Okay I watched the first couple minutes of President Clinton's speech and I have to give some props to him or his speech writer to come up with the line "The heat generated in the democratic primary probably contributed to Global Warming." That was actually very memorable and kind of in a way making fun of the hoopla (of course this is just me) that the Dems are making about Global Warming.

We all need to take a deep breath. We stood strong for a wonderful cause. Mitt is ready for this challenge, we are ready for this challenge, you realize the work just begins once that VP Mitt is announced. We'll all be on adrenalin surge, only for two more months. We can do it. We are Americans! Let go, let God. It's his plan for Mitt and our country.

Sarah, I love the evangelicalsformitt site! I especially love when they tell the other "Es" to quit speaking for them. I love that part.

I am sick to my stomach about the end of this week... pins and needles!

Karen- I agree with you. I feel perfectly comfortable watching Mitt admit that he and McCain don't agree on everything. It should be that way in the Republican party, that we allow open debate. That people can say what they what without forgetting the core principles of the Republican party which are limited government, stronger families, and a free market system is a good thing. If we can see that in the ticket we have the base and moderates.

On a tangent. I really dislike having the media say the Base of the party is evangelicals. That is just not true! I consider myself part of the base. I consider anyone who is truly a rounded conservative, not just either social or fiscal or foreign policy but all three are the base.

By the way check out www.evangelicalsformitt.com

oh, btw, yes, the DNC is just boring. But for me, it is also annnoying. So many of those people just get on my nerves so badly. Did you ever notice that Shrillary just hollars all the time??? She has got to be the loudest female on the planet. And Nancy Pelosi? Quiet, boring and plain wrong! Kucinich? Convulsive. Michelle Obama? I can't even figure out what all she said! Now, mind you, I did not listen to all of any of these people's talks, so I don't know all. I just base my observations on the little I did heare. Ich! It is one of the reasons I am not a dem, I cannot stand hollaring. Well, that's probably reason number 5,555.... there are so many other reasons... K

I like this open forum. I have been and out of meetings today, but it sure has been interesting to read them. I wonder what will happen on Friday or Thursday or whenever. I am so nervous! I am so prayerful!!! I hpe and pray JMc does the right thing. I am encouraged for some reason watching Mitt admit that he and McCain do NOT see eye to eye on everything. That is good!

Yes, Mitt got press credentials and is at the Dem convention. Isn't that great?!

He was so effective as an attack dog today - McCain will be such a fool if he picks someone else.

Tomorrow Mitt is going to Nevada to campaign for McCain, then to CA on Thursday to spend time with family. Pawlenty will be in Denver on Thursday and is scheduled to be back in MN on Friday.

The suspense is driving me nuts!

The democrats don't want to win this election. 2 nights now they have come out with absolutely no reason for an undecided to vote for Obama.

None.

Last night the convention felt like The Tribute To Barack. Tonight Hillary Clinton tried to place herself as an icon to womens rights. The speakers before them all shout something about Bush/McCain policies, oil, and change. Tomorrow night we have another Clinton night that does not look like better than the last 2.

No wonder this campaign is starting to fall in the polls. Its going to be interesting to see how the RNC works out. Hopefully with a great speach from the VP Mitt Romney.

I loved listening to Mitt talking to Cavuto. I didn't hear that line though, I left to come play on my computer. That is funny. I think that picture is a fake...No way in Heaven would they have a picture with McCain in the background. No a picture with them side by side is more like it. That did give me goose bumps (just slightly). Anyone else worried though that we will be disappointed again? I hope not.

Did anyone catch the facial expressions of Hillary Clinton in the convention, she rolled her eyes more then once during her speech. It was hilarious. I really don't think she wants Obama to win...no matter what positive spin the Dem's want to put on this.

I agree with the slogan the Dem's are "not ready 08 a mile high, an inch deep".

McCain/Romney 08(hopefully). We will know Friday. Any one else can't wait...Three more days!

Brent, I'm a CPA. Romney cannot write off that loan - period. It would be considered a political contribution/donation to his campaign, which is not tax-deductible for him.

Yes, forgiving that loan was a good thing to do from a goodwill gesture perspective. However, that's an awful LOT of goodwill!

Which was what sent my mind a-wondering . . . why? When he could have raised a good bit of that $ right after he bowed out with a 1-time special appeal to his contributors?

I know Mitt is unselfish that way - refusing his Olympic & governor's salaries. But $40 million?

That's why I'm thinking McCain may have chosen Mitt a long time ago . . . maybe around the time Mitt forgave that debt . . . and all of the Veep talk about other candidates has been just that. For the whole dramatic effect and to steal the spotlight away from the Obamessiah.

I'm not saying this is at all a bad thing on either McCain's or Mitt's part. I'm just saying it might be a clue.

Or not.

Oh, heck, who knows? LOL

Bigmo, re-read what I posted. I didn't say that I was unable to post previously.

As for Romney: I am convinced that he'll be the pick. His interviews on today's news shows (to me, at least) that he already knows he's the VP pick. Now, if he's picked and McCain suddenly quits, I'll have no problem voting for the Republican this year.

Wow, the Democrat convention is a dud, huh? I mean, perhaps I haven't been paying enough attention in the past, but this is totally uninspiring.

What are the tax issues with loaning your campaign money and then not defaulting on the loan? $40-50 meg is a lot of money even for Mitt. I suppose it like the government picking up 1/3 of the 40 meg. Perhaps it knocked this years income down to zero. Perhaps he qualified for earned income credit(although I doubt he would have taken it) It would be interesting to know. In any case it was the right thing to do. Look at Hillary pleading poverty. I think they are both worth 50 meg or so.

I am so ashamed of all the bigots in our party putting a full court press against Mitt now.

I will be happy when this is over, Mitt and his family do not deserve the ignorance aimed at them.

I hope McCain shows his Maverick side in a way that benefits conservatives by picking Romney to be his VP.

THen Mitt can go on to show all the haters and doubters just how extraordinary a VP he can be.

This jpg of McCain and Romney as the ticket was supposedly found on McCain's website. The file has since been removed but here is a copy of it. Looks great but I have no idea if a fake. Intrade has Romney over 70 now.

Just read Pawlenty is getting two spots to speak at the Republican Convention. First and Last night. If he was VP they wouldn't be scheduling it that way.

No Matter What-NoBama....I use to think that I would not vote for McCain if he did not pick Mitt for VP, but then I learned about the supreme court decision about the gun control in DC. By ONE vote the DC ban failed. This means that the next time one of these bans is tested in the SC, AFTER an Obama appointment, we all may loose the right to protect our families. We cannot afford to let Obama appoint his type to the court.

Nate Gunderson - Isn't there a fund raiser next week- somewhere in the midwest- where Mitt, McCain and the Huckster will be campaigning together? Before the rally, here's what should happen behind closed doors: Maverick needs to tactfully tell Huckster the Primaries are OVER and that Huck needs to make good with his VP(Mitt)for party unity and the evangelical vote- i.e. shut the Huck up.

Money quote from Cavuto:

“Mitt Romney suggested Tuesday that criticisms he leveled at John McCain during the GOP primaries would not block him from becoming the Republican nominee for vice president, arguing that he never questioned his one-time rival’s readiness to be president the way the Democratic nominee for vice president questioned Barack Obama.”

You're right Paulee; you can tell that Cavuto enjoys talking to Mitt. Cavuto REALLY liked Mitt's answer regarding how many houses he has (someone commented earlier) that he has one less than John Kerry! BRILLIANT and hilarious!

When Mitt was asked about debating Biden, he said that, he, Biden, had an impenetrable thicket of words, but he can't speak enough to cover up Obama's obvious shot comings. That was on Cavuto interview. He's soooooo quick and intelligent. Cavuto was holding back his laugh, he likes Mitt.

Saw Mitt on Cavuto’s show - he was unruffled and articulate as ever. I had a smidgeon of feeling that Mitt is the cat that has swallowed the V.P. canary. Tweet! Tweet!

He looked tired to me – like he’s been burning midnight oil campaigning for McCain and working extra-extra long hours working on a V.P. nomination speech, studying the issues – economy, Russia/ Georgia powder keg, taking down Joe Biden, etc. If he’s the Veep, there are family arrangements to be made; with his large family – no small undertaking. I’m sure Ann is on top of that.

It will sure be great to see the entire Romney tribe on the convention stand!

I think the press conference that Mitt had this afternoon maybe up on video tomorrow at notready08.com

It looks like they upload the video the following day of the live feed. I'm guessing though, since their press conference from yesterday is the only latest video available.

I am with you Andrew, when someone invites me to speak and say whatever suits my fancy, suddenly I am tongue tied which is odd since I am the most talkative person I know! I guess for me, it is the same thing always: I like Mitt and want him as VP.

This has been loads of fun to read everyone's thoughts!

PS... I want to know how to make my comments or workds italicized??? K

What, did Mike Huckabee just e-mail you to tell you that? ;-)

One more thought: whereas, before, Team McCain had an interest in keeping the VP choice a secret, they may now want to allow leaks to distract from the DNC...

John,

McCain has said that Mitt will be a leader of the Party in the years to come. At last springs' CPAC convention, Mitt was asked to be "the face of conservatism" in a private meeting with powerful conservatives.

In my mind, there is no question that Gov. Romney is following the model of Ronald Reagan in working to build up the party and his own political future after not getting the results he needed on Super Tuesday. If Huckabee does not turn his persona 180 degrees in the opposite direction, he will be a pariah within the Republican Party, just as he already attained that status here among our commenters.

Looking around at this election cycle's promary candidates, I don't see anyone who comes near Mitt Romney's stature. I liked Duncan Hunter's positions very much, but for some reason I don't understand, he never caught fire.

How do I say this without sounding like an idiot....I would think this person is in the second or third ring of media'ish people. Hugh Hewitt is, one would think, in the first of those ringe, and I plan to listen to hear if he gives any further clues.

OK, I did not succeed in not sounding like an idiot....

Steven, if that was supposed to be a link to the conference, its not working for me. I can't wait to hear Mitt, and I was curious about Cantor, I've heard good things about him but I've never heard him speak.

SteveninBrooklyn, if that is the case, that is quite exciting.

Most of the vibes out there are encouraging. But I have to keep reminding myself this is McCain we're talking about; he loves his reputation as a Maverick and loves sticking it to us conservatives.

Is your semi-connected source in a really good position to know?
