President Bush and Mitt Romney Coming to Utah

I am getting the impression that Gov. Romney is becoming the Party’s new rock star. The pace of his fund raising and public appearances seems to be picking up dramatically.

KSL News

President Bush and former presidential candidate Mitt Romney will be headed to Utah in hopes of raising money for Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

The two men are expected to attend a pair of private fundraisers at the end of next month.

All of the money raised will go to the Republican National Committee, which is largely responsible for funding McCain’s campaign.

President Bush and Romney are not likely to make a public appearance while in the state.

Romney has become the GOP favorite. I believe the leaders of the party are rallying around him to promote him for the 2012 race. They certainly are putting the pressure on John McCain to put him on the ticket this year as vp. Why not? He has paid his dues to become one of the main players and the leader of the republican party and onto the president of the United States. He knows how to be gracious and put aside his own desires for the good of the party and the country. Plus he is qualified, qualified, and more qualified!! That is why he is the new rising star in the GOP!! GO MITT!!

I can’t help but notice that Mitt Romney has gone beyond talking the talk. He is walking the walk. HE isn’t constantly bringing up the VP position, others are. I honestly believe that he would be just as happy NOT getting the VP position as getting it. Either way, he is actively helping his party win.

Contrast his behavior with his former rivals:

Rudy has essentially disappeared. He shows up on the occasional talk show, but his biggest claim to fame post-Florida is McCain pitching for people to help retire his Debt.

Fred has disappeared, as well. I did see where he has gone to one or two rallies/fundraisers, but that is about it.

Huckabee is trying his best to remain relevant, but it just isn’t working. The man has little class, for one thing. He is still taking cheap shots at Mitt long after the race is done. (Apparently this Christian Leader has never read the Golden Rule.) Even John McCain has been trying to let bygones be bygones. Not Huckabee. His petty little games just serve to isolate him further. He is also attempting to set up a PAC for conservatives, but it remains little more than a name on a paper. He had great difficulty raising money when he was running. Does he really think he can raise money when he is not running?

    Mitt, we miss you.

Don’t be dismayed, my husband says they all say they don’t expect to get that call
for vp. I guess we just have to wait it out. It is hard, he surely looks and acts so Presidential. Please leave your notes on post well wishes for Ann and Gov. Romney.
I’ll pull them on May 2 at approx. 3pm. Thanks everyone.

I just read that McCain Favors a ‘League of Democracies’ at the following link:

I KNOW this one of Mitt’s foreign policy ideas. He called it the second phase to attacking radical jihad. It looks like there is absolutely no doubt that Mitt and/or his advisors are influencing John McCain.

I have been following with interest the local news outlets about the upcoming visit here in the Salt Lake area. I wish I could figure out some way to see Mitt without having to tell someone that I would love to contribute if only Mitt were on the ticket with Mr McCain. . . . sigh.

I heard Mitt also tell Sean Hannity to not put any money on him being on the ticket with McCain…. I was kind of sad, but I too maintain that if he stood around saying “ooo, ooo, I hope he picks me, pick me, pick me…” that he would look just very very silly! So, it looks better to deny. I don’t think there has been any deal struck either because he is an honest guy and I cannot see him lying about it to us for all these weeks and now months….

    What say ye???

  7. Chris Says:

It would be folly for Mitt to say he was the veep choice. Although I think McCain should announce very soon, I also know McCain is a strange cookie, and does things his own way, at his own pace. He always wants to appear to be ‘above’ it all. (Fla and VA, anyone?) If Mitt were to say he’s the guy, and NOT McCain, I think McCain would say “no he’s not.” and move away from Mitt.

But it is starting to look like Mitmass. The dude is everywhere, and is like the everyready bunny. He just keeps going and going and going. Of all of the former candiates, and any ‘on the list’ he’s the most visiable. Take it for what it’s worth. At least he’s daily in the headlines. Even more so than McCain.

Bush will be a real help, did you see the latest?

  9. Tami Says:

I don’t get how these polls work really. No one’s ever asked me if I’ve approved or disapproved of Bush. He’s definitely made his share of mistakes but overall I approve of him. I think he’s a good, decent and honest man who loves his country. I’m sorry to see his favorability drop down so low but how do they REALLY KNOW?

  10. KKSM Says:

I agree with you Tami. I think when seen through the prism of history, Bush will be seen for the good man that he is. I think personally that the American people have been lied to so much about him that the damage has been done… I FEEL FOR HIM AND I PRAY FOR HIM….
