America needs Romney now, if it is as VP or as the voice of the minority should Obama win. 2012 or 2016 is a long way off. We should all be doing everythig possible to help McCain win. If Romney is the VP great, if he is not, we should not wish Obama on America.

  2. Jerald Says:

I agree 100% with this article. It seems the most likely of all the scenarios.

The only problem is, we need Romney now. Why do we have to suffer with an Obama mess before we can get someone like Romney?

If I had more faith that McCain would be a great president and really use Romney’s talents well, I would be more excited about an M&M ticket, but I have a feeling that a post-election McCain will not be enthusiastic about turning Mitt loose on America’s problems. Having your hands tied is not Romney’s MO.

  3. Trooperdad Says:

I tend to agree with this article. I see Gov. Romney not so much as trying to get the VP nod, but keeping his promises made during his campaign to support Republican leaders who supported him and getting his voice heard in conservative politics. As he said himself, if called to be VP, any American (including himself) would be honored to serve.

However, if not, I’m sure he’s very happy keeping his foot in national politics rallying conservatism, listening to the American public, and readying himself for another charge for the top job.

  4. Marybeth Says:

I think this is Mitt’s best shot at eventually becoming President for a few reasons:

    1. It definitely keeps him the public eye . . .
    2. He has a wonderful opportunity to show the anti-Mormon types that they have nothing to fear from his religious beliefs on a national scale
    3. He becomes the automatic favorite Republican presidential candidate in 2012 most likely

I say, “Mitt, if it’s offered, run with it! The country needs you.”

  5. Annette Says:

It seems to be hard for most people, especially politicians, to believe that Romney really does want to help the country. He isn’t in this just for Romney - he is in this for America. He knows McCain and whoever he chooses would be better for American than the liberal Democrats.
I personally don’t think he cares if he gets the VP nod or not. He will accept it if given but he is not seeking it.

  6. bigmo Says:

I would agree with this article, with the caveat that if he DOESN’T get the VP nod, whoever does get it will have a big leg up on him in the next election cycle should they choose to run for President. John Edwards didn’t lose because he was a former failed VP candidate, he lost because he was running against Coronated Clinton and the Obamessiah. Basically, the mainstream media chose the candidates this year.

  7. Deg Says:

I like this comment they left on the original page.

“Romney is VP, McCain pulls a Tim Russert, and Romney becomes the country’s saving grace.”

  8. Steve Andrew Says:

This guy doesn’t understand or know what he’s saying. A good read nonetheless.

  9. Renna Says:

    I agree with Annette:

Mitt Romney is in this because he KNOWS he can help the country. As VP he will be far ahead of the game in 2012 and could possibly have to step into the Presidency before then. In fact, it is a GOOD possibility - remember John McCain is 72 years old and has history of Melanoma. Melanoma does not go away - it may lay low for awhile but always seems to resurface with a vengance. Do not listen to the doctors - they have no way of knowing.

    We need Mitt Romney NOW.

NO MITT, NO MONEY, NO MCCAIN!!!

  10. Paulee & Mike Says:

Isn’t it strange that the 5 states McCain needs are mostly ones that Mitt can really help him secure? Do you suppose this is meant to be? Mitt was the answer all along. It sets him up for 2012 esp. if all goes well for him and considering McCain’s health. I guess I just cannot even consider Obama, he is out of the question. This world is not to be trusted. We cannot let up for a minute, look at the plot to kill President Bush in January. Obama wants a Love Fest! The terrorist will be back on our soil. I know Mitt follows the law of the land and would be a wonderful steward for Mccain and the White House. He loves this country!

Why are people so ignorant ans foolish? I look at some (actually I have read nearly every one) of the comments over on the Humanevents board and I get sick. So much hate and arrogance. So much misinformation about Mitt and the LDS Church…. If any of you are reading it, I beg you my friends to NOT believe the drivelling pukefest being partaken of over there in regards to the LDS church. It is just awful what some of them say about Mitt and the LDS church.

The good thing is that most of the coments over there are positive and many non LDS defended Mitt and the Church. Such lack of integrity to lie like that. It is too too pathetic!

Paulee, I do think perhaps Mitt is the man needed at this time. I have thought that all along. I just hope and pray it goes like it should. I look at him as a gift to America if America can be smart enough to let it happen… does that make sense? KKSM

  12. Tami Says:

KKSM~ What Humanevents board? That’s how I felt when I was reading over at TribTalk. I finally couldn’t take it anymore - all the negative and false info they were putting there about the LDS church. I finally posted… it got me nowhere as I knew it would LOL but it at least made me feel better LOL Anyhoo… it’s hard to read that bad stuff huh? *sigh*

You know what annoys me… Harry Reid is supposedly LDS. That’s what I’ve heard anyway… you don’t hear about his Mormon Faith.. How come? Could it be because he’s a Dem??? Hmmmph LOL

  13. KKSM Says:

Tami: go to the Mittvitten (SP) or Mittmitten (sp) [I just cannot remember for sure] post from a couple of days ago and you will see the words “Human events” bold and italicized in the body of text. Just click on it and away you go. It clicks into page 2. There are now about 30 pages (as of last night, who nows what there is now) of comments. Mostly positive. There are about 4 or maybe 5 people who just come back every few comments and slam Mitt or the Church. I am on there several times. YOu won’t recognize me though because I use some different names. Nearly always a place name instead of a people name. All places I have been either the city or the state. I was born in Indiana, raised in Tennessee and served a mission for the LDS church in Colorado. Those are hints!

    Have fun!

  14. Tami Says:

Call me stupid (no, please don’t lol) but I’m clueless at what website this Human events board is at. I know you post as Tennessee and I’ve seen you somewhere… I think it was the GOP blog board they used to have.

Anyhoo… I still don’t know where to go here lol Could you give me a link please? Thanks!

  18. Tami Says:

Thanks bigmo!! I’m headed over there now :)

  19. Tami Says:

Hmmm… I’m at Humanevents now but I can’t find any boards where posting is going on. Must be blind I guess lol

  20. KKSM Says:

Here Tami, try this one: It should take you right to the story and the comments

  21. Paulee & Mike Says:

KSM: Makes total sense. You and many, many others think it’s Mccain’s ticket to success to choose Mitt. M&M Mature, been around, understand grounding people, keeping us safe, and then the economy, no new taxes!!!!!! Drilling in this country, new car technology, no earmarks. By golly we might just do it, have M&M in the White House. Yeah!!!!!!!!

  22. Tami Says:

Thanks KKSM!! Found it and read all 32 pages of it LOL *my eyes are now crossed* LOL
