Poll: Hottest Races On Republican Side
All eyes are on Utah this weekend as voters get ready to cast their ballots this Tuesday, June 24. The race between incumbent Chris Cannon and Jason Chaffetz is getting national attention because the stakes are so high and because the race is a surrogate referendum on whether we start drilling for domestic oil and wean ourselves from our dangerous dependence on foreign oil and whether we will finally secure our borders and insist that our immigration policies will be guided by the rule of law.
If you want to see these positions upheld in Congress and you live in Utah’s 3rd Congressional District, please be sure you vote for Jason Chaffetz and bring along 2 or 3 like minded friends or relatives.
Vote for Jason Chaffetz for Congress in Utah’s 3rd District this Tuesday!!

It’s a primary election too close to call, and the hottest political races are among Republicans.
Congressman Chris Cannon is facing another close election next Tuesday, this time against fellow Republican Jason Chaffetz. And that’s not all: The state’s treasurer’s race is close too. These are a hard-fought Republican-versus-Republican races, and an exclusive Dan Jones poll for KSL and The Deseret News shows no clear winner in either race.
In the 3rd Congressional District race, challenger Jason Chaffetz is aggressive about running for office. Before and since the Republican state convention, he’s been attacking incumbent Chris Cannon’s record.
The race has boosted interest in the primary. Of the 312 registered voters in the 3rd District, interest is high. All of them expressed they are very or somewhat likely to vote. But how will they vote?
The poll shows Cannon with a slight edge over Chaffetz, 44-40 percent. But the remaining 16 percent are undecided, which means Tuesday’s results could depend on turnout.
“Of those, those who show the most interest, Chaffetz is one or two points ahead. But of those who plan to vote, it is Mr. Cannon,” said political pollster Dan Jones.

It is correct that alot of people here are undecided. I know many people who are undecided because they simply cannot work up trust for Chaffetz. They think he has spoken out of both sides of his mouth or something. I have actually been able to expose myself to very little of him, so I cannot say either. My husband does not like him though. Don’t know exactly why, just says a “feeling of distrust”. I read the comments when they come out, but they are confusing because both sides are out in force and it is impossible to see what is right with all the impassioned talk either way.
Now, turn the above comment upside down and make it about Cannon you will get a feeling for what goes on here. It is a very heated and contested race. Not at all easy to choose.
Also in our paper today is this article about Mitt on the ticket with McCain. It was a poll run here.

It would be an easier vote if Jason lived in the district.

KKSM: Babies alright, same ole crap. Do you think these ignorant people will ever get it through their thick heads, all religions have had set backs. Nothing is perfect, I hate to say this, but what’s worse than all children violated by Priests etc. We must move forward, wrongs have been righted. I’m sure, lots of folks were alarmed with the anti-white, anti-american talk from Rev. Wright! You see, man is not perfect! This life is a work in progress, as long as we face facts, honest facts!!! Once and for all, Mitt’s religion should not hold him back in any way!!!!!!

I don’t live in the district but I think it would be good to send new blood to Wash. Although I have not heard the negatives on Chaffetz. I think it would be powerful to send different people to Wash to get the insiders to recognize we want them to work for us.

Paulee,
Good on ya!!!! I am so impressed with your comments. I left a positive one too. I love it. No one hollared at me today though. I am kind of disappointed too. I was thinking I would get a good lashing, but nothing. I think they ignore me alot because I sign in under the same name very often. There sure is a lot of negativity on there isn’t there? How sad to be so negative about someone and know so little about them. Mitt is NOT responsible for gay marriage in MA. It is the same with George Bush, they just want to blame that poor guy for everything. If their roses don’t bloom, it is GWB’s fault. If their dog takes off, guess whose fault it is. Disgusting and pathetic. They want to make Mitt their scape goat…. KKSM

KKSM: This is a big country, not all people are as involved as we are, unfortunately. We are reading probably alot of HUCK’S people comments, ya think? Thanks, I’m so comMitted to the Romney’s, my gut just says these are good people. We need honest
people in Washington. I didn’t see your comments, but I know your loyalties. Go get um!
Until we have lost this election, no Mitt, I will fight to the end. It is horrible how they are making Bush a laughing stock, they should be ashamed. No respect!

Paulee: Hints for when you (or any others on here) read our paper, I was born in INDIANA, I am passionate and ARDENT, and I loved HUMPTYDUMPTY when I was a kid (don’t ask me why exactly, but it may have to do with the fact that kings are not a good idea and are not good for much as a whole).
You are right about the comments. If it is not Huckabee followers, it is just the haters. I don’t understand how someone could not see or feel the goodness of Mitt. It floors me and I get equally floored that he stays so dogged by the lies about him… I just don’t get it. One of my 3 entities defend him with regularity. KKSM
