What’s the latest on Cantor? He’s still out there, and was vetted. Have not heard squato bout him lately. They could have kept him under the radar… I hope not.
August 21st, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Just read in the Wall Street Journal that Eric Cantor will be at the “Mile High and Inch Deep” event in Denver during the Dem. Convention.
August 21st, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Crud. Means he’s still in the running, and may have been kept under the radar.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Better Cantor than Huck or Ridge, but lets hope for the best.

I can’t help but think this is just another false alarm. It’s not official so I’m trying not to get my hopes up about it. Lots of talk over at Hot Air… mostly positive about Romney being VP!
Could it be?!?!

“Hints Of Major McCain Rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan On Or About 8/31″
Hmmm…another clue that maybe it’s Mitt?
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:26 am
From Politico:
“Politico has learned that McCain will visit suburban St. Louis for a major rally with Romney and his still-bitter primary nemesis Mike Huckabee on Sunday, August 31st, the day before the start of the GOP convention.
Top Missouri Republicans yesterday received the invitation for a rally featuring McCain and his two top primary challengers. They’ll be joined by country star John Rich at a minor league baseball stadium in O’Fallon, Mo, about 35 miles west of St. Louis.”
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:37 am
Fox is reporting that Mark Halperin says 2 sources have told him that McCain has settled on Romney! Halperin also says Obama has decided on Biden. McCain Ops say it’s not official and McCain(not Halperin?) will make the announcement. Very few details in Mark Halperin’s blog. google ‘mark halperin’ to link to his blog.
August 22nd, 2008 at 9:02 am
Hopefully by then, Romney will be named Mac’s running mate. And the JOINT appearance will help the radical E-s get a clue and actually join in the party? I hope Mac has handed Hucks head to him on a golden platter (with silver edging)regarding the ‘11th commandment’. I’m hoping this is a unity move. I’m all for unity, But the talibanish radical e-s need to be reminded that it’s a two way street, not just their one way street.

Well I was hoping to wake up and find OFFICIAL word that Mitt is VP this morning but so far, I don’t see anything official. Sure is a lot of talk about Mitt though… it’s gotta be him, doesn’t it? *crosses fingers and toes and prays real hard*

August 22nd, 2008 at 12:05 pm
M&M all the way. I know I am going a limb here but I can’t resist sharing the following. Romney helped keep the party together despite Huck’s attempts to divide it. M&M will be a strong exciting ticket and McCain could get a major boost for “choosing Romney” and a much deserved one I might add.
If Obama chose Biden over Hillary I think it shows his inability to bring his party together and his arrogance at thinking he can pull this off on his own. Once again showing his lack of leadership and experience.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Everyone i know says the only way Mccain will win is with Romney. I so hope they are right. I heard on Aug. 31 in Grand Rapid, Michigan, a big ralley is plained, LAURA said thst today? Seems on another post they said a different place. Anyone know for sure?
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Drudge reporting Obama NEVER even considered Hillary!!! That could lead to a VERY interesting night in Denver next Monday. ‘Hell hath no fury as a woman(women)scorned!’ Let the MAYHEM begin! Can’t wait.
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:41 pm
McCain is conducting his VP process the war a good army deceives and confuses the enemy as to the when and where of the invasion. And in the process, Team McCain has highlighted future RNC stars, including the Govs of LA and AL. Then again, maybe that’s giving McCain too much credit, and the last few weeks are simply what happens when the Presidency collides with New Media and the Internet? In any case, Obama now looks like a….really lame and incompetent (I prefer to keep the language gentle…)
Hey, what happened to the chat utility that used to be associated with this site?!
I don’t think Hillary really needs to be vetted in the conventional sense. She’s been unofficially vetted since 1992, and further vetted during the primaries.
I don’t own a television, and don’t have cable; I’m tempted to acquire both just for the Conventions. Denver is going to be a complete ZOO, with cable tv channels and YouTube videos spurring the fringe on to show their colors. It will scare a good number of voters away from Obama.
Have you seen the DNC podium. I’m sorry, but it just screams LOSER LEFTIST.
August 22nd, 2008 at 3:31 pm
SteveinBrooklyn - You are so right about the Dem. podium. My first thought was that it looks better suited for the Grammys than a political convention!
August 22nd, 2008 at 3:41 pm
JA, what’s so bizarre, and beyond belief is that they don’t get it, despite years, and years of Presidential election failures. Dennis Prager often says that the left live in a parallel universe…oy.

Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia has confirmed he’s been told he’s not the pick.
Wonder if he found out via text message?
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Don’t you think you would kind of figure it out for yourself if no one ever talks to you? I am sure he would have gotten the message. so weird
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Karen, I was trying to be clever by joking about the text message thing *wink*
Guess it wasn’t so funny! lol
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Yes it was, it was great. I chuckled at the idea that he would get a cold democratic text saying “sorry, not interested”, or “decision made, not you” or, “don’t get your hopes up, no matter what tv is saying to you”… cold!
I was trying to joke too about how dense that set can be…
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Okay, I’m definitely dense! Sorry!
I think Biden’s the pick, what about you?
Mitt would destroy this pompous windbag in a debate.
August 22nd, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Pompous windbag! That is great~! I started not liking him long ago. He was so nasty about President Bush and so arrogant all of the time!!! How can one head hold all that arrogance!??? He was so mean, every time he got up to talk about anything, no matter how unrelated it was, he would talk about President Bush and used words and phrases like “failed administration”, or “a President who just doesn’t get it” or “incompetent”, “foolish”. In short, he is VERY demeaning and O may get what he pays for in that one! but I think Mitt could clean his clock and Huck would fall apart… better do the right and smart thing JMc
What do you think?
August 23rd, 2008 at 4:30 am
Biden is a big mouth. He’s very opinionated, knows McCain well. Who knows how nasty this will all get. My fear right now is that it is neither Romney or Huck, he sneaks Eric Cantor in because of all the bad blood between Mitt and Huck, not wanting to chose fearing hurting the other person who he can’t chose. I have felt this all along, I soooooo hope I’m wrong and It’s Our Mitt. Please, please.
August 27th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Mitt Romney is here in Henderson Nevada (a state he won in the presidential caucus) and held a fund rasier earlier today to benefit McCain and the Republican party. He seems to have a lot of time on his hands, he is rich and doesn’t need the money. He volunteered his time to fix the broken Winter Olympics in Utah 2002 without taking a salary. He was even able to give Utah back $56 million over and above what they loaned to the Olympic committee to keep the games on track. Huckabee is a religious biggot and has done nothing to help the party stay unified. Liberman is pro-choice and not even a Republican….bad choice.
Romney has also came close to beating out Ted Kennedy for the senate in 1994…plus he was govenor for a spell this can only help McCain in a State full of liberals.
He will help in Michigan, Colorado, Wyoming, new Jersey, Florida to name a few.
McCain and Mitt….the way to go.
