Drudge Gets It, But Then Again Sometimes He Doesn’t…

Remember those Obama/Bayh Bumper Stickers, now Pawlenty getting all this publicity. Now I don’t know who in the world McCain is picking for VP nor have I ever espoused telepathic abilities in that area, but this fawning over what Drudge thinks I think is going a bit over the top. Sure he’s right on a lot of stories, but there are just as many that he gets wrong. So, lets just stay calm everyone. If Romney gets it WONDERFUL, but if he doesn’t…he doesn’t. This speculation is just that. We’ll know when we’re supposed to know.

Just a bit of commentary for what it’s worth.

Its either Mitt or Ms. Palin. I would say it’s not Palin. I doon’t know how often planes fly from Alaska to Ohio. If this is all part of a calculated disinformation campaign, I really salute John McCain. Wow.

  3. Sarah Says:

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I fell asleep about 1 and I woke up literally three or four times…then about 2 I fell asleep until I woke up five minutes ago. I just can’t sleep anymore. I am up and ready to tackle the day or at least until I know who the VP is. I hope my eyes aren’t bloodshot. I should turn off the computer and just relax and try to sleep till 8. Oh if any one else is on and experiencing this please tell me.

  4. JoeinMA Says:

People saying not Romney…even Drudge too. Not sure what the reasoning on this

  5. Sarah Says:

Palin? IF that is the case then I am completely thrown for a loop. I like Palin, I have nothing wrong with Palin but…this is as a much of a dark horse as they come…please oh please let it be that Palin has decided to just show up to endorse McCain and the ticket officially (because I don’t think she has done that yet).

  6. JA Says:

Can’t imagine McCain picking Palin. The woman is under investigation for abuse of power!

  7. JoeinMA Says:

Pandering to women…..give me a break. Pick the most qualified PLEASE!!!!!

  8. SED Says:

Fox has said that Mitt is in Boston and it looks like it definately Palin. Mitt is officially out.

  9. Romney Fan Says:

BREAKING NEWS: NBC News’ Todd reports Romney won’t be at McCain event in Ohio today

Just saw this at http://www.msnbc.com :(

…unless it’s another Mccain campaign headfake!

  10. Tami Says:

Well *sigh* Hmmm, FOX is saying it is not Paw or Mitt. They are quite sure it’s Palin. I like her, the little bit I know about her… but… but… she’s got 5 children, one of which is Downs Syndrome and is under investigation too. Well bummer!

  11. Romney Fan Says:

Rasmussen: Palin up to 81 points, Romney down to 8 points…. must be Palin.

    It must be over.

  12. Chris Says:

It’s not over until the fat lady sings. With Palin, McCain has lost. if it’s a choice between two senators, with someone to care for their children at home, or even grown children, the electroate will go for them.

    Stop the pandering.

    KSL s reporting it’s Mitt.

  13. Douglas M White Says:

If it’s Palin , this just confirms my worst suspicions about Mc. I just can’t vote for Mc in that case. ROMNEY 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Sarah Says:

I can’t sleep! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! The suspension is killing me! Why can’t they just announce now?!

  15. Chris Says:

Me thinks that there may be a bit of a problem at the convention with the delegate vote is counted.

Who else smell revolt in the air?

  16. Paulee & Mike Says:

Paw and Mitt are out, I’m sorry, guys, if it’s Palin, Mccain only cares about winning the White House, not about his country. This woman will be capable of being our President? I’
Hillary years,Palin years, capability? What an idiot! Mccain is a social climbing, user!

  17. ChrisB Says:

The assumption that Mitt’s out is purely speculation. This is not over yet.
    http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/08/29/mccain-to-name-running-mate-on-friday/

“Sources told FOX News that Romney will not be McCain’s choice, even though Romney is scheduled to appear at the Dayton rally.”

  18. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

If Romney is scheduled to appear, then how can he be in Boston?

This is unbearable. I just don’t think that in time of war, McCain would pick someone so obscure when “someone else” is available.

  19. Donna L. Says:

Country First? Mitt gets the nod.

Demographics First? Palin steps up to the plate.

What’s it going to be Senator McCain?

McCain/Demographics 08′ = My woman out trumps your black american

  20. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Palin introduces Romney? It sounds like that scenario in the HotAir thread yesterday. This is insane.

  21. Chris Says:

Laura Igram is now saying it’s sarah

  22. Chris Says:

Brilliant Pick or idiot pick. You be the judge.
I can’t support this ticket. She is NOT ready for prime time.

  23. JoeinMA Says:

    August 29, 2008 8:54 AM

ABC News’ Kate McCarthy Reports: As vice presidential speculation swirls, Gov. Sarah Palin is watching the fireworks from her home in Wasilla, Alaska.

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/08/mccain-vp-conte.html

  24. Chris Says:

    Chris B.
I think it’s over. Over and out. I think McCain just lost the election. Utah won’t vote for a woman with 5 kids and responsiblities. I know I won’t. I’d rather have 4 years of obmanation. It won’t be that bad. (Ok, it can be bad… but in 2 yrs well get a gop congress to fix stuff.) KLO is now reporting that late last night Romney was told he was not it.

  25. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 7:09 am

    Palin
from The Corner by Kathryn Jean Lopez
ABC says she’s still in Alaska. Nevermind. Scarborough is convinced it’s Lieberman. That would be McCain-like. I only buy it because I think McCain wants to take back the ‘maverick’ label. Like I said yesterday though, I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s a surprise someone we’re not talking about. Because that seems McCain

  26. JoeinMA Says:

Now MSNBC reports Lieberman is in Dayton

  27. JoeinMA Says:

Now I am thinking about voting Bob Barr if Lieberman. Let the whole GOP abandon McCain like he is doing to us and go with Barr.

  28. Mit 10 Says:

The delegates want Romney. He wins with Romney so he better change his mind fast. Flip Flop.

  29. Chris Says:

Oh crap. However, I would support Leiberman over Palin. And this IS another loser ticket!

If it is Leiberman, there is a little thing at the convention a called a roll call vote. Delegates will jump ship in a heartbeat.

  30. SED Says:

If Palin is still in Alaska and it’s Leiberman….THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!

    The outrage would be enormous.

  31. SED Says:

If Palin is still in Alaska and it’s Leiberman….THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!

    The outrage would be enormous.

  32. Chris Says:

And there will be a revolt at convention.

I do hope Palin is still in Alaska.

    no mccainjindal.com

    Anybody think of/find any more?

  34. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    It won’t be Lieberman.

  35. frozone Says:

Hey, my previous post is awaiting moderation (probably because I included several URLs that may not pass the filter muster).

So for those that want to kill some time, try typing in http://www.mccain.com. The Pawlenty one is pretty funny. The Palin on is the most slick.

  36. frozone Says:

That last post got snipped too.

    I meant http://www.mccain“insert running mate’s name”.com

  37. Chris Says:

It could be cantor. Where’s he?

Sorta blows out the Obama not experienced enough thing, eh?

  38. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    Made Up?
    John Podhoretz - 08.29.2008 - 9:14 AM

After reports that Sarah Palin had flown from Alaska to Ohio, it turns out those reports are invented. How do these things happen, exactly? Who made it up first? Who played a game of telephone.

  39. Chris Says:

Not Palin. McCains folks saying Romney WILL be in Dayton. Romney folks saying no.

    Ok, I’m confused.

    Cantor?

  40. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

I fear that much of Palin’s national constiuentcy is a function of her being an attractive woman. Oh well, I’m sure that some of Mitt Romney’s appeal is likewise.

This 24 hour period is one for the history books in more than one way…

  41. Karen Says:

I posted the below on another thread the huge one so here goes again because it is how I feel!!!!

How can anyone be so foolish as to pick someone that NO one guarantees a win with. At least with Mitt, he had the best chance!

Perhaps it is best that our Mitt not have to be so closely tied to someone with this poor ability to make an extremely important judgement and choice!

I don’t like to call names and you notice I try not to, but her goes

BOZO!!!! With big red nose and shoes and all! makes a great image doesn’t it???

  42. Mit 10 Says:

No Mitt No Money No McCain.

  43. MM Says:

IT WILL BE ROMNEY : )

  44. Chris Says:

MM. How so? We’ve beenon this flipping (not flopping) roller coaster for 2 days now.

Where the heck is Mitt? PawPaw made a statement that it’s not him. Where’s Mitts statement?

  45. ChrisB Says:

    - Palin is in Alaska at the Anchorage state fair
    - Pawlenty said he’ll be at the MN state fair
    - Lieberman says it’s not him
    - Ridge is taking out his trash in DC with no travel plans
    - Huckabee says he won’t be at the rally

    - ROmney will be at the rally (says Mccain’s camp)

  46. Chris Says:

    Down to Cantor or Romney.

  47. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

If Pawlenty was able/allowed to say it wasn’t him, and Mitt Romney has not said it’s not him…? My guess is that it’s, what 2+ hours on a fast jet from Boston to Ohio (even assuming he was ever in Boston).

  48. Mit 10 Says:

Palin is just a pretty face. Instead of going after the conservative vote ( although he thinks he will get both and some will support the ticket) he is going for the womens vote. He might as well as picked Hillary.

I will not support JM. I stay home or write in Romney. JM is not serious about leading. Palin is a 2 term governor. What a joke? I can only hope the media is way off and I am hoping for a convention revolt.

    I hope BOZO looses.

  49. Tammy Says:

    Ditto Mit 10

JM won’t be getting this woman’s vote! Not without Romney. The only way I could have voted for McCain was if Mitt was on the ticket.

  50. Mit 10 Says:

Seeing these post that you all think it might be Romney is giving me hope however MSM says they have confirmed it will not be Romney. I hope they are wrong.

  51. Mit 10 Says:

If MSM is wrong the media make have a back lash with the McCain camp. They are all ready complaining.

  52. Mit 10 Says:

Talk to me people! I am freaking out.

  53. Tammy Says:

All the radio stations are talking about Palin. It doesn’t look good.

  54. ChrisB Says:

The news outlets that are saying Mitt is out only point to either “sources” or their own reporter and have no details or confirmation of where Romney is. All other VP candidates have alibis.

The fact remains that Romney is scheduled to be in Ohio at the rally.

  55. Mit 10 Says:

Fox It is Palin. She a conservative and I don’t care because she does not hold a candle to Romney.

I hope the delegates will say they want Romney. Palin does not have the experience Romney has.

I am not voting for BOZO!

  56. ChrisB Says:

Palin is schedluled to be at the AK state fair unveiling the new state quarter today. It’s not her. Although Drudge keeps misdirecting toward her.

  57. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

why should you suppose the MSM knows any more than you?

  58. Tammy Says:

Glenn Beck just said Palin is backsstage in Ohio.

  59. Mit 10 Says:

Romney is better off. Now we need to hear KILBURNS idea to unseat a VP for the GOP. The best chances of Romney getting in office in 2012 is for Obama to win 2008. Sad but true. The argument can be made that if McCain had picked Romney he would have won. Also, I don’t think Palin will attract that many Hillary supporters because she is conservative. Can she stand up to Biden? I will be interested in that debate but I DO NOT WANT TO SUPPORT MCCAIN.

  60. ChrisB Says:

Tammy: Beck said this on the radio? :(

  61. Tammy Says:

Yes just a few minutes ago.

  62. ChrisB Says:

Oh man! So her own campaign said she’d be at the state fair. Everything could be a lie on all reports. Haha, awesome…

    And yet, not.

  63. ChrisB Says:

    Ew… Fox just reported:
DAYTON, Ohio — A senior campaign official in the John McCain campaign confirmed to FOX News on Friday that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will name Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

    dang.

  64. ChrisB Says:

Is there any chance the delegates could still vote for Romney? Talk about playing the Maverick game right back at McCain. Long shot though.

  65. Tami Says:

I’m bummed… been watching Fox and Palin’s office says she’s in AK, but other “sources” say she will be in OH. Ugh.

  66. Tammy Says:

I feel worse now than I did when Mitt dropped out of the race. Thanks goodness for all of you here on this site. So much for McCain bashing Obama for not picking Hillary.

  67. ChrisB Says:

So what time is the official announcement?

  68. Tammy Says:

I believe it’s going to be 12:00 ET

  69. Michelle Says:

Cnn is already reporting that Sarah is under investigation!!!

  70. Mit 10 Says:

    why is she under investigation?

  71. ChrisB Says:

It’s in the article. Pretty benign really, but the national media will jump on any possible GOP scandal story.
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/29/palin.republican.vp.candidate/

  72. Tami Says:

I’m very disappointed this morning as I know all of you are as well. All I can say is thank goodness it’s not Huckabee. I know the Huckabites are saying the same thing about Romney. It’s too bad that there had to be such a divide between the two. I think that ended up hurting both their chances. They’ll say it wasn’t over religion but I beg to differ! *groan*

You know what? As disappointed as I am, I think I’m fine with Sarah Palin. I don’t know a lot about her but she is very conservative and has most all the same values that I do. So… *big sigh* I will still vote for McCain. I cannot vote for Obama!!

I’m also quite sure that McCain will ask Romney to work under him somewhere. He’d be stupid not to do so.

I wonder if Mitt is disappointed at all today or just what? Hmmm…

  73. frozone Says:

Hate to put a damper on things, but the Minnesota Public Radio talking head this morning was completely un-enthused about a potential Romney VP nod. Outside of our little support group, there is not much ferver for Mitt, particularly in the other party.

  74. ChrisB Says:

So what does it mean for Mitt? If he’s in the McCain administration, would he against McCain/Palin in 2012?

  75. ChrisB Says:

“Minnesota Public Radio?” Every single conservative poll online was landslides for Romney.

  76. ChrisB Says:

Did McCain just say, “put power above principle?”

  77. ChrisB Says:

I swear McCain said in his introduction of Palin, “She’s a person that … puts power above principle”. Whoops! I assume it’s a gaffe, but bet it’ll be picked up in the national-media/Obama/moveon campaign.

  78. Doug Says:

Well Folks, I’m writing in Mitt’s name for the General Election ( as we have said many times here on ComMITTed: No Mitt, No Money, No Vote!! - I will honor that! )

I am resolved to see Mitt our POTUS in 2012!

It has been fun sharing so much with everyone on this site but I think my wife and I will be taking a brief vacation from politics.
