Former Gov. Mitt Romney, who few would deny has had a tough political year, isn’t letting that deter him from helping out his friends.
The former contender for the Republican presidential nomination will be on Cape Thursday at a reception for his fellow Republican and friend, state Rep. Jeffrey Davis Perry, R-Sandwich.
These two Republicans became friends during their shared time on Beacon Hill.
In 2006 when Perry’s 2-month-old granddaughter Paige Victoria Perry died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Romney quietly offered his emotional support to the Perry family, out of the public eye.
Thursday’s event is a fundraiser for Perry. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at the Cape Codder Resort, Route 132, Hyannis.
Banstable County Sheriff James Cummings will be the master of ceremonies

Whoa, for a second when I read the headline I thought of open-borders Texas Governor Rick Perry. Glad that wasn’t the case. Great to see Mitt still out there doing the right thing. Just a reminder, that MSNBC VP poll goes back up tomorrow, so lets all go vote. Its going to be Romney vs. Pawlenty and Jindal vs. Powell in the final four. Let’s get Mitt to the finish line!
