Housekeeping Topic For The Next Couple of Days…
August 28th, 2008 Posted in This Site
I’m going to put various stuff on this topic over the following 48hrs.
2thepoint I accidentally spammed one of your comments (the one about Meg Whitman) sorry about that.
The server hiccuped again, but we’re back up again. You all are just so energetic tonight. It’s ok though, don’t worry. Carry on please!
I’m going out for a band meeting for my son for an hour. I look forward to seeing more of your comments when I return! GO MITT GO!

Mitt has totally plummeted on Intrade. Drudge is hinting strongly at Pawlenty. The talking heads are saying Mitt is out due to the housing issue. They also said the only way McCain can win is to nominate a homeless woman. That way he gets all the Hillary voters PLUS everyone who hates homeowners! SCORE! Ok, they didn’t say that but they might as well.

We’ll know the VP pick in 16 hours. We don’t know who it is yet, and it could very well be Romney, but Mitt supporters need to be ready in case it isn’t. As I said earlier, exactly who the pick is should determine whether we should support the ticket, but in any non-mitt scenario, we should turn out focus to 2012.
Might want to take a month-long break though - politics is exhausting.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
It would be a shame though to see McCain pick bootlick-loyalty over experience and qualifications, though.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
No problem, Ann. Enjoy your band meeting. We’ll be here through this crazy night.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Prepare for a shame, Matthew. (I hope not but…eh)

Regarding Meg Whitman, she’s a real pioneer and could do great things on the political scene. I saw her on stage with Mitt at a rally here last winter. I yelled her name with a little cheer. She gave me a twinkly smile and afterward, found me in the crowd and we had a quick chat.
She’s good stuff. If her political leanings have been more liberal, I believe her endorsement and campaigning for Mitt signals a shift in philosophy.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
I like Meg Whitman. It won’t be her but I like her.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
I’m pretty sure its Pawlenty, unless McCain goes totally bonkers and goes with Lieberman.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I’m sure it’s grasping at straws, but it’d sure be funny if it WAS Mitt tomorrow . . .
All the head fakes, and watching the media scramble.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
In 2008 we have seen the death of clear objectivity in the press and the death of the successful business man.
I can’t believe that having too many houses means that you cannot be the VP. This is unbelievable.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
How many houses does Cheney own?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
I do not think McCain will win the White House if he picks Pawlenty.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
we will be voting for Barr - McCain has stuck his finger in the eyes of conservatives one too many times for us. He is the one who made the lame response about the houses that stirred everything up and he throws Mitt under the bus - no thank you “Maverick” Mitt was the ONLY reason to get excited for the ticket - Pawlenty is an unknown and does not stand a chance against the Chicago Mafia and tough guy Biden. Mitt was the Only one who could do that. My disappointment is overwhelming.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Just vote democratic this cycle. Think of it as a protest vote against republican stupidity.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Leslie, I couldn’t bring myself to vote for Obama . . . but I sure as heck am not voting McCain if he did indeed pick Pawlenty.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
It does feel like we lost the election already doesn’t it. Tomorrow will make that feeling even more resolute.
I know we’re all Mitt supporters and this hits us particularly hard than most. However, I don’t feel it’s an overstatement that Pawlenty does not have the gravitas to inspire millions to vote. Mitt has the record of accomplishment and the message of a broken government.
In 13 hours we’ll find out if its true….
August 28th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
If it’s Pawlenty, McCain’s goin’ down. I’m sure Mac thinks the reliable, forgiving Mormons will swallow his dissing of Mitt and vote Republican as usual.
I’d sure like to see that change.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
I’m sure McCain feels that his Unity Tour featuring Mitt and Huck will assuage any disappointment in the ranks.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
2thepoint: Agreed! Wouldn’t it be heaven if McCain/Pawlenty lost Utah? But Mormons are just waaaaayyy too forgiving.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
SED, appreciate your keeping us up-to-date on the countdown. McCain probably told Romney that he will have a Cabinet position. Big duh. McCain ain’t gonna be elected without Mitt on the ticket.
I’d love to record all the secret back-slapping, rib-nudging, and eye-winking the radical Evangelicals will be doing. The good ol’ radical Baptist guys and gals…
The pilgrims left England to escape the likes of them. We can’t let this crap continue.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
McCain thinks wrongly then, at least on Huck’s end.
Gosh, I do despise that man. Heaven help me for saying that.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Ditto to all the comments here. My feelings exactly. Mitt was the only reason to vote for McCain. I will write in Mitts name in protest but I feel assured that McCain will win Utah.
Was Biden up on in trade the night before he was discovered?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
The Republican Party is being held hostage by radical, bigoted religious hypocrites. Why do we put up with this stuff in America?!
This has got to change!
August 28th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
I hope all Mormons who were supporting Romney write his name on on election day.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
This is one Roman Catholic -along with many others - who will be writing in Mitt come election day..
August 28th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Roman Catholic and will write Mitt Romney on my ballot.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Wonderful to hear, Marybeth. I hope everyone of all faiths and of no religious persuasion who were backing Romney think seriously about writing in his name.
It’s time to break the heavy fist of radical evangelism.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Evelio, you rock! You’ve placed many good links on this site for all of us to read.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Hope McCain checked out this site if he plans on picking Pawlenty. Actually Pawlentys wife is more impressive.

August 28th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
it looking like it might be time to focus on 2012…
Let get past the convention, see what happens, and if it isn’t Romney, I’ll look into putting together a big chat somehow to start looking towards the formation of a Romney in 2012 site…
August 28th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Good plan, Matthew Kilburn. Huck’s Army is already marching on.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Regardless of the pick, Mitt will be on my ballot.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Where is the leak that says it is Pawlenty? Why is everyone saying it is Pawlenty? Just the fact that he cancelled his appointments?
August 28th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
David, my hope is that it is an elaborate ploy to throw the media off Mitt’s tail. My fear is that it really is true.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Does anyone else feel like crying if its not Mitt?
August 28th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Just try to remember Sarah, that Mitt is not VP material — he is presidential material.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Even if Mitt is the VP now, I have lost respect for McCain in the way he is handling this.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
McCain is running and congratulating Obama and saying that this is his night to shine. Plus, Rove said it would be smarter to wait for the announcement and not compete with the “ONES” speech. Tomorrow it will get more coverage. Hopefully this roller coaster will continue up and up and up. Please let it be Romney.
I will fall hard if it is not Mitt. Hopefully, we will all be celebrating tomorrow.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
I should have said McCain is running an ad…
