Official Says Clinton To Release Delegates to Obama Wednesday
Under the category of “who woulda thunk it?” an unnamed Democratic Party official says Hillary will release her delegates to Obama. Man, this is a big-time disappointment. I was so looking forward to a divisive, debilitating floor fight. I wonder what Hill got in return? The donor list?

DENVER — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, hoping to unite the Democratic Party and cement her future in it, will gather her hard-won primary delegates Wednesday at a reception where she is expected to formally release them to Barack Obama.
Clinton has invited her pledged delegates to a reception at the Colorado Convention Center, not far from the main Democratic National Convention arena.
The high-profile gathering of political regulars who once fought against Obama serves a dual purpose for Clinton: Show fellow Democrats that she can be a team player, and display her still-formidable political strengths for the future. Many of her supporters want her to run for president again.
A Democratic official told The Associated Press Sunday, a day before the convention begins, that she is expected to release her delegates at the Wednesday event. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss details publicly.

Hmmm…just read at townhall.com that Pawlenty is scheduled to speak at the Council for National Policy meeting in Minneapolis at noon on Friday - the same day McCain is supposedly announcing his VP pick in Ohio. Pawlenty’s speech had been cancelled at one point, but is now back on the schedule.

The anti-Mormon campaign begins anew!!!!!
August 25th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Like Charlie Brown says “UG!” We are never ever going to get away from the anti-Mormon campaign aren’t we? Look the Democrats are scared of Romney. Thats the precise reason we need him.

I think McCain has a plan to turn the anti-Mormon crap on it’s head. Leadership (by choosing him)… followed by Shame - i.e. shaming the bigots - and more importantly the bigot mongering press. Remember, Mac and Mitt are both appearing with Huck a day or two after the choice.
August 25th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
And lets hope and pray that choice is Mitt. I’m hearing about a wesite paid for my McCain touting Palin. Palin? I want someone who can assume the presidency, not put on makeup. They can’t be serious, can they?

But she eats mooseburgers and played basketball and established a 75% windfall profits tax on oil companies drilling in Alaska! Wait…you mean that raised the price of oil? Oops…

bigmo. You forgot the biggest asset. She’s ‘pretty’ and she’s ‘evangalical’. So, she’s got all the requirements to be a president. Not.

Sarah Palin on the issues
August 25th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Looking at that link I wonder why people are so gung ho about her when so little is known about her policies other than Drilling, Abortion and Gun Control.

The only reason to me is that Hillary’s disappointed women would have a place to go, because Obama cast her aside. McCain would have the first woman in VP position. Could be his long shot to win. I think as always, it should be Mitt. Sarah Palin, President?????????? Think not, say you?
August 25th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Picking Palin because she is a woman is not going to obtain many heretofore uncaptured votes for John McCain. Romney < Pawlenty < Jindahl < Palin. That’s the hierarchy of smart picks.
August 25th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Because she’s not ‘mitt’.
August 25th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Because she’s not ‘mitt’. It seems that she’s the ‘right’ religion, though! A young mother of 5 kids (one with a severe disability) should not be running for vice president. What if she has to become president? On one tread, someone said I should not be forcing my religious views of roles of women onto the rest of the world. My answer was that if wanting mothers to be with their young children, is only LDS values, andthat faith is the only one who holds mothers in high regard, and who should be raising the next generation, then were in more trouble than I thought. I have no idea why she’s suddenly being pushed. Other than she’s the anti-mitt.

The first female VP candidate was Geraldine Ferraro, who was creamed alongside Walter Mondale by Reagan, so its too late for the first. I suppose if they won she could be the first to actually hold the position, but that’s a big if. I would feel weird about a woman who runs for Vice President of the U.S. with a four month old baby, special needs notwithstanding. Still, I like what I know of her, except of course for the windfall profits tax. I’d prefer Meg Whitman but I’m hoping she gets the governorship of my state of CA.
I just fail to see the problem with choosing Mitt. The too many houses thing is silly. Those attacks haven’t seemed to effect McCain’s numbers, why would they effect it for the VP. Bush is wealthy, as is Cheney, as was John Kerry and John Edwards, etc. Barrack Obama and Joe Biden are pretty rich themselves, although more of their money is from the government and shady business deals with guys like Tony Rezko.

Fox News is reporting that McCain may announce his VP before Friday - possibly on Thursday.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I hope he makes a wise decision JA.

Where is Mitt Romney scheduled to be on Thursday? In Denver? What about John McCain? McCain is on tonight’s edition of the Tonight Show, if you want some more tea leaves to read…
August 26th, 2008 at 5:36 am
Steven, I think Mitt is only scheduled to be in Denver today (Tuesday), but I’m not 100% sure. John McCain’s campaign calendar doesn’t have anything listed for Thursday.

Bigmo, Oh, I hope so, too - but I’m bracing myself for a letdown…
