Here is an open forum for our readers to provide links to Romney polls to vote in and to provide links to pro Romney articles and anything else that you feel will help to promote a Mitt Romney candidacy in 2012!
Several of our readers suggested this forum because so many good links were being “lost” on the chatbox because at times the traffic is so heavy there.
I’ll put this post up every Monday morning for our readers convenience, so everybody, please feel free to post any helpful links that you come across.

Keene and Romney at CPAC |
A great amount of chatter around the ‘Net this evening commenting, in a nutshell, that Mitt Romney is “running.” Told ya!
Listen to the rock star reception that Mitt was given as he was introduced by David Keene. Gov. Romney hit all the right chords of conservatism. Something that struck me about his CPAC speech was that he sounded very much like the same Mitt Romney that I personally heard speak several times when I worked the Iowa Caucuses in Des Moines over a year ago. He sounded very much like the Mitt Romney that I heard making stump addresses and very much like the same Mitt Romney in last years’ debates. My point being that, regardless of the baseless and spurious charges leveled against him by the MSM, Gov. Romney delivers the same conservative message, whether he is “preaching to the choir” at CPAC, or stumping for votes in Keokuk, Iowa.

Common Sense on Military Affairs from former Gov. Romney |
The date on this video says 2008, but that has got to be a mistake. It should be 2007, I just wanted to point that out. More reasoned and common sense policy on military affairs from former Gov. Romney.

If you are a Mitthead like all of us at CommittedToRomney are, boy, do I have a YouTube video for you!
Just came across this video a few minutes ago and knew I had to post it as quick as I can get it on the site. I also have the names of three of our regular commenters in mind as I get ready to post this. Unless I miss my bet, these folks will be in tears as they view the video. Not that it’s subject matter is at all sad, I just know these three.
The video sums up how we feel as grassroots activists as we start advance preparations for 2012. Enjoy!

Heads up from our stalwart commenters at COMMITTED TO ROMNEY. Mitt Romney will make a guest appearance on Hannity tonight. Tune in to see and hear the Republican frontrunner for 2012.
Some conservatives blew it in 2008, but as the old saying goes, “If you just have to make a mistake, at least make it a new one.” If we are lucky enough to have Gov. Romney available to run in 2012, this time around, lets pick a genuine conservative who has actually accomplished something in his life!!

Illegal Immigrants Stay in U.S. Despite RecessionJanuary 14th, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in Governor Romney, Illegal Immigration, Immigration, Mitt Romney

Because we have taken a hard line line on illegal immigration, as Gov. Romney did during the 2008 primary season, we have had to defend our positions on illegal immigration on several occasions.
One debate point that has come up frequently is: “What are you going to do, get 12 million people on buses and drive them back to the Mexican border?” The answer is: “We won’t have to do anything. Just turn off the jobs magnet and they will deport themselves.”
Turning off the jobs magnet produces results in two stages. The first stage is that, as the article states, the word gets out fast that the United States of America is not hiring and so illegals don’t come here in the first place. The second stage is that illegals already here will start self-deporting as they lose their jobs and are unable to find other work because of e serious recession. In fact, their was a report several months ago that the government estimated that over 75,000 illegals had already left the country voluntarily.
When you can escape the mismanagement of your own economy by a corrupt government, come here for wages that are 10 times what you can get back home, receive free medical care at tax payer expense and up until a few months ago, buy a new home with no money down, no credit check, while earning $10/hr., why on earth would you not come here???
They did come here, in droves, but we can now see very clearly that we, with the help of insane government policies and subsidies, created a fool’s paradise. As anyone who has to work for a living can tell you, paradise is emptying out.

WASHINGTON – Illegal immigration to the U.S. may be slowing, but undocumented migrants who are already here aren’t likely to return home en masse barring a more severe economic downturn, according to a study to be released Wednesday by the Migration Policy Institute in Washington.
The nonpartisan group also found that the recession hasn’t limited legal immigration, because most of those people come to the U.S. on family-based visas that take years to secure.Demographers have found since last year that the growth of the foreign-born population in the U.S. began slowing when the recession started at the end of 2007. Net illegal immigration is dropping to near zero, according to the institute and other groups. [Editor's note: emphasis mine]
But Wednesday’s study concludes that it is premature to expect a wave of returnees to home countries, even in Latin America. The study looked at current and historical data, finding “there is no definitive trend so far that can be tied in a significant way to the U.S. economic conditions.”
Instead, the institute found that even in the toughest economic times, illegal immigrants are likely to search for lower-paying work, then move within the U.S. to find other work, before considering a return home. Economic conditions in their native countries compared with those inside the U.S. also weigh more heavily in decisions about whether to return, the study’s lead author, Dimitrios Papademetriou, said.

In case you haven’t been on the site for a couple of days, ( what were you thinking? ) I wanted to post another “heads up” on our eagerly anticipated Mitt Romney in 2012 Brainstorming Session, set for Tuesday, December 16 at 9 PM Eastern.
We will be exchanging ideas on how to spread Gov. Romney’s conservative message and also ideas on how best to use the Internet and traditional media outlets to keep the Governor’s name and political ideas in the limelight. Some might say that we are very early in the process to start beating the drums for our candidate, but I can think of two potential rivals who don’t agree with that assessment.
When you come on the site, you can submit your ideas in the comments section of the post that I will have up that day or you can blog live with us on the chatbox that is available on the right side of the site.
We are looking forward to having a lively discussion, I think it will be fun and informative. See you right here Tuesday, December 16th!

Vice chairman of the Utah Republican Party Todd Weiler on why Gov. Mitt Romney (R), not Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), has the upper hand in Utah for 2012:
“The conservative base in Utah, I think they’re still looking forward to a Romney run in 2012,” Weiler said. “I’m not surprised people aren’t lining up to jump on the Palin bandwagon just yet.”
Weiler said the success of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake guarantees Romney will “always be Utah’s favorite son. If he wants to run, he’s going to have a home base here. Just being Mormon is not enough.”
During the Republican primary, Romney carried the state with 89.5 percent of the vote, a much higher share than the 51 percent he earned in Massachusetts.
Romney won a total of 11 states during the primary including — you betcha — Alaska, where he garnered 36 percent of the vote.

Let Detroit Go BankruptNovember 20th, 2008 | 15 Comments | Posted in Business, Business and Economic Expansion, Governor Romney, Jobs, Mitt Romney

I Googled Gov. Romney’s NYT article on his advise to let Detroit’s auto industry go bankrupt and I found that there were 39,500 entries for “Romney Detroit Bankruptcy.” Since a conservative Republican like Mitt Romney could never in his wildest dreams count on the political support of the UAW, I guess he is completely free to speak his mind.
Although no American of goodwill takes any satisfaction in the plight of the auto industry and it’s workers, the sooner the bloated cost structure is jettisoned, the sooner a leaner, meaner American auto industry can re-emerge. I sincerely hope the industry is allowed to restructure itself and can come back with great cars and trucks that can compete with anything on the market and that the “Made in America” stamp on our products can once again become the envy of the world.

If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed.
Without that bailout, Detroit will need to drastically restructure itself. With it, the automakers will stay the course — the suicidal course of declining market shares, insurmountable labor and retiree burdens, technology atrophy, product inferiority and never-ending job losses. Detroit needs a turnaround, not a check.
I love cars, American cars. I was born in Detroit, the son of an auto chief executive. In 1954, my dad, George Romney, was tapped to run American Motors when its president suddenly died. The company itself was on life support — banks were threatening to deal it a death blow. The stock collapsed. I watched Dad work to turn the company around — and years later at business school, they were still talking about it. From the lessons of that turnaround, and from my own experiences,
I have several prescriptions for Detroit’s automakers.
First, their huge disadvantage in costs relative to foreign brands must be eliminated. That means new labor agreements to align pay and benefits to match those of workers at competitors like BMW, Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Furthermore, retiree benefits must be reduced so that the total burden per auto for domestic makers is not higher than that of foreign producers.
That extra burden is estimated to be more than $2,000 per car. Think what that means: Ford, for example, needs to cut $2,000 worth of features and quality out of its Taurus to compete with Toyota’s Avalon. Of course the Avalon feels like a better product — it has $2,000 more put into it. Considering this disadvantage, Detroit has done a remarkable job of designing and engineering its cars. But if this cost penalty persists, any bailout will only delay the inevitable.
Second, management as is must go. New faces should be recruited from unrelated industries — from companies widely respected for excellence in marketing, innovation, creativity and labor relations.
The new management must work with labor leaders to see that the enmity between labor and management comes to an end. This division is a holdover from the early years of the last century, when unions brought workers job security and better wages and benefits. But as Walter Reuther, the former head of the United Automobile Workers, said to my father, “Getting more and more pay for less and less work is a dead-end street.”
Romney’s Role In The RNC RaceNovember 16th, 2008 | 23 Comments | Posted in Governor Romney, Michigan, Mitt Romney, RNC Chair, Republican Party

Interesting article gossiping about a possible Romney role in the selection of one of his allies as the next chair of the RNC. If this story is true, IMHO, it lends further credence to Gov. Romney’s continued interest in making another run in 2012.
~~John Cronin~~
http://thephoenix.com/BLOGS/talkingpolitics/archive/2008/11/14/romney-s-role-in-the-rnc-race.aspx
It now appears true that Fred Thompson really does want to be chair of the Republican National Committee; Thompson obviously doesn’t expect to do any actual work, so the quickly-travelling rumor is that Thompson plans to run as a team with Chuck Yob, long-time political kingpin in Michigan, with Thompson taking a more ceremonial “general chair” title, and Yob actually running the operation.
I can only hope this rumor is true; this could turn the RNC chair battle into a very ugly — and entertaining — affair.
As you might imagine, 2012 GOP Presidential hopefuls have a significant interest in who gets picked to head up the party. I assume — as do others here and there in the rumormongering biz — that Mitt Romney is behind the candidacy of Michigan Chair Saul Anuzis. (Mike Huckabee has a horse in the race: his former campaign manager Chip Saltsman. Other potential nominees have surrogates in the mix as well.)
You can probably guess that Thompson is not a big fan of our former governor, because of the way reporters were talking about how all of the GOP candidates hated the Mittster. One particular sign was that, after it was clear that he was out of contention, Thompson remained in the Presidential race through the Florida primary in what seemed like a deliberate strategy to draw conservative votes from Romney and help his buddy McCain win that crucial state.
Oh, but that’s nothing compared to the enmity between Romney and the aforementioned Yob. Yob headed up McCain’s Michigan campaign in the primary against Romney. But that’s just the latest. I highly recommend this account (in the second half of the article) of how Yob prevented Mitt’s brother Scott from becoming the state’s Attorney General in 1998. That was four years after Yob helped defeat Scott’s wife Ronna Romney in the Republican primary for US Senate. Do you think Mitt remembers that kind of thing?
You’ll also get a flavor from that 2006 story of how much love is not lost between Anuzis and Yob. Since then, Yob attempted to oust Anuzis as Michigan party chair — Anuzis not only beat down the attempt, but then helped oust Yob from his post as Michigan’s RNC National Committeeman, which he had held for eight years.

On page A8 of this morning’s WSJ is a story that I have been anticipating since Gov. Romney’s speech at the CPAC convention this past February when he announced his withdrawal from the primary race.
Here are a few excerpts from the article.
~~John Cronin~~
Wall Street Journal Print Edition Nov.3, 2008
Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has worked aggressively in recent months on behalf of Sen. John McCain and dozens of his party’s congressional candidates, in an effort that could help boost his own political future.
Mr. Romney has been among the most active foot soldiers. Come Tuesday, he will have hit nine states in the final five days of the election on behalf of the Republican presidential nominee. Since April, Mr. Romney has campaigned for candidates in 28 House races, five Senate races and a pair of gubernatorial ones. He has contributed more than $400,000 through his political-action committee, including help for about 80 Republican candidates, said Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom.
Mr. Romney’s PAC has contributed to a number of ballot initiatives, Mr. Ferhnstrom said. The committee, called Free and Strong America, spent $10,000 to support the anti-gay marriage initiative in California and $5,000 in Massachusetts to fight a movement to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana.
State parties have also benefited. After Sen. McCain unofficially withdrew his campaign from Michigan, Mr. Romney contributed $50,000 to the state party. He made similar contributions in Iowa and Georgia.

Always good to hear from the Chairman of the Board, in my case, that would be Gov. Romney. He has labored diligently in the “Republican vineyard,” to use an expression I heard from a veteran politician years ago and now, come what may Nov. 4, he is the new leader of the Republican Party.
Now its on to 2012 and let’s win then!
~~John Cronin~~
John,
Right now, I’m on a plane somewhere over Nevada en route to New Mexico. We’re in the midst of an exciting five-day, eight state tour to rally support for the McCain-Palin ticket. This trip will take us across the interior west, through the heartland states of Missouri and Indiana, then on to the battlegrounds of Ohio and Pennsylvania, before ending in New Hampshire with an Election Day rally in the blue-collar city of Manchester.
With your support, we’ve targeted dozens of races and poured our resources into them, starting at the top of the ticket with John McCain and Sarah Palin but also dozens of important congressional and state races. We’ve held fundraisers, sent out direct mail, stumped in the districts, held news conferences and basically pulled out all the stops.
But, in the end, it comes down to you. Your vote will make a real difference. The liberal turnout machine, with special interests and big labor providing the grease, is expected to put thousands of people on the ground to get out their vote. Conservatives need to fight back with a super-size turnout of our own. This is where you come in. Take a moment to go to our website,
FreeStrongAmerica.com, and review our list of endorsed candidates. Then, on November 4th, please vote for those who appear on the ballot in the area where you live.
I don’t have to tell you how critical this election is for the future of America. We can either follow the course of Europe, with higher and higher taxes and more and more government in our lives, or we can reaffirm our nation’s founding principles of individual liberty and freedom.
If liberals capture the White House and increase their majorities in the House and Senate, it would be a real setback for the issues we care about - the appointment of conservative judges, getting ourselves off foreign oil, the protection of life, the importance of lower taxes and the need to rid the federal budget of wasteful spending and pork.
Finally, I’d ask you to also consider making a contribution to the Free and Strong America PAC. With your ongoing support, we can continue to advocate for candidates and ideas that will strengthen our economy, our military and our families.
Thank you for all you have done.

I remember very well the keynote speeches delivered at both Conventions in 2004. I remember being impressed with the rhetorical skills of Barack Obama. I said to a friend at the time. We’ll being hearing from him again.
I also was very impressed with the Republican speakers as well. Although I don’t like his positions, I remember Arnold Schwarzenegger was very effective in telling us why he loved this country and how grateful he was to live here.
There can be no doubt that a powerful speech at one of the major party conventions can be a career maker for a politician with national ambitions. Here’s wishing Gov. Romney the very best when he gets his chance to speak to the delegates and to the nation. Judging from his acclaimed performances at back to back CPAC conventions, I fully expect that Mitt will hit it out of the park!

Two Massachusetts politicians — Gov. Deval Patrick and former Gov. Mitt Romney — are being counted on to create a buzz at national political conventions in the next two weeks.
Patrick, not quite halfway through his four-year term as Massachusetts governor, is scheduled to address the Democratic National Convention in Denver tomorrow night. A sizzling speech could elevate his national profile.
Romney, who served one term as Massachusetts governor, is on the list of those being considered for John McCain’s running mate. Romney is scheduled to speak Wednesday, Sept. 3, the second-to-last night of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.
For Romney, who could join a McCain administration or return as a presidential candidate in 2012, the stakes couldn’t be higher. But Patrick, too, could make a splash. He insists he plans on running for re-election for governor in 2010, but a well received speech could intensify speculation he would eventually leave to join a Barack Obama administration.
