“Governor Romney Continues to be a Tremendous Asset to the Republican Party”
The title of this post comes from a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, but could have come from anyone of tens of thousands of Party activists across the country. There have been some press reports of friction between loyalists within the Romney camp and the McCain/Palin camp, but whether or not those reports are even true, it bears repeating what I believe is an undeniable truth: Gov. Romney has been selfless and untiring in his support for the Republican ticket in this election and deserves our gratitude and admiration.
Is part of this dedication due to the Governor’s ambition to run for the nomination again in 2012? I sure hope so!! As I look around at the party’s potential leaders in the next election cycle, I see some very promising individuals for the future. By “the future” I mean within the next decade, not the next election cycle. Gov. Romney remains head and shoulders above the rest of the party. In terms of financial and business acumen, conservative philosophy, defense and military strategy, pro life credentials and his communication skills. Everybody else remain a distant second, at best. And some of the so called “contenders” for the nomination next go around are, IMHO, not even Republicans in the way the word has traditionally been defined.
Gov. Romney’s appearances for the McCain/Palin ticket and for Congressional candidates and incumbents have been so numerous that I don’t post many of them due to time constraints. He has personally donated $70,000 according to reports and has raised over $20,000,000 for the ticket.
During this time of service to his party, what have been the contributions of some of his rivals for the nomination? With the exception of Rudy Guiliani, most of them have been AWOL.
As we go into the final days of this election, I know that I am far from alone in looking forward, with great enthusiasm, to a major leadership role for Gov. Romney within the republican Party and hopefully a successful run for the nomination in 2012.

Well, it seems the anti-Mitt cronies are already gearing up to reuse all the lame logic and lies they used during the primary and veep speculation.
It’s almost laughable that some are now claiming Mitt is not trying to help out the McCain/Palin ticket and is actualy running a covert operation to shoot down Palin!
I guess we better get used to that kind of garbage.
Maybe we should learn from Obama and build the biggest and badest “Truth Squad” website in preparation for whatever Mitt has in mind be that helping get people elected in 2010 or running again himself in 2012 or 2016.

I’m in! How and when do we get started?
October 29th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Count me too! This stuff needs to stop. We lost the presidency (and I don’t mean just Mitt… the entire GOP lost) because of this petty and bitter one-sided fighting from one group.
October 29th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
I’m in, as well. Whatever it takes. Mitt is way to talented not to have the priviledge to run this country. He is the perfect role model, the best well rounded talent to set foot into the White House, Many feel that way. He has done an exceptional spokesperson job, for JM. What an advocate for our party. Sucked up his loss, and worked very hard to get many republicans elected. He is a noble, wise, and compassionate. He is OUR MAN MITT!
October 29th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
Mitt is THE Man!! I’m so proud to be a supporter of his. I often go read at Huck’s Army and wow, they just HATE Romney. They are terribly mean-spirited about him over there and I would not be surprised if some of Huck’s supporters were in on the latest Mitt smear about his team members smearing Palin. It’s crummy!
Anyway, quite a while ago, I registered at Huck’s Army and didn’t hear back from there for a very long time. Finally, a week or two ago, they approved me. So… last night (after getting sick and tired of reading about Mitt.. I posted.
It was a long post in his defense and I quoted many of the posts there at their forum. It wasn’t a hateful or mean post in any way. I was just standing up for Mitt Romney. Well needless to say, I was almost immediately banned from their forum LOL I’m sure my post was deleted just as fast too. Sheesh!!
I saved my post in a word document. Before I was banned, I was able to see that at least 4 people had viewed it LOL
Anyway, the bigots are never going to go away but we just have to stay strong and fight hard for what is right for this country. I don’t know what Mitt’s plans are for the future but if he runs again, I’m 100% behind him!
October 29th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
tami,
That’s one of my big points. If you are critical (in a good way, sometimes!) of Huckabee or now, Palin, you are BANNED. We in the GOP no longer enjoy free speech. We must walk lockstep, or else. It’s a pity, really. Having a dialaouge would be a good thing!

I have been a Mitt supporter for over a year and have contributed to his campaign. I have respect for Mitt and what he has accomplished in his life. However, after Mitt’s support of the bailout bill, I became greatly troubled and started to do more research on finding someone who truly understand the constitution and supports it. I have learned, as much as I respect him. he does not “get” the constitution as Ron Paul gets it. We as Latter Day Saints are admonished to uphold the Constitution. Our committment ought to be towards the Constitution not to any candidate. Romney’s support for the bailout is unconstitutional, his response during a debate on what he would do to go to war is to “consult my lawyers,” instead of going to Congress to get approval. I am not here to convince anyone. I just feel that I have the obligation to tell everyone here what I have found out through my researh. Before writing your argument/rebuttal, please google “LDS for Ron Paul” and find out why most LDS keep ignoring Ron Paul, a principled man who has lived what he preached all his life. Then go to youtube and do the same thing. Our constitution is truly hanging by a thread and we need to find someone who truly gets it and understand the role of government. I find it troubling with some of the things that Mitt said about McCain while campaigning for him. He acts like a politician rather than a statesman. He may feel that he needs to do what he does to achieve an end that he can justifies but I can’t buy that. Contrary to that. Ron Paul has ALWAYS told the truth. His words are backed up by a lifetime of noble deeds. Our days of trials are coming and as painful as it seems, I believe we can become a stronger group of people because of it if we so choose, but that will only happen if we align ourselves to truth and to someone who absolutely uphold the Constitution one hundred percent of the time. It is not my intent to offend but I hope my post does not do that.

All: The best way I know to get started is to make a contribution to Gov. Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC.
This will get you “in the loop” and help Gov. Romney support Republican Congressional candidates. Being on that mailing list will mean you will be among the first to know if Gov. Romney decides to make another run for the Presidency. His reputation for fund raising prowess will only be enhanced if he gets off to a quick start in the next cycle and having a large mailing list of loyal supporters is worth it’s weight in gold.
Also, hang with us here at CommittedToRomney for all the latest “lowdown on the showdown.” I am told that Gov. Romney is aware of what we do here and in fact when I met him a year ago and told him I was a contributor to this site he said, “Ann Marie is tireless, isn’t she?” And that was with no prompting from me.
I am also now a member of the Republican National Committee, so some additional helpful information can come from that and well as being a member of a Google group that are huge supporters of Mitt Romney and we continue to stay in contact with each other and keep abreast of what MR is up to.
Keep the faith like Reagan did in 1976 and we will be well positioned in 2012.

That “consult my attorneys” comment was taken out of context by McCain in ads during the primaries. Any president is going to consult with the White House attorneys to see what the best, most constitutional way of going about a big move like what to do about a threat of impending attack. As for Ron Paul, he’s a great guy, with some great and some unrealistic ideas, who is no longer running. You can write him in if it makes you feel better, but he won’t be president. I’m also not a fan of his position on legalizing all drugs, or the fact that he was a frequent guest on the Alex Jones 911-conspiracy troofer nut show and never once argued with the man. I disagree with Mitt big time on the bailout, and I doubt it would have come to that with him in charge, but he was just being a cheesy politician and trying not to wreck things for McCain.
October 29th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Yes, bigmo is right. Romney didn’t want to contradict McCain on the bailout with the election so close. It would have severely damaged McCain to have the real economic guy going against the guy who says he doesn’t know much about the economy. That’s all.
October 29th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Saw the new Obama commerical with Palin winking.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:12 am
So it is okay for Mitt to compromise his integrity and not uphold the constitution under those circumstances then? Can I not count on him to tell the truth ALWAYS?
October 30th, 2008 at 6:09 am
Whatever happened to “choose the right and let the consequence follow? I can understand what his intentions might be but I can never suupport his bailout decision. To me the choice is between standing for truth or standing for Mitt and unfortunately, these two are not the same as I see it.

At this point, it is clear that whoever wins next week, does not have the country behind them. I want Obama, just for the fun factor. the added bennie is that we GOP’s might take the time (after the war for the party) to get our collective acts together. I feel that one of two things will happen: Either the party becomes so fractured, that several parties will emerge from it - promising DNC rule for a LONG time, or we will mend our ways, and open the big tent again and allow disenting opinions and viewpoints. We need to become the party of Linclon and Regan again, and not the party of religious and racial bigots, as we have now evolved into. I voted for Obama not because he’ll make a good president, but because it might make the GOP a better party. With McCain in office, all ‘will be well in zion’, when it is NOT. That’s my 2 cent’s and I’m sticking to it!

Here’s a rumor if mccain loses…i still think mccain could win though:
Then again, some fans have reached out to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, urging him to consider the race, multiple sources say. “There are a lot of people who are asking Mr. Romney to consider it,” said Ron Kaufman, seen as Romney’s biggest backer on the RNC. Still, he was quick to add, Romney “is focused on one thing: Helping McCain win. Call him optimistic, but he doesn’t think this thing is over yet.”
Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom echoed the point. “Governor Romney is pouring all his energy into electing McCain-Palin and other Republicans,” Fehrnstrom said. “He hasn’t expressed any interest in the party chairmanship and he’s taken no steps in pursuit of it.”
My take is i think it would be an excellent spot for romney if mccain lost. Yet, the problem would be getting it, i’m sure anti-romney folks in the GOP would try to derail it. My suggestion would be a truce, ie cut a deal where romney would be GOP chair through the 2010 mid-term elections than leave and chip saltsman, who ran mike huckabee’s campaign and also wants to job right now would take over.
October 30th, 2008 at 9:32 am
I say let Chipper have it. These huckles type have run our party into the gound. Let them finish up, and let Mitt bat clean up.
October 30th, 2008 at 11:05 am
No if romney doesn’t get it, than a huckabee supporter shouldn’t either…I think it would be a perfect thing for him to be GOP chair from 2009-2011 if obama wins, ie give him a platform to counter obama/dems, raise big $’s for the GOP + 2010 should be a big year for the GOP if the dems clean up big this cycle since things always swing back and he would benefit from that…after the mid-terms, declare victory, leave and plan a 2012 run…problem is some in the GOP, ie anti-romney segement, could see this game plan and would veto it even though it helps the party…yet i would think more folks would be in favor than against, so he might be able to get it + if you give it to saltsman after the 2010 cycle, it might smooth feelings…i don’t know how that would work though, maybe romney would need to pledge to only serve through 2010 + there is a risk for him to even run for it since i’m sure some would love to have him run for it, than have him lose.

Here is a link to a Fantastic Mitt speech. He was campaigning for John Gard in Wisconsin. Mitt discusses the four strategies to rule the world. It’s a must see and the speech starts around the 19 minute mark.

$20,000,000 for the ticket!?! Do you mean Romney has raised over 20 millions dollars for McCain/Palin? That is giant!

SGS. Yes, and his reward is have RUMORS spread that he’s the one trying to kill off Palin before this has ended and keep her dead for 12! I think Sarah is doing that herself, with the McCain camp pitching in. Romney is doing what he does best. Stay out of the headlines, and rake in the cash. Pity McCain took public funding, however.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:57 am
You’re right, Christine. You’ve convinced me. Mitt was too much of a pragmatist on one issue, in which case either side he could endorse were both wrong. He should be disqualified from all future political races. He doesn’t belong in Washington with all those with perfect records and unblemished personal lives. Jesus/Ron Paul 2012!!!
October 31st, 2008 at 9:00 am
bigmo,
I am SO glad you got my point!
October 31st, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Christine-Your point is well taken. Ron Paul is a brilliant mind when it comes to the constitution and the economy. Normally I would agree that the gov should stay out of private business and let it work it’s way out. But in this case, the government caused the mortgage mess and the economy fell like the dominoes will. By messing with things, the gov got us into the mess, and therefore I don’t think it is a normal “let it work it’s own way out” type of a problem. I think the hole was too deep for that. McCain is right that the housing market is the heart of the problem and the bleeding needs to be stopped there before the rest can heal on it’s own. I think Mitt knows that too.
Make sense? Anyway, I have my “Mitt Romney in Twenty Twelve” sign ready to put out on Nov 5th !!
October 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Ron,
I appreciate your response. However, I disagree with your view on the bailout. Are you saying the government who got us into this mess all of a sudden know how to get us out of it? About 230 economics professors nationwide signed a petition to President Bush to warn about the bailout. These people don’t have any political agenda. Dozens of market experts, like Jim Rogers and Peter Schiff also strongly disagreed with it. I believe the bailout will not only not solve the problem but will prolong the agony. My biggest reason to be against it that it is unconsitutional and it allowed government interference in the free market. I believe it is Ben Franklin who said “Those Who Would Sacrifice Liberty for Security Deserve Neither.” Mitt supported it and it devastated me. He either doesn’t get the consitution or he is doing it for political reasons. Neither is acceptable to me. Ron Paul’s committment to the constitution, however, is unparalled. He has always voted to stand by and uphold the constitution. I can count on him to always tell the truth. I don’t get that confusing feeling with a lot of things that Mitt said while campaigning for McCain. Everything that Ron Paul has said made sense to me. That’s all.
November 1st, 2008 at 7:46 am
Ron Paul is yesterday’s news. Gone. Blip.
November 1st, 2008 at 10:58 am
Chris,
Shame on you on making such an ignorant comment!! Shame on me to even have been a part of the same group you are in!
November 1st, 2008 at 6:56 pm
christine,
Whatever. How was this a dumb comment? Truth hurts. And I was able to recycle my tin foil hat to cover the crock pot leftovers.
November 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
You know, Chris, I much rather belong to a losing team who has the truth than to a winning team who does not. It is all a matter of perspective anyway. If you have the truth, you will win, regardless what the “mortal scoreboard” may show.

Obama stayed on message. JSM did not. It might be a fun 4. who knows at this point. What I do know is Michelle has so much more class than SP and Toddy.
