Questions Questions Questions
July 9th, 2008 Posted in This Site
Hello…
I’m back from Florida…my life is still in a whirlwind though, and I’m living my almost always chaotic life as the mother of four special needs children…
I have a few questions to ask though…
- Do you like this template? When we were trying to fix the site, I changed it to a different one and noticed that someone liked it…I could go back to it, or go to a new one.
- I have a different domain name (Romney related) that is better than this one…that I could potentially use for this site, or I could start up kinda a “Romney Shrine” type site that is purely information. What do you think I should do?
- Where do you want to go with this endeavor? I don’t want it to become a McCain lovefest, I want it to continue on about the goals that we’ve had thusfar. But, I’d like others opinions.
I guess that’s it for now. Spill the beans!

Let’s do all we can to push Gov. Romney to the VP spot. I think that if McCain/Romney don’t win, Gov. Romney is the clear face of the party for the next election. If they do win then Gov. Romney is #2.

I AM CONSTANTLY ON THIS SITE BECAUSE YOU TALK ABOUT MITT ROMNEY , I THINK IT SHOULD STAY A MITT ROMNEY SITE . WE SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND THAT WE EVENTUALLY WANT THIS MAN AS OUR PRESIDENT, AND WE SHOULD DO ALL WE CAN TO KEEP SPREADING HIS MESSAGE.
ROMNEY / 2012

I don’t think this site could ever become a McCain love fest. He fails to consistantly stick to the principles that we espouse and Romney embodies. The fact that he tries to show people in the middle that he is like them makes me sick. What you are supposed to do is show the people in the middle why your positions are correct, not pander to them. I like what you are doing with this site.

Well said Eric. Also Evelio and John. Definitely on the same page in regards to no McCain lovefests, Ann Marie. I’m not even sure I’m voting for him yet, that depends on his VP choice. I’m not holding my vote ransom for Mitt on the ticket, but it had better be someone I would trust with the presidency a good deal more than McCain himself.
This current template is fine but I did like the new one you had up briefly a bit better than this. It loaded faster and I think looked smoother, although I missed some of the features of the current template, and could perhaps use a logo. We were thinking a separate media page might be nice.
In my opinion, the goal of this site at this point should be pushing for a prominent place in the Republican Party for Mitt Romney. If not VP, perhaps head of the RNC, which could certainly use one of Mitt’s “turnarounds.” I think the site should cover any Mitt related news, and perhaps give some notice about conservative candidates running at lower levels, especially if Mitt has endorsed them through his PAC. I think John does a good job with that part. I also think this site would serve well as a place people could turn to for rumor-busting. There’s a lot of false or misleading information out there about Mitt, this would be a good place to debunk it.
Also, thanks Ann for keeping this site going. We know its not easy but I’m really glad it didn’t die with Mitt’s candidacy.

For me, it is not pleasant reading other Republican party-based sites, because they are disillusioned into claiming this race is McCain’s to lose. I was like, duh? How much has McCain been in the public light since he “secured” the party nomination? He is virtually nowhere to be seen. What a few things McCain have said, the MSM has filtered them out greatly to the point he sounds “weak” and “small”, being overshadowed by Obama. For every paragraph McCain received in a newspaper article, there are 3 or 4 paragraphs dedicated toward Obama. McCain lacks the PR strength. Also, almost every same site, when it comes to Mitt, does nothing but bash him. I am amazed at the anger people have toward Mitt. I mean, they would claim he is so-so, but their anger exceeds what Mitt could have done. For example, how he “flip-flopped” his stance on abortion (He changed only once, and in the right direction), they would foam at mouth as if he has done something so horribly that he may be a devil himself.
Anyway, it is always refreshing to come here to know how Mitt is doing. It is nice to know what he is doing to help moving along the conservationism, especially how he is helping other conservative candidates at different levels in the government. So, if you could, it’ll be nice if we could read more about other candidates he has formally endored. I don’t mind hearing about them. I know this will stretch your effort to be news-worthy, but this definitely is a direction you should look at. Anyway, thank you for keeping up this site, even when Mitt has gracefully bowed out (those bashing folks still foaming at their mouth about that — can you believe!)

Ann, Glad your back. I like this site. I find the latest Posts easy to transition back from reading comments, then to the other posts. I also like that they are numbered. It easier to respond and not waste time, if no one left a comment. No lovefest for McCain, we still need to support and share all thats happening with Mitt and family. Sure, as we have been doing, passing on related stories, polls happening, some tiny off color comments, etc. For what my two cents is worth, I really appreciate all that I’ve learned here. Thanks
to all who have contributed, esp. Ann for keeping this going for Mitt. You are loyal and a great American.

A lot of people have some animosity towards this website because they feel it will go the McCain way and it simply isn’t true. I just don’t want to post only Mitt Romney related material. I want the Romney material to remain the majority of news we report, with other related information the minority.
This website will always remain a beacon for those who strive for conservative principals and candidates who have embodied those (primarily Mitt).
I much preferred the layout that was clean and fast. I’ve said my dad can make a logo I just need to know how big and what colors.
I think we should implement new tabs at the top of the page for certain aspects such as media/why Mitt?/Biography/etc?
July 9th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
A couple more things.
I forgot to thank you Ann. You are a comMITTed woman who fights for conservative principles.
How can I add a picture above my name?
July 9th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
As to the logo, being that this is an American politics related site, I’d go with red white and blue. Just a thought.

Welcome back Ann! Glad to see the site back up running on all cylinders.
I pretty much agree with most of what everyone else here has stated. The only thing I would add to is what Steve mentioned earlier. Having other related material on the site should continue. Even though Onder, Chaffetz, and Beatty are not Mitt related…their campaigns are interesting to observe from afar and recognize that all is not lost for our party.
Also, November will finally come around thus information on Mitt will be few and far between if he is not McCain’s VP. So having some issues to talk about in between is great.
I enjoy coming this site reading and having discussions with all the pretty cool people on this site. I hope it continues well after this election cycle.

I agree with pretty much everything that has been already posted. I come here mainly for the news about Mitt but certainly don’t mind the other Conservative news. I think I liked that new layout better as well but it really doesn’t matter to me. Whatever is easiest for you!
Thank you for all that you do. Thanks to everyone who posts here and shares links and news bits! I love it!! There’s other boards (TribTalk LOL) where you sure can get trashed so it’s nice to come here and know that everyone will be nice and respectful

I like the current template. There seems to be a problem thought that the page often takes 15 seconds to load. I don’t think it is related to the template but is probably the flash banner or some of the ads. I think the best maintenance for the site would be to find out what is causing the slow loading time and find a quicker solution. I find I don’t click on the posts to read the comments when it takes to long to load.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Hey Steve, Email your picture to me. I’ll crop it and size it and put it up for ya. Same for you Amanda, though I think you did actually send one to me a long time ago. If so I still have it.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
I personally prefer the other layout you had for a little while. I’ve noticed the very slow loading problem that Nate mentioned, and it didn’t happen with the other layout. I also thought the other layout was easier to read. As for another site, I would like one that is more pure Romney info. I love finding articles about and watching clips of the governor, and it would be nice if I could find a site with more Romney-specific stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading this blog, but it would be nice if there was another devoted simply to info.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Thanks EVERYONE.
I think I will do the other site as specific INFO…Put pictures, and stories of his life/business/etc…make it just beautiful. BTW The address will be http://www.mittromney.ws. Right now it’s just a default Wordpress Install, but it won’t stay that way, I just wanted to put something on it.
As for this site it sounds like everyone is in agreement as to the direction. As for the slow load, I plan to cut back the ads a bit (hey I have to make money sorry to say as we all do)…I like the flash header so we’ll have to see how that goes (I’ll play around with different options) but anyway…Thanks to John, Nate, Amanda, and everyone else who has kept it going since Romney dropped out. I REALLY needed the break, and I’m so sorry I can’t be more active just have the real important stuff to do (i.e. being a mother).
Thanks everyone for your comments, keep them coming!

So are we changing the layout?
What about the logo?
July 10th, 2008 at 12:16 am
i like either layout =); both are nice. as long as i have a place to go for my political daily dose, and to express my own thoughts along with view thoughts of other like-minded individuals, i’ll be good! a big “thanks” goes out from us to ann marie and all those who work so hard to keep this blog up and running. it has been a great way to get involved and stay informed this election season.
and i don’t think it should, nor would it ever, become a “mccain love fest!” people on this site know better. they’re too intelligent. but we can all see mccain as the less of two evils. he’s definitely better than “B.O.” (as i’ll refer to barack obama from now on).
i really love posts about mitt. that’s what i prefer to post, myself. things relating to mitt romney, other great conservative foot soldiers or all-stars in the GOP, and basic good ol’ conservative principles are things i think this blog ought to continue to be.
fight on “committed!” with intelligent people running great blogs like this, a grassroots effort’s influence is awesome!
July 10th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Let’s all stay the course. Gov. Romney is a great Republican and an even better man. If we all keep fighting for him, he will be our President within the next 8 years. Remember, it is not how you strart, but how you finish! We need to do everything possible to make Mitt Romney the face of the Republican Party.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Welcome back, Ann. You’ve got your hands happily full with family and we appreciate, more than words can say, all your efforts to provide this site for us!
I enjoy the current template. I definitely think we should keep the main focus of this site on Mitt, Ann, and family. I also appreciate posts on current politics and issues because it provides a forum for us to share insights, express opinions, and share a few laughs.
As far as suggestions go, I’d like to see a link here to Mitt’s “Free and Strong America” PAC and, in anticipation of his being named VEEP, a link to Romney’s own website would be convenient. I’ve been thinking along the same lines as Steve, - to use tabs for particular background info on the Romneys or on-going info for BIG issues - like illegal immigration, energy sufficiency, and terrorism. Regarding the logo, how about putting “ROMNEY” in a bolder, 3-D font encased in red, white, and blue stripes? On “ComMMITed to” maybe a stronger complimentary font all in dark blue with a red-white-blue “twinkling” star dotting the “i” - just my two cents…
Thanks, again, to all who make this forum possible for us! The rumblings that be are emitting “electMITTricity” on an M&M ticket. Thanks to this site, we have a place to keep the Romney fireworks booming!
July 10th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Hi!
I love this site, but I was thinking, since it’s not “pure Romney” content, maybe the address should be something like comMITTedtoamerica dot com or something like that. I know that’s not really what you were asking, but it was just a thought I had. Really whatever moves Mitt toward the goal is fine with me. It would be nice if the site were a bit more colorful, more red maybe . . .
Even if nothing changed, you’re doing a great job!
July 10th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
All,
It seems we are in agreement that the site should be mainly a Mitt Romney site, with attention paid to the conservative men and women who would help implement M.R.’s policies in the White House. IMHO, we have seen, on a relatively small scale, the kind of influence a site like this one can have. As you know, our posts are carried on THE VIRGINIAN FEDERALIST site and at PLANET ROMNEY. Since Steve Andrew and myself have been posting over at the TRIBTALK site, they are posting frequently about Mitt Romney and Jason Chaffetz. Mainly negative, attack posts, but it gets the names out there and we get a chance to offer our rebuttals and post our positive articles as well.
As one of you pointed out, if Mitt is not selected as VP, the site won’t have much to discuss for the next four years unless we keep the focus of our discussions broad enough to follow Congressional races, current events, Romney’s party building activities and the political process in general.

ATTENTION ANN MARIE,
Why did my comment about Bill Clinton get taking off? All I said was ” this coming from a man who couldn’t control his sexual appetite and behave in a dignified manner. I do not understand why my comment was removed.
