If we can hold McCain’s feet to the fire on SCOTUS nominations, we will have won half the battle.

John McCain promised on Tuesday to nominate conservative judges to the Supreme Court and for other judicial vacancies, seeking to quash doubts among some Republicans about his conservative credentials.

The Republican presidential candidate said he would use John Roberts and Samuel Alito, who were appointed to the Supreme Court by President George W. Bush, as his “model” when choosing nominees.

I’m not a one issue voter but if I was, this would be my issue. Preserve the intent of the constitution by putting originalists on the Supreme Court. That is where my heart is. I just might not be able to withhold my vote from McCain when he dangles such a conservative carrot in front of me. Its pretty enticing until you think about the times he yanked it away. Wait a minute! What am I thinking?

JM helped the gang of 14 get some judges confirmed, but how many are still waiting, and may never be confirmed. The dems are waiting for their turn to replace judge appointments of Bush’s that fall by the wayside. What good does it do to appoint conservative judges if we can’t get them confirmed? McCain was on the wrong side of the aisle on this one!

I don’t trust McCain on judges one bit. If elected he’ll be back to his modus operandi, pleasing liberals and the media. If he picks a conservative VP (a real one) I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he might change his ways a bit. Otherwise I’m not sold. He’ll be like Hillary except the Republicans in congress will be less likely to oppose his ideas.
