Jeff Beatty Says Kerry is Ducking the Problems of Massachusetts Voters

Matt Hurley writes about the economic challenges facing Massachusetts, including the fact that the state is one of the few states in the country losing population. Many of the reforms implemented by Gov. Romney are in the process of being undone by Obama pal Deval Patrick as Mass. returns to it’s old Soviet style government.

U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Beatty decries Deval Patrick’s plan to RAISE state income taxes at a time when the voters are angry enough to be supporting a Proposition that will ELIMINATE state income taxes. Talk about being 180 degrees out of touch with the voters!

~~John Cronin~~

http://massdiscussion.blogspot.com/2008/08/massachusetts-update.html

Boston – US Senate Candidate Jeff Beatty called out John Kerry for again for ducking an opportunity to address (much less solve) the problems facing Massachusetts voters.

Speaking at a candidates forum in Holliston, MA, Beatty pointed to the announcement that Deval Patrick will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention with John Kerry continuing his role as super surrogate to Barack Obama as evidence that the attention of these politicians is on self promotion and not on solving the problems of the Commonwealth.

“Gas and food costs are too high, with the price of heating oil two and a half times last year’s price. It’s the middle class that is feeling the squeeze. And where are John Kerry and Deval Patrick during this crisis? On their way to Denver, looking for new jobs and confirming for voters that they are more interested in their own political futures than they are in protecting families and protecting jobs in Massachusetts,” said Jeff Beatty, Republican US Senate nominee, founder of a successful Homeland Security consulting business and former Delta Force Officer.

In his speech today and a Human Events OpEd published this week, Beatty pointed to problems that are going unattended here at home — problems created and piling up while John Kerry and Deval Patrick were supposed to be on the job: “Under Kerry and Patrick, Massachusetts now has one of the nation’s highest property tax burdens, is among the highest in per capita debt, and is one of the few states in the country to be losing population. Now, Governor Patrick is flirting with raising income taxes to wipe away the sins of his Democratic buddies. In short, the Patrick/Kerry movie boils down to a series of broken promises and failed leadership.” Beatty points to evidence, also “piling up”, that Massachusetts voters are now angry enough to turn John Kerry out of office and deliver the Bay State’s 12 electoral votes to John McCain.

He spoke about Obama’s primary loss to Hillary Clinton by 15 points, the Question One ballot measure to eliminate state income tax and a recent poll that shows John McCain closing the gap with Obama from 23 to just 9 points. All of this mounting evidence points to what six months ago may have seemed unlikely in Massachusetts - a potential victory for McCain over Obama and a Jeff Beatty win in the US Senate race against John Kerry.

McCain Will Beat Obama in Mass., I’ll Beat Kerry, Beatty Says

Jeff Beatty has come out swinging in an interview with the POLITICKERMA.COM. It seems the former Delta Force veteran is less than intimidated by “The One”.

Responding to a recent poll showing presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s lead over presumptive GOP nominee John McCain in Massachusetts narrowing, Jeff Beatty (R), the Republican challenging U.S. Sen. John Kerry, predicted victory in both his race and for McCain in Massachusetts.

A 7News/Suffolk University poll released Monday showed Obama (Ill.) with a nine-point lead over McCain (Ariz.) - 47 percent to 38 percent. The last 7News/Suffolk University poll, released a month and a half ago, showed Obama leading McCain by 23 points, 53 percent to 30 percent.

“People see him for what he is,” Beatty told PolitickerMA.com referring to Obama. “Obama is shallow. He’s an empty suit. He doesn’t have the relevant experience to work the country out of its problems and John McCain does. I’ve been advocating an action policy to solve these problems and that’s resonating with voters. That’s why I’ll say McCain is going to carry Massachusetts and I’m going to beat John Kerry.”

The Beatty camp contends that McCain is gaining ground in Massachusetts because Bay State voters are not comfortable voting for Obama. Obama’s recent shifts in position on energy policy, they say, have raised doubts about where Obama stands. At the same time, they say, McCain’s brand remains strong among unenrolled voters in Massachusetts.

Beatty said Massachusetts voters may be reluctant to support a candidate about whom they know little after Gov. Deval Patrick’s (D-Milton) missteps after he first took office.

“It’s a function of knowing your voters,” Beatty said, “being out there and listening to them. They’ve seen this movie before; it was John Kerry and Deval Patrick the first time it came out. They don’t’ want to see the John Kerry and Barack Obama version of the movie.”

This isn’t the first time Beatty has predicted McCain would win Massachusetts. In an interview with PolitickerMA.com on July 22, Beatty said if McCain picked former Gov. Mitt Romney (R) to be his vice presidential candidate, he would carry Massachusetts.

Ultimately, Beatty said he is seeing the momentum turning in the GOP’s favor.
“I believe that John McCain will win the 12 electoral votes of the commonwealth of Massachusetts,” he said. “What you saw in the poll yesterday, that’s a tremendous swing.”

Analysts Chime In: Would Kerry Leave the Senate for a Position in an Obama Administration?

Many things concern me about an Obama Administration. His inexperience in foreign affairs, his non-existent legislative accomplishments, his hard left economics and the company he has kept for 20 years. This articles speculates that Kerry might want to be Secretary of Defense in an Obama administration. The only group of people that Kerry could be persuaded to go to war against are the veterans of Operation Swift Boat that helped to scuttle his chances to win the 2004 presidential election.

By Jeremy P. Jacobs

As the presidential race plugs along and U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Boston) continues his work as a surrogate for presumptive Democratic nominee U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, one hot topic of conversation among the Massachusetts political punditry is whether Kerry is eyeing a spot in a possible Obama administration.

Asked if he thought Kerry would leave, Michael Goldman, a veteran Boston Democratic political strategist responded, “Absolutely. If there was a position, either secretary of state or secretary of defense, I think that he would jump at the opportunity to serve his country in either of those capacities. Maybe UN Ambassador is a third possibility…But certainly there’s no question in my mind that he would love to have an opportunity to do any of those jobs, and quite frankly, I think he believes he’d do a great job with of them.”

To be fair, Kerry has repeatedly said that is not the case. Kerry, who is currently facing a primary challenge from Gloucester attorney Ed O’Reilly and a Republican challenge from former CIA and FBI agent Jeff Beatty, has said he is only focused on returning to the senate for his fifth term.

The Race for Second in Command

My main man for Massachusett’s Senator, Jeff Beatty, is a Mitt for VP booster! Who knew!

Jeff Beatty’s recommendation of MR to the McCain campaign says two important things. It speaks volumes about Jeff Beatty’s integrity. Gov. Romney endorsed Jeff’s primary opponent, Jim Ogonowski, because Jim did so well in his race against Democrat Nikki Tsongas two years before. Mitt’s endorsement of Ogonowski was understandable, given his performance against a big-name Democrat. Jeff Beatty was a political unknown at the time. A lot of politicians might have harbored a fair amount of resentment toward another politician for endorsing the other guy, even given the circumstances…..but not Beatty. He comes out with his letter recommending Mitt as VP to the party’s presumptive nominee, putting party loyalty before any personal feelings he might have had.

The other thing it says is that the leadership of the Mass. GOP is coalescing behind it’s two brightest stars, Romney and Beatty. This bodes well for the campaign to unseat John Kerry from his perch in the U.S. Senate.

~~John Cronin~~

http://www.tauntongazette.com/news/x1768854895/The-race-for-second-in-command

Some political analysts put Romney at the top of McCain’s shortlist. Jeff Beatty, a Harwich Republican running against U.S. Sen. John Kerry, sent a letter to McCain Monday urging him to pick Romney.

“Our country faces two great challenges: a National Security challenge and a challenge to our National Economy,” he wrote. “I believe that your leadership as our President and the economic experience of a Vice President Mitt Romney is the combination that will ensure America meets those twin challenges successfully.”

Beatty cited Romney’s experience overseeing the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and leading Massachusetts as governor. “America right now needs leaders with the relevant experience,” he said. “A McCain-Romney ticket offers Americans the best possible Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates with the relevant experience to meet our two top challenges.”

Romney could bring balance to the GOP ticket, Kryzanek said. Romney seems to have closer ties than McCain to the Republican Party’s conservative base. He is also more youthful in appearance, which may help quiet concerns over McCain’s age, the professor said.

“The argument that Romney can make is that he has the economic and business experience and savvy that John McCain does not,” Kryzanek said.

The Jeff Beatty Quarterly Report July 2008

Although Jeff Beatty acknowledged from the very start of his campaign that it would be “an uphill battle” to unseat 6 term incumbent John Kerry from the US Senate, his campaign has made jaw-dropping progress in the last several months.

Below is part of the report that I received from the Jeff Beatty campaign. Due to it’s length, I hope to post the report over the next 2-3 days. So stay clicked to remain “in the loop” on ALL THINGS JEFF BEATTY!

“It’s Time To Replace John Kerry With One of Us”

July 22nd, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Congress, Jeff Beatty, John Kerry

I just got an email from the Massachusett’s Senatorial Campaign of Jeff Beatty (R) who is running for John Kerry’s seat. They have just put up a petition on his website, asking Mass. resident’s to show their support for Jeff Beatty’s plan to replace one of the U.S. Congress’ most liberal Senators with a conservative who supports tax relief for the middle class and enforcing our border laws.

For any of our Mittheads who are residents of Massachusetts, please click onto Mr. Beatty’s website and sign the petition. This may be the first real opportunity in 24 years to replace this Uber-Liberal with a Senator who can relate to the challenges of middle-class Americans.

~~John Cronin~~

http://petition.jeffbeatty.com/

Dear Voters of Massachusetts,

For the past 24 years, John Kerry has enjoyed the status of being your junior senator. This elite millionaire has a history of supporting higher taxes for the middle and working classes, and in the last 8 years has not passed a single bill into law. Every American is hurt by Kerry’s time in the senate, but only you, the citizens of Massachusetts, can vote him out. So this November, we are asking you to do just that.

John Forbes Kerry has earned the great distinction of being ranked as the richest American senator, with an estimated personal net worth of $200 million (not including his wife’s fortune). And yet, when he’s not windsurfing, spending time in one of his mansions or boating in his multi-million dollar yacht, Kerry is crushing middle and working class families and small businesses with his pro-tax agenda.
Here is a small sampling of the votes cast by John Kerry in the first half of 2008 alone:

• John Kerry voted against amendments to provide extensions of tax relief for renewable energy production, combat pay for soldiers, and higher-education.

• John Kerry voted against a Federal income tax deduction for individuals purchasing health insurance outside the workplace.

• John Kerry voted against a bill to protect small businesses, family ranches and farms from the Death Tax.

Kerry was advised to look more “presidential” by voting to support the Iraq war, and when public opinion shifted against it, so did his position. Who could forget this quote: “I actually did vote for the $87 billion dollars, before I voted against it.” Kerry voted to send America’s children and loved-ones into a war purely for his own personal and political gains. When his agenda changed, so did his vote — now in direct opposition to the very same troops he helped put in harm’s way.

As citizens of one of the other 49 United States, we cannot vote to replace John Forbes Kerry this November, but this does not mean his actions have not adversely affected us all. So we will support you in Massachusetts. We will donate, we will blog, we will call talk radio, but we, the rest of the United States of America, must rely on you, the citizens of the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts, to end Kerry’s 24-year reign in the senate and replace him with Jeff Beatty, a Senator who will fight for every American family, every American job and for the protection of the Country we all love.

Gritty Gloucester Man Puts Kerry to Test

The BOSTON HERALD reports that John Kerry may be vulnerable in his first primary challenge since being elected to the Senate in 1984. A Suffolk University poll from last year showed only 37% of Massachusetts voters supported his re-election.

I have been supporting the candidacy of his Republican challenger, Jeff Beatty, on the assumption that Beatty would be matched up with Kerry. Wouldn’t it be a shocker if Kerry doesn’t get past his primary challenge with Ed O’Reilly!!

http://news.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/op_ed/view/2008_06_13_
Gritty_Gloucester_man_puts_Kerry_to_test/srvc=home&position=recent

O’Reilly is the perfect messenger for all those disappointed Hillaryites, especially the women who want to show Kerry just how angry they are that he accepted women’s work to elect him to four six-year terms, but abandoned the first woman with a serious shot for president.
Indeed, the buzz at the convention was that Kerry’s poll numbers are almost as bad as they were last year when Suffolk University showed 56 percent of voters sampled statewide saying it’s “time for someone else.” Only 37 percent favored his re-election.

Kerry’s trying hard to change that. At the state convention, he said, “With your help” Democrats could gain as many as seven Senate seats - enough to end GOP filibusters. And if Obama wins, Democrats could usher in “the first moment of progressive legislating since Lyndon Johnson was president.”

But O’Reilly will be no pushover on Kerry’s way to a general election match with Republican Jeff Beatty.

Kerry’s GOP Challenger Hoping to Tap Party’s Money Machine

I saw this story this morning before I left for work, so I bookmarked it for later. In the meantime 2thepoint spotted it as well.

The buzz around Jeff Beatty’s Senate campaign is getting louder, with each week that goes by, press stories relating to Beatty are cropping up with increasing frequency.

Unseating Kerry is going to be very tough, the incumbent has about a $13,000,000 head start on Jeff. But if everything goes as planned, two very influential politicians by the names of McCain and Romney, may well see to it that the financial gap is narrowed.

BOSTON -

Jeffrey Beatty has had tougher jobs than unseating an incumbent U.S. senator — there was the time his Blackhawk helicopter was shot down on a rescue mission — yet few have come with longer odds.

The former CIA counterterrorism expert and one-time member of the Army’s elite Delta Force is hoping to oust Sen. John Kerry, the Democrats’ 2004 presidential nominee, and take a seat on Capitol Hill with the backing of residents from the bluest of Democratic blue states.

He’s aiming to win the support of state and national Republicans, including the GOP’s 2008 presidential nominee — Sen. John McCain of Arizona — when he comes to Boston for a fundraiser Wednesday.

Memo for Friends and Supporters of the Beatty for U.S. Congress Campaign

The following is a press release from Jeff Beatty’s Campaign Office for U.S. Senator for Massachusetts.

~~John Cronin~~

The past two weeks have been a positive affirmation of why I am in this race; I am overwhelmed by the support of our volunteers and the citizens of the Commonwealth. Team Beatty has been busy and my apologies for the newsletter delay.

Campaign Review

As I write this note, I am the sole nominee for the Republican Party to run against John Kerry.

We are now focused on the 4 M’s - Message, Media, Manpower and Money! I need your help in all four areas. Look for places to help me get the message out! Let’s arrange to sit down with your local Media (papers, radio and TV). We need you to help us build our base of volunteers, find lawn sign locations and fill the road with bumper stickers. And, of course, we need you to ask your like-minded friends to help us by donating!

Please log on to www.jeffbeatty.com and update your volunteer status. If you’ve donated before, please consider making it a recurring monthly donation. If you haven’t, now’s the time! We are hoping to get our first TV ads on the air in July, but we need your help.

I owe this good fortune to all the supporters, friends, and benefactors of the campaign. When all was said and done, we submitted over 16,500 certified signatures to the Secretary of the State. Again, while it’s my name on the ticket, this is our campaign, and it’s time to move on to the next stage.

While I am heartened by the zeal shown by my supporters, there are a great number of citizens in the Commonwealth who do not know who I am, what I have done or where I stand on the issues. Over the next couple of months, the campaign’s main focus will be getting our positive message out through a host of state-wide events. I invite you to check the website frequently as we add events to the calendar.

While getting on the ballot kept me busy (and my team even more so), I managed to squeeze in multiple radio interviews and even a few TV appearances. I had an enjoyable time talking with the Republican Town Committees in Saugus and Sudbury and met with a number of contributors in Swampscott in late May. Lastly, it was great to see so many supporters the Association of Republican Town Committees last week.

Upcoming Events

Over the course of the next two weeks, I’ll be on the road getting the word out on my candidacy and where I stand on the issues. Our Democratic opponent has deep pockets but we have the message! Check the events page on my website for more details.
• 9 June (TONIGHT) – I am the featured speaker at the Attleboro Republican Committee meeting tonight.
• 11 June – I will be speaking at the Quincy Republican Town Committee meeting on Wednesday.

As always, your support will be critical. We have met one of our goals by winning the party’s nomination. Now, we will have the tough fight—going against an entrenched Senator looking for his fifth term. It’s a tough fight, but with your support, we will succeed!

Thank you for your continued support, and feel free to contact james@jeffbeatty.com with any questions about the campaign or volunteer opportunities. I welcome opportunities to fundraise, receive endorsements and employ volunteers, so please contact my campaign staff through www.jeffbeatty.com.

Keep an eye out for the next newsletter on May 20th, and make sure to friend me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter! Again, thanks for your help!

It’s Official: John Kerry to Have Primary Competition!

Uber-Liberal, 24 year Democratic incumbent and ertswhile Presidential candidate John Kerry will have to endure the indignity of a primary challenge from Gloucester attorney Ed O’Reilly.

To add insult to injury, if he survives the primary, he’ll then have to face the surging Jeff Beatty in the general election. That’s what happens when you are out of touch with your constituents.

~~John Cronin~~

Boston Globe

LOWELL –

Gloucester attorney Ed O’Reilly got enough support from party officials today to ensure that he will give US Senator John F. Kerry his first Democratic primary challenge in 24 years.

At the state Democratic Party convention at the Paul E. Tsongas Arena, O’Reilly got 22.5 percent of the 2,574 ballots cast, more than the 15 percent he needed to secure a spot on the primary ballot. Kerry got the majority of votes, which means he’ll get the party’s endorsement.

“Party officials said this campaign is a nuisance. And it is. It’s a total nuisance,” O’Reilly said to the convention floor. “Democracy is a nuisance. People said the American Revolution was a nuisance — and it was!”

Kerry, in his fourth six-year term, last had a serious challenge in 1996, from Governor William F. Weld, a Republican. He hasn’t had a primary opponent since 1984, when Kerry and three other Democrats ran for a seat vacated by Paul Tsongas.

Few predict the sitting senator will be vulnerable in a primary race. But it could mean more campaigning this summer – and marks an embarrassment that a former presidential candidate was unable to thwart the challenge from O’Reilly.

Jeff Beatty Easily Qualifies for Massachusetts Ballot: Set to Challenge Uber-Liberal Kerry this fall

Great news from the Beatty Campaign. Jeff Beatty, former elite Delta force member and Purple Heart winner has easily qualified for the Republican Senate ballot in Massachusetts, pitting him against John Kerry, former 2004 democratic Presidential nominee and 24 year Senatorial incumbent.

Congratulations to Jeff and to Team Beatty, including the unsung heroes of all successful campaigns, the grassroots activists who are the foot soldiers who ring the doorbells, put out the yards signs and make good things happen!

Summary: US Senate Candidate Jeff Beatty, a Republican from Massachusetts, has secured a spot on the ballot thanks to a grass roots campaign that gathered 17,000 certified signatures. Beatty thanked volunteers, staff members, donors and supporters at a gathering in Westborough this past weekend, where he also outlined his campaign plans for the coming months.

US SENATE CANDIDATE JEFF BEATTY THANKS VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF FOR SUCCESSFUL NOMINATION DRIVE, OUTLINES CAMPAIGN TO NOVEMBER

Grass roots effort results in 17 thousand certified signatures delivered to the Secretary of State’s office, assuring Beatty’s place on ballot

Boston - US Senate candidate Jeff Beatty, Republican, celebrated gaining access to the ballot by personally thanking supporters and volunteers who powered his signature drive. For two months, hundreds of supporters canvassed the Commonwealth sharing Beatty’s campaign vision and filling enough nomination sheets necessary to get Beatty on the ballot. Beatty’s successful nomination follows another significant milestone announced last month - 30 thousand donors who gave almost $1 million dollars to his campaign.

“I’m honored by how many people have decided to invest in our campaign, giving their time and effort to bring new leadership to the U.S. Senate,” said Beatty at a supporter gathering held in Westborough over the weekend. “This proves that people are excited about this race and, after 24 years of lackluster leadership, are ready to send a real fighter to Washington.”

Beatty began this campaign a year ago by launching an exploratory committee in April 2007. Since then he has traveled throughout Massachusetts listening to voters and sharing his vision to protect their families, protect their jobs and protect the Commonwealth and country.

“It is time to send someone with relevant experience to Washington to fight for these basic values,” said Beatty, a former Delta Force Officer and founder of a homeland security and public safety company. “I have owned a business, worked for years in public safety and security, and developed the background to solve the serious problems we face today. I’m running because we have waited too long for someone to step up and do the work.”

Beatty will spend the remaining spring and summer months introducing himself to voters and preparing for the hard contest coming in the fall.

Party Rift On Display as Dems Settle Florida, Michigan

We can take little solace from the fact that the Dems are fighting like the Hatfields and the McCoys this election cycle. We Republicans have our own party divisions. I read an article today that said that the Dems are out registering new Democratic voters in Colorado by a 10 to 1 ratio over new Republican voters.

Balancing that bad news is some very positive news from Congressional races that I am following. Jeff Beatty from Massachusetts is statistically tied with John Kerry and Jason Chaffetz is within 2 points of six term, open borders incumbent Chris Cannon in Utah.

~~John Cronin~~

http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/party-division-on-display-as-dems-settle-
florida-michigan-2008-05-31.html

The Democratic Party should for all practical purposes be in the driver’s seat heading into November. President Bush has anemic approval ratings and his would-be successor – Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) – supports him on the unpopular Iraq War.

Democratic primary turnout is breaking records in every state, and both history-making candidates have shattered fundraising records.

Democrats are excited, mobilized and opening their wallets.

But as the Rules and Bylaws Committee settled on two formulas as a way to seat both Florida and Michigan, one possibly fatal problem became clear: The Democratic Party is far from unified, and it might be a while before it is.

Jeff Beatty Easily Qualifies for Massachusetts Ballot!

In all fairness to Jim Ogonowski, he still has a few days to get all his ballot petitions certified and I honestly wish him well in that effort.

That being said, the candidate that I have been supporting in his bid for the Republican nomination for the US Senate for Massachusetts, Jeff Beatty, has qualified with a comfortable surplus.

Congratulations to Team Beatty and now it’s on to the general election and let’s send John Kerry back to his home state and begin to change the culture of Washington, D.C.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/05/24/
judge_unmoved_by_state_representatives_signature_plight/

Jim Ogonowski, the state GOP establishment’s favored candidate to unseat US Senator John F. Kerry, still appears to be falling short in his bid to get his name on the Republican primary ballot. State election officials said yesterday that the 28-year Air Force veteran from Dracut gained just three new signatures in the last several days, raising his total to 9,879 - 121 short of what he needs.

Tuesday is the last day for local election officials to count. Offices are closed Monday. State election officials say it is very likely all the city and town election officials have completed almost of their certification work. Another candidate, Jeff Beatty, has easily qualified for the ballot.
