ComMITTed Lunch at Morelia’s

August 1st, 2008 | 15 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

At noon today a few of us ComMITTed to Romney fans got together for lunch at Morelia’s Mexican Restaurant in Murray, UT. It was quite fun as none of us had never met before but, of course, we had an instant bond as Romney supporters. The waitress was quite surprised when we told her that we were all strangers and had never met before.

To the far right is Chris, who stopped in on her way to Vernal (she’s from Syracuse). Next to her are Karen (KKSM) and her husband Ron. Second from the left is Erin, who is working on the team that will soon bring to theater “Article IV - the Movie”. And the fellow with the fading hairline on the left is me.

To Chris, Karen, Ron and Erin, is was great to meet you all and I had such a great time learning about you, and basically learning about the lives of other Romney fanatics out there who are just like me. Keep up the good work. And thanks Karen for planning this little get together.

Fairwell to Huck’s Army

July 29th, 2008 | 19 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

Oh great, I just got banned from Huck’s Army for letting them know that I approved their comments that were waiting in moderation, and thought they had a legitimate claim. I expected to be banned, but what is worse is that they deleted my comment, which was devoid of conflict. You try to help and be cordial and this is what happens?

Well, I’d like to give my fond fairwell to Ken, GrannyT, Debbie, Debra, Linda, and especially Tina, not to mention all the rest at Huck’s Army. My banning notice says that I got banned for not being a Huckabee supporter. Not true. If he were the nominee I would be voting for him in November. If he is the VP nominee I will be actively promoting him over Obama. What is not healthy is this great animus between the two factions. I was only trying to help. But any hint of liking Romney AND Huckabee is I guess not allowed at HA. “Man cannot serve two masters…”

Note to Debra: Orioncev was not the troll you were looking for.

PS: winter.tommy is an anagram for w. mitt romney. Pretty clever, huh?

We’re Back Up

July 9th, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

It looks like Ann Marie, or perhaps Joel, was able to update the site and we are now able to do posts again. We apologize to the readers for the temporary freeze. Ann Marie and her husband were on an extended trip to Florida so we had to wait a little bit for the site maintenance to be done.

Note to blog authors: I will be resetting passwords later this week. I will e-mail you with your new one when I have done so.

Happy blogging!

Vote for Mitt in the VP Madness Poll

May 12th, 2008 | 53 Comments | Posted in Republicans, VP, VP Prospects, Vice President

Sorry folks for the long absence folks, but I am only temporarily back from the dead. My life got many times more hectic about the same time Romney dropped from the race. I’m still reading all the news but am no longer able to report it.

I did want to draw your attention to a certain poll that Hector from Romney Veep Watch has been pushing for a while now. The poll is sort of a play-off format between possible VP candidates. Right now it’s in the second round (out of 5) and Romney is currently losing to Mark Sanford, 55-45.

Voting closes today, so head on over to CQ Politics and vote for Romney in their VP Madness Poll.

If Romney wins, next up is Romney vs. Huckabee.

Aftermath Polls

February 7th, 2008 | 39 Comments | Posted in 2008

It’s a sad day for me, but after watching Romney’s amazing speech at CPAC, I am feeling very good, even encouraged about the future. (Anyone thinking 2012?) In his very gracious speech Romney has almost convinced me to support McCain in the general though I was adamantly opposed before that. I’ll still take time to decide what to do next - but for some reason I am in a very good mood. Maybe it’s because I’m realizing all the extra free time I will have now :)

Anyways, I wanted to get a census on what other supporters are thinking regarding the future of the elections. In some of the questions below I’m an not putting an ‘undecided’ option so not to give you an easy way out.

So tell me..

Poll #17 - Have You Done Any of the Following to Support Mitt?

January 21st, 2008 | 14 Comments | Posted in Fundraising, Mitt Romney, Polls

This is the poll is the brain-child of David Kim, which is good as I have been having a hard time thinking of good polls recently. The purpose of this poll is two-fold: help you see what others have done, and to educate people on all the different ways they can help make a difference for Mitt. If you have questions about any of these please ask in the comments and we’ll update the post to answer your questions.

Anyone get all 13?

WTA=Winner Takes All
split=the delegates will be split by sometimes complex formulas
proportional=delegates will be selected proportional with the amount of votes received

The information above was taken from Wikipedia (schedule) and CNN.com (results). There are several different tallies out there on what the current delegate count is. I used CNN.com’s tally not because it showed Romney with the largest lead, but that it had the most detailed info including ALL delegates that have been awarded so far, and I was able to verify most of the info from the individual state GOP websites.

~Nate Gunderson

Question: In tabulating Delegates, what does the ‘Other’ category mean under GOP primary results?

Answer: (From commenter SGS) Not all delegates are allocated to the candidates based on the states’ primaries. There are about 400 delegates (out of about 2000s) that are reserved to the Republican “insiders”, like state and national RNC leaders. They normally do not declare who they are in favor of until the party convention. But they can do so at any time.

Race Far From Over, Time to Gear Up for the Long Haul

January 18th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in 2008, Fundraising, Mitt Romney

The GOP presidential race has turned out far different than anyone could have foreseen. It seemed for so long the race would be Romney vs. Giuliani - Early Primary State Strategy vs. Big State Strategy. Things have not gone as exactly planned where folks in the Romney Camp had hoped for complete sweeps in the primary — leading to insurmountable momentum aimed to penetrate Giuliani’s big state “firewall”.

But, the Governor finds himself in an extremely competitive position due to his early state strategy. He has currently gained more electoral and votes than any other candidate. Giuliani’s firewall has been brought down due to the climbs of Romney, Huckabee and McCain. The race is close and well fought, and therefore EXPENSIVE. And… It will continue to be so because there is no clear front-runner. Regardless of who wins NV, SC, and FL, I don’t think a single candidate will be out of contention before the Feb. 5th Super-Tuesday.

Herein lies Romney’s advantage. The whole scope of the race has changed. It is very, very likely that there won’t even be a front-runner even after Feb. 5th. The longer the race takes the more each candidate will run low on fuel. No one has received more money, from more people in personal campaign donations than Governor Romney! He has a broad base that has done well to finance him. The Governor has also shown his willingness to contribute in like manner to match the commitment of his supporters.

This is call for all to continue to support the Governor in his Campaign!

CLICK HERE TO DONATE TO GOVERNOR ROMNEY ONLINE

The link above will take you to the campaign’s secure website to make a credit card contribution. If you would like to make payment by other means the link above will show you how to do so.

I’ve been encouraged by a number of you who have noted in the comments that you have made payments recently. Thanks for taking the initiative. I hope this will encourage others to do so.

Press Release found here.

…Tomorrow, I will offer my ideas on how to most effectively grow this economy in the short term. It is critical for every American that Washington quickly debate, pass and sign into law a pro-growth stimulus package.

Can’t wait to hear what he suggests.

Mitt has Run-In with AP Reporter Glen Johnson

January 17th, 2008 | 46 Comments | Posted in 2008, Glen Johnson, Media Appearances, Mitt Romney, Video

Gov. Romney maintains his dignity while Johnson loses his composure.

.

More footage here. At the end there if more discussion not shown in the video above.

.

I won’t write much of this but will refer you to a good write-up done by Jon at Blogs for Mitt. Here’s part of what Jon had to say:

Maybe life on the campaign trail is getting to Glen Johnson. Maybe he’s been relegated to a middle seat in the back of the campaign trail. Whatever the reason may be, his behavior in this situation is disgraceful. You don’t see this coming from Liz Sidoti, Michael Luo, or any of the other MSM reporters assigned to cover Mitt. While each of them may have their own personal bias and issues, at least they keep them to themselves. Last time I checked, the job of a reporter is to report, not to challenge a candidate to a verbal duel. Regardless of that fact, Johnson lost this duel.

Memo to Glen Johnson: Words mean things. Mitt means what he says when he tells you who runs his campaign. It’s his campaign organization – you don’t have better insight into it than he does. It’s called a vacation. Consider one. End Memo.

~Nate Gunderson

BTW - Thanks to Nevadagirl for the heads up on the video.

UPDATE:

Click here for a post from the past about Glen’s Agenda Journalism called:
Associated Press’ Glen Johnson = Hack
Headlines are all the matters - What More Need I Say?
Glen Johnson – Same Garbage, Different Article

Rush Limbaugh: “Pure Hit Piece” Referring to AP Article on Polygamy in Romney’s Past
Can you believe this?

So Glen, Both Rush Limbaugh and Hugh Hewitt have said that you are a Hack Reporter with an agenda. Is Rush a Sr. Romney strategist?

Update: I was able to verify the delegate counts for Michigan. It required adding 10 for Romney, reducing McCains by 4, and adding 1 to Huckabee. The new totals are reflected in the tables below.

Noteworthy: Romney has received more than half of all delegates awarded at this time.
