I want to reiterate my position expressed on this site in the past, that my concern over the situation on our Southern border has absolutely nothing to do with race or ethnicity. It has everything to do with crime, illegal drugs coming into the U.S. and wrecking lives, narco-terrorism and, possibly, national security.

Here is a YouTube video done by a courageous reporter, Sarah Carter, in February of 2006. You will notice that not much has changed in three years.

Please take the time to view this piece and you will understand why conservatives are so concerned about this issue.

In closing, I feel that I should point out that this video is concerned about the drug SUPPLY problem. We are guilty of creating the drug DEMAND problem. Anyone who uses illegal drugs or who is tempted to start needs to consider something. Police officers on both sides of the border are sacrificing their lives to help stem the flow of these deadly drugs. Border patrol agents on the U.S. side are in danger every moment of their shifts. Mexican Army personnel are dying in gunfights with these brutal thugs. The next time you are tempted to light up a joint, remember the real cost of that illicit pleasure in terms of the human suffering connected with its cultivation, smuggling and use.

The British newspaper, The Daily Mail, reports on what is almost a military style assault on the Mexican town of Ciudad Juarez, just across the border from El Paso, Texas.

The drug gangs have gotten so brazen, that they are challenging the Mexican Army for control of that country. Lets wish the soldiers engaged in this fight success and personal safety. What an impasse it has come to when heavily armed soldiers have to be flown into a town that has been completely terrorized by the narco-terrorists.

Armed to the hilt, they came from land and air, determined to restore order to Mexico’s most violent city.

Nearly 2,000 Mexican soldiers and armed federal police poured into the border town of Ciudad Juarez last weekend.

The city - just across from El Paso in Texas - has been ravaged by drug gangs. Just this month 250 people were killed there by hitmen fighting for lucrative smuggling routes.

The soldiers’ mandate is clear - and ambitious.

‘This is to reinforce the operation in general … to eradicate kidnappings, extortion, assaults and homicide,’ army spokesman Enrique Torres said.

The soldiers are the first contingent of as many as 5,000 troops and federal police being sent to Juarez.

Almost 2,500 soldiers and federal police have been there for nearly a year, but they have failed to curb the violence plaguing the city of about 1.6 million people.

President Felipe Calderon’s military operation is supported by the United States, which is concerned the violence could destabilize Mexico, a key trading partner, and spill over the border.

Mexico has deployed some 45,000 troops across the country to try to crush drug gangs, but clashes between rival cartels and security forces killed around 6,000 people last year.

Here is a disturbing video from an organization called FULL DISCLOSURE. I have not heard of them before and so I can’t vouch for the accuracy of their report. I have posted this as a FYI type report and I don’t mean to be controversial, it’s just that I hear from various sources that these activities are really happening, but since I don’t live anywhere near these states, I have to rely on news reports and also on corroboration from readers who do.
