Chaffetz Wins Big—He Turns Cannon Into a Lame Duck

Jason Chaffetz rode the crest of voter anger and frustration over Congress’ dithering on illegal immigration and the energy crisis to sweep Open Borders Congressman Chris Cannon out of office! If I were an incumbent of either party who has been playing the “go along to get along” game while ignoring the express wishes of the people who put me in office, I would be experiencing an epiphany this morning.

Congratulations to the team of unpaid grassroots activists who helped put Jason over the top! Your campaign success is truly “Participatory Democracy” in action.

A groundbreaking grassroots organization built by challenger Jason Chaffetz combined Tuesday with a growing storm of Republican discontent to sweep six-term Congressman Chris Cannon out of office.

Chaffetz handily defeated Cannon, earning 60 percent of the vote to land the Republican nomination for Utah’s 3rd District seat in Congress, a seat held by Cannon since 1996.

“I got a nice call from Congressman Cannon wishing us all the best. That was a sweet call to take,” Chaffetz said after 200 supporters greeted him at 11 p.m. with chants of “Jason, Jason, Jason.”

Unhappy Republican voters stayed home Tuesday, and those who did vote expressed their frustration with $4 gas and other problems. Cannon termed it a revolution, a sign that the anger that swept Democrats to power in Congress had lapped up on Utah’s borders.

Chaffetz agreed voters are frustrated.

“We have to get serious about $4 gasoline, fiscal discipline and the illegal immigration problem in America,” he said. “This is just the beginning. I need your help. We need to take this all the way through November.”

He’ll clearly follow the same blueprint that won the primary.

Good for Utah, and good for you John. I know you’ve been researching and supporting Chaffetz and getting the message out. With McCain and Obama as our only choices, the only way to defeat amnesty and our other problems in government will be at levels like this.

  2. SED Says:

I just read this short article on Slate about Cannon’s lost and how this bodes ill for John McCain another “comprehensive immigration” advocate.

  3. Steve Andrew Says:

A really great win for the nation. This is sending a message to McCain and other Republicans who are for open - borders. Glad your man got the thumbs up John, you did a great job getting the word out. Any other candidates in the nation that are similar to Jason? In terms of beating an open - border Congressman?

  5. John Cronin Says:

    All,

Thank You! It was important to do what little I could to help the cause and I have to say it was great fun supporting a candidate like Jason who “gets it.”

As I understand it, the 3rd district is so conservative and so Republican the Dems won’t bother to field an opponent. Winning the primary is tantamount to winning the general, but if I understand Jason Chaffetz and his team, they won’t get complacent.

Regarding your comment about other Congressional races: the other Congressional race I am interested in is in the 9th CD of Missouri, as I am sure most of you already know. This is a situation where the incumbent, Kenny Hulshof, is giving up his seat in order to run for Governor. Dr. Bob Onder is one of about 6 Republicans who are waging a primary campaign for Kenny’s seat. Former state Senator Ken Jacobs is the big gun on the Democratic side. Dr. Onder’s campaign is looking pretty formidable right now as far as fund raising (Dr. Onder has raised the most cash of any candidate thus far) goes and he also has a strong immigration law enforcement bill and a major “informed consent” bill to protect the rights of women in a possible abortion situation to his credit. As Dr. Onder said to me several weeks ago, he feels fortunate to have these two bills under his sponsorship in his freshman year in the Missouri House.

I am going to be looking at a couple of other races (at least) and as I am sure all of you might expect, you will be among the first to know when I find some hard core conservatives to beat the drums for.

  6. Steven G Stubbs (aka SGS) Says:

John, you would be surprised how often Dems would field their opponent in such a district like this 3rd district. For them, it does not matter what the labels of their candidates are, as long as they could shoe them in and rein in the control of the Washington DC. Yes, they would gladly brand their own candidates as (R) for their sake. Yes, they would have Democrats registered as Republicans just to seize some seats. This is why we end up calling our own not so true Republicans RINOs (Republicans in name only).

  7. Steven G Stubbs (aka SGS) Says:

Oh yes, the difference, though, is how smart the voters are. You either would just check whoever have (R) next to his or her name (those are an idiotic voters, and you know who you are), or you could actually do your homework and study the candidates as well as understanding the issues as encountered by this country. The members of LDS Church have been asked every year to be involved in the community, to study the issues, and to pick the best men and women for the job. So, it won’t surprise me to see that they have study the candidates at a higher rate than on the national level. After all, more LDS are college educated and have earned higher level degrees than the national level. They are serious about education. It won’t be a big step for them to understand what is wrong with our country and who are the ones to resolve them.

  8. Nate Gunderson Says:

Bigmo, are you in the 3rd district?

  9. Doria/Texas Says:

Hey SGS, I am not LDS but I do agree w/you that a very high % of LDS are college educated and very smart. Just look at Gov Mitt!! He’s #1.
I am very glad about Chaffetz winning. Good job!

Awesome! This is very good news for the conservative movement. This gives me hope that the GOP is able to return to conservative principles. Quote:
Romney, who finished second in the long primary race, isn’t the only good choice McCain could make for vice president. But he could be the best.

In big ways, Romney has strengths where McCain is weak — like economics, a topic McCain has with a decent candor admitted to knowing little about. Romney’s addition could cancel that out and create a strong ticket headed for victory.

It’s not that McCain is a dullard when it comes to the economy. But with only honorable government service as his experience, his perspective is somewhat narrow. His first impulse on issues tends to lean toward government solutions.

That’s given him a good record as a budget-cutter and corruption-fighter in Congress, as well as the leader of keeping pork out of politics. But it’s an austere means of keeping an economy humming; that takes broader, market-oriented ideas.

  20. John Cronin Says:

Here is a press release from Dr. Bob Onder’s campaign.

    ~~John Cronin~~

    June 30, 2008

Onder proposes national 24-hour waiting periods on abortions

On the eve of another debate of legislation he sponsored to criminalize “coercion” of abortions, state Rep. Bob Onder, R-Lake Saint Louis, is proposing a national 24-hour waiting period for women who want to terminate pregnancies.

According a release from the campaign, hypothetical legislation would enact the waiting period and prompt physcians to provide the following:

    (1) the physician’s name (2) medically accurate information on the abortion method, medical risks, alternatives to abortion, including adoption, and information on follow-up care (3) the gestational age of the unborn child (4) the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the unborn child (5) the opportunity to view an ultrasound or hear a fetal heartbeat at a local health facility free of charge (6) information that it is illegal to coerce an expectant mother into having an abortion, and that she may withdraw her consent at any time (7) descriptions of the unborn child’s development, including brain and heart functions (8) information on the possibility of causing pain to an unborn child older than 22 weeks gestational age through an abortion (9) the fact that a child’s biological father is liable for child support regardless of whether he offered to pay for an abortion.

“Societies are ultimately judged by how they treat their most vulnerable citizens,” Onder said in a statement. “My proposed legislation would give voice to the voiceless. A national 24 hour waiting period will ensure a period of reflection before the irreversible decision to terminate a pregnancy. And by enhancing our informed consent laws, we will ensure that expectant mothers have access to all the relevant information they need and deserve to know before making such a momentous decision. Together, these measures will encourage expectant mothers in difficult circumstances to choose life, saving perhaps thousands of lives every year.”

Onder’s campaign said that the waiting period would be “enforcable by U.S. Attorneys.” But Onder’s legislation would “also have Congress condition certain federal benefits to the states on the existence of a state 24 hour waiting period and significant informed consent laws” in order to encourage states to enforce the measure.

Onder’s proposal is perhaps a response to the fact that U.S. Representatives typically don’t deal with abortion policy that much. But while it probably wouldn’t receive much traction in a Democratically-controlled Congress, it could also face trouble from Republicans who prefer the issue to be dealt with at the state level.

“I don’t oppose what Bob is doing, but I think it’s probably best left handled at the state-level,” said Blaine Luetkemeyer, a Republican also running for Congress. “Until Roe v. Wade is overturned, I think that’s the only way you can go with trying to do something like that. I think what he’s trying to do is really going to be difficult to do.”

ADDENDUM: Onder spokesman Jay Barnes sent me the following statement in response to Luetkemeyer:

“It’s nice that Blaine doesn’t actively oppose what would be one of the most important pro-life measures to ever come out of Washington. But it’s very disappointing that he essentially admitted he would be worthless to the pro-life cause in Congress. Nobody told Henry Hyde it would be easy when he first proposed the Hyde Amendment. No one told people like Sam Brownback it would be easy when they proposed a federal ban of partial-birth abortions. What Blaine’s saying though, is, “If it’s difficult, don’t count on me to do anything.”

Onder, Luetkemeyer, state Rep. Danie Moore, R-Fulton, and former MU football player Brock Olivo are the major Republican contenders for the Ninth District seat.

CHECK THIS OUT…………MCCAIN PICKS ROMNEY FOR VEEP. ( COULD IT BE TRUE ? )

  26. Paulee & Mike Says:

Hi everyone, gee , be so glad when we are fixed!!! Just have to share this Quinn and Rose, talk radio stated, You heard it first here, Mitt Romney will be McCain’s VP. He said a little bird told him, and he is dead serious. I want so to believe this. So many I speak to still think it should have been Romney for Pres. They don’t like Maccain , think he is too old! Seriously, he’s got to get some life in him pretty soon. He’s got to get it!!!!! He has to act more confident, more presidential, and start coming up with real solutions. My goal is to continue to hope for Mitt and tell the world we will be better off with Mac and Mitt. People say, Obama is young and has good ideas. I wish Mccain would be sincere, speak from his heart, convince the people it won’t be four more years of Bush. Although, I respect Pres. Bush, voted for him twice, he’s made some mistakes. These were so costly and congress didn’t help either. It’s a upsetting time.

  27. John Cronin Says:

As long as McCain keeps his pledge that he “gets it” on illegal immigration and that he respects the will of the people on this issue, then maybe this won’t be such a bad thing.

If he flip flops after the election, this would cause the Right as well as many moderates/independents to go ballistic. I have been on the campaign websites of Democrats and they are running on platforms of border security, no amnesty and English as the official U.S. language. Any movement to the left on this will seriously hurt McCain/Romney.

  28. bigmo Says:

McCain never got it on illegal immigration. He said he did but the only thing he “got” was that if he dodged the question enough, there were enough misinformed voters to allow him to squeak through the primary. He recently said comprehensive immigration reform is his number 1 priority “yesterday, today and tomorrow”. How a WOT hawk like him could say that I have no idea. Took a lot of gall. I just hope that if he does pick Mitt, Mitt doesn’t compromise on this. I’m ok with Mitt offerring “No Comment” responses on the subject if it comes up during the election so as not to insult his running mate, but once in office he’d better stand up for American citizens. I think he will but I hope McCain listens.

  29. KKSM Says:

I don’t know if the collegecandy thing is right or not, but it was fun commenting on there. I would love it if this was true, but I won’t really get my hopes up until I hear if from himself (McCain). I read your comments bigmo: GOOD GOIN’!!!! People are so weird, they cannot think of anything nice to say ever and someone always has to get their digs in about “the Mormons”… good grief..

John Cronin: thanks for all you are doing to fix the site. Thank the other administrator for their efforts will you please????

Paulee: so good to hear from you. I know I am the one that has been mia lately. I am getting less meetings now though. I really hope they do pick Mitt so I can go back to work… I would gladly do what I can.

Thanks KKSM. I was bothered by how ignorant the previous posters seemed of the situation.

  31. KKSM Says:

Bigmo: pardon the bad grammar, but ain’t it the truth? I am amazed at how little they know and what they think they know. I am amazed that people are so willing to believe and/or make a lie. I just don’t understand. I can’t quite understand cleaving to a lie when the truth is so much better! Do you? I also do not get parrotting! They just go along repeating everything negative, but try to get them to know and understand someting positive and it is like beating your head against the wall…..

  33. Paulee & Mike Says:

Now, history repeats itself. Mccain’s committee has a kinda James Bond ad, they have two “pants on fire lies” about Obama. This will kill the straight talk machine. Why can’t they just tell the truth. Win fair and square!!!! Just heard the RNC will release ads in Mich.
Penn. Ohio, and they are using Brad Todd, Mitt’s publicity person. What would Mccain do without Mitt?????????Agreed, biggest difference immigration!I stand with Mitt, come here

Some of us have to maintain ethics and morals. Just a curiosity, do we like our first lady showing all that cleavage, personally I like the Laura Bush , Ann Romney look. Maybe rounded necklines with pearls, allitte class would be nice!!!! I know, I’m conservative!!

Cleavage? I must’ve missed that!! LOL Are you talking about Cindy McCain? Yeah I prefer the lady look like Ann and Laura have! I read somewhere the other day that many anti-Obama blogs had been shut down or not working… I know that this site isn’t necessarily an anti-Obama blog as much as it is a pro-Romney one but I just wondered… could that be why this site isn’t working right now? Just wondering… have a great day everyone! GO MITT!!

  37. Steve Andrew Says:

    Tami,

You can never rule out a possibility. That said, we are aren’t the worst anti-Obama website. We usually only talk about Obama on the issues. We aren’t spreading that he might be or was a Muslim.

McCain: Staff Shakeup Part of “Natural Evolution”

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer

MEXICO CITY - Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Thursday that a shake-up in the leadership of his campaign was part of a “natural evolution” as the organization becomes more national in scope.

McCain’s campaign announced Wednesday that top adviser Steve Schmidt would assume a broad portfolio of duties, with nearly full control over message and strategy. Schmidt will report to Rick Davis, who will keep the title of campaign manager but focus on longer term matters like the Republican National Convention and McCain’s choice of a running mate.

Addressing reporters at the conclusion of a three-day visit to Colombia and Mexico, the GOP nominee-in-waiting downplayed the personnel shift.

“Our campaign continues to grow, and the responsibilities are expanding and Mr. Schmidt is taking over some increased responsibilities,” McCain said. “Rick Davis remains the campaign chairman, campaign manager. It’s a natural evolution as we become more and more of a national campaign with increased staff and increased responsibilities.”

  41. shiggz Says:

Could be part evolutionary remember McCain went bankrupt in the summer and never put together much of an advertising or staff organization.

Also I think he came out of the primaries pretty broke. Probably just now getting the money together to start building a national organization which would involve surely promoting some and hiring others who you wish had the money to hire in the first place.

Im not huge political fan of McCain (though at least he didn’t try to start a holy war to win 1 frakkin state ala huckster) But with articles like this you can see his core seems loyal to America and not just in a narrow ideological way like Obama.

    http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1214492529435&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Anyway just thought it was a good read.

  42. Steve Andrew Says:

Little stuff like this is going to get McCain. This makes the McCain campaign look weak and unorganized, which to an extent, it is. Governor Romney will go down as having the most organized campaign and this is the kind of help McCain needs in order to confide to the American people his message of hope and change.

  43. KKSM Says:

ok, so I am listening to Hannity and Colmes and Dick Morris is on. He is going through the poll in Montana that shows Obama way up and over McCain. Do you think it would make a difference to Montana if Mitt was put on the ticket? I kind of do as he won the Primary there, or was it the caucus. I cannot remember, but I know Mitt won handily.

I am nervous that O would be over McCain in Montana as they are generally so traditional. Kind of scary… KKSM

  44. Paulee & Mike Says:

Sorry, can’t help about Montana, did see that show, I think it’s critical who Mccain picks given his age. People are going to be looking at that very closely. I saw Mccain speak 8 yrs. ago, and then today. Eight yrs. has slowed him down a great deal! Of course that is natural, however ,we need a sharp mind and someone who can carry on if Mccain should fail. It’s Mitt, anyone who can put aside all their pettiness should see that!!! He has not they say, FLIP FLOPPED any more than Obama and Mccain no. 1. No. 2 Freedom of Religion, period!!!!! And here we are!!!Enough folks loved him, he came in second Mccain!!!!! ( with a little help from his friends, Mccain that is)
Did you see the black lady who chose to sing The Black National Anthem, when asked to sing Our Countries National Anthem, is this how it is going to be????Sorry, folks, I can’t vote for Obama, it’s way too scary for me.
By the way, God ,Please Bless this land we call America. Have a wonderful 4th.
I heard Mitt was speaking in N.H. Lucky you!!!!!

  45. KKSM Says:

  46. Paulee & Mike Says:

KKSM: Thanks for yet another hopeful site. Listen to this, Charlie Crist asked his date at the cookout at Mccains to marry him. Timely, isn’t it????? Alarms me alittle. Guess the rumors of him being gay, aren’t true?????? Isn’t he also for abortion???? I don’t trust
    that duo, wonder why?

  47. KKSM Says:

Paulee: Because you are smart is why you don’t trust them.

You are right, they are frightening and it also possible that it was all just innocent and a great time around friends (??). I am not going to be settled until an anouncement is made one way or the other…

  48. John Cronin Says:

I hope Crist wouldn’t ask a woman to marry him just for political cover. He is an open borders politician and only recently started to support domestic oil drilling because public opinion demands it, so I don’t trust him either.

The End of Wes Clark’s V.P. Camapign……Another Liberal Bites the Dust

It may ultimately be a good thing for Barack Obama that Wesley Clark stepped into such a mess when he discussed John McCain’s military service this week.

The background of the Clark flap is by now familiar: On CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday, the retired general said that “I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president,” a comment that has been portrayed by the right – and by much of the media – as an effort to disparage McCain’s service.

While Obama quickly rebuked Clark, much of the left has rushed to the Clark’s defense, noting that he was merely responding to a question that was almost identically phrased and that he was only drawing a reasonable distinction between

McCain’s military service and the experience needed to set U.S. foreign policy.
Clark’s defenders have a point, but in the bigger picture the details of the argument aren’t what’s important. The real significance of this week’s controversy – however unfair and unjust it is – is that it pretty much ensures that Clark won’t be on the Democratic ticket this fall, something that seemed a very real possibility beforehand. And Clark, almost certainly, would not have lived up to his potential as a running-mate.

  50. Jon Says:

Wow, has this website just bitten the dust or what?

    Romney tops McCain’s VEEP list.
    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11435.html

“Some of McCain’s closest confidants evince little enthusiasm for Romney, feelings that are owed in part to lingering bad blood from the GOP primary, a genuine skepticism that such a conventional pick could bolster the ticket in a grim year for the GOP and concerns about whether his Mormon faith could imperil McCain in Southern states that Obama hopes to put into play.”

Even though Romney is the obvious choice (and nobody else really comes close), politico.com once again managed to drag up the Mormon thing and the “bad blood” issue. If there should be any bad blood, it should be from Romney’s side after he got swift boated by the McCain-Huckabee tag team. Mitt was a gracious loser and has been McCain’s biggest supporter since.

Obama has his own problems. Many Hillary fans are not as anxious (since Obama’s not helping to pay off their debts) to jump onto the hope and change wagon to disaster.

Not sure if you are saying this site has bitten the dust, or the politico.com site.

I just want you to realize that this site is having some problems and John and others are working very hard to fix it. I am sure it will be up and running as quickly as is humanly possible. In the mean time, everyone is just checking in here and posting whatever comes up on this thread. I hope it gets fixed so that those trying to fix it can relax. We appreciate all that the powers that be do for this site.

Where is Rusty??? What is going to happen with the VP petition? Is he still going to send it? I would say that soon would be very timely, with all the talk of vp etc…. KKSM

    All:

Nate Gunderson had a conversation with Ann and it appears to be that a bot hacked into our database and disrupted our files. In order to remedy the problem, Ann will attempt to update the version of WordPress we use and assign new passwords to the authors.

Nothing is set in stone but there might be a possibility that the aforementioned things get accomplished by or on Monday. Per Nate it seems that Ann is driving up from Florida back from her well needed vacation.

Hope everybody had a great fourth of July!

  53. Mit 10 Says:

Jon I think Obama may want Hillary to help strengthen his bid for the White House. What say you? If he picks Hill, I think McCain will have to pick Romney. Then I think Romney may get vetted all over again. The liberal media is so anti conservative. I think it is Romney the Demo’s fear the most.

  54. Mit 10 Says:

Paulee & Mike, I think a true politician will do whatever is politically expedient to get a desired appointment. I guess I am a cynic at heart but I still believed Romney would have worked night and day to get America working.

  55. Jon Says:

Mitt 10, I would be more surprised if Obama tapped Hillary for VP than if McCain chose Romney. While it seems to make sense to choose Hillary, I think the pride and animosity between the camps is little too much. Perhaps Hillary is hoping for another chance in 2012? I reckon that this election was the one for her if it was going to happen.

Obviously there is a lot of ill feeling between the Obamas and the Clintons. I think it’s pretty obvious that this whole unity tour was a deal struck by the two. Obama will assist in raising money to help pay off her 30 million debt from the primaries. In return, Hillary will try and convince her supporters that the guy she has just slammed for the past 6 months is now, all of a sudden, well qualified to hold the highest office in the land.

I guess Romney had a similar challenge with supporting McCain but he has done a great job and even McCain’s closest confidants have had to admit that, despite not liking Romney (I’m convinced it’s because he is so much more suited for the job than McCain!), he certainly has been a tremendous aid to the campaign.

  56. Steve Andrew Says:

I really don’t understand why everybody (not just the members who posted in the comments) get that there is a lingering dispute between McCain and Romney. John McCain and Mitt Romney understand that in the end, its all politics. Sure there might be an ounce of disappointment from Romney and an ounce of bitterness from McCain but as Romney has said, we need to ignore our differences and move forward together, for the good of the nation.

  57. KKSM Says:

    Steve and Mitt 10:

As I sit here with a huge computer problem, I decided to check in. I wanted to comment on the last 2 posts. I think the thing is called maturity. Mitt has greatly demonstrated it while McCain, I am not so sure of. Although, I kind of think he is getting better!

Well, that was short lived, my husband is here to try to fix my printing problem. This would be good as this is a whole lesson for tomorrow which I am praying is not lost…. KKSM

  58. Paulee & Mike Says:

KKSM: Sorry about your computer problem, It’s so frustrating. Let us know, if your aok.
Hey, bad blood???? How about Kennedy and Johnson, Reagan and Bush 1????? I’ve heard many nice compliments from Mccain about Mitt and ANN, how they have grown to love them. Perhaps another lie????? I hope not!!!!!
John, After all I have observed this primary, I would believe anything for a politician to climb that White House Ladder!!!!!! REF. Crist and marriage. I would hope not as well, pretty shallow, I’d say. Maybe it is real, we’ll see? More drama!!!!!!!This is beginning to feel like a soap opera!!!Got to check MSNBC. I wonder how much press that will get?

  59. John Cronin Says:

    All,

As you know, Ann Marie and Nate are working on correcting the posting problems we have had for the last 11 days.

Thanks to all for sticking with the site. Man, have I got some posts I want to put up!

The TribTalk site has really gotten it’s tighty whiteys in a twist over me and Steve’s posts. They go completely nuts when we post anything about Mitt Romney.

Another thing that has struck me about the posting problems. I take it as a “left-handed” compliment that they thought we were dangerous enough to their belief system that they tried to close us down.

    Romney Rising

Mitt Romney’s surge toward the Republican vice presidential nomination was boosted at last month’s Texas state party convention in Houston.

Romney, the predominant conservative choice to be Sen. John McCain’s running mate, was pleasantly surprised to encounter a paid audience of about 3,500 for a Republican fundraising dinner. He received a standing ovation after delivering a conservative stemwinder.

A footnote: Vice presidential prospects for Bobby Jindal, the 37-year-old first-year governor of Louisiana, suffered when he vetoed a pay raise for state legislators after promising them he would sign it. However, conservative anti-tax activist Grover Norquist, who has boosted Jindal for the ticket, said the veto made him stronger.

  61. KKSM Says:

    Woow, cool new look!

I like it that I too feel Romney is coming up and has a great chance to be able to bless America in a way he is supposed to, in a way he can. I truly believe he can make a difference. There is another opinion letter about him today. It was very good. Some of the resulting comments have been good, others not so much. I think I shall go over and stir things up a bit. I did one this morning but it had never shown up… what a pity.

The lesson was lost, it took me 1.5 hrs to do it again and it was better by far the second time, although I did miss a meeting this morning as I pretty much slept through it. oops!

  62. Steve Andrew Says:

    KKSM:

Are you a teacher? If so thats neat, teaching was among my career choices.

I like the new look too! Thank Nate!

  63. bigmo Says:

The color scheme is great! It also loads faster.

  64. KKSM Says:

Yes Steve, I am a teacher.

What I lost however was a lesson for Church. I have the opportunity to teach women every 3rd month on the first Sunday of the month. I had a lesson prepared all about the founding fathers and them being led by a divine hand to do what they did. I had worked pretty hard on it. I had a lot of quotes from them about God and Jesus. I was pretty disappointed when my laptop froze at the very idea of printing. So, I went downstairs and redid the whole thing on my desktop.

I love to teach. I am confused. Are you a teacher now? Or did you nearly choose it and change your mind? If so, what do you teach?

  65. Steve Andrew Says:

    KKSM:

I’m 16 and narrowed my career paths down to three, teaching was one of them. The other two were politics and business.

Teaching is cool though it doesn’t pay as well as being in politics or business.

    Bigmo:

It loads faster due to removing the banner. No ads either!

  66. KKSM Says:

No way you are 16! are you kidding me???? I really gotta hand it to you for maturity. I thought you were some big political old guy! Nope, apparently you are one of those wonderful bright 16 year olds that I wish there were more of somewhere. I must say, you handle yourself well on all the boards I have seen your name on….

You are NOT kidding me are you??? I am very gullible.

Teaching is lots of fun. I love it. I teach special needs adults part time. If you do go into teaching, what would it be? You should seriously consider government and civics on a college level… I think you would be great at that.

are you sure you are just 16? I am blown away

  67. Steve Andrew Says:

Born Sept. 15, 1992 (same as Prince Harry) - no joke.

It’s very unlikely I’ll go into teaching. I’m more interested in the corporate and political world. Much like George and Mitt Romney.

Perhaps I’ll teach Sunday school at my church sometime? Probably be easier than regular teaching!

  68. KKSM Says:

Well Steve, you may be right Sunday School can be less demanding and it is fun too. Being in a classroom can be pretty demanding on a daily basis. For me, it is worth it as those with special needs dispense rewards without even trying to or meaning to… It is a great life with them. I have also taught “normal” and wonderful kids like yourself. I thank God for kids like you everyday….

Whatever you decide to do, I have no doubts that you will do it will…. blessings

  69. Steve Andrew Says:

I thank you for that KKSM, you are a very sincere person who is an integral part of comMITTed. Look forward to your posts once the website is fixed!

  70. mikeVA Says:

When does this site become a source for Mitt Romney again? All of the Mitt pictures are gone! Looks like the links to Romney related sites and information are gone! You all have ruined this site, to fill it with useless ramblings.

  71. Steve Andrew Says:

    Mike:

I assure you, useless ramblings are not on this website. We are enhancing the quality of the site. We will integrate pictures in some way but must have accessibility and aesthetics in mind while doing so.

You must be new or a member who hasn’t been here in awhile - glad to have you back Mike!

    S

  72. bigmo Says:

BAH! You respond to his allegations of useless ramblings with MORE useless ramblings! Sir, you have given him insult. He demands satisfaction! On Mike’s behalf, I challenge you to a dual! OK just kidding, I just thought his comment sounded a bit melodramatic considering you don’t even have the site fully running again. Maybe there could be a separate photo page? That way we don’t have to load all of the pictures every time we check out the site.

  73. Steve Andrew Says:

Yes Bigmo; sort of like a ‘media’ page.

  74. Steve Andrew Says:

OMG guys, I feel really proud. People at TribTalk are calling me names!!!!

  75. KKSM Says:

Steve Andrew, I am so proud of you!~ You really hold your own over there.

There is a pattern here, those people know as much about the LDS Church as they know about politics… nothing. Most of what I read on there was so full of misinformation it was ridiculous. Guess what, it is the same with their politics, they are really messed up in these two areas.

So, this is my conclusion. They are using 3rd sources for their info!!!! For instance, if I wanted to research a high powered company, I would go to that compamy, not to an outside source. So, it seems to me that they are getting spurious information in these 2 areas of politics and religion. And, notice the inhumility: they refuse to be taught the truth… that is a powerful powerful lesson in this whole thing. Get information from the source, not from someone that probably doesn’t know…. and humbly accept the truth when taught from the source….

I am happy to know you Steve Andrew!!!!

  76. Tami Says:

Holy cow patties!! They sure are brutal over there at TribTalk…. not nice at all. Steve and John… you both handle yourself quite well. I appreciate all you do. I have posted a couple times and it’s scary LOL

  77. Steve Andrew Says:

    KKSM:

Yeah, sometimes I just feel like using this quote:

I didn’t call you stupid, I called you a liberal.

You’re right, its like bypassing the person who has a heart-attack and asking the wife!

In reply to your last line: the feeling is mutual ;)

    Tami:

They are and they resort to verbal jousting! Keeping the Conservative/Republican movement is essential for the good of the country. Thanks :)

  78. Steve Andrew Says:

I really liked the layout that was on here, Nate/Ann/John, what’s the status?

  79. bigmo Says:

I guess we’re all back to having started being committed to conservative principles in 2005. I never liked that tagline (although I understand its not what it sounds like) because its ripe for parody, especially since Governor Romney switched his policy position regarding abortion from effectively pro-choice to pro-life in 2005. I guess it doesn’t matter since there aren’t really any people coming here to knock Mitt anymore, but it just seems like an easy target if someone did. Then again I’m probably engaging in that trademark “useless rambling.”

  80. John Cronin Says:

    Everybody,

I attended a planning meeting last night with the Director of the Bob Onder for Congress campaign and Dr. Onder’s wife, Alison. We all viewed Bob’s latest TV ad, although I had viewed it earlier that day. Nicole Brown, from the campaign office, had emailed me the YouTube link and I had the chance to see it before I left for the meeting.

We met for an hour and had a great time discussing the new grassroots mailing system that the campaign is working on. This site and TribTalk came up in the discussion. Dr. Onder has done several Google searches and found his press releases on CommittedToRomney and is very grateful for the help we have provided.

One of the things that struck me about the evening was the chance to give feedback to the campaign by talking directly to Dr. Onder’s wife, Alison. She is involved in the day-to-day media decisions, working with the media team on the direction that she and Dr. Onder want to see the campaign’s message take.

She asked me what I liked best about the new TV ad. I said that what I liked was how the ad talked about three issues that are very important to conservatives and two of which are headline items. The ad mentioned the abortion issue, which is a bedrock issue with conservatives. The other two were illegal immigration and energy costs. I told Alison that immigration and gasoline costs are being discussed on a daily basis by the sites I am familiar with. I also told her I thought it was very effective to include the whole family in the ads. As I told her last night, when you, your husband and your six children walk through the door, you have already established your pro life “street creds.” She laughed and said that’s very true.

I also had the chance to meet the heads of two GOP clubs that are helping with the campaign and they asked me to email them with the site’s address so that they can read our posts.

It was good to be with like-minded people and I am looking forward to working with them as the campaign gets closer to the Aug. 5 primary.

  81. bigmo Says:

    Nice work, John!

  82. SteveAndrew Says:

Great news John. I’ll be honest and tell you I haven’t been very aware of Dr.Onder besides the press releases you post, but I’ll have to go to the website and check him out.

Did you tell them they don’t like us very much over there at TribTalk?

  83. Paulee & Mike Says:

Great work, John. Like minded people are refreshing, aren’t they? Mitt did well on Hannity last p.m. Read an article, he and Ann have a nice beachfront home on the ocean. I find the ocean waves ” A washing machine for the mind.” Mitt stated, he has always wanted to hear the waves crashing on the shore. Good for them, no, great for them!!! Yet another American dream accomplished!
