Mike Huckabee Evades Mitt Romney
January 5th, 2010 Posted in Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Presidential Politics, Primaries & Caucuses, Republican Nominee, YouTube
Here’s a blast from the past. I remember how furious I was at Huckabee when he refused (like all tax and spenders) to answer a simple question with a simple answer. Mitt Romney asked him if he raised taxes in Arkansas and it was like root canal trying to pull the truth out of him. After three or four tries Pastor Mike finally ‘fessed up about the confiscatory tax rates he had always believed in as Gov. of Arkansas.
As Romney likes to say: “Facts are stubborn things” and the fact is that Pastor Mike raised taxes in Arkansas and he will raise them nation wide if we are naive enough to give him the opportunity.

Governors are elected to operate their states in the manner necessary to best serve the people. Massachusetts and Arkansas are very different states, with very different people, with very different needs. In Arkansas, for example, Huckabee inherited a state whose Interstate road system and bridges had been allowed to deteriorate for decades. On his watch, something finally had to be done about it. The difference between Gov. Huckabee and Gov. Romney is that Huckabee actually governed. He did the job, and served the people, instead of just using it to pad a presidential resume.

Why did it take trhee or four tries to pull the truth out of him?
If we are proud of our record, it seems logical to expect that we won’t try to hide it.

BSR Romney got Mass. out of debt and left them with a rainy day fund. That is a record he is proud to stand by.

BSR- Romney was in a liberal state and the liberals in that state got what they wanted. They got a health care plan that had been changed from the one that Romney brought to the table. But that is what they wanted. Romney delivered a health care program because he said he would. He believes that health care should be left to the individual states.

I will back Tracey up on the healthcare point. As a citizen of MA; I am supporter of our healthcare plan.
Are there some issues regarding costs? Sure. However, those issues have been pointed out by Romney himself time and time again. Romney suggested several solutions in an op-ed on the WSJ.
Any issues that we have with our healthcare plan will be long gone by 2012. Charlie Baker, former CEO of Harvard Pilgrim, is highly likey to be elected this year. Baker has made reform of our healthcare plan a top priority in his run for office.
