Strong Superdelegate Backlash Growing Against Clinton

Some Democrats are privately expressing their anger towards Hillary Clinton because they believe she is trying to sabotage Barack Obama’s campaign in order to elect John McCain this
year and then for her to run again in 2012. The ruthless ambition of that woman is breath taking to observe. Let’s make sure we do everything in our power to keep the Democrats out of the White House in 2008!

Behind the scenes, there is now a very substantial anger growing among many senior Democrats and superdelegates towards Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) staying in the race while playing what many Democrats privately now believe is the race card.

The feeling is that the only reason Hillary remains in the race is to use certain remaining states to make the “working-class white” argument that many Democrats, a number of whom have been supporting Clinton, find deeply offensive.

This gives credence to those who believe that Hillary wants to elect Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) so she can run in 2012.

Byron York and Pat Buchanan have it right this morning in their respective articles. Buchanan says that the Clintons aren’t playing the race card, but the media and Obama supporters are playing the intimidation card in accusing her of racism. How else is Clinton to describe her coalition? She has the right to make the case that hers is a better coalition and in doing so it’s kind of hard to do that if she isn’t even allowed to point out working class whites.
Byron’s point is that it is because Hillary is so close that it is upsetting. Further, the eggheads don’t want to believe their candidate has a problem with working class whites, especially the Scots-Irish. Hillary utterly butchers that fantasy. Scroll over the detailed map at politico.com of the counties that border Kentucky. These are the most Scots-Irish of them all and she trounced Obama in them getting into the high 70’s and 80’s. Mingo county delivered an 88% to 8% victory to Clinton.
Back several months ago, Jonathan Martin on his blog talked about the Scots-Irish vote, in the context of both the GOP and Dems. One poster came along and said he was Scots-Irish and an Obama activist- declared it was rubbish to think Obama would have a problem with his group. It’s kind of neat to think I came upon such a rare specimen of voter.
Hillary is hated because she forces them to face the truth about who doesn’t love their Obamessiah and weakens the candidate the truly love.

Well said Emily. Hillary doesn’t need to play the race card. Barack did it himself when he made the “Guns and God” comment, sat in a pew for 20 years, and made no effort to correct his wife’s gaffes. 80% or more of exit voters last night said that race was an issue. That doesn’t mean they are “racists”, as the MSM is painting them. Frankly, middle-class, hard working whites (aka “those people” and “white folks”) aren’t getting any love from Obama.

Yes, it’s funny how Oboman has such an interesting “problem with” the Scots-Irish (a group that’s getting so uppity and on some kind of power trip that they no longer can accept the old moniker “Scotch Irish” (as tho an Irishman would ever drink Scotch!)…but uh…where was I….Oh yes, whether he has a problem with them (does he know about them yet?) …or whether they havea problem with him, I don’t know….but it’s funny no one ever talks about his “Irish problem” or his +Scotish problem”….I guess it means with those particular…or more particular, I guess they’d be…groups, he never had a problem. It’s just that when you mix a Scot with an Mik - an Irish fella sorry - something funny happens. You get these people (who are still white) that don’t like Obamas….or Obamas have a problem with them. In any case, it’s like oil and water. And of course, here’s where Hillary sees her opening. Well, I’m Scots-Irish now, tho I used to be Scotch-Irish in olden days, and it’s actually totally true….I do have a problem with Obama…tho I think he’d probably like ME.

But what I really wanted to get off my considerable chest today was to tell the world my latest idea: I think Obama is going to choose TED KENNEDY (who may actually be Scots=Irish!!) as his RUNNING MATE!…..He’s Obama Cheney….Mr. D.C> Establishment…..Mr. Experience…..Mr. Camelot Take One……Mr. Scots-Irish Problem Solved!!!!!! You definetly heard it here first kiddies!!!!!! He also meets McCain and calls him on the ageless issue!!

    oh yeah….GO MITT GO!!

By the way, I think this is the week McCain and Mitt set aside (you know, after the Houston tip-off) to scare rightwingers with the Ecofriendl/Huckadope rope-a-dope act. He knows we’re gonna scream bloody murder!….and the swing voters will breath a sigh of relief…..the Maverick is back (whew!)…..A few weeks pass…..Mitt rises again……falls back……right-wing howls at something else….a few weeks pass…..Mitt ries again….etc etc….until convention….and Mitt rises for the last time. Suckers!

In Copp’s mad mad world, you’d then have an election between Obamaman and John McCain at the top….and those two old rivals from Massachusetts….those comfortable old slick Establishment darlings of the Left and the Right…..the guys to go to if things get a little crazy out there in that big bad scary real world out there beyond the cloistered little fairy-tale world we enjoy, what with the rather - let’s just say rather “iffy” Obama/McCain choice as our likely nut- job presidents-to-be. Things start blowing up in our faces, we got these two old hands from Massachusetts right here, to calm it all down. Sounds about right, don’t it?

Well, if Obama picks Edwards, I can say I got it half right! You know….Edward Kennedy…?….What Moore do you want from me? (not much I’d imagine, at this point!)
