U.S. Secret Service On Way to Biden’s House!

August 22nd, 2008 Posted in Barack Obama, Delaware, Veepstakes

I feel like I am working the “graveyard shift” in a newsroom, fueled by cigarettes and coffee. The news stories are coming in so fast and the speculation is so rampant. We’ll all need a vacation after the Veepstakes and the Conventions are over! Whew.

U.S. Secret Service on Way to Biden’s House; Kaine and Bayh Told Nope on Veep

August 22, 2008 10:50 PM

The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.

Sources also tell ABC News that two others said to be finalists for the position of Obama’s running mate — Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine — have been told they have not been selected to be Obama’s running mate.

I just read t his on race42008 as well. The comments are quite interesting. One guy said Romney is no match for Biden and someone countered quite well that Romney would be more than a match for O’Biden. It looks like he is the choice, but people over there are speculating that perhaps it is another headfake so he can talk to Hillary. Is that silly, or is it just me???

  2. Steve Andrew Says:

    It’s Biden.

  3. Chris Says:

Awesome. Easy takedown in novemember. We can start with the really bad hairplugs and work our way down to the Neil Kinnock rip offs. And as someone else said, he’s run for president, what? 27 times? And faied?

Biden is low hanging fruit. Mitt (if he’s picked) will pluck im off then make pie out of what’s left. While smiling all the while!

  4. bigmo Says:

Biden is lame by Republican standards but he’s sharp and well informed for a Democrat. He certainly knows more about the issues than Obama. He will be a lot tougher than the other choices being bandied about lately, but Mitt could still take him pretty easily in the VP debate.

  5. Karen Says:

Well, it seems QUITE definite that Biden IS IT. It is being reported by Foxnews right now live. They said the text messages should start in a few hours….

  6. bigmo Says:

I’m just glad its not Hillary, that would have reunited the Dems in a big way.

  7. Karen Says:

Personally, I am glad he did not placate the party with a woman. I have nothing against women, I am one. I love me. I have nothing against women in politics when they play fair and don’t try so hard to compete with all the men. I really enjoy Kay Baily Hutchinson. I enjoy most of the republican women. I just cannot abide some of the hard, coarse dem ones. I could name names, but you all probably know which ones I speak about. Anyway, I am glad it is who it is, and I don’t enjoy him. I don’t think I would be happy to have him over for dinner….

  8. Mit 10 Says:

“I love me” I am happy to hear that Karen. Well I called it wrong about Hillary but I think Obama has made a serious error in our favor. Biden may be a tough debater and much easier for someone like Romney to attack.

Talk about being late……Obama campaign finally sends famous E-Mail . ( I signed up to spy )… LOL

    Evelio –

I have some important news that I want to make official.

I’ve chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.

Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois — the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.

I’m excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can’t do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.

Please let Joe know that you’re glad he’s part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we’ll make sure he gets it:

    Thanks for your support,

    Barack

P.S. — Make sure to turn on your TV at 2:00 p.m.

Some are spouting Portman, having the ‘gravatas’ to take on joey from the east side. The democrates think they’ve got a junk yard dog. When all they have is a guy with hair plugs.

Will the new Obama/Biden theme song be:

    You’re so Vain…
    or
Obama, Oooobama, Hey hey hey, good Bi(den)?

  12. bigmo Says:

Thanks for sharing the email Evelio. I never thought of signing up for that reason.

  13. David D Says:

Don’t take Biden lighly. Mitt will have his hands full in the debate. Mitt is better but Biden is no pushover.

  14. Marybeth Says:

No, Biden is no pushover, David D . . . but Biden is much more gaffe-prone than Mitt, plus he comes off as VERY smarmy.
