Nancy Pelosi Flips On Offshore Drilling, Peasants With Pitchforks Prevail!
Nancy Pelosi, who symbolizes much of what is wrong with the Democratic Party, has caved on her draconian opposition to offshore drilling, which in recent weeks she called a “hoax”. The hoax has morphed into reality as Ms. Pelosi evidently sat down at her desk and started counting votes (something she has not always done in the past) and finally realized that her position was a loser for her and her Party. Welcome back to reality, Madam Speaker.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrats’ stance against offshore drilling has shifted more, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi signaling on Saturday her willingness to consider opening up more coastal areas to oil and gas exploration.
In her party’s weekly radio address, Pelosi said opening portions of the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling would be a part of energy legislation that House Democrats intend to put forward in the coming weeks to address oil dependence and high gasoline prices.
Lawmakers will be able to “consider opening portions of the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling, with appropriate safeguards, and without taxpayer subsidies to Big Oil,” said Pelosi, D-Calif.
Just weeks ago Pelosi seemed resolved to block any votes to allow offshore drilling, in part because Californians have opposed drilling off their coasts since an oil spill off Santa Barbara in 1969. New oil drilling is only allowed now in federal waters in the western Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska.

Well, well, well—an appropriate response to her partisan self. Guess those of us who called and emailed her office and our congressmen finally made an impression on perhaps the most ineffective and partisan leader of the House we have ever known. She is definitely giving a bad name to Democrats and an even worse one to women.

I completely agree with you Renna! She is an awful leader and she gives a bad name to women in politics. I am afraid people look at women like her and a couple of others in positions of leadership in politics and get a very bad taste. Some of them are wonderful of course and there are those I really like. She and a couple of others act like they are trying to “prove they are as good and powerful as any man” and it just makes them look stupid and power greedy. If they would just relax and be likable, make good decisions and choices, I think they would do much better…

Aaaah, dont’cha just get beating-your-head-weary of these morons playing politics with issues so vital to the safety and well-being of Americans?! NOW Miss Priss Pelosi will CONSIDER drilling in the outer continental shelf but she wouldn’t think of it A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO when REPUBLICANS pressed for a vote on this issue before the nincompoops went on vacation. Pelosi herself, raised her fake finger-nailed, pefectly manicured, liberal hand to the chamber light switch and TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF as Repubs were trying to get Democrats to take ACTION.
As much as liberals wail and scream over the topic of TORTURE, they are torturing American citizens everyday by doing nothing about our absolute dependency on foreign suppliers of oil. The security of the United States of America is in great peril and Americans face the snarling wolf of sky-high energy costs every single day. Liberals just smile and continue to crank the thumbscrews of energy politics on our hardworking, tax-paying hands.
Sun rays are not going to power the U.S.S. Nimitz. Wind power will not lift our F-14s and stealth bombers into the air. We must not allow the rising cry for an American energy revolution to get smothered by calculating, corrupt politicians.
