Anne Marie:
I am of the opinion that we should be VERY involved. I feel this way for the following reasons:
1) Contributors to this site are(for the most part) dedicated to Mitt Romney and have become his supporters after taking the time to research him, his family, his life, his experiences and his accomplishments.
2) The contributors to this site are not clueless individuals like those found among the liberal supporters of Barack Obama. It would be fair to speculate that the majority of his followers know little to nothing about him, his life, his family or his experiences - he has 143 days in the Senate to his credit- that is ALL.
3) Contributions to this site are generally substance based, well composed, logical and respectful. A level of maturity that is so critical to effective leadership. The McCain Campaign should have only respect for our opinions as they are totally directed to what is good and necessary for our country.
4) If there is no respect for our opinion, it is simply another symptom of how much the politicians have strayed from working “for the people” and we should be very concerned and disturbed about that.

The blogosphere has now become ‘ground zero’ of public opinin. WE NEED TO BE THERE, helping JSM know what direction we the people - the conservative people - want to go in. To much out there is being swayed by the left leaning media and left blogs. I saw nightline last nighte where the interview was gushing over obama, and was asking the UN ambassador what other countries thought of the great god from Amerika. This is the drivil out there. All we really have is Fox, and even that it is questionable with he Huckabee signing and possible ‘talk show’. Yes, we need to be there. How can I help?

ATTENTION ANN MARIE- Why did a comment I made about Bill Clinton get moderated? I said “This coming from a man who can’t control his sexual appetite and behave in a dignified manner.”

Renna,
I agree with your conclusions. When I have spent time on other blogs, almost everyone’s posts are emotional rants, rather than reasoned commentary. Some of the readers of this site have gone over to one of those sites (TribTalk) and came running back here to get away from the loons and to be among people who treat posters respectfully.
I think we definitely need to stay actively involved. Together with other conservative blogs, we can, to a limited extent, influence the course of campaigns. As we know from the study of totalitarian regimes and their use of propaganda, if a lie is told often enough and long enough, it becomes accepted as the truth. If we cede the ‘Net to the left, they win by default.
I was struck by the fact that the POLITICO article used the same phrase to describe the phenomenon that we are discussing as “PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY”, the same title I gave to the post I put up right after Gov. Romney’s withdrawal from the primaries.
