Alaska’s Palin Faces Probe

August 1st, 2008 Posted in Mitt Romney

The Wall Street Journal by Jim Carlton

Now, one of the bright new stars in the Republican Party has suddenly become tarnished. The state legislature this week voted to hire an independent investigator to see whether Ms. Palin abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.

The Veeper List

1. Mitt Romney

2. Tim Pawlenty

3. Sarah Palin

All this talk about Sarah Palin as VP is pretty ridiculous. We need someone who could step in as President at a moment’s notice, and she certainly doesn’t fit the bill. A large portion of her fan base seems to be made up of males who like her because of her looks. Sorry, guys, but this is a presidential election, not a beauty contest.

  2. Paulee & Mike Says:

I agree, what credentials does she have to be President? Give me a break. This is so foolish, she has not been vetted and now this. Hello!

  3. KKSM Says:

NOt only does she not have credentials, I can’t even understand why they continue to discuss her. Didn’t she say a few weeks ago that it was not interesting to her because of her special needs baby as well as the other 4??? If anyone likes her or even cares about her at all, they would leave her alone.

On a side note, if you do NOT want to be investigated, don’t do no nos… it’s a rule! If you don’t want to answer for illegalities, don’t do them….

I can’t figure out why she is even being discussed! KKSM

  4. Aaron Says:

Not only that, but to suggest the McCain camp has seriously considered her, other than for the sake of the process and to throw people off. I mean come on, it’s a no brainer. A young pretty, soft skinned women, next to the old skinned cancer McCain. This one never made any sense and the McCain camp is not as dum as some of the pundits. AARON

  5. JA Says:

Yesterday Gov. Palin was interviewed by Larry Kudlow on CNBC. Here is how she responded to a question about being named as a VP candidate:

“But as for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does everyday? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

I thought she sounded pretty flippant, maybe even a little snotty…I guess I’m just used to Mitt’s usual gracious answer of “Any Republican would be honored to be VP.”

  6. Aaron Says:

JA, I could’nt agree more. I’ve been hearing her give wierd answers on the question. It sounds like theres a part of her that really wants the job. I got news, she’s not getting it. Imagine Romney giving that exact same answer, it really would come off bad. AARON

  7. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Ok, I’ll bite. I don’t even think she’s that cute. I do wish her well, however, as Governor.

  8. Aaron Says:

Maybe she’s not that cute, but next to McCain? It’s all about the perception of the massses. The cuter she is, the worse her chances are for VP. She’s not getting it either way. I would be stunned, it’s allmost welcoming focus on MCCains age.

  9. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

You know, Aaron, I thought I was making the lightest, silliest of comments, and yet your response raised a point I never even thought of: that a minimally seasoned VP pick would not only seem to be a weakness onto itself, but exaggerate McCain’s senior status. WELL, another plus for Mitt Romney, who is neither too young, nor too old.

  10. Chris Says:

Were back to the ‘She’s a CHRISTIAN’! I’ve heard it a thousand times. Never mind her actual qualifications. The Evangalicas love her because she’s one of them. Huck in drag. (although I do like her, I just hink she’s too wet behind the ears. AND the country has some serious issues ahead. This is not time to vote on beauty, but to vote for BRAINS.)

  11. Paulee & Mike Says:

I’m with you Chris, we need brains and ethics!!!!!! Personally, I THINK President Bush should have called back Congress to start the process for the people in this country’s energy crisis. Who are they to take a vacation at this critical time?????? What are they thinking? You can tell money’s not an issue for them, what about their jobs?????? Sorry, to change the subject, but we are not happy! What would Romney do? I’ll bet take care of business before a vacation!!!!!

  12. KKSM Says:

Well, it is set up in such a way that he couldn’t call them back until Monday. I was listening to Newt yesterday. He seemed pretty confident that they would be called back too…

How about Pelosi??? Man, she is a piece of work if you ask me. Talk about 1) someone who should never have any any power at all because the exercise unrighteous dominion and 2) a completely deouble minded woman and 3) why does she think the planet needs to be saved by her?

    knock knock…. umph… no one’s home

  13. Sarah Says:

Holy Cow…This is ridiculous! Who is saying she is a top choice for VP and who is saying she is only liked by the Majority of Males? I don’t know if that is true or not and I am pretty certain its that the Legislators in Alaska are jealous of her high opinion rating. I don’t know which party controls that legislator in Alaska or who brought charges but the top three opinions on this blog startled me. Are you guys Alaskans? I don’t think you are. I think that if she hadn’t have gotten some sort of controversy I would be worried about that.

Honestly If she is innocent of this the investigation will clear her. If she is guilty then she should rightly face charges. This doesn’t have anything to do with the VEEP. I don’t know. The Wall street Journal is pretty reliable but this is an investigation in progress and she has made it rightly clear that she doesn’t want the job.

  14. LeEric Says:

Life’s ironies, She’s not qualified to be VP. But! She’s more qualified then Obama!

    I’m an Alaskan.

  15. StevenInBrooklyn Says:

Eric Cantor is, supposedly being vetted for VP. What do you folks make of the fact that (1) this is being; (2) being done now; (3) and has been leaked to the press?

  16. Aaron Says:

Cantor does not stand a chance, for so many reasons. He’s to young and inexperienced. No one knows him. He cant help in any other states, if even Virginia. I could be wrong about that, but a congressman creating extra excitement. Did’nt Romney do good there? Anyways, this is hocus pocus.

  17. Karen Says:

Look at this interesting reading. Mitt is mentioned close to the bottom, not overly favorably, but could have been worse.

    “It’s the Christians Stupid!!”
