 5th.

What about Florida and South Carolina?

These are two states that Romney is not in a strong second place and could hurt him on the delegate count. That is true, but remember these states have half their delegates removed by the RNC for breaking primary date rules. Yet, can’t the GOP nominee restore all the delegates to those states? Yes, but will we have a nominee? Sounds like a chicken and the egg problem to me in restoring those delegates. This will be the case if a rare brokered convention occurs.

This is one amazing race to the GOP nomination! Romney has a chance to win things even with Michigan going down in a horrible independent and democrat smear of our primary. We need to keep our chins up and fight through to the end, especially when the media (and Fox News for that matter) declare the end every weekend from now until the summer.

Strong Support For Romney In St. Louis Straw Poll

I spent this past Saturday and Sunday morning at the Presidential endorsing convention of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies.

My own estimate of the crowd is about 600-700 delegates from around the country.

I was fortunate to get to meet and speak with some of the leading personalities attending the event. Among them were former Majority Leader, Congressman Tom Delay (a very gracious person), the Secretary of the California Republican Assembly, Gwen Dyrud, John Putnam, State Director of the Missouri Fair Tax organization, Janet Renner, Founder of Missourians Against Illegal Immigration, a staff member from Rod Jetton’s office (who was very enthusiastic in his support for Mitt Romney), three staffers from the conservative website VANGUARD.ORG, which I understand has been around for about a year and is currently under construction and several others whose names I was not able to get.

By the way the, VANQUARD.ORG site is touted as some real competition to the liberal site and George Soros surrogate, MoveOn.org.

This weekend was the most fun that I have had at a political meeting in a long time. I entered the air-conditioned tent where they had closed circuit coverage of the speakers as well as space for the vendors and the political booths. I literally was not in the tent 60 seconds before the first of many conversations that day started. The first people I spoke with were two very well informed women from Missourians Against Illegal Immigration. They were also Tom Tancredo supporters. We quickly found out that we were very much in sync with each other on the issues. Their hot button, was, of course, the Immigration issue. What struck me was the perception of both of them that MR was not very strong on immigration. I asked them a few more questions and directed them to this site. I said that one of my more recent posts dealt with the subject and that a 30 second Romney ad that is airing in Iowa concentrated on securing the border. Their reaction was very moving. They had not realized what Romney was saying about illegals in this country and they became very elated by the fact that a top-tier candidate was carrying their banner. I don’t mean to be presumptuous, but I think we just may have won two more backers.

From there, I spoke with two members of the Fair Tax organization. I told them from the outset that I was not familiar with the subject at all. So I listened and learned. We then covered a wide range of subjects and had a great time discussing various conservative positions.

As I worked my way around the tent, I spoke to person after person who ranged from respectful to enthusiastic in their reaction to my talking about MR. I was struck by the fact that no one had anything bad to say about Mitt. And believe me, that was not the case when it came to several other candidates. I realize that I am biased in MR’s favor, but I came away from the meeting with the impression that MR is widely respected within this organization.

There were several nationally noted speakers, including Tom DeLay. Speaker DeLay said that he left Congress because his indictment precluded him from holding any leadership post in the House and because he thought he could be more effective outside of Congress, under the circumstances. He said that he “spent five weeks on my knees” praying for guidance after he left Congress.

One passage of his speech that struck me was when he said that we (Republicans) don’t realize the power of the Clinton machine. Democrats believe in grassroots efforts: ringing doorbells, phone banks, etc. He said that although he believes that the best think tanks in Washington are the conservative ones, we haven’t learned to put our ideas into action. “Real people, meeting real people, grassroots organizations on the ground, rather than E-mails and mailers, getting involved down to the local level.”

On a personal note, Speaker DeLay said that “a cameraman follows me where ever I go.” He didn’t say so, but I got the impression that he was referring to “opposition research.”

He left this final thought. “Hillary Clinton has everything she needs to win. She has the money, she has the organization and she has the discipline. If we don’t get our act together, Hillary Clinton will be the next President.”

The highlight of the event, for me, was the voting. As I said in a previous post, I wanted to get a feel for the level of support for MR within the party, the people who can influence hundreds, if nor thousands of other people because of their extensive contacts.

Since I went to the meeting not as a delegate, but as an observer, I was not knowledgeable about the mechanics of the actual voting. It is my understanding the the voting went as follows.

1. Fred Thompson……43
2. Mitt Romney……….20
3. Ron Paul……………18
4. Duncan Hunter…….13
5. Tom Tancredo……..13
6. John Cox……………. 8
7. Newt Gingrich………. 4
8. Mike Huckabee……… 4
9. Tommy Thompson….. 3
10. John McCain………… 2
11. Rudy Guiliani………… 1
12. Sam Brownback…….. 1
13. Chuck Hegel…………. 0

Because their was no plurality, the voting then was thrown into what would have been known on the national level as a “brokered convention”. When I left, my understanding was that Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson were tied.

Summing up, I think it was a very educational and fun weekend. I can tell you that our candidate was very much on the minds of the people that I spoke with. One of the leaders of the convention said that he thought McCain was done. He went on to say, “Mitt Romney is one of the most persuasive candidates that I have ever known. All he needs to do is get into a room and start talking and people become Romney supporters. I wish his schedule had allowed him to be here this weekend. I would have loved to see him work this crowd.”

Few obervations after watching tonights Road to the White House on C-Span…

First, Tommy Thompson is an elitist JERK. And if that sounds rude, so be it. I saw him at the Raddison in NH on June 6th, and this person who looked like a kid comes up to him and asks him something to the affect are you interested in keeping New Hampshire’s Primary first in the nation, and are you willing to go on video to proclaim it. Well, he pretty much blew this kid off and didn’t give him the time of day.

Now Romney on the other hand gave this kid some major attention, and the kid walked away happy.

Also, later on in the episode they show Thompson visiting this business. The first thing he talks about is how he LOVES to go into businesses because the first thing he gets to see is a smiling pretty woman. That first of all just made me irritated (not upset mind you just irritated). But then when he finds out he has to obey the company’s regulations and sign into the place and wear this badge and protective gear he acts all like that’s beneath him. He shouts at some other person to sign him in and he takes his badge. He didn’t seem all that interested in the business truthfully. He just so irritated me.

Now two other points. Despite the fact that I am wholeheartedly behind Romney 100%, and virtually nothing could change that. I was really impressed by both Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo. I saw the entire interview with Tancredo where he talks about McCain and Giuliani pulling out of Ames because of fear of loss. He really seems like a great guy. I can so see him being Romney’s VP especially with his Immigration stances. I also was pleased with Duncan Hunter. He talked about how his son had joined the Marines the day after 9/11, and how he (the son) had decided to run for office just before he was deployed back to the middle east. I just really got a good vibe from him.

Anyway, I guess that’s it.
