Sen. Craig Lashing Out

October 15th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Idaho

Sen. Craig is trying to restore his reputation. That’s his business, but I don’t think he’s going about it the right way though. He’s complaining that Gov. Romney “threw me under his campaign bus, he backed up and ran over me again”. Well, perhaps whining would be a better term for it. A term that would apply to him often lately as he’s broken his pledge to step down from his Senate seat.

Just to recap, Sen. Craig made some gestures with his hand and foot that an undercover cop recognized as a solicitation for sex. Of his own free will, he stood up in court and basically admitted to doing this. I hate to bring out the old trope of “think about the children”, but we are talking about a public restroom and kids need to pee too. Maybe I’m a little old-fashioned, but I think that people should be able to use the restroom without concerning themselves with the possibility of two men having sex in the next stall. For that, Gov. Romney called Sen. Craig’s conduct “sick”.

Sen. Craig now proclaims his innocence. That’s fine. But he needs to Man-Up and stop blaming everyone else for his terrible judgement.

Cheapshot of the Night

August 27th, 2007 | 7 Comments | Posted in Idaho

As some of you likely know, Sen. Craig of Idaho plead guilty in June to lewd behavior in a Minneapolis bathroom. Craig’s behavior isn’t to be condoned and he will hopefully do the honorable thing and resign his office, or, at least, decline to run in 2008.

Things take a turn towards the cynical when guilt-by-association hit pieces are launched because of Sen. Craig’s, now ended, position within team Romney.

This is disgusting. Gov. Romney cannot be expected to account for all of his various supporters flaws. I don’t recall a big deal being made of Giuliani’s ties to Sen. Vitter when his illegal sexual activities were brought to light, nor should they have been. I suppose this should be expected. Gov. Romney has led a life as free from scandal as one can imagine. How do you smear a candidate who is so clean he squeeks? You attack him for the behavior of people of whom he exercises no control over.

It’s a low blow and every wretched rumor-mongering filth peddler who tries to exploit it should be condemned accordingly.

Google Trends - Mitt is out performing his competition on the web!

April 9th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in 2008 Election, Idaho

This from Idahoans For Mitt:

Below are the search results from Google Trends. (Click here for the actual link.) Mitt is the blue line, McCain is the red line, and Giuliani is the orange line. Notice the tremendous surge in the number of people searching on the web for Mitt Romney in the past few months.

My borther-in-law hit the nail on the head when he said:

“Consider these stats in light of the headlines McCain and Giuliani have enjoyed in the national press over the last few years. They have both been riding the wave of popularity (with the Senate and 9/11 issues), and now, a relatively unknown candidate is blasting past them both despite their free ride on the popular express!!!”
Thanks Peter.

On the Campaign Trail

October 29th, 2006 | Comments Off | Posted in Idaho, Iowa

Like those of us in the grassroots, Gov. Romney is keeping himself busy in the rush up to election day. He spent much of Friday and Saturday in Iowa helping Jim Nussle in his race for governor along with some of the state’s close House seats.

“This is a critical election,” Romney said. “A lot of people are concerned about the ongoing conflict in Iraq, but they don’t feel we should cut and run, and they don’t feel that a change in leadership in their state is merited by what’s happening nationally.”

Gov. Romney will also be in Idaho on Tuesday to campaign for Butch Otter.
