McCain Will Beat Obama in Mass., I’ll Beat Kerry, Beatty Says

Jeff Beatty has come out swinging in an interview with the POLITICKERMA.COM. It seems the former Delta Force veteran is less than intimidated by “The One”.

Responding to a recent poll showing presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s lead over presumptive GOP nominee John McCain in Massachusetts narrowing, Jeff Beatty (R), the Republican challenging U.S. Sen. John Kerry, predicted victory in both his race and for McCain in Massachusetts.

A 7News/Suffolk University poll released Monday showed Obama (Ill.) with a nine-point lead over McCain (Ariz.) - 47 percent to 38 percent. The last 7News/Suffolk University poll, released a month and a half ago, showed Obama leading McCain by 23 points, 53 percent to 30 percent.

“People see him for what he is,” Beatty told PolitickerMA.com referring to Obama. “Obama is shallow. He’s an empty suit. He doesn’t have the relevant experience to work the country out of its problems and John McCain does. I’ve been advocating an action policy to solve these problems and that’s resonating with voters. That’s why I’ll say McCain is going to carry Massachusetts and I’m going to beat John Kerry.”

The Beatty camp contends that McCain is gaining ground in Massachusetts because Bay State voters are not comfortable voting for Obama. Obama’s recent shifts in position on energy policy, they say, have raised doubts about where Obama stands. At the same time, they say, McCain’s brand remains strong among unenrolled voters in Massachusetts.

Beatty said Massachusetts voters may be reluctant to support a candidate about whom they know little after Gov. Deval Patrick’s (D-Milton) missteps after he first took office.

“It’s a function of knowing your voters,” Beatty said, “being out there and listening to them. They’ve seen this movie before; it was John Kerry and Deval Patrick the first time it came out. They don’t’ want to see the John Kerry and Barack Obama version of the movie.”

This isn’t the first time Beatty has predicted McCain would win Massachusetts. In an interview with PolitickerMA.com on July 22, Beatty said if McCain picked former Gov. Mitt Romney (R) to be his vice presidential candidate, he would carry Massachusetts.

Ultimately, Beatty said he is seeing the momentum turning in the GOP’s favor.
“I believe that John McCain will win the 12 electoral votes of the commonwealth of Massachusetts,” he said. “What you saw in the poll yesterday, that’s a tremendous swing.”

Wow. If that poll confirms itself in the next sampling…wow.

DNC Site Aims to Link Possible McCain Veep Picks to Cheney
August 5, 2008 by Walter Alarkon

    The Hill’s Michael O’Brien reports:
A new site launched by the Democratic National Committee Tuesday profiles each of seven potential running mates for John McCain as “The Next Cheney.”

The website hits the seven candidates — Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R), Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and FedEx CEO Fred Smith — on a variety of issues, from questionable ethics to close ties to the Bush administration.

The website quotes McCain as praising Dick Cheney as a vice presidential pick, and asks, “Who will be John McCain’s second choice?”

He’s quite delusional if he or any one truly believes that, if they do, I got some prime swamp land to sell ya.

Chris Cannon in Utah’s 3rd district had the endorsements of President Bush and both of the state’s Senators. He had a six term head start on Chaffetz, outspent him 7 to 1 and had a paid campaign staff.

Chaffetz has a relatively low name recognition and 100% volunteer staff. Chaffetz beat Cannon 60% to 40% in the primary election. No delusions there, pal.

  5. Chris Says:

Chaffets did the work. He beat Cannon. (a good man, but had gotten lazy in Congress). This should show everyone that they either need to do the work we hired them for, or they get tossed out. If utah can do it to Cannon, the country can do it to the rest of them. Even Nancy P. has a GOP challenger. If I still lived in her district, I’d consider running against her on a drill here platform.

  6. Chris Says:

What possibly could they have on Romney? That he actually had a job and made the cash the old fashioned way?

  7. Chris Says:

Oh, the flip flop thing - again. Geeze. They need to look in the mirror! Better yet, look at their candidate. He’s doing more flips and flops than an olympic diver on drugs. And, he’s flipped and flopped on bigger issues than Romney! At least Romney only went one way. We have no idea where Obammessiah is at any given moment on any given issue!
