By Jason Bonham
I started following Mitt back in ‘95 when I lived in Dayton, Ohio and had met several Boston transplants with Romney stickers on there car. They told me about Mitt, and his election bid against Ted Kennedy. I was intrigued. From there I kept up on Mitt as he ran the Olympics and became governor of Massachusetts. Living in Utah during the Olympics, the rumors were already running that Mitt should run for president.

In the spring of 2004 I took a job with Fort Wayne Philharmonic, requiring me to commute 2-3 times month through the Indiana countryside. During 2004 Governor Mitch McDaniels had campaign signs all over the state that read, “My Man Mitch,” a reference to the name Pres. Bush gave the governor while campaigning for him. Being an early Mitt fan I thought that would be a cool name for a Mitt Romney campaign as well.

I started my first blog in May 2006 for Mitt, Illinoisans 4 Mitt, inspired by Ann Marie’s site here, Nathan Burd’s Americans for Mitt and Jeff Fuller’s Iowans for Romney. After talking with several other bloggers we decided to form a national blog, and eventually settled on My Man Mitt . We went live in early September and by October we had around 600 unique hits per day. Around that time Justin Hart joined our ranks and really brought us the techy face lift we needed. By January Justin had redesigned the site and added his own political savvy, bringing our site up to where it is today.

I think one of the hallmarks of MMM (again a big thanks to Justin) is our coverage of live events. From the legendary 6.5 million dollar day and Romney’s official announcement to CPAC and following Romney around in Iowa for several days, we have been able to find a niche that has allowed us to bring unique quality content to the blogosphere.

Lastly, I should add that one of the great things Mitt has going for him is the grassroots support in the blogosphere. And he owes a lot of that to Ann Marie, and the great job she has done. I think this site here was the first site on the web for Mitt, and I doubt the idea to become a blogger would have ever crossed my mind if it weren’t for Ann having the forethought to start blogging for Mitt.

Editorial Insert from Ann Marie: I might add that My Man Mitt and Elect Romney in 2008 worked concurrently together when Jason and I covered the Governor’s Announcement in Dearborn Michigan back on February 13th.

Hats off to Jason at My Man Mitt…

Jason Bonham of My Man Mitt was at the debate yesterday in Michigan reporting for his site, and I have to say that this is THE best interview that I’ve seen of the Romney brothers thusfar. Jason and I were in Michigan for Romney’s announcement in February (same city actually too), and he does awesome videography. Thanks so much Jason for the great interview.

Here it is…
