Romney Angles For 2012?

October 11th, 2008 Posted in Mitt Romney

From The New Republic

Mike, I wonder how that Romney counterfactual, gloomy for conservatives, improves Mitt’s chances in 2012? Ever since he lost the GOP primary, Romney’s practically redefined the word “obsequious” vis-a-vis McCain. But he seems to feel there’s an opening now to gently suggest that a Romney ‘08 campaign wouldn’t have been such a Hindenburg. This week he took his first, timid step towards criticizing Team McCain, telling Joe Scarborough that “holding Sarah Palin to just three interviews and microscopically focusing on each interview I think has been a mistake.”

One Massachusetts strategist suggested this comment was actually an evil ploy to lure McCain into letting Palin give more interviews, thereby sealing her reputation as an idiot for a forthcoming Romney-Palin showdown in 2012. Say it ain’t so, Mitt! I didn’t think you had such trickery in you!

I don’t know whether to be flattered or angry lol. Romney is smart enough to know what kind of deportment he should have right now. As for Palin in 2012 vs. him…Um, pardon me while I pee my pants due to laughing so hard.

As Rush Limbaugh says, “For those of you in Rio Linda” the definition for Deportment is as follows:

de·port·ment /dɪˈpɔrtmənt, -ˈpoʊrt-/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[di-pawrt-muhnt, -pohrt-]

–noun
1. demeanor; conduct; behavior

When can we get started on the Romney for President 2012 campaign? This time let’s not let anyone stand in our way.(Huck, Palin, McCain)

    Let’s get to work!

Palin could have done a fantastic job reaching out to people, if it was not for McCain micromanage every single word out of her mouth. This was according to more than handful of political scientists who have deep knowledge of Alaska Politics. Or else, she would not be able to stand alone against the Republican Elites and won. She really does know how to reach out. It is McCain that is constricting her!

By the way, it came to Palin’s surprise when McCain campaign announced last week (or was it two already?) that they are withdrawing from Michigan. Palin was asked on the spot by a reporter. She replied that she would send a quick email to McCain, telling him that she and her husband, Todd, is willing to work hard in Michigan. So, this is one of several signs on how well this ticket is working together - NOT! Sadly, all signs point to McCain’s picking Palin only because she could help him win, not because she could help him making this country work.

This is why I was so thrilled when McCain picked Palin, but with those signs so far, to hell with him! He either let Palin be herself, or he can forget my vote.

Palin is a huge turn off for most of the country. She got elected in a state with a very high percentage of single men, lookin for anything in a skirt. When she does open her mouth unscripted, something really stupid and dumb comes out. Her ‘beauty queen’ status really shows when she has to actually form a complete sentance. I am a woman who has never been impressed with Palin. I am hopeing she will go trapsing back to the tundra in about 3 weeks, and never again grace the national stage again.

  5. Chris Says:

And, I can’t spell worth squat.
    Sorry.

And this crap about letting Palin be Palin. Heck, that’s the PROBLEM with Palin. She’s Palin.

IMO dumb as a box of rocks.

Chris, Let me guess who you actually are and what type of females you speak for. I suspect you are a less than attractive female(I choose not to call you a woman on purpose!)who isn’t married and have no inclinations in that direction. How am I doing so far? You’re probably from the East or Left coast and lurk around loon infested coffee shops with your own kind. You’re in favor of Gay “Marriage” just like most of your “friends!” Like most of your kind, you have no job and still live with your parents. You really hate Sarah because she is everything you’re not and never could be! A SUCCESSFUL Woman, Wife, and Mother! And Attractive!

    Wolfagain,

Of course, Palin is an amazing genius - look at her track record. I am convinced that the McCain handlers were THE ONE’S constricting her prized acumen. Most likely her SB scores trended at 180 and her attending 5 undergraduate schools to earn her Bach. Degree was because well, like, for sure, like Einstein totally, her intelligence, is just too much for anyone to pin down, initially recognize or even comprehend.

Contrast this from the words of some troubled soul who wrote - “I can see the end of Palin’s career, from my house.”

Like great artists whose works do not sell for much during their days, Palin’s largess and insights will share the world stage with Vermeer one day, or on the philosophical front at least with Aristotle, Popper, Bloom, Kant and so forth, once she gets free from the restrictive arm of Senator, War Hero, John McCain’s team. I mean after all, where was Sammy Davis Jr. career headed to until he broke free from Frank? That’s Chairman of the Board to you or me.

It is like the majority of intellectual geniuses, or people who change cultures and the way they can influence people and societies to think at large; are ahead of their time. Indeed, the sheer intellectual greatness of Palin appears average or below average to people (lightweights) like Chris Buckley, Kathleen Parker, David Brooks, too name a few - while the enlightened, or the Republican base - you know the one’s where everything is either left, or right, have it all figured out, and buy into the party line that hey, yeah, sure she was a beauty Queen with less than two years experience - but, she is obviously the most qualified person and ready to be President of the United States of America, unlike the black, terrorist, distant cousin of Jefferson, raised to takeover this nation . . . Obama . . . (now for some of you who ate literalists, this is satire)

I mean doesn’t it really only take a couple of years of studying crib notes to be President? And by the way, hasn’t every single solitary dumb thing that has been done in the last few years completely and utterly belong to the Democratic Party.

For this reason alone, Senator War Hero John McCain will sweep to power this year, unfettered with any of the reality that plagues others this year or throughout the ages. It is sort of like Fantasyland. A place where all you dreams can come true. A reality presidential race, for television and the ages.

Even for a beauty Queen that stumbles, at times, because the weight of her IQ, when restricted, is just that heavy . . . that, she (a woman of genius – Presidential timber) will have to get back to you on that . . . but, the next, you betcha moment is waiting to happen just around the corner, or at center ice – where Palin and her soon to be extended family’s prowess lie.

  8. Tracey Says:

My husband and I and many of my relatives have a problem with Palin. Granted she has accomplished a lot in her life time and has earned the SUPERMOM title but she has made some real errors in her interviews and it has left me and many people around me shaking their heads and wondering if she could handle the job of being president. We are not jealous of Palin just concerned that she is out of her league and unqualified to be VP at this very crucial time in our history.

  9. stenny1963 Says:

I believe Palin is a smart woman, but just being smart alone does not make you qualified to be president.McCain picked her to get a bump in the polls figuring Hillary’s supporters would all flock to him.well they did for a week or two but then they went back to where we knew they would go all the time.Mccain blew it when he catered to a few that just couldn’t back a Mormon. With Mitt at his side I’m confident that in this economic mess mccain would be up now though that rise in the polls would have been slow to start with.I’ll end with something ive said alot the last few months. It took four years of Jimmy Carter to bring us Ronald Reagan so if it takes four years of Barak Obama to bring us to Mitt Romney so be it.We’ll survive as a nation just as we did in the late 70’s.

  10. Chris Says:

I agree with most of your post. We can and WILL survive Obama presidency. who knows? it might just be fun!

Welcome to the happy GOP Wandering Society! The wilderness is a good place to be for awhile! (Unless of course, your a wild moose, and it’s hunting season!).

  11. Chris Says:

Wolf. I’ve never entered a beauty pagent, if that’s what your saying. Why would I? I don’t need validation from a studio audience that I’m pretty. But ugly? Hardly. My husband tells me everyday that I am beautiful! I am ‘accomplished’ as well. I am Hardly your typical mormon mom. I’m former Navy, former really cool career, well traveled and now have some special needs kids of my own. I’m teaching my daughters values, morals. I am teaching my sons to respect women and honor them. I am from California, but now live in Utah. I have lived in: Paris, London, San Francisco, Orlando, San Diego, Spain, and Washington DC. I have worked in Germany for several months at a time as well as Iceland, Texas, Hawaii and Italy. My husband is a former special forces type, from the Argentine Army. (He served his country during the ‘dirty war’). I have always been active LDS, my degree is in Music and I have a large family. Today, I am a full time mom, wife, sister and daughter. Today, my children come first. I had my shot at the brass ring, and now, until they are grown and gone, my time is for them. There will be plenty of ‘me’ time later on, when my kids are grown up. I am presently on book 2 of the Chris Stewart series.
So, were you right so far? Not even close.
My situtation/life still does not make Palin even remotely qualifed for Vice President. However, I’ll bet if I were to run….. hummm. nope. my kids need me now. Call me in a few years and we’ll yak about it.

  12. Chris Says:

    Wolfgang.
I failed to mention that in 2001, I worked my butt off in CA to get voters to the polls, to be sure gay marriage does not happen. I’m not in favor of it at all. Treatin gays with respect and dignity, that’s a whole other story in itself. But gay marriage? Not on my watch, as they would say.
