Overall I thought this was McCains best performance yet but I don’t believe he swayed anybody. When he talked of Acorn and Ayers he appeared uncomfortable doing, therefore he fell flat on that one.he scored much better on ther need not to raise taxes and how obama is trying to use class warfare. This needs to be his central theme going down the stretch now is class warfare, class warfare, class warfare.Even though it probably won’t be enough.I think he’s going to get beaten pretty soundly and we’ll let the dems finish the job of bankrupting the nation.Even the dems stimulus package is all about medicaid and food stamps which is nothing more than a new spending program.
i’m going to end here because i’m about to start ranting.the only bright spot i can see is with four years of the pelosi, reid,Obama show the nation may be ready to return to their conservative roots that made this country great.

This morning, in the crucial swing-state of Ohio, the Secty of State filed an emergency appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court to fight a lower court order to VERIFY 200,000 possible bogus voter registrations. Ohio Republicans are justifiably angry; calling the Secty “arrogant” with claims she lies to the media.
In last night’s debate, as McCain effectively pointed out that ACORN is in the process of perpetrating the greatest voter fraud in American history that is threatening our democracy, Obama ducked his head and smiled. Meanwhile, another fraudulent Democrat based organization “Vote From Home” has been exposed. I believe this is just the tip of a poisonous spear. See http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/15/voter-fraud-alert-houseful-of-out-of-state-obama-activists-registered-as-ohio-voters-received-absentee-ballots/
I agree with McCain’s assessment. If Romney were the presidential nominee, we would be outraged! We need to actively seek an end to election fraud by raising a hue and cry to all media outlets to end this atrocity TODAY. All scumbag cheaters need to be exposed and prosecuted.
As we envision a Romney candidacy in 2012, NOT doing something NOW to end voter fraud will ensure that our man, Mitt, will most assuredly face these liberal, well-organized election robbers.

Boy - McCain sure does like to come up with things that aren’t really truthful - kind of reminds me of the timetables withdrawal in Florida:

Folks, I feel we had a draw again last night, favoring McCain. I think there were some lies about Acorn affiliation. People have to make up there mind, they want Mccain to go after Obama, he does, they think he is negative. Mccain is right, the route problem is the housing industry. Until we put the blame, or better yet, Mccain puts the blame where it belongs, with Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, etc, etc, and now add the monies given from Fannie and Freddie to Kerry, Obama, Dodd, Reid for campaign donations he has not completed his best shot. Now, just imagine those three Holigans in charge!!!!Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. OMG!!!! In two years they will appoint even more liberal judges, we will kiss goodbye the America we all love and our Founding Fathers intended for us. We will have majority rule and NO balance. This is too much of a risk for my blood. To be honest, Mitt won last night, he was as usual more eloquent than Obama even though he was only advocating for JM. The American’s are blaming the Bush administration, when all the while , the real offenders are using Bush and Wall St. as scapegoats. If they don’t use this for campaign clout, they are foolish!!! To think Our Man Mitt gave a thumbs up to JM says volumes of who he is and what he is made of. Obama has more clouds over his head than Mitt ever had. We best be doing all we can, if we want our future to stabilize, to get JM elected.

Joe the Plumber could be a game changer for McCain, if the media doesn’t discredit him too quickly and he can keep a microphone (ergo national following) long enough. It’s all about influence, and this might be an unexpected October surprise…

JOE THE PLUMBER WINS THE DEBATE. Mentioned 26 times. I can hear Palin now “Way to go Joe.”
October 16th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Voted yesterday. Will be out of the state on Nov 4th.
Ballot would not allow write in, so I figure a non-vote is effectively a “none of the above”. Wrote in against our current US Senator and passed on my Representative. Voted on local issues.
Go Mitt 2012. - P

I think the draw favored Obama, slightly. Mostly because McCAin looked old and bitter. I also think Joe the Plumber will backfire. If the guy is buying a business and in the first year is worried about taxes for profit over 250K, then he’s an idiot for not buying it. Heck, i’d happily pay taxes on 250k!
Rene, I also do not like Palin. I think she peaked about 10 years too soon. I don’t wnat her as veep, president, senator or the ticket taker at Disneyland.

Joe The Plumber 2012!
Yes, he’s REALLY a plumber. Just like electricians and other professions, Joe works under a licensed plumber–not only is it common, but ITS THE RULE to work under a licensed contractor. I know plumbers and electricians who have 10+ guys all working under their license: that’s how they have a “business” rather than a mere “job.”
October 17th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Andrew, if a person does not have the professional certification needed to act as a professional they cannot be referred to with a professional title.
eg. Just because someone attended law school doesn’t mean they are a lawyer. They would have to pass specific exams and be accepted to the bar. Then they could call themselves a lawyer or an attorney.
Architects, engineers, plumbers etc. all need specific certification before they can legally refer to themselves as an architect, lawyer, or yes, the ever shifting McCain campaign strategic title of “Joe the Plumber.” It is part of the articling, or intern process to verify someones qualifications for operating under that specific title and a way for a professional body to collect fees, and keep the professional club profitable.

Stephny,
I drive a very large full sized Ram Van. Seats 12. (all but 2 seats taken up by family. I have a 95 ‘classic’ Mustang GT - covertible, of course. Lives in the garage, mocking me. We also have a small Geo Prism, gets 40 to the gal. My ‘obama’ sitcker simply states “Alaksan Wildlife for Obama”. For me, that sez it all!
Sorry, but If I had the $ to buy a prius, it would not be a practical alternative to my full sized big bad van, which will hold my large, big, bad family!
Have a good day anyway. It’s nice and sunny! Taking kids out to other side of the mountain.

Oh, and when I call a plumber, I make darn sure he/she has a license to do the work I am paying for. Not the dude who owns the business. But the guy tearing my kitchen sink apart.
If Joe actually BUYs that business, he’ll need to have his license. It’s not just a matter of going down to the local and picking it up after the photograph and paying the fee. He’ll have to do stuff and time to get it.
Joe the Plumber is Palin with a shaved head. All water, no plumbing.

Overturning a lower court decision, the Supreme Court issued an unsigned opinion today which sides with Ohio Democrats. The SC opinion states that the Ohio GOP, as a private entity, does not have the right to sue the Ohio Secretary of State. The Supreme Court’s decision addressed a MATTER OF PROCEDURE, not the merits of the case.
Of the 660,000 new voters registered in the crucial swing-state of Ohio, over 200,000 are believed to be bogus. The Ohio GOP wanted the Secty of State, Dem Jennifer Brunner turn over the list of suspected fraudulent registrations to be validated. Brunner refused stating that she didn’t want to spend her time compiling a list and she didn’t care if it was against the law. Brunner also said that the GOP is trying to scare voters.
The Supreme Court opinion did not comment on the “Help America Vote” folks who are also fraudulently registering voters in Ohio.
The bonfire of voter fraud is turning into an inferno that will leave our democracy is ashes. We, the people, need to RISE UP!
HIGH COURT REJECTS GOP BID IN OHIO VOTING DISPUTE
Associated Press 9:13 AM PST

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court sided Friday with Ohio’s top elections official in a dispute with the state Republican Party over voter registrations.
The justices overruled a federal appeals court that had ordered Ohio’s top elections official to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility.
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said lower court rulings have clearly said the HAVA regulations require the secretary of state to match against the list, find where there’s been fraud and inconsistencies and report them to counties.
“Why in the world would that not happen? We have the technology, the budget, the means and the manpower to make that happen. Do we really want to have to find out after the fact that we had counties that would have been decided one way or another because the secretary of state didn’t bother doing the job the HAVA required?” Davis told reporters on a conference call. “I think the secretary of state ought to do her job,” he added.
SECRETARY OF STATE WANTS ACORN IN ARIZONA INVESTIGATED

Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain claimed in the final presidential debate Wednesday that the organization “is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.”
He kept up the attack on Thursday, saying ACORN is being investigated for voter fraud “in every single battleground state” and demanding that Democrat Barack Obama detail his ties to the group.
A handful of ACORN canvassers are currently being investigated across the country by local officials on suspicion of submitting false registration cards, some with names like “Mickey Mouse” or “Donald Duck.”
PA GOP SUES ACORN, STATE FOR ALLEGED VOTER FRAUD
The Associated Press Posted on Fri, Oct. 17, 2008
http://www.philly.com/philly/wires/ap/news/state/pennsylvania/20081017_ap_pagopsuesacornstateforallegedvoterfraud.html
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania’s Republican Party is suing the community activist group ACORN and the state, alleging there aren’t adequate safeguards in place to stop voter registration fraud.
GOP officials say they’re filing their lawsuit Friday in state Commonwealth Court.
The lawsuit asks the court to require prospective voters who filed registration applications through ACORN that haven’t yet been processed to be required to vote by paper, provisional ballots in the Nov. 4 election.
ACORN is being investigated in other states and nationally by the FBI in connection with alleged voter fraud.
In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania ACORN leader Ali Kronley says the group is careful to flag any questionable registration forms but is required by law to turn in any applications that it received.
She says the group has helped 140,000 Pennsylvanians register to vote.

Well, we might have to suffer through 1 more election with voter fraud. Once folks get a true taste of President Obama, we’ll be in like flint in 2 years, and sweep all houses in 12.
It took Carter to get Reagan. It will take Obama to get a true non-certifiable Conservtive like Mitt.

2thepoint - I enjoyed viewing all those videos of Mitt at NY for Mitt!! They’re all great and he should be our next POTUS!!
As for Joe the plumber. He shouldn’t be under so much scrutiny. The important thing is HIS MESSAGE and not how much he makes or whether or not he’s licensed or not. *shakes head*

Thanks, Tami! The Mitt videos were a bright spot in my day, too. I also agree with your comments.
Did you check out the “Ann Romney to speak at MS seminar”? If you click on “full article: The Boston Channel” there’s a nice video of Ann being interviewed (takes a minute or two to load). Ann looks and sounds terrific. I appreciated John Cronin’s post on Ann today, too. Thanks, John!
Mitt and Ann Romney are great Americans!

An excerpt detailing Buckley’s departure from national Review and the waning of conservatism within the Republican Party by Kathleen Parker.
“Radical conservatives are still having an interesting time of it, though these days they are being mutilated by fellow “conservatives.” The well-fed Right now cultivates ignorance as a political strategy and humiliates itself when its brightest sons seek sanctuary in the solitude of personal honor.
The truth few wish to utter is that the GOP has abandoned many conservatives, who mostly nurse their angst in private. Those chickens we keep hearing about have indeed come home to roost. Years of pandering to the extreme wing — the “kooks” the senior Buckley tried to separate from the right — have created a party no longer attentive to its principles.”
October 17th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Kathleen Parker cont . . .
“Instead, as Christopher Buckley pointed out in a blog post on thedailybeast.com explaining his departure from National Review, eight years of “conservatism” have brought us “a doubled national debt, ruinous expansion of entitlement programs, bridges to nowhere, poster boy Jack Abramoff and an ill-premised, ill-waged war conducted by politicians of breathtaking arrogance.”
Republicans are not short on brainpower — or pride — but they have strayed off course. They do not, in fact, deserve to win this time, and someone had to remind them why.”
October 17th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I think I finally understand why everything this year in politics just doesn’t make sense. Why was Mitt not chosen as our nominee? Why did people keep calling him “too perfect”? Why is Sarah Palin such a hit?
America is supposed to be the country that reveres her best and brightest. Exceptional people whose innovative spirit, intelligence, and strength of leadership that led us to be the greatest nation in the world.
However, today I realized that these things don’t matter anymore in the GOP. It is not intellectual acumen or extraordinary qualifications that drives us. Oh no. It is the averageness of the person that matters. It is how “authentic” you accent is or how you can relate to Joe Six Pack on a personal level. Better yet you have to be Joe Six Pack.
There is a fever out there in the GOP and its for Joe the Plummer. I have now read on CNN there is a push to have Joe the Plummer run for Congress. Joe the Plummer, who only a few days ago no one had ever heard about. Joe the Plummer that asked a question of Obama at a rally is now ready to be one of our leaders. This is how far we have fallen in the party. We no long judge or elect on skill or acumen, but on if we identify with the person. We are now officially Democrats.
