One Very Big Reason to Vote for Dr. Bob Onder in Missouri’s 9th District

As we all know, one of the hottest of the hot button issues in America right now is illegal immigration.

I was canvassing a neighborhood for Dr. Bob Onder in Washington, Mo. a couple of weekends ago and when I gave my 30 second “elevator talk” about why I supported Onder for U.S. Congress from Missouri’s 9th district, the phrase that elicited the most passionate responses was: “Dr. Onder has already sponsored a bill that has been signed into law that will enforce our border laws against illegal immigration.”

The economy was a close second, but the voter’s concerns were obviously about what is happening on our southern border and how it will affect Americans from all walks of life.

Below I have excerpted several of the provisions of the bill and I would like to deal with several more each day between now and Missouri’s primary election date of Aug.5. The bill was passed earlier this year, so it will be old news to some of you, but for those readers who are not familiar with the details of the bill, I think this is a good time to remind ourselves of what is at stake in this election year and the importance of supporting only those politicians who will stop the endless pandering and political posturing and will, at long last, actually do something about the challenges we are facing in this country, before it is too late to act!

CCS SS HCS HB 1549, 1771, 1395 & 2366 — ILLEGAL ALIENS AND
IMMIGRATION STATUS VERIFICATION

This bill changes the laws regarding illegal aliens and
immigration status verification.

ENFORCEMENT OF IMMIGRATION LAWS (Section 43.032, RSMo)

The Superintendent of the State Highway Patrol is required,
subject to appropriations, to designate some or all members of
the patrol to be trained in accordance with a memorandum of
understanding between Missouri and the United States Department
of Homeland Security concerning the enforcement of federal
immigration laws during the course of their normal duties in
Missouri.

SANCTUARY CITIES (Section 67.307)

Any county, city, town, or village is prohibited from enacting a
sanctuary policy. Any municipality that enacts a sanctuary
policy will be ineligible for money provided through grants
administered by any state agency or department until the policy
is repealed or is no longer in effect. Upon complaint by any
state resident or before the provision or award of any funds or
grants to any government entity, agency, or political
subdivision, any member of the General Assembly may request that
the Attorney General issue an opinion as to whether the
government entity, agency, or political subdivision has a
sanctuary policy. County and municipal law enforcement officers
must be notified in writing of their duty to cooperate with state
and federal agents and officials regarding matters of
immigration.

PUBLIC BENEFITS (Section 208.009)

Aliens unlawfully present in the United States are prohibited
from receiving a state or local public benefit unless it is
offered under 8 U.S.C. 1621(b). Documentary evidence accepted by
the Department of Revenue for obtaining a driver’s license will
suffice as proof of citizenship, permanent residency, or lawful
immigration status when applying for benefits. Individuals can
temporarily receive state or local public benefits for up to 90
days while obtaining the necessary documentation or indefinitely
if the applicant provides a copy of a completed birth certificate
application which is pending. Nonprofit organizations regulated
by the Internal Revenue Service are not required to enforce these
restrictions, nor are they prohibited from providing aid.

Analysts Chime In: Would Kerry Leave the Senate for a Position in an Obama Administration?

Many things concern me about an Obama Administration. His inexperience in foreign affairs, his non-existent legislative accomplishments, his hard left economics and the company he has kept for 20 years. This articles speculates that Kerry might want to be Secretary of Defense in an Obama administration. The only group of people that Kerry could be persuaded to go to war against are the veterans of Operation Swift Boat that helped to scuttle his chances to win the 2004 presidential election.

By Jeremy P. Jacobs

As the presidential race plugs along and U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Boston) continues his work as a surrogate for presumptive Democratic nominee U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, one hot topic of conversation among the Massachusetts political punditry is whether Kerry is eyeing a spot in a possible Obama administration.

Asked if he thought Kerry would leave, Michael Goldman, a veteran Boston Democratic political strategist responded, “Absolutely. If there was a position, either secretary of state or secretary of defense, I think that he would jump at the opportunity to serve his country in either of those capacities. Maybe UN Ambassador is a third possibility…But certainly there’s no question in my mind that he would love to have an opportunity to do any of those jobs, and quite frankly, I think he believes he’d do a great job with of them.”

To be fair, Kerry has repeatedly said that is not the case. Kerry, who is currently facing a primary challenge from Gloucester attorney Ed O’Reilly and a Republican challenge from former CIA and FBI agent Jeff Beatty, has said he is only focused on returning to the senate for his fifth term.

McCain’s Veepstakes: Pawlenty Mum On His Chances, But Praises Romney

July 31st, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

The Kansas City Star

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty dodged questions Tuesday about whether he’s being considered as a running mate for John McCain.

He said nice things about Mitt Romney, another of McCain’s vice presidential prospects.

Pawlenty said that Romney was “a wonderful person” and has “a lot of strengths and assets.”

Paul Supporters Could Dash McCain’s Hopes In Some Western States

FOX News

“In Nevada, there’s absolutely enough to have an effect on the election,” said Chuck Muth, a leading conservative activist in a state in which early polls show McCain and Democratic candidate Barack Obama in a statistical tie.

“I think that you will see not just Libertarians who always vote for the Libertarian candidate but conservative Republicans saying we’ve had it, we’ve had enough and they’re going to go ahead and vote Libertarian,” Muth said.

Karl Rove Seems To Have Consulted The McCain Camp

July 31st, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

AP MyWay by Liz Sidoti

I am starting to get impressed with the McCain campaign. They have a long and arduous road ahead of them to catch up for what they haven’t done in over two or three months but better sooner than later:

John McCain’s campaign accused Barack Obama of playing “the race card” on Thursday after the first black candidate with a serious chance of winning the White House claimed Republicans will try to scare voters by saying he “doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.” Until now, the explosive issue of race has been almost taboo in the campaign, at least in public, with both sides fearing its destructive force.

“Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It’s divisive, negative, shameful and wrong,” McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said, suggesting the Arizona senator had been wrongfully accused.

Let It Be Romney, Please!

Human Events by Bay Buchanan

So the question for John McCain is who, if anyone can significantly influence Americans to vote Republican in November. The answer is Mitt Romney — and for many more reasons than that he can deliver Michigan’s 17 electoral votes to the Republican column for the first time since 1988.

Static Poll Numbers Bad News For Obama

July 31st, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

Human Events by Evans-Novak

The complete lack of movement in the national polls is good news for Sen. John McCain and bad news for Sen. Barack Obama, even as the Democrat continues to hold a modest lead.

1. First, a word of caution: National polls are generally given undue attention in the press. There is no national election, but rather 51 state elections. On that score, our Electoral College count shows a razor-thin Obama lead (273 to 265).

8. His world tour had two downsides: his utter refusal to accept that the surge was successful or to offer a credible counter-argument makes him look more like a demagogue than a pragmatist. Showing up in London, Paris, and Berlin could make him look more like jet-setter or Euro-rail-hopping student than a world leader. Declaring himself a “fellow citizen of the world,” further feeds that perception.

9. Regarding state-by-state polls, closer examination reveals more troubles for Obama than a surface examination would suggest. In many states where Obama is “ahead” in the polls, such as Nevada, there remain nearly 20% undecided or third-party voters. Almost all of these voters will eventually choose Obama or McCain. Obama’s appeal has been so clearly on display, and Republicans are so unpopular already, that it’s hard to imagine what Obama could do to win over the voters who are still undecided, especially in the states where Obama already campaigned hard in the primaries.

A Baby Daddy For Both Americas

For those few Americans without an Internet connection and to whom I have not faxed the National Enquirer stories: Evidence is accumulating that John Edwards is right — there really are “two Americas.” There’s one where men cheat on their cancer-stricken wives and one where men do not cheat on their cancer-stricken wives.

The Humility & Graciousness Of Governor Romney

July 31st, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in Mitt Romney

It’s unusual to find a politician, or for that matter, a individual who possess an awesome character such as Mitt Romney. He exhibits an endurant humor, positive outlook and intelligent prowess to squelch problems, regardless of the grandness, or lack thereof. Mitt is an exceptional candidate of

judging by the content of the character

Rather than enduring racial intolerance, Mitt endured religious intolerance. I’m not equating the suffering of thousands of African - Americans to a lone Caucasian man who pursued the presidency, but rather I’m saying there are similarities between the two, on a much smaller scale.

As always, our members are the cause of our greatness; just like the United States. I’d like to share a couple things with our members. The first is a story from one of our members - Lorena. Lorena gave us the account of what her brother told her; her brother is a friend of Mitt’s brother-in-law.

As Romney was making his speech my brother called us in tears…the evening before Mitt dropped out he and his team were planning their strategy for continuing in the race. They had plenty of evidence that he could still win so they’d decided to go for it. It was in prayer that night that he was inspired to drop out. That’s why his announcement the next day was so unexpected.

Lorena leaves her post with what I believe is not a hope, but rather an affirmation of what we know will happen:

I believe we’re going to see Romney as president eventually and that God has his hand in orchestrating the events that will lead up to that.

The secondary thing I want to share with you all is a more well known story. It involves Lorenas’ niece’s piano teacher thankfully this story is translated via Youtube:

“Mitt-hammed Ali”

Jay Cost over at Real Clear Politics has a really interesting analysis of why McCain needs Mitt and needs him now. Key quote:

“Never in his political career has Obama encountered an opponent who can land a blow as well as Romney.”

Read the whole analysis here. It’s definitely worth clicking over to read.
