  1. Lisa Says:

Everyone is pretty tight lipped about McCains choice.

  2. Lisa Says:

    Any leaks?

  3. 2thepoint Says:

Thanks, Ann. What are your thoughts on the VP wait?

  4. 2thepoint Says:

It would be great to hear from ComMITTed to Romney contributors: Vic lundquist, David Kim, Mike Laub, Ryan Jesperson, Thomas Alan, Jeff Fuller, and others.

    What are your thoughts today?

  5. Nate Gunderson Says:

Huckabee and his minions make me sick. Did I already say that?

  6. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    No Pawlenty?
from The Corner by Kathryn Jean Lopez
Pawlenty to Be at State Fair When McCain Announces Pick By Shira Toeplitz Roll Call Staff August 28, 2008, 2:49 p.m. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, on the short list of possible GOP vice presidential picks, said he plans to be home at the state fair for a radio show appearance Friday, when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is expected to announce his running mate. Pawlenty was the main attraction at a press conference to highlight Republicans’ argument that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is ‘not ready’ to be president. Pawlenty referred all questions about the ticket to the McCain campaign.

  7. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    Whew…

  8. Sarah Says:

I think this wait is amazingly long and not too fun especially when the media is teasing us about trying to find out tonight and not wait till tomorrow. I can’t wait any longer! I actually think it might be Pawlenty and not Romney. As much as a “safe” pick that is what does Pawlenty know about the economy? I don’t care that he is from a Blue Collar state. I want to know what he knows about the economy and how to fix it. I could be surprised but I am not betting on it. I feel like I did before the Iowa primary and you all know how that turned out.

  9. Karen Says:

I miss Steve Andrew. I am sure he is busy in school and all, but I surely do miss his knowledge and his youthful exuberance.

the vp wait is making me sick… I am still very hopeful. I don’t know why McCain would not select the man that America is stating in very clear terms that they want… what to do and what to think!!! I am feeling sickly!

  10. Sarah Says:

Oh really? Ignore my last post. I heard that he had canceled those events. IF that is the case then I am really, really glad.

  11. Ann Marie Curling Says:

I don’t know what I think other than the fact that I despise of Mike Huckabee worse than any Republican than I’ve ever seen. If he gets it, I just don’t know what I’d have to do. I am hoping so much that it’s Romney obviously. It’ll make Sunday absolutely magical :)

  12. Romney Fan Says:

What a rollercoaster ride! Drudge nows says Pawlenty is cancelling all his public events. Pawlenty also took over as the leading VP candidate on Rasmussenmarkets.com in the past hour….

Keeping my fingers crossed for Mitt!!!!!

  13. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Are Intrade markets always open, or do they close? There’s a close price, but I’m not sure that means the same thing…

  14. 2thepoint Says:

From U.S. News “Washington Whispers” by Paul Bedard (August 28, 2008 04:04 PM ET )

GOP Focus for McCain Veep On Romney, Then Lieberman and Pawlenty

Close advisers to Sen. John McCain continue to drop hints today that the top three running mate possibilities are former foe Mitt Romney, Senate pal Joe Lieberman, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty. However, they emphasize that only the closest McCain aides know the truth and that the speculation is based on who would bring more to the ticket—and hurt it the least. “I say it’s 75 percent Mitt and 25 percent ‘Joementum,’” says a former top McCain aide who still has the ear of the campaign. Another ally pointed to Pawlenty because he has close ties to conservatives, is from a state that McCain needs to win but is too close in the polls to Sen. Barack Obama, and represents a younger fresh face.

One signal that Romney topped the list was a tip to Whispers that U.S. Secret Service officials were visiting Romney’s family members, presumably to conduct a security sweep and pick them up for a potential trip to Ohio where McCain plans to formally announce his pick.

And while pundits have speculated that McCain might pick a woman or political newcomer, such as former Hewlett Packard boss Carly Fiorina, former eBay chief Meg Whitman, or Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, none of those names were offered by McCain allies in E-mails to Whispers today.

Still, one insider says that the senator could play his maverick card and pop an unusual name. “Don’t try to predict this one with any authority,” says the source. Romney has made several appearances in Denver during the Democratic National Convention to rap Obama and praise McCain, and today Pawlenty will fill that role.

  15. Karen Says:

I am sick! ON intrade, MITT is down to 40 and Pawlenty is up to 45!!!! Sick sick sick

  16. EVELIO PEREZ Says:

Drudge reporting that Pawlenti cancels scheduled engagement.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080828/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_veepstakes

  17. Tami Says:

Thanks Ann Marie for this open thread… so much easier to keep all the talk in one thread.

It’s a total roller coaster ride that’s for sure. Nate, I have to agree. I can’t help myself at times and I go read the Huck’s Army forum. I shouldn’t because then I get very upset LOL

  18. 2thepoint Says:

Nate, good to hear from you! Yes, I think you may have said that before but, please, keep saying it. Ann Marie just said basically the same thing and I think most of us agree with the two of you!

Yes, Karen, where is Steve Andrew?

  19. amy Says:

I had not even heard of Pawlenty until this past week. If McCain picks him, he kinda goes against those Hillary ads. I still believe it is Romney. Wish John would just tell us : )

  20. Tami Says:

I miss SteveAndrew as well. I’m sure he’s at school right now but might peek in later on this evening? He’s so intelligent for his young age.

  21. Leslie Says:

I’ve already figured out, based on the GMA interview with Pawlenty this morning, that he is the pick. Face it, McCain doesn’t have the nerve to put Mitt on the ticket. He’s too afraid of a backlash from the Huckabee idiots, and he knows the dems won’t attack Pawlenty, because there’s nothing there to attack. The guy is an empty vessel. I won’t be voting for McCain in November because he is pandering to the religious right, and I find that disgusting. Anyway, why in the world would we want our guy #2? He is too strong a person to take orders from McCain, of all people.

  22. Karen Says:

Tami, you are as bad as I am… I can’t stand the race42008, but I go visit it! I guess it is just to see what they know or don’t know, or something. Then something over ther makes me annoyed so I leave again…

ick! my stomach is a mess!

  23. Tami Says:

I just hope it happens before I go to bed tonight or waits until I wake up tomorrow morning *grin*

Oh the waiting… I can’t stand this LOL

  24. Paulee & Mike Says:

Just released on Fox, Mccain has picked his VP. Pawlenty and Romney seem not to have any engagements for tomorrow. Except Paw has a radio engagement early am. Suppose to know tomorrow at 12 noon. Mccain, Cindy, and daughter on way to Ohio. Unless someone leaks before tomorrow at noon. I don’t know if I want to know. It’s been a long haul. Stay glued to TV, we might find out sooner. Anyone know anyone that could give us a clue. I’m too nervous. Kay Bailey says, not her. Pawlenty cancelled an appearance with Cavuto. Kay says she thinks, Romney. She is on Cavuto. Stay tuned to Fox, they will be the ones to release first, I think. Please Lord bless this country with goodness, Mitt Romney and Ann.

  25. amy Says:

Maybe the change on Intrade is because of McCains campaign and the media causing a stir to throw people off. Many are having their doubts.
    I still think its Mitt

  26. Karen Says:

I guess Mitt was seen leaving his Calif home with an overnight bag and lots of secret service have been around his family members… are there really clues there?

  27. Tami Says:

I feel it is so close. I’m getting nothing accomplished today LOL

Karen, we’re gluttens (sp?) for punishment, aren’t we? LOL

  28. Karen Says:

Don’t give up on your prayers, God can and does do anything.. miracles do still exist..

  29. Karen Says:

NOthing accomplished???? I am just sitting here… I am really sick, I am on my laptop talking to you guys, watching the tv n mute and listening to Sean H… that is sick

  30. 2thepoint Says:

A real clue would be what Ann Romney is doing…

    Okay, Ann Romney ALERT, everybody!

  31. Tami Says:

Karen, you make me laugh. Well if I had a laptop, I’d be in front of the tv right now too LOL But I can’t believe I forgot to turn Sean Hannity on… off to do that right now.

  32. Karen Says:

what is Ann Romney doing??? Isn’t she with Mitt? I wonder…

  33. amy Says:

    3:44pm central

Mitt Romney to be Republican VP Nominee in 2008
    Last Price: 50.6

Tim Pawlenty to be Republican VP Nominee in 2008
    Last Price: 41.0

  34. Paulee & Mike Says:

2thepoint: Your right. What is and where is Ann????????

Karen: My husband is going to need medicine and a shrink if i don’t stop gasping and sighing and pacing. This is really nutty, we are too comMITTed, no just loyal and deeply care about this countries future.

  35. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    Sen. Hutchison is Out
from The Corner by Rich Lowry
I’m told, although I didn’t see it, that KBH said on Fox that’s it’s not her, and that she thinks it’s Mitt.

  36. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

You know, if it wasn’t Mitt, why would he have been given such a high profile over the months since he exited the primaries? He’s been the VP nominee pro temp

  37. 2thepoint Says:

    Ha! Ha! I can relate!

I’ve been on my day with Rush on the radio in the A.M., Hannity this afternoon (he’s speaking with Dick Moron - er, I mean, Morris right now) and FOX news on TV.

Many months ago I told myself this day would come and it was going to be like Christmas Eve - expectant butterflies and no rest. I gave myself permission way back then to guiltlessly clear my calendar, be a media zombie, and take it all in! :)

  38. Karen Says:

I have not been able to get on here for the last several minutes… I have a giggle for you! I saw this headline on Foxnews.com a while ago:

“Obama Campaign: A VP LEAK TONIGHT WOULD BE POLITICAL MALPRACTICE”

I am still giggling over that one… what a poor crying whiney baby spoiled sport!

  39. amy Says:

    NEW.REP.VP.ROMNEY 50 64.0 65.6
    NEW.REP.VP.PAWLENTY 5 21.0 29.9

Mitt back up at 4:16pm central

  40. Karen Says:

I am so against drugs, but this is driving me to take pills, I just don’t know what to take!!!

Sean Hannity just said things are leaking by the moment, but he didn’t say what, he just went back to listening to Dick Morris. I would have turned him off, but you know, I am trying to hear what those leaks may be… K

  41. Karen Says:

I have a comment awaiting moderation, but it simply said how I am nervous too… it is driving me nutz!

  42. 2thepoint Says:

I haven’t been able to log on the last few minutes eighter. Trouble with the server.

I was thinking about what I would do if we couldn’t get on this site today or tomorrow?! Now, that would not be good - we’ve got to ride this thing out together!

  43. Karen Says:

I am glad it wasn’t just me 2tp. I was getting concerned although I could get on every other site I visit… So interesting!

  44. JA Says:

Just announced - Pawlenty is guesting on Meet the Press this weekend. I think (hope) that all this Pawlenty stuff is way too obvious. Hopefully just the McCain camp trying to stir up some buzz.

  45. 2thepoint Says:

Karen, I have a comment awaiting moderation, too. I used the word “moron” in it and thought that was the reason. Now Good to know you’re having the same glitches I am.

I’m going to put my comments here, so if they do show up later, just ignore them: Karen and Tami - Ha! I can relate.

I’ve been on my computer all morning with Rush on the radio this A.M., Hannity this afternoon (currently speaking with Dick Moron - er, I mean, Morris) and FOX news on TV.

Many months ago I told myself this day would come and it was going to be like Christmas Eve - expectant butterflies and no rest. I gave myself permission way back then to guiltlessly clear my calendar, be a media zombie, and hang on for the ride!

  46. 2thepoint Says:

Karen, I just tried to re-post my comments and they’re awaiting moderation, too.

  47. Eric Says:

And now Pawlenty is even down lower than that, to 25. Oh the suspense. I think McCain will leak something tonight to downplay Osama’s I mean Obama’s speach.

  48. JoeinMA Says:

If Mitt is not chosen, those daily tracking polls will show an instant 10 point drop for McCain….and all of us saying ‘I told you so’

  49. 2thepoint Says:

This is an “awaiting moderation” test.

I used this word in a post and want to see if triggers the hold up:

    moron

  50. Michelle Says:

It’s been reported that McCain’s 1st stop is in Michigan after VP announcement! Mitt won Michigan in the Primaries and could give it to McCain in the election…I hope it’s Mitt!

    http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080828/NEWS15/80828066/1118/RSS

  51. JA Says:

Meet the Press is going to be interviewing Pawlenty live at the GOP Convention site in MN on Sunday. Isn’t McCain supposed to be in Missouri on Sunday with his new VP? Hmmm…

  52. Karen Says:

2tp, You don’t think we are overwhelming them do you? It seems to be settling down now. I hope it gets the kinks out pretty soon! K

JA: So, P on meet the press this weekend? Do you think that insinuates anything about the next weeks events? And isn’t the Farron Mo thing on Sunday? How can he do both??? These Guys can afford to travel on a whim, that is for sure. Glad for that I guess. I just don’t want him as vp!! K

  53. Paulee & Mike Says:

Just heard that Huck, Pawlenty, and Romney are all going to Ohio tomorrow, what do ya all make of that?

Pres. Carter says: Mccain milking P.O.W. experience, another spoiled sport.

This is the only real clue to me, secret service around Mitt’s family. Any word of secret service around the other two?

  54. 2thepoint Says:

Good. “Moron” is in the all-clear!

  55. Nate Gunderson Says:

I just went through and moderated comments. There was a whole slew of them. Sorry for the delay. It’s a lot of work. We get about 200 spam comments a day. If you don’t keep on top of them they build up.

  56. Nate Gunderson Says:

I don’t think they are getting caught up for the word ‘moron’.

  57. Karen Says:

Well, I have been looking, but I cannot find anything about security around anyone else.

As far as all of them together tomorrow, it is a show of unity I think. YOu know, no spoiled sports etc.

Pres. Carter is a boob and a rube

  58. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    Leaked?
from The Corner by Yuval Levin
The usually well-informed Marc Ambinder says Fox’s Carl Cameron has McCain’s VP pick. We’ll see. If they leaked it intentionally, it’s an unfortunate and unwise move.

  59. Michelle Says:

    Carter’s comments are abominable!

  60. Karen Says:

    We love you Nate!

  61. Nate Gunderson Says:

I made it so ‘Dick Morris’ wouldn’t get caught up in the filter anymore. Long overdue on that one.

  62. Eric Says:

When do they say they’ll announce it?

  63. Lisa Says:

Pawlenty is the same age as Obama. If McCain thinks Obama is inexperienced how will the explain this one? The press will have a field day.

  64. JA Says:

Anyone know what time that rally is on Sunday in Missouri? Would Pawlenty be able to do Meet the Press and get to Missouri on time?

  65. Eric Says:

Huck is a Moron, glad that wasn’t filtered

  66. Karen Says:

Dick Morris should be filtered or muzzled or something….

  67. Trooperdad Says:

Reading your comments gets me worked up too. I used to get worked up watching football games and letting them determine my mood. But there’s really nothing you or any of us can do about this outcome. It’s fun to watch sure, but that’s it. The decision is made (or will be made when it’s announced) and it’s out of our hands. I can relate, but I think we’ve all done as much as WE can do up to this point. I hope for the best, but expect the worst–that way I won’t be disappointed.

  68. 2thepoint Says:

Thank you much, Nate, the great!

  69. Eric Says:

Well I think all this suspense is fun. Heaven forbid I get anything useful accomplished today.

  70. 2thepoint Says:

Morris & moron is just a too-easy alliteration.

Carter needs to shut up and go back to eating peanuts.

  71. Leslie Says:

Paulee and Mike: Maybe McCain will have 3 VP’s: Huck, Pawlenty, and Mitt. Then nobody’s feelings will get hurt!

  72. Karen Says:

Hey Nate, I have a question along with a comment. I hope first that you are able to work ok. I am so appreciative of you coming on here and fix it while we are using this as a chat room to have group therapy… it is group therapy you know

Now for the question. I miss the numbers. Is there any way to number the comments like in the old days??? Just wondering, not meaning to put any stressors on you at this time, if I am doing that, please forgive me… K

  73. 2thepoint Says:

Hannity on radio just said he thinks it’s gonna be ROMNEY.

  74. Karen Says:

Sean Hannity is guessing it is Romney.

3 vps is a funny thing to think about. I can’t say it has not floated around in my mind. It amuses me that they are all traveling around together. One of them is vp most likely and 2 of them are not. Are they promised something else later? Cabinet positions or something?

  75. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    Hannity is just hoping…

  76. Karen Says:

2tp: if i wasn’t so talkative, I would have been first

  77. Karen Says:

SinB: Sean has a pretty good handle on things alot of the time. We shall all see soon I guess, but at least it gives me hope.

  78. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

What would be the downside of leaking the VP announcement just before or during the time Obama is speaking?

  79. Eric Says:

What if McCain names his whole cabinet along with his VP and Mitt is in the Cabinet? Then what do we do?

  80. 2thepoint Says:

Anybody taking any time to eat today? IF so, what?

I just choked down a slice of cold pepperoni pizza.

  81. Ann Marie Curling Says:

Rally in Missouri will be at 4PM, the doors open at 2PM. I’ll be there!

    Ann Marie

  82. Lisa Says:

    Intrade is making me nervous.

  83. JA Says:

2thepoint, I can barely eat a thing today and my eyes are sore from staring at the computer for so long.

  84. 2thepoint Says:

    Good question, Eric.

IMHO, without Mitt standing at the VP debate podium facing Bombastic Biden, we’ll lose that debate. Without Mitt as VP, we’ll lose the election so there will be no Cabinet.

  85. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Intrade isn’t any smarter than you are–relax.

  86. Nate Gunderson Says:

    Karen-
The numbering scheme unfortunately is packaged in with whatever template we are using for the site. We would have to switch to another template to get that functionality. Ann Marie is the bottom line on which template is used.

  87. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

I don’t think Pawlenty would do MTP and a rally the same day. Not at least this initial rally. But you could get to the rally from Washington; he could also cancel the appearance if he’s picked.

  88. Eric Says:

I feel like the beginning of the Iowa caucus all over again. We should win but…

  89. Karen Says:

    great answer 2tp!

eating??? tuna on cheddar rice cakes…

My eyes are watering. Now we know the time of the rally and it is entirely possible that one could get there in time from MN. argh!

  90. 2thepoint Says:

JA - Ha! Ha! Me, too. I’m gonna have to stand up and do the “Hokey Pokey” or something.

Ann Marie - You and John Cronin are the “lucky duckies” of the week!! Wish I could be with you two to raise the roof in Missouri!

  91. Karen Says:

Thanks Nate, I was really just wondering. that’s all. I don’t mean to cause you a problem

  92. Karen Says:

intrade is all over the place. It is nerve wracking to see what people are thinking about… relax SteveinBrooklyn said,

  93. 2thepoint Says:

Karen - between pepperoni pizza and tuna on cheddar rice cakes - you win! Healthier by far. Gotta keep our strength up for a long night and a morning that will come all too quickly.

  94. Ann Marie Curling Says:

I feel very fortunate with the event in Missouri. I’ll make sure and take lots of pictures to show on the site when we’re done :)

    Ann Marie

  95. Eric Says:

I really think that McCain will leak something during Obama’s speach, it is the perfect time.

  96. Tami Says:

Whew! Couldn’t get in for a long while… glad it’s not hiccupping anymore LOL

Eating? Oh yes, I’m still eating… though trying hard to eat healthy stuff but I’m so nervous that all I really wanna do is dive in to a huge vat of chocolate face first LOL

  97. Tami Says:

I don’t think announcing or even leaking anything during his big speech is a good idea. I think it would be a bigger and better announcement when O is through speaking.

  98. frozone Says:

Thanks N8 (moderation in all things).

    Anne Marie,

If you change templates, I miss the pictures and poster’s names…

But I’m not complaining. That’s the fluff. It’s the content that matters.

I’ll echo a previous sentiment: I miss all the other posters…

  99. Tami Says:

I’m enjoying all the posters and busy talk here today and the past few days.

Thanks to all who work behind the scenes on this website. I great appreciate it!

  100. Karen Says:

    Pretty funny Tami…

I was just over at race408, boy those people are nuts and pervericators. They have a story on there about Mitt saying it is not him and he plans to spend all day TOMORROW in Massachusettes. Doesn’t that just contradict the whole Dayton story??? It is goofy and oddly worded and “from a source close.. blah blah blah…”

well shoveled, smelly disinformation me thinks

  101. Tami Says:

  102. Karen Says:

    Mitt 38, TPaw 44

    ewoooo

  103. Bethie Says:

It HAS to be Romney. No one else make any sense.

    Experience, Strength, Innovation, Values, Leadership

Romney IS what America needs today. He will be a great V.P.in ‘08 and a great President in 2012!

I hope the news comes out tonight, or I won’t sleep a wink tonight.

  104. 2thepoint Says:

Ann Marie, your photos and comments will be highly anticipated! Thanks so much for this safe haven website for all of us.

Tami, you crack me up! Face first in a huge vat of chocolate - so good! Makes me crave an Almond Joy or a Symphony Bar…

  105. Karen Says:

Bethie: I hope the news that comes out is the news that we all (and so many others) want!

  106. Tami Says:

LOL I have a Dove chocolate bar sitting right here screaming my name but so far, I’m being good!

  107. 2thepoint Says:

Bethie, I’ll be wide awake with ya!

The V.P. canidate and all of his family are really scrambling right now. Whoever they are, we need to pray for their safety.

As I watched the Biden family take the stage last night, I really enjoyed seeing Joe’s Mom, his children, and his grandchildren. They were sweet. I also thought of the grand portrait the Romney family will make when they crowd the podium! Go Romneys!

    Anybody concerned about hurrican Gustav?

  108. Karen Says:

Hurricanes and tornadoes are not nice things so of course, we are all concerned!!! I just cannot see how it could affect from down there all the way up there to MN though. I guess it could spawn tornadoes. That is a very real possibility. I guess traveling could be a concern as well.

Bad weather is very frightening and very bad… I don’t like it

  109. 2thepoint Says:

    hurrican should be “hurricane”

My spelling stinks today; I’m clicking away too fast on this keyboard. Pardon me for the next 36 hours, please.

Tami, if I would have had a Dove bar anywhere in the vicinity of 5 miles in the last eight hours, I would have scarfed it down in two seconds!

  110. Karen Says:

    i love dove

  111. Karen Says:

    intrade: Mitt 58; Pawlenty 47

  112. JA Says:

Have you tried Dove ice cream? It is the best! When you open it up, there’s a layer of chocolate on top that is positively heavenly.

My kids are running around waving their red foam “Mitts” that we got at one of his rallies. C’mon, McCain, don’t break my kids’ hearts!

  113. Lisa Says:

Romney is headed to Massachusetts. It’s not looking good. This is a very sad day.

  114. Romney Fan Says:

Just saw this link at MyManMitt.com

    http://culture11.com/blogs/theconfabulum/2008/08/28/breaking-news-romney-believes-hes-out/

    Not the most encouraging article….

Still keeping my fingers crossed for Mitt!!!!

  115. Karen Says:

who said he was going to Mass?

  116. 2thepoint Says:

Thanks, Lisa. Could you post your source?

  117. Lisa Says:

    The web-site is mymanmitt.

  118. JA Says:

That story about Mitt going to MA looks fake to me.

  119. Karen Says:

Romneyfan: That is what I read on race408 earlier. It still makes no sense with the story about Dayton tomorrow…

I have not had Dove Ice Cream. I actually eat very little sugar. I do however enjoy a Philly Swirl every now and again. They are carried by Wal-mart; are ice cream on a stick and are only 57 cals… lower carbs and sugars.. ok food

  120. 2thepoint Says:

Thanks, again, Lisa. Anyone know if “culture11″ is a credible source?

  121. 2thepoint Says:

Thanks, too, Romney Fan. What do you think?

  122. Karen Says:

I think the source is the confabulum as per the link above. It makes no sense given the Dayton thing tomorrow and I do NOT believe it either, but we shall see! K

  123. EVELIO PEREZ Says:

    Anyone have a fribulator , HELP !

  124. Ann Marie Curling Says:

He’s not going to Mass. First off, why on earth would he just jettison to Massachusetts when he just got to California to spend time with his family? Second, it’s been widely reported that everyone is going to Dayton OH so the McCain camp can keep the secret the easiest. So, whatever. I don’t believe it, and look at the website address, doesn’t look too authoritative to me.

  125. Karen Says:

Not too credible to me…. take a look at the page. I think it is a story meant to stir the pot…

  126. 2thepoint Says:

Back to chocolate - anyone familiar with an absolutely melt-in-your-mouth-without-chewing, creamy, milk chocolate candy made in Sweden or Germany and sold in the states called “Ice Cubes?” They are little square-shaped chcolates wrapped in a gold foil wrapper?

I haven’t seen them for years and would love to find a source for them. Searched on the internet for these treats but no go…

Really, if McCain lacks the wisdom and vision to not choose Romney then he is an imbecile.

  127. Lisa Says:

Your right it doesn’t make sense. Sorry guys, I’m just worried.

  128. Karen Says:

OK, I have looked elsewhere and can find nothing else like that. It is a Christian blogging site or so it appears to me. I just went through all the links at the top and it just appears a Christian site to me. I don’t think the story is real though because as I said before, why would he leave Calif to go to Ma for hours only to appear in Dayton tomorrow?

We know McCain went to DAyton today, might not might have packed a bag and met him there?

That seems more logical to me than the scenario in the first paragraph…

I have never heard of that chocolate that I know of, but I shall keep an eye out for it.

I really need to go think about dinner for my men folk, I just cannot tear myself away from this computer and you guys! argh

  129. Eric Says:

It has got to be Romney, no one else is scheduled for as many events. It is unnecessary for Mitt to go from PA to MO for back to back McCain rallies if he isn’t the VP.

  130. Karen Says:

    correction:

might not MITT have packed a bag and met him there?

  131. Mit 10 Says:

And who wants to vote for an imbecile.

  132. Eric Says:

A new Newsmax poll found that 48% of the republicans wants Mitt for the VP the second place was Huck with a measly 13%

  133. Karen Says:

Surely McCain would not be foolish and ignore the people who would be voting for him… or not! Would he???

I am sorry for any typos, trying to do this and make dinner which means running from room to room… pray pray pray

  134. Romney Fan Says:

As for the whole intrade / Rasmussen markets surge for Pawlenty….that might be a bunch of his fantasy football friends opening up accounts and putting all their pretend dollars towards Pawlenty to give him the huge uptick of support today.

All of you can do the same for Romney, if you want. Go to rasmussenmarkets.com and open up an account and put all your fake cash towards Romney, and we’ll see a big uptick towards Mitt.

  135. Karen Says:

I don’t want to vote for an embicile, that is why I (and all of you) wanted Mitt in there in the first place! K

  136. 2thepoint Says:

Evelio - good one! I could use a defribillator right now.

Remember the old TV show “Sanford & Son?” When shocking news hit the old guy, Fred, he would slap his hand over his HEART, raise the other to the heavens, and staggeringly declare to his dead wife, “It’s the BIG one, Elizabeth! The BIG one! I’m comin’!”

Before the next few hours and the VP is named, I think we’re all gonna be staggering around - hands on hearts - exclaiming, “It’s the BIG one!”

  137. Mit 10 Says:

McCain is running an ad congratulating Obama on his big night tonight saying it is his Night to shine and he will be back to campaigning tomorrow. If it is leaked I do not think McCain intends for it to be.

  138. EVELIO PEREZ Says:

IF ROMNEY IS NOT PICKED , I WILL WRITE HIS NAME ON THE BALLOT .

  139. Chris Says:

CArl Cameron is reporting that huck is on his way to Ohio. Say it aint true.

I can’t vote for him. In fact, I think I’ll donate money to Obama, just to make myself feel better, if this is not a head fake.

  140. SED Says:

Bill Kristal on Fox just said that he had heard from the McCain campaign a couple of days ago that the finalists were Pawlenty, Lieberman, and Whitman. Romney was pushed out due to the house issue.

I really hope its not true. All the pundits are saying it is Pawlenty though for the safe pick.

  142. 2thepoint Says:

Well, the whole Brit Hume panel (at the Dem Convention) just said they think McCain picked Pawlenty because he does no harm. They all felt that Mitt’s muliple homes along with McCain’s homes will be the gift that keeps on giving for the Dems.

  143. JoeinMA Says:

On a national stage, Pawlenty is a complete unknown. It would be a stupid pick as it would not add votes for McCain.

  144. SED Says:

I’m really hoping that Pawlenty was the guy a couple of days ago, but McCain changed his mind to Mitt today due to all the polling data that says he helps the ticket.

  145. Romney Fan Says:

Bill Kristal cannot be right. Meg Whitman ran a multi-national, HUGE corporation. She probably has a couple dozen homes spread out around the country……if Romney’s out of contention due to his # of homes….then Whitman’s also out.

So many head fakes….which are not bad….considering these take some of the focus away from the Obama / DNC spotlight….but quite mindboggling, indeed.

    Let’s go Mitt!!!!

  146. Ann Marie Curling Says:

Whitman? Now don’t get me wrong I like her, she was interviewed by one of my bloggers at Women for Romney on their plane trip back to California. I respect her a lot, but I do not think she’s even remotely qualified to be VP. As for Pawlenty. Is he ready for attack dog confrontation with Biden? I just don’t see how ANYONE is more qualified than Mitt Romney.

  147. Eric Says:

This is all too much I think we should just forget about it and just wait till tomorrow.

  148. 2thepoint Says:

Wouldn’t that just be the biggest kick in the pants? McCain inherits his seven homes, Mitt works hard, spends his lifetime learning how business and economies work, becomes successful, has an opportunity to help our lame, debt-ridden federal government, and he is passed over because his four houses are too “scary” to deal with.

    TOO STUPID FOR WORDS!

  149. JoeinMA Says:

Some speculation out there that Fred Thompson will get the VP nod. Good credentials…but….

  150. Ann Marie Curling Says:

Calm down everyone, Huck, Romney, Pawlenty, they are all going to Ohio. Don’t get your panties to much in a bunch.

  151. Bethie Says:

I saw the McCain ad. It was very good. Acknowledging Obama’s milestone accomplishment. It seemed like something Mitt would have written!

  152. Makeli Says:

Eek! Does Drudge know it’s Pawlenty? Check it out.

  153. 2thepoint Says:

Ann Marie, I, too, like Meg Whitman - a lot. Meg has great days ahead of her - very sharp and likeable. She should run for governor of California.

Not yet ready for VP, but could be in a few years. Pawlenty is a good guy, too, but is a little widget compared to great genius Romney.

  154. bigmo Says:

If Mitt isn’t eligible according to them due to his wealth…does it matter that Meg Whitman is even richer than Mitt? Wow these are some bright bulbs on Fox…

  155. SED Says:

  156. Leslie Says:

Mitt must be quite a threat indeed if the democrats are already on the attack. Well, we know they can’t attack Pawlenty, an empty vessel, maybe that’s why Pawlenty will get chosen. But will he inspire us? Will he motivate us? Highly doubt it. Good bye McCain. God Bless.

  157. Karen Says:

My guess based on everyone’s conversations at Fox a while ago (which I did see disappointingly) is that McCain has played this very close to the vest as he said he would and he alone knows and everyone else is merely speculating!

If someone leaked anything, it appears it is on purpose for whatever reason… K

  158. JA Says:

Well, if it is Pawlenty, the Dems are going to have a field day saying McCain wimped out by not picking Mitt. And I’ll be saying it, too.

  159. Karen Says:

I am just wondering something. Do any of you think it at all possible that this is another head fake? A little leakage here, a little there… they have leaked name after name after name for weeks and weeks and then stacking the reaction to them up against the reaction to Mitt. Whenever I went to the Bostonherald site, the comments were abyssmal about this poor guy. He holds not a candle to anyone, especially not Mitt… I am just wondering about this.

Perhaps it is wishful thinking, I don’t know, but it makes sense to be one last fake to compare then make the final decision and say it had been made all dang day long.

    Interesting hypothesis anyway! and hopeful

  160. Michelle Says:

I’d heard that Karl Rove supposedly had lots of input and advice for John McCain on who to pick for VP and that he was pushing Mitt for that slot. He was just on Fox being interviewed by Shepard Smith. He was asked about Meg Whitman. Karl said that she wouldn’t be a good choice due to a book she had written critizing conservatives. Karl was being vague when asked who he thought the VP might be. He was then asked what advice he would give McCain. Karl then said that he’d tell him not to worry about picking up certain states or who could win him the election. He said John should pick the person who WOULD BE FULLY CAPABLE AND READY TO BE PRESIDENT if anything should happen to McCain and that the voters should see 2 experienced and capable people ready to lead…..after hearing this I could only think that Mitt Romney is the only one that fits that bill.

  161. Karen Says:

Me too Michelle… pray some more I guess

  162. SED Says:

I don’t know if it is a head fake. What I do know is that the majority of the people on the short list were all close friends of McCain except for Mitt.

It appears that he really wanted Lieberman or Ridge on the ticket. When there was a lot of push back; he went to his next friend on the list Pawlenty.

Pawlenty will not turn Minnesota red where he barely won re-election. He will not help strategically in anyway except by fading into the background and not making waves.

I guess I understand now why they kept saying this would be McCain’s “personal choice”.

I felt that Mitt had a 45% - 50% chance of getting it. My assessment is down to 33%. A McCain administration is clearly not about making the strong choices, but the safe one’s if Pawlenty is the pick.

  163. Karen Says:

Reasonable assessment SED. I jsut dould not say as he has held it all so close to his chest. We shall see I guess. K

  164. Karen Says:

    intrade is disgusting and depressing

  165. JA Says:

Looking at Intrade will give me a panic attack, so I’m avoiding it.

I wish we would find out tonight, just to be done with it. I am volunteering in my daughter’s classroom tomorrow morning and will be a nervous wreck if I don’t know.

  166. Lisa Says:

McCain is making the worst mistake. I hope someone stops him from announcing Pawlenty because alot of people will stay home on Nov. 4. When people say McCain is out of touch I think they may be right.

  167. SED Says:

Take it for what its worth. I’ve never heard of this site.

    Romney Out…

    http://culture11.com/blogs/theconfabulum/2008/08/28/breaking-news-romney-believes-hes-out/

  168. Michelle Says:

Mitt Romney and his sons have been working their A__ off for John McCain traveling the country. Mitt has been on all of the media outlets pushing McCain. McCain had even said that Mitt does more for him than he ever did for himself, although I totally disagree about that one. Where has Pawlenty, Huckabee (ugh) and Lieberman been??? Mitt’s been John McCain’s attack dog from day 1. I can’t believe that McCain would pick Pawlenty whom most voters don’t even know and they only have 2 months to get to know him. IMHO, that’s not enough. The ‘houses’ issue shouldn’t even deter McCain. Obama’s attack dogs are saying that McCain and or Romney can’t relate to the common people. However, Obama’s speech under Greek Columns on Mt Olympus as a messiah speaking to the masses isn’t relating to the common people either. McCain can slam him in ads showing how elitist he is and it plays again into the celebrity thing. Ugh, I’m getting tired trying to analyze this whole thing….

  169. JoeinMA Says:

I am still amazed that McCain got the GOP nomination…show how easily independents and religious zealot can detroy the Republican party.

  170. Tami Says:

Just saw this link on Hot Air. No doubt Mitt Romney is one very wealthy man… but who cares?!?! That shouldn’t even be an issue in this election.

    http://www.publicintegrity.org/blog/entry/689/

There are many rich politicians! Sheesh!!

  171. Bethie Says:

I met Mitt Romney in Salt Lake City. His aura is one of extrordinary kindness, strength, spirituality and confidence. If McCain does not choose him, it is NOT because McCain wants what’s best for our country! It will be because McCain doesn’t want to feel like a second-fiddle to the Vice President.

If the worst happens and we do have to wait ’til 2012 to get our candidate in, it will be devastating (both to us and our country), but ultimately it will be worth the wait!

But, don’t stop praying tonight…. There IS still hope!

  172. JoeinMA Says:

It is shameful that we have let the liberal weenies make the concept of Success become something undesirable or even evil.

    If Mitt is passed by….
Shame on McCain for being influenced to think that is a negative instead of making personal success a positive in his platform. He left his courage long ago in Vietnam if such is the case.

  173. SED Says:

In 2008 we have seen the death of clear objectivity in the press and the death of the successful business man.

Having too many houses means you can’t be VP. Unbelievable.

  174. 2thepoint Says:

    Good comments, all.

Tami, enjoyed the link. Just goes to show what a smart, busines-minded guy Romney is. Just what we need in brain-deficit, do-nothing Washington.

Bethie, you’re right. Regardless of the outcome of this obstacle-course-VP-thing, Mitt Romney stands as a shining example of character, strength, and generosity. McCain can NEVER repay him for what he (Romney) did for the old guy. And the best part is, Romney doesn’t expect to be repaid.

JoeinMA - agree. Religious zealots - we all may as well give up, wrap ourselves in burkhas, and kiss their holier-than-thou yellow-toenailed feet!

  175. Leslie Says:

Pawlenty will not overshadow McCain and he will keep the rabid evangelicals at bay. I’ve decided that it is most likely Pawlenty. I mean come on, we always knew that Romney was a huge threat to McCain. Why would McCain ever put him on the ticket? Pawlenty will, as another poster wrote, gently fade into the background - just as McCain wants it. Fortunately, Pawlenty, in his few short months as a running mate, won’t make much of a dent, and Romney will be unscathed for 2012. Let’s all move on, shall we?

  176. 2thepoint Says:

    Yes, JoeinMa and SED.

A couple of things in this nutty election cycle I think we need to change: (1)the definition of a COMPARISON ad as opposed to an attack ad (2) the whacked notion that SUCCESS is a dirty word

  177. Chris Says:

It’s my daughters 8th birthday today. Im hopeing she does not notice!

  178. 2thepoint Says:

So true, Leslie. What’s the common denominator between Pawlenty and Huck’s army? The Baptist religion. All hail the whispering, radical Baptists.

I won’t be able to move on until a few hours after I hear Mac’s big announcement tomorrow.

  179. 2thepoint Says:

Happy birthday to your daughter, Chris. Eight years ago you were probably working very hard!

  180. Chris Says:

2thepoint. Actually, she’s adopted! She came to us as a bright eyed 6 yr old, we adopted her at 7 and now….She’s 8! I wonder, what will 9 bring?

  181. Chris Says:

2 the point. I can’t vote for anyticket that Huckabee would support.

He caused this, now he’ll help lose this election.

  182. JA Says:

I still can’t believe this is the real deal with Pawlenty. It’s too blatantly obvious - abruptly cancelling all his appearances and announcing he’ll be on MTP? Come on…

If it really is Pawlenty, and all these clues they’ve let slip today are real, I have to question the intelligence of the McCain organization. Way to ruin the suspense… The main topic of conversation on the web tonight is what a boring choice Pawlenty is, and there will be zero excitement tomorrow at the announcement.

I’m just trying to keep the faith that this is a head fake.

  183. Marybeth Says:

Here’s where Pawlenty was debating milque-toast Evan Bayh and had a “deer-in-the-headlights” minute:

    http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=522228

THIS is who people say McCain has picked?

  184. 2thepoint Says:

Chris, congrats on being an adoptive parent! Huckaweasel got what he wants. I hope he rots.

  185. JA Says:

Chris - Happy birthday to your little girl! Eight is such a great age. We have a 6 year old daughter and two boys ages 8 & 9.

  186. Leslie Says:

Yes, Huck caused it!!! I hate him, and how he used religion to keep Mitt off the ticket. I don’t even know how Mitt can stomach being on the same stage as him. I know he has to be a good trouper and support this inane McCain/Pawlenty ticket, but it must make him sick inside. It does me. I will be voting Obama. My hatred of McCain and Huck is too intense to support that ticket.

  187. amy Says:

Lets look ahead several years. What happens if an African-American is nominated to be president? Lets say their Mother and Father are both African-American. Will he/she be considered the first REAL African-American or the first 100% African-America to be nominated for president?
    Just Saying????

  188. amy Says:

Could this all be a ploy to throw everyone off? Why keep it a secret and have this happen. I know!! Wishful thinking!

  189. 2thepoint Says:

Mitt seemed so light-hearted yesterday on Morning Joe. McCain said he wasn’t going to select a VP until Cindy returned from Georgia (country) which was Wednesday. Mitt could have known yesterday that he was the pick or else was relieved that it’s all coming to an end.

Anything coming from Mac or his staff is unreliable in the first degree.

  190. Marybeth Says:

Amy, I’ve thought the same thing.

  191. Leslie Says:

No. It’s not a ploy. Pawlenty makes total sense, if you think like McCain. He doesn’t want someone who will look better than he does. And I can’t believe Mitt would ever want to work under McCain. It’s best that we have 4 years of dems and then bring Mitt in for 2012. Maybe, after 4 years of democratic rule, people may appreciate him then.

  192. SED Says:

I’m sure McCain feels that the Unity Tour this weekend featuring Mitt and Huck will assuage any disappointment.

    It won’t.

  193. amy Says:

I think it is Mitt. Pawlenty wouldnt get headlines. Nobody knows him and are saying very little negative about him. The liberal media is ready with alot of negative stuff to say about Mitt. Well, there is more great stuff the Republicans can say about him. Hey, I will take the guy that makes headlines. The liberals were scared of Mitt as the VP. Pawlenty can NOT take on Biden. I know McCain has to have looked at the polls. If he doesnt take Mitt, that Hillary ad is gonna look pretty ridiculous he put out about BA not picking her.
It is gonna be Mitt. Pawlenty doesnt even get my pulse up the slightest. Why build up excitement to let us down?
    Mitt is the guy.

  194. Marybeth Says:

“If he doesnt take Mitt, that Hillary ad is gonna look pretty ridiculous he put out about BA not picking her.”

Amy, you have a great point.

The Dems could make real hay with that. The second-place vote-getter doesn’t get picked.

Flash poll after poll of Mitt winning - and McCain goes with the arse-kisser. Guess he can’t get rid of grudges. Do we really want someone like this in the White House?

    Or something to that effect?

  195. JoeinMA Says:

The thing is is that Pawlenty won’t ADD votes for the GOP ticket. People voting for McCain will either be because of McCain OR as an anti-Obama. If Romney were on the ticket, then McCain will see a net increase in votes as there are millions of people who will vote for Romney because they see Mitt as the next President for 2012.
And, you pick VP with the notion that if he/her could step in POTUS position on day 1. Given McCain’s health history and age, this is a major issue for people in evaluating his VP. Pawlenty is too young and inexperienced…the same argument we have been using AGAINST Obama.

  196. Chris Says:

    Amy
3 of my children are Black (not from Africa, but Salt Lake!) They have the double whammy of being Black and LDS and 2 are female. Whoo hoo. Would that rock the socks off Huck!

My hubby just came in and said he heard on KSL mitt has SS around HIM. I’m not sure he heard right. He’s not a native United Stater, and somethings do get lost in translation.

  197. Lisa Says:

Amy, this doesn’t make sense. McCain will not get any attention/bounce from Pawlenty. I was hoping Obama would pick Biden because I knew Romney was the only one who could debate him. I can remember how much I disliked McCain in the California debate when he was misquoting Mitt. I’m starting to dislike him again.

  198. Sue Says:

I have tickets to the event in Washington, PA on Saturday, Mitt will be there. As much as I would love to see him, I won’t go. McCain need to know that just like Hillary supporter, Mitt had a few that feel he did the same thing Obama did. Obama and McCain are both weak.

  199. 2thepoint Says:

Chris, well, wouldn’t that be something if your husband is correct?!!!!!

Your family sounds terrific! Hats off to you and your hubby!

  200. JoeinMA Says:

    Chris,
The one thing I am counting on is that Mitt left his son’s place alone with overnight bag. One does not do that unless the intent is to keep a secret of where and why you are going. Of all the rumors, Mitt’s destination has been the one that has been kept the most mysterious….It would not surprise me that he left the house, met up with some Secret Service people and was taken to a private plane.

  201. EVELIO PEREZ Says:

You might be right Joe , It dosen’t make a lot of sense to leave to an undisclosed place with an overnight bag unless there was something cooking , I’m still hopeful .

  202. Leslie Says:

Well, let’s all assume it’s Pawlenty. Obviously that’s the name that was leaked. If it’s not, we’ll all be so happy right?

  203. Christy Says:

    Hi Everyone,

Just a Romney loyalist who checks in with you guys to get the latest on the race…question- why would Romney have to get on a plane secretly if he is supposed to be in Ohio tomorrow anyway?

Still hopin’ it’s Mitt! Pawlenty is just plain boring…not what McCain needs-I just hope McCain’s ego does not get in the way of winning!

  204. SED Says:

    Exactly Leslie.

  205. 2thepoint Says:

    Chris, I like your thinking.

I guess the question is the type and size of Mitt’s bag. An overnighter? Duffle? Suitbag? Samsonite monster? :)

  206. 2thepoint Says:

Sorry, Joe. I guess that was your master mind working on the “bag” theory.

  207. Chris Says:

2 the point. Thanks. Appreciate your comments. We’ve adopted 7 altogether. (some black, some hispanic, some half and half). It’s fun, and a LOT of work.

Yea, I’m hoping my hubby is right too. Wouldent all this be a total kick?

  208. 2thepoint Says:

Leslie, good plan. If we wake up tomorrow and it’s Mitt - how do you spell R-E-L-I-E-F?

  209. Christy Says:

I just saw this posted on Politico-

Pawlenty still slated to do weekly radio show tomorrow

Every Friday morning, Tim Pawlenty has a weekly radio show on WCCO, the powerhouse station of the Twin Cities.

And, according to a release late this afternoon from the governor’s office, that is still his plan:

  210. Sarah Says:

I am going through a roller coaster ride of emotions. I hear so many confusing things about this. I should be packing for school. Maybe that will give me something to do tonight because I will get no sleep. I will toss and turn and toss and turn all night long.

  211. Christy Says:

I have to say that no matter what, at least Mitt got to speak against the politics of envy! (He did great on tv this week!) It’s funny, he has gotten blasted for contributing his own money for the campaign, when true conservatism is self-reliance and independence from others..kinda ironic that the guy that actually lived this conservatism gets shafted from those who claim to embrace it…amazing…

but, keep your chin up! Ya never know what can happen! You gotta think that McCain wants to WIN more than be top dog-(Pawlenty would not overshadow him for sure) wouldn’t it be worse if he loses? He must know he has a better chance to WIN with Romney…and this is McCain’s last shot at it! :)

  212. Jen Says:

    I need a valium

  213. Jen Says:

Am I stupid to keep hoping that it’s Mitt?

  214. Christy Says:

Just saw this up on Hotair.com–

Just a heads up to his fans to expect coal in their stockings tomorrow morning.

There are reports that I’m on my way to Dayton tonight. Not true. Wasn’t invited to be there and any reports that I’m going to be there are a big surprise to me. I have never been contacted by the McCain campaign at any point about the VP slot. I have never been asked for any information, background, etc., so as I have said repeatedly in interviews, I didn’t consider myself to be under any consideration. I think people thought I was being coy and just not talking, but I have built my political life on trying to shoot straight and tell it as it is and as I see it. I have been honest in telling you that I had no reason to believe I was ever seriously considered or “vetted” for the ticket. That’s why I have continued with HuckPAC because I have felt that we (me and you) shouldn’t give up, but rather gear up and help good pro-life, conservative people to office across the nation.

There were indeed reports that he’d be in Dayton as a show of solidarity with the other VP contenders, but I think they were simply confusing that with a rally in St. Louis on Sunday which he — and Romney — will (supposedly) attend. Exit question: Why go to the trouble of stressing he wasn’t invited tomorrow and that he wasn’t vetted? All that’ll do is stir up the same sense of grievance among the Huckheads that finding out Hillary wasn’t vetted stirred up in the PUMAs. Or is that the point?

  215. Christy Says:

sorry- forgot to tell ya that this is a Huckabee statement-

  216. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Hi everyone. Christy, unfortunately, I would think that getting the VP nod trumps being at the fair. I feel horrible.

  217. Leslie Says:

Pawlenty is Huck’s substitute. He will be brought in to keep the rabid evangelicals from bolting the party, without alienating the Mormons.

  218. Christy Says:

    Hi SteveninBrooklyn,

I know…..just looking for anything out there tonight that may be encouraging at all…and to go there, I agree…why would Pawlenty’s office let such a huge hint of non-consideration for vp out of the box…hard to buy it–however….I still think McCain wants to WIN more than anything else! :)

  219. Sarah Says:

Does any body else but me feel that the SS are with every possible candidate for President of VP because they have too be. Maybe this is just normal SS stuff and normal protocol the day before a big announcement like your VP nominee? Or maybe I am just bloviating. Really though, Romney’s schedule has been kept shut mouth. That should tell us something. We know that Romney will be at all three McCain events this weekend. So I am keeping up a clear thought. It is either Romney or Pawlenty. Nobody else. Huckabee will not be at all three events so I don’t think we have to worry about him.

  220. Leslie Says:

I think we all know it’s not Huckabee. But at least with Huckabee you would know what you were getting — a true and pure bigot. And that’s attractive to a certain percentage of republicans. With Pawlenty, you just have the suspicion that you’re being taken for a ride. I mean come on - Pawlenty?

  221. Karen Says:

Sarah, is there a true report of SS for anyone? Way earlier today, the nitwits on the Fox panel said SS were not following anyONE so far as they knew. I would love if you knew something.

  222. Chris Says:

Does ANYONE know where Romney is right now? They pulled him out of Denver, he went to hang with his son in SD (said his floors in his new house were being refinished - telling me he did not build a home, but bought an existing one), then left. No one knows where he is. Romney is now offically MIA.

And all the talk about Pawlenty. Remember last week with Byah? Now were saying ‘Byah who?’

  223. Chris Says:

It is not common for SS to ’sweep’ realtives homes, unless they are housing a person they need to protect. It is not common to guard someone, unless they actually have the party’s nom. Exception Obama. He’s had SS for some time now. Since before he got the nomination.

My hubby said he heard Romney had SS with him. Now, he could have misunderstood. English is not my hubby’s first language. And just leaving with no trace, like he did. i don’t know. All this Paw Paw talk, could be a huge fakeout.

  224. Karen Says:

I think that is the secret Chris… where did he go with his bag today? And are there SS people around him?? And finally, where is Anne???

    Good questions all… K

  225. Karen Says:

Chris, our posts overlapped. I had a feeling you would know the answers to some of those questions… anything else??

Is it possible then that Romney is at his sister’s house being protected??? k

  226. Chris Says:

Karen. That’s a very good possiblity that he’s at his sister’s home. I think it’s not far from the place in Ohio. We could be wrong, or we could be right. Heck, I want Mitt, and will have a very difficult time pulling the lever with someone handpicked by the bigot birdcage. Honestly, I’d rather have the 4 years in he–ck than 4 years of the wimpsquad.

  227. EVELIO PEREZ Says:

  228. Karen Says:

You can say HELL, it’s in the Bible!!!

I cannot fathom this either. I cannot bear the thought of McCain throwing the election away on inexperience and trading it for the brightness and articulation and perfection that is Mitt… I cannot imagine it at all. It is too too sad…. I like this other scenario that we are talking about.

Do we know for sure about this sweep @ Mitt’s sister’s house???

  229. Karen Says:

Perhaps Evelio answered that question for us… I hope not

  230. EVELIO PEREZ Says:

BREAKING NEWS , GRETA JUST ANOUNCED ROMNEY TO BE IN OHIO TOMORROW !

  231. Sarah Says:

I have no clue what the SS protocol is. That is why they are good (we hope) at what they do.

I need to go relax but I just can’t.

  232. Chris Says:

    WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ok. I’m calm now.

Head fake of the first order? Or is it true? Please, please please please.

Man, I’ve 12 reports to write tonight, and I can’t get squato done!

Then there’s this quote from Pawlent today about his plans for gov.

“Whether or not he’s McCain’s running mate, Pawlenty has gained a valuable eight weeks of intense news media exposure as one of the Republicans on McCain’s short list.

His gubernatorial term ends in January 2011, and he said Thursday he’ll make his plans known early next year.”

  233. Karen Says:

Well, it does seem clear at least that Mitt is traveling with protection, but the question is who paid for it? I am so confused… K

  234. Karen Says:

uh, make that protective services…. argh

  235. Karen Says:

Chris, what exactly are you so excited about besides the quote???

I am enjoying group therapy all day today…

  236. Michelle Says:

BREAKING NEWS ON FOX RIGHT NOW: Mitt Romney is SCHEDULED TO FLY TO DAYTON TOMORROW. Huckabee informed his supporters that he will not be there. Pawlenty has announced NO PLANS to fly to Dayton tommorrow…so is it Mitt? Is this possibly the ‘leak’??

  237. Chris Says:

    Sarah
SS do not ’sweep’ relatives homes. Unless someone they are protecting needs to stay there. They ususally do it in advance of the visit, about 24 hours prior and a quick sweep right before. They do not sweep the homes of adult children of ‘potential’s’. They do go to the nominee and protect them and his/her family. Not all adult children are given SS coverage. It is up to the nominee or the elected offical, not the SS. Chelsea Clinton still has agents on her. Michael Reagan and the other Reagans do not. Nancy does. Bill and Hillary Clinton do. Obama and Biden and their familes and minor children (unless asked for the adult children).
In light of all the SS movement last weekend, I can see why Mitt went first to SD, then quietly slipped out of town with a carryone. He could easily meet with the SS and no one would be none the wiser.
Huck is not going to Ohio. But is PawPaw? It was reported earlier that Huck, Pawlenty and Romney would all be there. Another fakeout?

  238. Chris Says:

no. I can’t take this. CPR, someone. PLEASE!

  239. Michelle Says:

I think the ‘leak’ is that McCain is expecting us to do the ‘math’.

  240. Karen Says:

Remember Chris, C-T-R… breathe in breathe out…

  241. Karen Says:

I am rotten at math, it always has to be explained to me… so, please explain!!!

  242. Chris Says:

Ah yes! CTR. Once this is over, I can breath again.

Pawlenty says he’s not going to Ohio. Huckles puts out a press release that He’s not going either (even though earlier in the day, it was reported BOTH were going). Pawlenty now says he’ll make a decision in January, about running for a 3rd term as gov? I don’t know. Either McCain is a good faker, or he’s a really bad faker. We’ll know in a few hours.

Anyone else heading to Ohio? Or is Pawlenty not telling the truth.

  243. Karen Says:

    I’m going to bed….K

  244. 2thepoint Says:

    I’m lovin’ this “PawPaw” name.
