Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Friday he would be willing to support limited additional offshore oil drilling if that’s what it takes to enact a comprehensive policy to foster fuel-efficient autos and develop alternate energy sources.

I hear that today, President Bush “acknowledged” that it would take “years” for new oil fields to be developed if Congress lifted its ban on offshore drilling. This is simply wrong and Obama appears to be “acknowledging” it too.
Excuse me, but I AM SICK AND TIRE OF EXPERTS LYING TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT THIS ISSUE! Okay, I’m from Texas and we Texans know a little about oil and Armadillos. Right?
Well recall that, in May of 1961, President Kennedy challenged us to put a man on the MOON by the end of the decade. We Americans met that challange by putting Armstrong on the moon in 1969–only eight years later.
NOW, TODAY WITH MUCH GREATER TECHNOLOGY that we had in the 1960s, we are told that we cannot get oil out of the ground in less than 10 years–on our own planet–within 50 miles of the shoreline! Absurd!
I KNOW that if there were the political will, we could have oil fields leased; wells drilled; and crude refined within TWO years (I actually believe less, but am playing it safe). We simply need the same kind of commitment that put Armstrong on the moon to assist us in getting oil from offshore and the Artic.

I agree with you. I am tired of the “experts tell us” that is ruining this country. Why can we just use our technology that has advanced so much to drill sensibly without destroying the enviorment. I want to yell from the rooftop one simple line “OIL COMPANIES, YES THATS RIGHT, OIL COMPANIES ARE THE ONLY COMPANIES LOOKING INTO ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF ENERGY!” Its true, the biggest researcher’s of alternative energy are big oil. I mean has anyone seen the new ExxonMoble commercials. It seems to me either they are the biggest liars in the world or they are really making the effort to tell us that they know they need to produce efficiently with little or no damage to the enviorment and that they WANT to produce more with little or no damage to the enviorment.

Barack Obama is just trying to get votes. I don’t believe this. I don’t believe he truly will ever change is position. If he wins I can just hear his reasoning for implementing the executive ban on drilling. It will go something like this “Uh…I think..uh…that we need to…uh ban off shore drilling because…uh the polar bears are endangered yeah thats it…uh..that polar bears are endangered.” Oh something to that effect but you get the point right?

Between the stammering and the uoh’s, meaning you know, I’m not surprised he hasen’t promised his first unborn male child up for whatever. Talk about flip-flops, he’s flying by the seat of his pants. He’s way too cocky for me. He is not wise by years, he’s blinded by youth and self. He will not bring us out of this mess with his statagies. It will put our country in much worse shape. We know we need to drill here! We need every source of independance that is out here. Wake up AMERICA! WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND ACTION, NOW!!!!!!

Captain Teleprompter Obama has solved America’s energy crisis! Now, hold onto your over-alls, America, this is BIG (as in “I’m Al Gore and I invented the internet…”):

Look for looong lines at the AIR pumps now! There’s gonna be a run on tire gauges!
Reminds me of the 70’s energy crisis when oil shortages were common and home heating fuel was too high. Jimmy Carter’s solution was to… PUT ON A SWEATER! Bwa ha ha!
