Mitt Romney Lands in Denver, No News on VP Pick

Every time I log on to the computer, somewhere in the back of my mind is the VP selection. So far, nothing today.

On another topic, what did you think of Sen. Kennedy’s speech last night? I thought he did a fine job, especially considering his health challenges. It was good to see pictures of Teddy and JFK and RFK when they were young. The film of him piloting his sailboat and quizzing his grandkids on the correct terminology of the different sails was really touching.

Although we are on different planets politically, it was good to remember the human aspects of a family a lot of us grew up with and to see the obvious affection that Ted has for those kids.

DENVER - Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney descended on Denver today but said he has no news on if he’ll be John McCain’s vice presidential pick.

“We’re just here to talk about the issues,” Romney told the Herald, adding he’s heard nothing on the VP front.

Speculation has been rampant in recent days that Romney will be McCain’s choice for running mate. McCain is expected to make his announcement Thursday.

Romney also praised Sen. Edward M. Kennedy calling him “a class act” for making a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention last night.

“I was very moved by Sen. Kennedy and his effort to come here. It was a powerful thing to do,” Romney said.

I enjoyed Kennedy’s speech last night and was happy for him and his family that he was able to be there. I hope and pray that his health improves.

I was also touched by Maria Shriver in the audience who couldn’t hold back the tears when he was speaking… isn’t she his niece?

Unfortunatedly Mary Joe Koepecknee could not be there to cheer him on.

    Ooo snap, son!

I thought McCain would announce his VP choice during the convention but then I heard that is politically incorrect. Does political correctness apply in this circumstance? McCain is suppose to announce on Friday. I still do not feel inclined to vote for him in Nov. if he does not select Romney for VP. Karl Rove says everyone he talks to want Romney. Hopefully, McCain will pick Romney and unite our party. I think he will get a big jump in the polls.

Biden has not given Obama a bump in the polls. Romney will. I hope McCain will allow conservatives a voice in this election.

What do you mean, no news? Of course there’s news! Romney closed on Intrade today at 66! Paw paw at 20. (second place). Then, apparently on Niel C’s show this quote:

“Mitt Romney suggested Tuesday that criticisms he leveled at John McCain during the GOP primaries would not block him from becoming the Republican nominee for vice president, arguing that he never questioned his one-time rival’s readiness to be president the way the Democratic nominee for vice president questioned Barack Obama.”

    No news? Pshhhttsssss

  6. Mit 10 Says:

I believe that Romney used contrast ads to show the difference between him and McCain. I remember that his ads always complimented McCain. Romney withdrew after Super Tuesday because the only way Romney could have won was to go really negative on McCain. Romney said he could not do that and ended his quest for the presidency. I don’t believe McCain promised him any thing to get out of the race. Romney knew he could not fight DIRTY and he did it for the good of the party.

Here’s a good read on Mitt’s work yesterday: “Mitt Romney as Attack Dog” http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/26/AR2008082603046.html

He’s amazing. Hope he gets some rest before his big day this week…

  9. Mit 10 Says:

I am sure MR enemies will use his words against him and call him a FLIP FLOPPER for joining McCain but end the end I think supporters recognize that this is all part of the process.

He will be the most effective VP McCain could pick. I believe that this year more than ever the VP candidate matters. I think Obama has made a fatal error by selecting Biden. McCain can seal the deal by selecting Romney or select another candidate and level the playing field.

Thanks EVELIO! That was great. What do you think? I have often wondered about the “humble act” thing. I think he is a humble man and I believe that at that point he was telling the truth. I just have not heard him actually deny it here of late. I keep hearing other things, excuses, clever words and subject changes, but no actual out and out denying.

Thanks again, that was more fun than I thought it was going to be when I saw the tagline. K
