Abhorrent Huck tries to back pedal and fails miserably…

I figured since the Huck loves to use the term abhorrent against people that I my as well use it against him, turnabout is fair play, right?

Anyway, the Huck is at it again…

If you’ll remember from earlier this week I put out this post —–>Mike Huckabee’s Bigotry Towards AIDS Victims Reminded Me of Something.

Well, apparently Ryan’s Mother was infuriated by the Huck’s comments, see this post —–>Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You…Mother of Ryan White Infuriated at Huckabee Comments at Race 4 2008.

Well, Huck has a response here ——>Mike Huckabee to Discuss AIDS Remarks with Mother of Ryan White.

Quoting:

Said Huckabee: “I certainly never would want to say anything that would be hurtful to them or anyone else. I would have great regret and anxiety if I thought my comments were hurtful or in any way added to the already incredible pain that families have felt regardless of how they contracted AIDS.”

Awwww sssHUCKABEE, no way…Suggesting isolation for HIV/AIDS patients hurtful? Suggesting that Ryan White be sent away from society is incredibly painful? Who would have ever guessed it? Then again the Huck didn’t know much about Cuban relations either, because Arkansas isn’t that close to Cuba. I guess that given that logic there weren’t any HIV/AIDS sufferers there either.

“I would be very willing to meet with them. I would tell them we’ve come a long way in research, in treatment.”

Really? Have we? I’m sure you’re just the person to bring her up to speed when it comes to AIDS research. I’m sure she’s well ahead of ya there Hucko, considering she started a foundation about AIDS bearing her son’s name —–>The Ryan White Foundation.

Mike Huckabee’s Bigotry towards AIDS victims reminded me of something.

December 9th, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in AIDS, Bigotry, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Ryan White

I have been readjusting to being back at home since my lovely trip to College Station, TX so I haven’t had a lot of time to really sit down and blog like I’ve wanted to. One thing that has been on my mind though is Mike Huckabee’s absolute bigoted discrimination of AIDS victims with the ludicrous suggestion to quarantine them. His extreme view of this reminded me of The Ryan White story.
Ryan White
If you can’t remember who Ryan White was, I’ll refresh your memory. Ryan was the hemophiliac who contracted AIDS via tainted blood products. His only wish was to attend school with his friends, but because of his AIDS the school administration, staff at the school, and parents of students attending the school he was blocked. He had to take a long arduous road through different administrative hearings and going through the courts to retain the basic right of obtaining an education alongside his peers and friends. In the end, he was allowed back but when he did return he was faced with taunts and rejection. Eventually he moved, and went to another school that welcomed him with open arms.

With Huckabee’s feelings about AIDS victims being brought to life this week, he reminded me of the school administration that tried to block Ryan White’s ability to attend school. For a man wearing his Christianity on his sleeve everywhere he goes, his comments about victims of HIV/AIDS sound anything but Christian. It sounds more bigoted and UNChristian to me.

By contrast Governor Romney is the polar opposite, and on top of that Governor Romney doesn’t romp around the country touting his Christian bona-fides. He doesn’t create campaign ads promoting himself as a Christian Leader. He just quietly lives his faith, with no pomp and circumstance, serving all.

SIDE NOTE: Huck certainly had no problem releasing convicted felons from Arkansas prisons. But yet, he wanted to quarantine innocent AIDS victims. Isn’t there something just blatantly obviously wrong with this?
