Checking In…

January 6th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Misc.

I just wanted to let you know that I am still around. We’re currently just outside of Cincinnati OH (Florence KY) on our way back from my nephew’s funeral. I’m emotionally drained and taxed, and can’t wait to get home. I am going to be deciding within the next twenty-four hours whether I’m going to go ahead and head to New Hampshire. At this point, I’m leaning 60% yes. Just need to get a few ducks in a row to make it happen. I’ve been reading a few of the posts (not a lot), and I’m hoping that Governor Romney’s fortunes continue to go well :)

Anyway, thanks for all of your support during the past month (I would have made it, but you all helped make it a little easier).

All the best!

Last Appeal for my nephew Devon Curling and his family!

Once again I’m putting this out there…

Devon Curling
Born September 26, 1996

While you’re enjoying your holiday season. While you’re watching your kids open those Christmas Presents and you snap those pictures, there is an eleven year old boy just outside of Cincinnati OH (who happens to be my nephew) who is enjoying his last one. He’s dying of leukemia. He loses more strength every day, and becomes paler and paler. Despite all of this though, he’s enjoying this holiday. He wakes up every single morning with a smile on his face and determination to live another day, and enjoy his brothers and sisters the most he can. But, one day soon there won’t be anymore days. His body will succumb and he will no longer be with us. I know that’s harsh but it’s the truth. Devon’s family has been overstressed the past 2 1/2 yrs dealing with numerous rounds of chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and additional attempts with other medicine to keep him alive. This has taken a financial tole as well. There is a fund that has been set up for Devon’s funeral and burial expenses. You can donate to it one of the following ways:

You can donate via credit card to my PayPal account and I will write a big check to be deposited in the fund:

Or you can write a check, and mail to the following:

Write Checks out to “The Devon Curling Fund”
Address:
The Bank of Kentucky
1831 Madison Avenue
Covington, KY 41014
Attn: Lisa Metzger

Here are two stories from Cincinnati OH media outlets about Devon’s Family’s situation:

From: The Cincinnati Post —–>11-year-old’s prognosis is ‘grave’

From WLWT NBC 5 in Cincinnati OH:—–>Family Asks For Help In Boy’s Battle Against Cancer

I know that there are a lot of you who care so much about Devon and have prayed for him, and continue to pray for him and I so much appreciate it. I just wanted to appeal to your heart. Can you imagine this happening to your family, of all times at Christmas? Christmas is supposed to be that magical holiday for children, not a time of year when you have to bury them.

Thank You for your time and prayers,

Ann Marie Curling

*****Please Help My Nephew and His Family*****

I’m going to go off topic for a moment here…

Devon Curling
Born September 26, 1996

My nephew Devon Curling is dying of Leukemia right now. His situation is so grave that he could go tomorrow. The doctors are thinking more like a week or two, but he spent five hours in the hospital last week getting pain medication. As the doctors say, this is the beginning of the end. Devon has been featured on two Cincinnati OH news outlets this week. My brother and sister-in-law are struggling right now, as my brother lost his job having to take Devon for Chemotherapy treatments while my sister-in-law took care of their other four children. You can read more about their situation by watching the links below the following donation instructions.

Instructions to donate are as follows:
Write Checks out to “The Devon Curling Fund”
Address:
The Bank of Kentucky
1831 Madison Avenue
Covington, KY 41014
Attn: Lisa Metzger

I have now set up a way for you to donate via Credit Card. I will collect the money, and then write a big check for the fund. I will make sure and get you a receipt from the bank directly for the amount that you donate.

From: The Cincinnati Post —–>11-year-old’s prognosis is ‘grave’

From WLWT NBC 5 in Cincinnati OH:—–> Family Asks For Help In Boy’s Battle Against Cancer

UPDATE: He’s had two good days, the community came in and played Santa Claus for the family yesterday, bringing in food, clothing, toys, and books. After that, some of the Cincinnati Bengals and Cheerleaders stopped by. People are trying hard to help the family out, but his funeral and burial expenses will be between $10,000 and $12,000 given that they want to have services in Cincinnati where the community has reached out, and in Michigan where he will be buried and where the family originated.

Thanks so much for your willingness to open your heart.

I’m back…

November 14th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Misc., This Site

I’ve been unable to see the site for the past twenty-four hours plus due to the fact that we migrated to our new server after our nightmare situation with the transfer of our old server to another.

We should not have any more server difficulties for the foreseeable future, and in the process we’re contributing to the welfare of Michigan’s economy (as our server is now located there).

I can’t wait to catch up on all that I’ve missed. I’m happy to see that everyone was able to keep us afloat while I was gone.

Best,

Ann Marie
