Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.) Wednesday called on Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to select former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) as his running mate.
“I hope I’m starting a movement,” Musgrave said in an interview. “In Colorado, we love Mitt Romney.”
Musgrave said that during the Colorado Republican convention, every caucus she visited had made Romney its top choice — a trend that was reflected in the caucus totals.
Romney won the Colorado caucus with 60 percent of the vote, dwarfing McCain’s, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s and Rep. Ron Paul’s (Texas) totals.
She added that while she hadn’t spoken to her fellow House Republicans about her pitch for Romney, she expressed confidence that other members would follow suit.
She cited Romney’s “real-world experience” as an executive as a particular attribute that would “serve McCain well.”
Musgrave, a staunch conservative on social issues who is being targeted this fall by Democrats, said, “I know conservatives can count on [McCain and Romney] to support traditional values and fight to protect the tax dollars of working families.”

The new math: McCain + Huckabee = GOP disaster.
GOP disaster = Romney by landslide in 2012.

Well, so far the “nos” outweigh the “yeses” and I am so glad! Go Mitt!
Andrew, I like your math. I pray we do NOT have to suffer for 4 years, but whatever it takes….

Gosh, everywhere I turn I hear Mitt for VP. Some that don’t get it, say no to him, still hearing Mccain doesn’t like Mitt! If I were Mccain with all that Mitt is doing for him and the party, I’d be forever grateful. They raised almost 22 million in the month of May.Let’s make sure he wins that MSNBC poll, Todd doesn’t speak highly of Mitt, but Gregis bullish for Mitt!!! The media sways people way too much!!! Mitt is doing a wonderful job for the RNC, they are very fortunate. He’s the package and we need him NOW!!I am one who hates to wait, esp. when action is critical.

2 Nights in a row Bill O’Reilly is saying McCain will pick Romney! Looking at the toss up states of CO, WI, MI, it just males sense! Mitt can give US Michigan and maybe/probably Wisconsin, not sure about CO. Just don’t have any info about that state so far. Net rumors persist about Michele Obama’s “whitey” speech at womens group at Trinity! Any info here?

I live in Littleton Colorado and I can tell you that Marilyn Musgrave is correct. We love Mitt Romney in Colorado. My parents, very faithful democrats, are Romney supporters and will vote for McCain if he is on the ticket as vp. And you hear that from a lot of democrats here in Colorado. At caucus on super Tuesday the “buzz word” was Mitt Romney. He took 60% of the votes state wide. Plus, there are a lot of Mormons who live here too and many, many LDS churches in the Denver Metropolitan area. He has a lot of the evangelical vote here also. Marilyn Musgrave is an evangelical christian as I am also. Yes, Mitt Romney can give us the state of Colorado!! And I want him on the ticket this year. Now is the set time!!! John McCain has a very good chance of winning this election and if Mitt Romney is willing to take the risk with McCain as his vp choice, then so am I. Go Mitt!!!

The fact that a Romney pick for veep might just deliver CO, MI, and WI is just gravy! He could do that and it would be wonderful to flip those states red. But the best reason to pick Gov. Romney is that he is so capable. He is brilliant. He has conservative leadership in spades. He is presidential and keenly versed on important issues. He is a good role model for young people. Those are the reasons to choose Romney. The rest, the bringing in certain swing states, only makes him more appealing. I can think of no other rumored name on the short list that brings as much to the ticket.

Lee Ann I love to read post from evangelicals for Mitt. I’m LDS and I am grateful that evangelicals support Mitt. His business minded approach is fresh. He is a doer.
I would love to see Romney on the ticket. But if the republicans win will they have a successful 4 years or will things continue to flounder? Will that hurt Romney’s chances in 2012? Can America survive 4 years of Obama? I just wish Romney could be our nominee and then I would feel more hopeful. One thing is for sure Romney would bring the life and energy back to the McCain campaign. That would be fun. And I hear McCain does not like Romney and he holds grudges- WELL MR. MCCAIN YOU NEED TO HOLD YOUR NOSE AND PICK ROMNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets send that message- If McCain holds his nose and picks Romney we will hold our noses and pick McCain.

Fox News pundits are saying JM will go after Hillary’s independents and leave the conservative base behind. They think they know it all and this remains to be seen however if he thinks this way he will feel no need to pick Romney. McCain needs to read Lee Ann post. I think if Romney had not run out of time our country would have been thrilled with him as a candidate. It is because of the media we have the choices we have.
