No-Drill Stand Is A Dry Hole For Democrats

Are we seeing the beginning of the end for liberal hopes to recapture power after eight years in the political wilderness? The wrong headed energy policies of the Dems have now become symbolized by the humble tire air gauge. It has been said that a politician can survive anything except for becoming a laughing stock. Obama’s recommendation to check our tire’s inflation and to get a tune-up as his prescription for high gasoline prices has now been torn to shreds by every credible source on the subject.

Car maintenance experts are pointing out that, starting in 1985 and especially by 1996, cars DON’T GET TUNE-UPS ANYMORE. Sen. Obama doesn’t know this and he wants to lead 300,000,000 Americans, command the most powerful military in the world and set policies for a $15 trillion economy??

Another ditzy Democrat, Nancy Pelosi, was asked what Congress might be able to do to get a vote on domestic drilling before year’s end and she said politicians should “Use their imaginations.”

Upwards of 75% of the voters are in favor of domestic drilling and yet the Dems will not allow a vote on the issue. A little over a year ago, politicians got on the wrong side of 75% and that was on the issue of illegal immigration. We see how well that worked out for them. McCain pulled a 180 degree change of direction, the fence is being built, 1.3 million illegals have left the country, Chris Cannon has been swept out of office and the rest of the open borders crowd is hiding under their desks.

As John McCain and the GOP leaders nationalize the drill, drill, drill message, the Republican Party might conceivably be riding a summer political rally.

The question of offshore drilling, along with expanded domestic energy production, has suddenly become the biggest political and economic wedge issue of this election. Is there a Republican tsunami in the making?

According to the major polls, Sen. McCain has overcome a big deficit to pull even with Obama. Meanwhile, according to a Rasmussen survey, Democratic Party identification has slumped.

As Republicans on the House floor shouted “vote, vote, vote” and “lower gas prices,” the Democratic majority turned off the lights, cameras and microphones. Determined GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell offered unanimous-consent requests to vote on lifting the ban on deep-water exploration, and the Democrats objected. When McConnell asked Democrats if they’d overturn the ban at $4.50 a gallon, they replied “no.” When he raised the price to $5, $7 and $10, they cried “no,” “no” and “no.”

Obama’s Global Tax

Back in those dark days of early 2007 when the MSM informed us that the nomination of Hillary Clinton was “inevitable” and that she had the “biggest and most professional campaign staff in U.S. history,” I used to say that the best defense against a Hillary Clinton presidency was an open microphone.

Ditto for a Barack Obama presidency as well. The Pubbies can’t make up anything better than what BO comes up with himself. Check out Obama’s latest wild hair as he positions himself to the left of Karl Marx.

Election ‘08:

A plan by Barack Obama to redistribute American wealth on a global level is moving forward in the Senate. It follows Marxist theology — from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

We are citizens of the world, Sen. Obama told thousands of nonvoting Germans during his recent tour of the Middle East and Europe. And if the Global Poverty Act (S. 2433) he has sponsored becomes law, which is almost certain if he wins in November, we’re also going to be taxpayers of the world.

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times . . . and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama has said. “That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

Oh, really? Who’s to say we can’t load up our SUV and head out in search of bacon double cheeseburgers at the mall? China? India? Bangladesh? The U.N.?

In an Obama White House, American sovereignty will become an endangered species. The Global Poverty Act is the first toe in the water of global socialism.

Media: The gaffes Barack Obama has committed would have crushed the typical Republican politician. But the reporters who can’t get over Dan Quayle’s misspelling of “potato” have little to say about their man’s slip-ups.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if Obama is really fouling up or simply puffed up when he tries to live up to his media-fed image as a leader ready for prime time.

Consider his claim during a news conference Wednesday in Israel that “just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, which is my committee, a bill to call for divestment from Iran.”

His committee? Obama isn’t even a member of the Banking Committee, let alone its chairman. So was it a self-promoting lie or a misstep? Only he knows.

In other cases, however, it’s clear the junior senator from Illinois has erred. It was Obama — and not a too-old-to-serve John McCain or a too-dopey-to-take-serious George W. Bush — who once said he’d visited 57 states, not including Alaska and Hawaii, and still had “one left to go.”

It was also Obama who said Tuesday from Amman, Jordan: “You know, it’s always a bad practice to say ‘always’ or ‘never’ ” — a statement only Yogi Berra could fathom but which those aboard O-Force One seemed to regard as incontestably profound.

The Pervasive Power and Far Reaching Influence of CommittedToRomney.Com Extends to Salt Lake City, Utah

July 22nd, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Alaska, Energy, IBD Editorial, Mitt Romney, Rush, Rush Limbaugh

I was tempted to refrain from posting the results of a couple of my articles on the TribTalk site from last week because of my deep seated modesty when I thought….No, it’s not fair for me to with hold the results of our collective efforts to influence the body politic, just to satisfy my natural humility. :)

That being said, I thought it might be fun to take a look at how our conservative message resonates even on one of the most liberal sites that I am aware of.

Wasn’t it great news when Rush’s mega contract was announced? Talk about a win-win situation. Only One Choice in Face of Nuclear Terror

June 8th, 2008 | 12 Comments | Posted in Barack Obama, IBD Editorial, Iraq, Israel, John McCain, War

I just came across this brief editorial by one of my favorite writers, the immensely talented Dr. Thomas Sowell. What he had to say was grim…….and timely. If you have been following the fighting between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah, you know that Iran has no scruples about giving missiles and other armaments to people who use them against innocent civilians. We also know that our military personnel in Iraq are being killed and maimed by IED’s provided by Iran.

So, it should come as no surprise that the Mullahs of Iran will with hold no good thing in their soon to be developed nuclear arsenal from terrorists bent on destroying first Israel and then the United States of America.

Please take the time to read this article so that you will have this information as you prepare to cast your vote in the Presidential elections.

By: Dr. Thomas Sowell

Our one window of opportunity to prevent this will occur within the term of whoever becomes president of the United States in 2009.

At a time like this, we don’t have the luxury of waiting for our ideal candidate or of indulging our emotions by voting for a third party candidate to show our displeasure — at the cost of putting someone in the White House who isn’t up to the job.

Sen. John McCain has been criticized in this column many times. But, when all is said and done, he has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America.

On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting our enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him. The choice between him and Barack Obama should be a no-brainer.

Man of Conviction

If you haven’t been following the story of Obama’s Chicago pal and campaign contributor, Tony Rezko, go on over to the INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY WEBSITE and check out yet another of Obama’s questionable liaisons.

My question to Obama supporters is: “Given the kind of dubious characters your candidate surrounds himself with, what kind of person would a President Obama appoint as his Attorney General?”

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, May 27, 2008 4:20 PM PT

War On Terror: They said the surge would fail. They claimed we had no allies. They called Iraq a quagmire. They sought to cut and run. Now, our victories over terror are accelerating across the world.

I love this quote from the end of the article: IT’S A BAD TIME TO BE A TERRORIST.

Quelling The Grand Old Panic

I have always considered myself a Wall Street Journal loyalist and I always will be at heart, but Investor’s Business Daily is coming on strong. Another wonderful piece that should be required reading for the Republican National Committee.

Politics: Some Republicans fret that special-election losses portend disaster for their party this fall. But the most radical Democratic presidential nominee ever is actually a golden opportunity for the GOP to win big.

Ronald Reagan used to say the key to GOP victory was presenting voters with “a banner of bold, unmistakable colors, with no pastel shades.” Now, with Barack Obama as the Republicans’ likely opponent this November, there’s no excuse for pastel.

The fashionable notion is that the silver-tongued Obama will generate a coattail effect helping other Democratic candidates. Therefore, Republicans should be scared stiff and hope for the unlikely nomination of Hillary Clinton. But that’s nonsense.

We’re (Still) No.1

May 6th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in IBD Editorial, Newsweek, Ronald W. Reagan

Short article, but excellent points made about the litany of criticism that comes from the MSM about America’s perceived faults. To hear them tell it, this country has been on a downward slope for decades and that it’s only a matter of time before America passes from the world stage, not with a bang but with a whimper.

I beg to disagree. Hopefully you do, too.

America’s Role: Newsweek thinks the U.S. is fading in a “post-American world.” We beg to differ. We are still Reagan’s shining city on a hill. As in earlier times, reports of our impending demise are greatly exaggerated.

We are still quoting Reagan’s soaring rhetoric.

Perhaps cover stories such as Newsweek’s explain it. We will not drink from their half-empty glass.

Indeed, we will not.

The Soviets were going to bury us, remember? We buried them.

Throw The Bums Out

Elections: U.K. voters resoundingly rejected the Labour Party in local elections last week. It was no capricious shift, but a citizen revolt against trendy carbon and nanny-state taxes that empower only bad government.

The article points out that other Western European countries are “throwing the bums out” as well. Could this be a harbinger of things to come for the U.S.? Maybe we will retire some of our gleeful tax and spenders this November.

Here’s hoping.

~~John Cronin~~

The “very big moment,” as Tory chief David Cameron put it, echoed conservative victories in France, Germany, Sweden and Italy and signaled Britain’s alignment with them. The reason was also largely the same — costly, overweening and unresponsive government that does what big governments do best: fail.

A Woman? Sure! — A Black Man? Sure! — A Mormon? H*** No!

Flag Waving

Some pictures are worth more than a thousand words!

Is it not true that, as Americans, just about every person alive who can vote would not hesitate one second (so they say) to vote for a black man or a woman for President? That this country has progressed over the decades to the point where racial bigotry and gender discrimination are considered relics of the past? We know that both forms of bigotry still exist, but to a much smaller degree than in years past. And yet, religious intolerance, one of the great evils that drove people to found this nation, is still the most conspicuous, insidious, and unspeakable forms of bigotry that pervades this nation!

If you don’t believe me, get a copy of ARTICLE VI — The Movie and tell me I am wrong.

There are still millions in this great nation who are religious bigots beyond comprehension — sorry to say.
