Just went to gopnation and posted a comment about Mitt. It was fun. I like to defend the right! pun intended!

I am proud of Mitt for getting this award. His talk was one of the best I have ever heard. It didn't take the media long to tear it apart. It is pretty sad that they are so spiritually defunct that they could not get the gist of that message. Says alot about them... I have never seen him not be eloquent! It is true, think about it. However, his "Religion in America" was one of his best. Inspiring and edifying.

What can I say more. America as a whole is not often outright wise.... KKSM

Haven't been over to GOPnation for a long time because it's so... well - LAME. Just checked there, however, and did see your comments, Paulee&Mike, and also enjoyed comments by MittFanInIdaho. I did vote for Mitt again, just because I could.

Found a link there that will interest the blogsters here (Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington’s "Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007 - Huckabee listed): http://www.judicialwatch.org/judicial-watch-announces-list-washington-s-ten-most-wanted-corrupt-politicians-2007

I hope Ann Romney has the opportunity to serve our nation as First Lady one day. In the meantime, I don't think she'd mind helping our country from the VP's residence at the Naval Observatory in the District of Columbia - as long as she could get away once in awhile to ride her beloved horses!

Back to the Canterbury Award for the Romneys - hope this receives national press attention. We should all take the time to email the news outlets (network TV, newspapers, blog sites) that this is worthy of air time and print space!

I just want to know who in our little circle will be attending this wonderful function for the Romney's??? Guess what ,some pictures of this event would be so great to see.
Ann and Mitt are such a lovely couple. Can't you just imagine her in the White House.
I understand she makes a mean pancake!!!!!!I know, they have a chef!!! I also know
she works with teens etc. to help them with self-esteem and lots our Mom's taught us,
if they valued home, family and what comes first. We talk so often of Mitt, I think she
has many attributes for being ready to serve this country, as a first lady. She's also
very attractive, Our own Barbie and Ken only they are Ann& Mitt. Just having some fun!

John, your statement is very well said: You should go over to gopnation.com and tell
them over there, they are vicious!!!! Be prepared for a landslide of Huck data. I"m needling them, just because they are so mean and I won't report the wonderful
evening we had with Mitt because they say they were sick of my gloating. However, I
told them Mccain's going left, it was said on the news. Asked how Huck would fit now
since he so much more conservative than Mitt, according to them! The notty in me, opps! Shame on me! It was fun though.

"Religious people and institutions are entitled to participate in public life on an equal basis with everyone else, and should not be excluded for professing their faith."

Pastor Huckabee and supporters, please commit the above sentence to memory.

F.Y.I.
From the Becket Fund website (http://www.becketfund.org/index.php):

[About Us]
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty is a Washington, D.C.-based public interest law firm protecting the free expression of all religious traditions. We are nonprofit, nonpartisan, and interfaith. The Becket Fund operates in three arenas: the courts of law (litigation), the court of public opinion (media), and in the academy (scholarship), at home and abroad (international).

[What Do We Believe?]

Freedom of religion is a basic human right that no government may lawfully deny; it is not a gift of the state, but instead is rooted in the inherent dignity of the human person. Religious expression (of all traditions) is a natural part of life in a free society, and religious arguments (on all sides of a question) are a normal and healthy element of public debate. Religious people and institutions are entitled to participate in public life on an equal basis with everyone else, and should not be excluded for professing their faith.

[Who Is Becket?]

The Becket Fund is named after Thomas à Becket (1118-70 AD), who stood resolutely at the intersection of Church and State. As a friend of King Henry II, Becket served as Chancellor of England and oversaw the laws of the kingdom. But as Archbishop of Canterbury, he steadfastly refused to allow the King to interfere in the affairs of the Church, and was martyred by the King's knights for defending the principle of religious liberty.

*Note: Kevin Seamus Hasson - President (attorney) of the Becket Fund - defended the Pledge of Allegiance (one nation under God...) before the Ninth Circuit Court in San Francisco in January of this year. A good read - see: http://www.becketfund.org/index.php/article/726.html?PHPSESSID=40a38fe7925f6de24ed00174ea71ed50

Mitt and Ann, you've deflected the "fiery darts" of bigotry with patience, grace, good works, and humor. You are examples of how we should act if we should face similar circumstances. You stand as a stark reminder that ultimately bigotry injures bigots. Just as the door of opportunity and enlightenment begins to creak open, bigots slam it shut. Consequently, prejudicial persecutors remain in a dark prison of their own making, controlled by fear.

Congratulations, Mitt and Ann, for your courage in serving our nation. You deserve this award!
