  1. John Says:

I will honestly have to think long and hard about voting for Sen. McCain, if he does not select Gov. Romney as the VP. To me, it would speak directly about Sen. McCains judgement, or lack there of, in not selecting Romney. A person such as Romney does not usually put themselves out there in public service. We should be so lucky to have such a person like Romney, that feels a sense of service for our country. That is why we need to flood the media with the fact that we want Romney as VP. We need to do this by e-mail, call all talk radio shows and really just scream at the top of our lungs our support for Romney. Let’s get creative in getting the word out. I think Romney on the ticket gives McCain Col., Nev. and puts Mich. in play.(Obama would have to spend time and money in a very blue state)
I also would like to throw out a couple of questions to everyone. If Romney is not the VP, is he still the face of the Republican party in the future? How does this all play out if McCain wins or if Obama wins? I guess what I really want to know is if we missed our chance of having President Mitt Romney?
This is a great site, thanks to all of those that have a hand in it.
    God Bless!

  2. Marybeth Says:

Does anything else still think - or hope - that a deal was made between McCain & Mitt back when Mitt bowed out of the Presidential race in early February?

Is anyone else wondering why Mitt forgave that $40 million loan from his campaign? To me, he seems too smart to do that without a really good reason. I could believe the goodness of his heart and unselfishness got him to do it . . . but that’s an awful lot of $ to forget about.

    Some food for thought . . .

  3. Steveninbrooklyn Says:

Hey, greetings from Queens, not Brooklyn. Could someone explain that debt forgiveness thing. Particularly with McCain going the public financing route, I dont understand the how the loan forgiveness thing impacts upon running as vp.

  4. SED Says:

When Mitt endorsed John McCain it looked to me like the greatest piece of political expedience that I had seen in a long time. McCain wouldn’t even look at Mitt as he read his written statement. I felt at the time some type of deal must have been struck. Maybe just to be placed on the VP shortlist or at least be considered.

If John McCain wins and Mitt is not the VP he may have a future in 2012 only if McCain decides to serve 1 term. Otherwise we’ll have to rely on McCain’s administration to be Democrat-lite so we can ouster him in the primaries.

If Obama wins I’d guarantee we’ll see Mitt again and for the next 4 years he’ll be the standard-bearer of the party.

I also feel win or lose Mitt will always have a political voice and will enjoy his life with his family.

  5. Stephen Says:

I believe that Mitt forgiving the 40m allows the Republican fund raising efforts to focus on raising capital for McCain, instead of having fund raising events to provide Mitt with the 40m he invested in his campaign.

  6. Trooperdad Says:

Romney on the ticket–I vote for McCain. Romney not on the ticket–I don’t vote, period. As for if a deal was made when Romney suspended his campaign, who cares? I’m almost not sure what the face of republican party will be. I’d like to think it could be Mitt Romney. However, I’m not sure if republicans (in general) know what the core values of the party are anymore. If there was a conservative, all-American party, that’s where you’d find me.

  7. SED Says:

By forgiving his own debt; Mitt is not asking his supporters for contributions to pay it back. Thus freeing his supporters to use their money towards McCain.
Currently this very issue is causing a lot of problems between Hillary and Barack. Hillary currently is about $29 million in debt and Barack said he would help her pay it down. His support has been anemic.

In regards to the VP for Mitt, it may ultimately be good politics to close any divide that would separate him from McCain.

  8. Leslie Says:

I thought maybe a deal had been struck earlier in the year, because Mitt bowed out so quickly. I seriously don’t think McCain still knows who he is going to pick. I know it’s between Mitt, Lieberman, and Pawlenty. If he’s smart, he’ll go with Mitt, because Mitt is a great attack dog. He’ll get the base fired up like nobody else can.

  9. Joe Says:

I echo those couple of comments that if Mitt isn’t picked, I don’t see how I could support McCain. I am very disappointed that my top 3 conservative choices in the primary, Romney, Thompson, and Hunter, all lost.

I decided that if McCain and the GOP do not pick Mitt, it means a slap in the face to conservatives, and I will return that slap with my non-vote. I would rather have the opposition in the white house than see the GOP stray further and further from conservative principles.

Picking Mitt as VP resolves my concern… we could ask for no better economist, family-focused, hard working, and successful example of a person to be on the ticket. So if that happens, I, a Michigan resident who will be living in Michigan and Ohio during the election cycle, will do everything I possibly can to get McCain elected and make sure these two states vote McCain. But with Mitt not on the ticket, I will do nothing campaign-wise and will simply write in Mitt.

I voted for McCain in the 200 primaries. Since then, I’ve been disappointed when it comes to conservative issues. But I have the highest respect for him, and I beleive in him. I’ve been coming around to him more and more, but not picking Mitt will just send me right back to where I started… wondering what happenned to conservatism in the GOP.

After there was no more choice for me in the GOP primaries (no more conservatives… ie no more Romney, Thompson, Hunter, or Tancredo), I have refrained from calling myself a republican. This VP choice may very well be the defining moment for me. If a pro-choicer is called up, I’m no longer a republican. If Huck is called up, I’ll be campaigning for Obama. If Mitt is called up, I become a republican once again and I go ballistic suporting McCain with my money and my efforts for the next few months. I would love to be reunified under McCain’s leadership. And as both a military member and a business owner, I would love nothing more than to have McCain as commander-in-chief, and Romney as the expert economist VP.

But what if some smaller-name conservative is picked up. Well, I won’t buy it. That won’t reunify me. I’d view it as pandering and not taking the most qualified guy, trying to play politics. So I’ll write in Mitt in that situation.

  10. Tami Says:

Great posts everyone. I gain so much insight by visiting here. I just have a quick question… I know Mitt and Giulliani are supposed to be in Denver today and tomorrow I think campaigning. Does anyone know if/when we will be able to see any of this on tv or internet? I want to be sure to see clips if I can.

  11. Tami Says:

    Just found this at: http://notready08.com/Response/005.htm

“At 1:15 p.m. MT, Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) will hold a press conference at our Denver headquarters to highlight the “economic disaster” that is Barack Obama’s tax and spend plan. Governor Romney will be joined by U.S. Representatives Eric Cantor (R-VA), Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).”

  12. amy Says:

I will vote for McCain if Romney is VP. I will probably vote for him anyway. I just cant let Obama become the President.
But, my husband is voting for Bob Barr, even though he is a huge Romney supporter. He said if Romney runs with McCain he is a sell-out.
I am working on him though.

  13. Joe Says:

    On the future…

I think the most crucial issue is for Romney to prove himself on conservative issues that he others have been critical of… work hard over the next 4 years on those things, and we all do the same.

I think its a win-win situation either way things work out. If Romney isn’t picked for VP, Obama wins and Romney wins in 2012. If Romney is picked, McCain wins this year, and Romney can run in 2012 either way (or at least 2016). If for some reason Romney and McCain do don’t win this year, Romney is still able to come back in 2012.

  14. bigmo Says:

A sell out on what? Amnesty? Bob Barr supports it. Bob Barr holds most of McCain’s positions, except he wants to surrender in the war on terror.

  15. amy Says:

    Bigmo
I couldnt tell you. I dont follow Bob Barr. I really believe when he walks in to vote, he will vote for McCain. He was really impressed with McCain at Saddleback.

I grew up in a Democratic family. I have my Dad, Mom, & brother voting for McCain. They have never voted Republican before. I have always been a Republican since I started voting while in the Navy. I am really shocked they are switching up. I am hoping once they see the light they will never go back. Hopefully that happens to alot of voters.

  16. lucy Says:

why is everyone being so pesimistic, did i miss anything?
as i see it mccain has to see that Mitt Romney is the only one who can stengthen the ticket enough to give the party the best chance to win. We are lucky to have mitt romney in the running to scare off the opponents with his obvious
    qualifying character and experience!

  17. Marybeth Says:

You are totally right, bigmo. Bob Barr is the exact copy of McCain, ever since he became a Libertarian.

My sister said today she will NOT vote for McCain unless Mitt is on the ticket. Period. She is very frustrated with McCain’s sticking it in the eyes of conservatives time and again. She thinks he is the height of arrogance and that he will go as far left as he and his advisors believe he can with his VP pick. This will say to us - “There, you jerks (to use a favorite word of his)! Now who are you going to vote for?”

She doesn’t trust him one bit.

If Mitt isn’t picked, I’ll feel close to the same way.

The only other people I would feel somewhat comfortable with would be Jindal and possibly Palin. But then McCain will lose a major advantage in this race - experience.

Pawlenty - Ugh. He’s a huge greene-weenie; he could not get elected in Minnesota with a majority of the vote (only a plurality); he said, “The era of small government is over”; he looks down on people with money just like Huckabee(his “Sam’s Club Republican” remark really riled me); and he got the wind knocked out of him in his TV appearance with Evan Bayh (which was really sad, because Bayh is generally a pushover).

Oh, but he’s the right religion, so he’s under consideration.

Crist - hopefully not. But maybe McCain would put him in a Cabinet position and we’d get rid of him here in Florida

Ridge, Powell, Lieberman - SHOULD be out of the running, since they’re pro-choice and IF we can believe McCain.

We’ll see how believable he is with his choice of running mate.

  18. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Lucy, I think it’s the sign of a healthy mind to be, if not pessimistic, than at least sober and realistic. These last few months, John McCain and/or his team have shown themselves to be very smart, and savvy. McCain has paid Mitt Romney a number of great complements. I doubt the number of Romney supports he has, undoubtedly met while campaigning has escaped him. I think he will pick Mitt Romney because he knows doing so will energize his campaign in a number of key states.

  19. Marybeth Says:

btw, I’m not really too pessimistic. All of the signs point to Mitt as the nominee. He is the best fit for VP. McCain knows he is the best pick.

The only things that could stand in the way are McCain’s arrogance, stubbornness, and ability to hold grudges - which admittedly are big obstacles.

Has anyone seen where Mitt is supposed to be on Thursday or Friday?

  20. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

(oy; why can’t I write in a Web page box: suppports-supporters)

  21. SED Says:

There is a press conference with Mitt in Denver rebutting Obama’s economic plan on notready08.com

  22. Marybeth Says:

Mitt sounds GREAT and so competent.

Doesn’t McCain see that he is far and away the best pick? He blows every other possible nominee away!

  23. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

  24. Tami Says:

He did such a GREAT job. I missed the first 15 minutes or so of this and am so bummed. What did I miss?!?!? LOL I didn’t know they were going to play them live there… figured I’d have to try and catch it on TV somewhere.

Anyway, what I did see what was wonderful!

  25. SED Says:

He started to stammer a bit when he attacked Biden’s judgement on foreign policy. I think he was worried about appearing to be the VP.

  26. SED Says:

Otherwise, your right Marybeth he was great. The other three he had with him let him take the majority of the questions. Cantor was one of the three. Cantor didn’t appear like he had what it takes to step in to be POTUS at a moments notice.

  27. lucy Says:

I stiil feel that picking anyone else for any reason will keep the presidency out of his grasp, therefore even his stubborness or grudge holding will only play into his defeat. He’s waited too long. I hope I’m right!!

  28. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

I’d be curious if there’s some unconventional (no pun intended) way to announce the VP, and steal thunder from the DNC; doing it during Obama’s acceptance speech? Immediately after? Making the announcement in Denver?

  29. Marybeth Says:

StevenInBrooklyn, if - and that’s a BIG if - that rumor is true, then it’s Mitt. Kathryn Jean Lopez (”K-Lo”)is National Review’s online editor; she is a huge Mitt supporter and has been from the beginning.

  30. Tami Says:

SteveInBrooklyn - I don’t understand that link. What is it in response to? Is it a reply to an article or just what?

  31. Marybeth Says:

Tami, I think this is from “The Conrer” the National Review writers’ blog.

Doesn’t sound like Lisa Schiffren is too happy about the idea. Oh, well!

  32. Tami Says:

Thanks Marybeth! Who is Kathryn that she mentions?

  33. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Yes, Marybeth, that’s how I read it.

  34. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    Google Reader rules!

  35. Marybeth Says:

Tami, Kathryn Jean Lopez is the online editor of National Review and loves Mitt.

  36. Tami Says:

Ohhhh okay! *thumps self* LOL I get it now LOL Sorry to be so dumb!

  37. amy Says:

After watching the press conference, I definitely believe Mitt is going to be the VP nominee. There is nobody more ready than Mitt.

  38. Marybeth Says:

    Not dumb at all, Tami.

Too many rumors swirling around . . . sigh.

Now you hear Mitt’s not the one, now you hear he is. I’m getting a headache from it all.

One way or another, I’ll know by Friday if I’m going to miss voting in the presidential election for the first time since I registered to vote. (Hope I’m not going to have to break that streak.)

  39. Eric Says:

I won’t vote for McCain unless Romney is on the ticket, though I have stopped clicking on every McCain ad I see so I guess I am no longer hostile to him. I was fed up with politics before this election until I read about Mitt Romney, then I was full of life and hope (that’s right BHO, real hope), but now, if there is no Romney on the ticket I will just be too let down to vote Republican.

  40. amy Says:

  41. Paulee & Mike Says:

What press conference, did anyone get that so we can see it? Right now, Neil Cavuto has Mitt coming on Fox.

  42. SED Says:

    Amy,

I am shocked!!! Absolutely shocked that Barack Obama is associated with another shady and corrupt individual.

Here is a preview of what an Obama administration would look like. I live in MA and bear it everyday.

    http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MWMxNzgyZWMxNzkwNjhhNDFlYjBhZjYwODU4YzU5Zjk=&w=MA==

  43. Makeli Says:

  44. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

I just got “Mitt confirmation” from another, at least semi-connected source. My guess is that the decision has been made. I would be very interested in seeing a video of the press conference.

This is going to be exciting. And most exciting because if the Democrats don’t win this election, the Democratic Party runs a significant risk of splintering. This is going to be fun!

  45. Tami Says:

SED - Great article. Thanks for the link. Just shows how much we need an EXPERIENCED POTUS this year!!

Watched Mitt on Neal Cavuto and as always, he did a fantastic job. My favorite line is when he was asked how many homes he has, he answered with “one less than John Kerry” LOL

  46. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

(today’s press conference with Mr. Romney, Cantor, etc.)

  47. Tami Says:

StevenInBrookly - You can’t tell us who your semi-connected source is huh? LOL Well I do hope you’re right!

  48. Marybeth Says:

SteveninBrooklyn, if that is the case, that is quite exciting.

Most of the vibes out there are encouraging. But I have to keep reminding myself this is McCain we’re talking about; he loves his reputation as a Maverick and loves sticking it to us conservatives.

Is your semi-connected source in a really good position to know?

  49. bigmo Says:

Steven, if that was supposed to be a link to the conference, its not working for me. I can’t wait to hear Mitt, and I was curious about Cantor, I’ve heard good things about him but I’ve never heard him speak.

  50. bigmo Says:

Oh nevermind, I get what that was. Sorry.

  51. bigmo Says:

They just said on Fox News that McCain may make his VP pick tomorrow, the day before Obama’s speech.

  52. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

How do I say this without sounding like an idiot….I would think this person is in the second or third ring of media’ish people. Hugh Hewitt is, one would think, in the first of those ringe, and I plan to listen to hear if he gives any further clues.

OK, I did not succeed in not sounding like an idiot….

  53. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    (HH is on in 1/2hr)

  54. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

(If Dean Barnett is on HH’s show, that will be even more intruguing since they are both in that first ring, especially Dean).

  55. bigmo Says:

Hugh is awesome, but I’d take pro-Mitt VP speculation from his camp with a grain of salt. He’s an eternal optimist when it comes to Mitt Romney (which is part of what I like about him.)

  56. bigmo Says:

Also, you didn’t sound like an idiot (especially compared to me thinking your post followup was a hyperlink.)

  57. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

bigmo, yes he is an optimist, but Dean Barnett much less so. The two might very well discuss today’s RNC presentation in Denver.

  58. John Cronin Says:

    John,

McCain has said that Mitt will be a leader of the Party in the years to come. At last springs’ CPAC convention, Mitt was asked to be “the face of conservatism” in a private meeting with powerful conservatives.

In my mind, there is no question that Gov. Romney is following the model of Ronald Reagan in working to build up the party and his own political future after not getting the results he needed on Super Tuesday. If Huckabee does not turn his persona 180 degrees in the opposite direction, he will be a pariah within the Republican Party, just as he already attained that status here among our commenters.

Looking around at this election cycle’s promary candidates, I don’t see anyone who comes near Mitt Romney’s stature. I liked Duncan Hunter’s positions very much, but for some reason I don’t understand, he never caught fire.

  59. Nate Gunderson Says:

I’ve got something to say. Huckabee makes me want to puke. That’s all.

  60. Marybeth Says:

    The feeling is mutual, Nate.

  61. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

    The feeling is mutual, Nate.

What, did Mike Huckabee just e-mail you to tell you that? ;-)

One more thought: whereas, before, Team McCain had an interest in keeping the VP choice a secret, they may now want to allow leaks to distract from the DNC…

  62. bigmo Says:

Duncan Hunter confused me to no end when he endorsed the Huckster after dropping out. His reason for rejecting Mitt? Because a company Mitt used to run had invested in China about a decade after he stopped running it…

  63. Andrew Says:

Dang. The ONE TIME that they let me post about anything and I cannot think of anything to say!

  64. bigmo Says:

Andrew, who is letting you post for the first time?

  65. Karen Says:

I am with you Andrew, when someone invites me to speak and say whatever suits my fancy, suddenly I am tongue tied which is odd since I am the most talkative person I know! I guess for me, it is the same thing always: I like Mitt and want him as VP.

This has been loads of fun to read everyone’s thoughts!

PS… I want to know how to make my comments or workds italicized??? K

  66. SED Says:

I think the press conference that Mitt had this afternoon maybe up on video tomorrow at notready08.com

It looks like they upload the video the following day of the live feed. I’m guessing though, since their press conference from yesterday is the only latest video available.

  67. 2thePoint Says:

Saw Mitt on Cavuto’s show - he was unruffled and articulate as ever. I had a smidgeon of feeling that Mitt is the cat that has swallowed the V.P. canary. Tweet! Tweet!

He looked tired to me – like he’s been burning midnight oil campaigning for McCain and working extra-extra long hours working on a V.P. nomination speech, studying the issues – economy, Russia/ Georgia powder keg, taking down Joe Biden, etc. If he’s the Veep, there are family arrangements to be made; with his large family – no small undertaking. I’m sure Ann is on top of that.

It will sure be great to see the entire Romney tribe on the convention stand!

  68. Paulee & Mike Says:

When Mitt was asked about debating Biden, he said that, he, Biden, had an impenetrable thicket of words, but he can’t speak enough to cover up Obama’s obvious shot comings. That was on Cavuto interview. He’s soooooo quick and intelligent. Cavuto was holding back his laugh, he likes Mitt.

  69. 2thePoint Says:

You’re right Paulee; you can tell that Cavuto enjoys talking to Mitt. Cavuto REALLY liked Mitt’s answer regarding how many houses he has (someone commented earlier) that he has one less than John Kerry! BRILLIANT and hilarious!

  70. Chris Says:

    Money quote from Cavuto:

“Mitt Romney suggested Tuesday that criticisms he leveled at John McCain during the GOP primaries would not block him from becoming the Republican nominee for vice president, arguing that he never questioned his one-time rival’s readiness to be president the way the Democratic nominee for vice president questioned Barack Obama.”

  71. SED Says:

What I found interesting today was that at the press conference and several tv appearances; Mitt has been ready to tackle the house issue in a light/funny manner and explaining the differences they had during the primaries.

  72. Stefany Says:

Nate Gunderson - Isn’t there a fund raiser next week- somewhere in the midwest- where Mitt, McCain and the Huckster will be campaigning together? Before the rally, here’s what should happen behind closed doors: Maverick needs to tactfully tell Huckster the Primaries are OVER and that Huck needs to make good with his VP(Mitt)for party unity and the evangelical vote- i.e. shut the Huck up.

  73. Ron Says:

No Matter What-NoBama….I use to think that I would not vote for McCain if he did not pick Mitt for VP, but then I learned about the supreme court decision about the gun control in DC. By ONE vote the DC ban failed. This means that the next time one of these bans is tested in the SC, AFTER an Obama appointment, we all may loose the right to protect our families. We cannot afford to let Obama appoint his type to the court.

  74. Alex Says:

Just read Pawlenty is getting two spots to speak at the Republican Convention. First and Last night. If he was VP they wouldn’t be scheduling it that way.

  75. Alex Says:

This jpg of McCain and Romney as the ticket was supposedly found on McCain’s website. The file has since been removed but here is a copy of it. Looks great but I have no idea if a fake. Intrade has Romney over 70 now.

    http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/4746/romney1ccm8.jpg

  76. Carolina Says:

I am so ashamed of all the bigots in our party putting a full court press against Mitt now.

I will be happy when this is over, Mitt and his family do not deserve the ignorance aimed at them.

I hope McCain shows his Maverick side in a way that benefits conservatives by picking Romney to be his VP.

THen Mitt can go on to show all the haters and doubters just how extraordinary a VP he can be.

  77. Carolina Says:

    Alex Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 8:04 pm

I can’t imagine McCain would be in the background of such a photo.

  78. Brent Says:

What are the tax issues with loaning your campaign money and then not defaulting on the loan? $40-50 meg is a lot of money even for Mitt. I suppose it like the government picking up 1/3 of the 40 meg. Perhaps it knocked this years income down to zero. Perhaps he qualified for earned income credit(although I doubt he would have taken it) It would be interesting to know. In any case it was the right thing to do. Look at Hillary pleading poverty. I think they are both worth 50 meg or so.

  79. Brent Says:

That defaulting on the loan… sorry can not edit my post.

  80. Andrew Says:

Bigmo, re-read what I posted. I didn’t say that I was unable to post previously.

As for Romney: I am convinced that he’ll be the pick. His interviews on today’s news shows (to me, at least) that he already knows he’s the VP pick. Now, if he’s picked and McCain suddenly quits, I’ll have no problem voting for the Republican this year.

Wow, the Democrat convention is a dud, huh? I mean, perhaps I haven’t been paying enough attention in the past, but this is totally uninspiring.

  81. SED Says:

I believe I read somewhere that Mitt was turning his loan into a contribution to avoid any issues.

  82. Marybeth Says:

Brent, I’m a CPA. Romney cannot write off that loan - period. It would be considered a political contribution/donation to his campaign, which is not tax-deductible for him.

Yes, forgiving that loan was a good thing to do from a goodwill gesture perspective. However, that’s an awful LOT of goodwill!

Which was what sent my mind a-wondering . . . why? When he could have raised a good bit of that $ right after he bowed out with a 1-time special appeal to his contributors?

I know Mitt is unselfish that way - refusing his Olympic & governor’s salaries. But $40 million?

That’s why I’m thinking McCain may have chosen Mitt a long time ago . . . maybe around the time Mitt forgave that debt . . . and all of the Veep talk about other candidates has been just that. For the whole dramatic effect and to steal the spotlight away from the Obamessiah.

I’m not saying this is at all a bad thing on either McCain’s or Mitt’s part. I’m just saying it might be a clue.

    Or not.

    Oh, heck, who knows? LOL

  83. Marybeth Says:

OMG, Mitt is at the DNC convention!

  84. Tami Says:

HE IS??? Really? How do you know? I went to turn on FOX news but my daughter is DVR’ing something and I couldn’t change it :(

Is someone interviewing him? Please tell.. LOL

  85. Marybeth Says:

It was a fleeting camera pan shot. It was Mitt!

  86. Tami Says:

Oh cool. I’m sure it was because he was on Hannity & Colmes tonight and they’re located at the convention right now too.

  87. Sarah Says:

I loved listening to Mitt talking to Cavuto. I didn’t hear that line though, I left to come play on my computer. That is funny. I think that picture is a fake…No way in Heaven would they have a picture with McCain in the background. No a picture with them side by side is more like it. That did give me goose bumps (just slightly). Anyone else worried though that we will be disappointed again? I hope not.

Did anyone catch the facial expressions of Hillary Clinton in the convention, she rolled her eyes more then once during her speech. It was hilarious. I really don’t think she wants Obama to win…no matter what positive spin the Dem’s want to put on this.

I agree with the slogan the Dem’s are “not ready 08 a mile high, an inch deep”.

McCain/Romney 08(hopefully). We will know Friday. Any one else can’t wait…Three more days!

  88. SED Says:

The democrats don’t want to win this election. 2 nights now they have come out with absolutely no reason for an undecided to vote for Obama.

    None.

Last night the convention felt like The Tribute To Barack. Tonight Hillary Clinton tried to place herself as an icon to womens rights. The speakers before them all shout something about Bush/McCain policies, oil, and change. Tomorrow night we have another Clinton night that does not look like better than the last 2.

No wonder this campaign is starting to fall in the polls. Its going to be interesting to see how the RNC works out. Hopefully with a great speach from the VP Mitt Romney.

Yes, Mitt got press credentials and is at the Dem convention. Isn’t that great?!

He was so effective as an attack dog today - McCain will be such a fool if he picks someone else.

Tomorrow Mitt is going to Nevada to campaign for McCain, then to CA on Thursday to spend time with family. Pawlenty will be in Denver on Thursday and is scheduled to be back in MN on Friday.

The suspense is driving me nuts!

I like this open forum. I have been and out of meetings today, but it sure has been interesting to read them. I wonder what will happen on Friday or Thursday or whenever. I am so nervous! I am so prayerful!!! I hpe and pray JMc does the right thing. I am encouraged for some reason watching Mitt admit that he and McCain do NOT see eye to eye on everything. That is good!

  91. Karen Says:

oh, btw, yes, the DNC is just boring. But for me, it is also annnoying. So many of those people just get on my nerves so badly. Did you ever notice that Shrillary just hollars all the time??? She has got to be the loudest female on the planet. And Nancy Pelosi? Quiet, boring and plain wrong! Kucinich? Convulsive. Michelle Obama? I can’t even figure out what all she said! Now, mind you, I did not listen to all of any of these people’s talks, so I don’t know all. I just base my observations on the little I did heare. Ich! It is one of the reasons I am not a dem, I cannot stand hollaring. Well, that’s probably reason number 5,555…. there are so many other reasons… K

  92. Sarah Says:

Karen- I agree with you. I feel perfectly comfortable watching Mitt admit that he and McCain don’t agree on everything. It should be that way in the Republican party, that we allow open debate. That people can say what they what without forgetting the core principles of the Republican party which are limited government, stronger families, and a free market system is a good thing. If we can see that in the ticket we have the base and moderates.

On a tangent. I really dislike having the media say the Base of the party is evangelicals. That is just not true! I consider myself part of the base. I consider anyone who is truly a rounded conservative, not just either social or fiscal or foreign policy but all three are the base.

By the way check out http://www.evangelicalsformitt.com

  93. Karen Says:

Sarah, I love the evangelicalsformitt site! I especially love when they tell the other “Es” to quit speaking for them. I love that part.

I am sick to my stomach about the end of this week… pins and needles!

  94. Paulee & Mike Says:

We all need to take a deep breath. We stood strong for a wonderful cause. Mitt is ready for this challenge, we are ready for this challenge, you realize the work just begins once that VP Mitt is announced. We’ll all be on adrenalin surge, only for two more months. We can do it. We are Americans! Let go, let God. It’s his plan for Mitt and our country.

  95. Sarah Says:

    I agree!

  96. Sarah Says:

Okay I watched the first couple minutes of President Clinton’s speech and I have to give some props to him or his speech writer to come up with the line “The heat generated in the democratic primary probably contributed to Global Warming.” That was actually very memorable and kind of in a way making fun of the hoopla (of course this is just me) that the Dems are making about Global Warming.
