Big-time Republican contributors are complaining that prospective presidential nominee John McCain is poorly organized for the campaign and off to a bad start in raising money.
McCain begins well behind Democrat Barack Obama in the 2008 money derby, and longtime Republican givers say there is no coherent plan for catching up and getting ahead. The bright spot for McCain in the opinion of the GOP money men is the presence in his campaign of New York investment banker Lew Eisenberg, an experienced Republican fund-raiser. Eisenberg, a pro-choice social liberal who has often contributed to Democrats, was attacked by conservatives when he came on board with McCain in 2007. When McCain clinched the nomination, Eisenberg was sent to the Republican National Committee as victory finance chairman.
In another article further down on the same page some Mitt Romney news.
McCain for guns
Sen. John McCain, continuing to mend his right-wing fences, will do something next month that George W. Bush never has done during 7½ years as president: attend a National Rifle Association event.
McCain plans to be in Louisville, Ky., on May 16 for the NRA’s ”Celebration of American Values.” Also on hand will be two of McCain’s defeated rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.
The NRA gave McCain a mediocre C-plus rating in 2004, but since then his pro-gun voting record as a senator has been 100 percent. While some activists in the gun-ownership movement are still suspicious of McCain, his voting is vastly better than that of his two Democratic opponents, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton. Each is graded F by the NRA.

NO MITT, NO MONEY, NO MCCAIN
Keep sending the message

McCain, Crist, Graham are hijacking the republican party to move the party left with the help of the Huck supporters. And now McCain is in bed with a NY liberal. This is just great. It is like McCain does not even care if conservatives send money. If he can’t keep his campaign on track how will he ever help AMERICA????????? He has proven time and time again that he is not loyal to conservatives. We really do not have a choice this year. And even though McCain may reflect some of our values it is going to be really hard to support him.
Renna I hope that message is hitting home but it is almost like McCain is to incompetent to care.

Now, we know the Huck folks donate in single and low two digit figures, oh yes, and that’s because they don’t have any money. Okay, we also know that Romney raised
more money, not his own now, raised through donations etc.I know that if Mitt were added to the ticket money would flow. There is no excitement or hope, Huck won’t do it
for him. The only people I here mention him, is his supporters.
Remember the gang of 14. Think about what they were up to, Mit 10, I agree, so a handful of polititians are able to change the course of this country?????? It’s getting more upsetting by the minute!!!!!!!! I heard yesterday, Cindy who is muti- millionaire
loaned Mccain money!!!!!!!! If what you say is true in your first sentence, we are lost!!!
Not only did we loose the best person for this enormous job, we are losing our country
and our standards that our fore father’s intended. With all the filth, killings, drugs, breakdown of family values, it looks like they all win. Lets just turn the other cheek
and let the cheat’s have their way. Totally disheartened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, how about that Nevada GOP convention hijacked by the Ron Paulites? There are probably a lot more people around this country dissatisfied with McCain than we suspect.

Wouldn’t it be something if this kind of thing gained momentum around the nation up to a convention where Romney steps in help clear things up and secures the nomination? I guess it would help if McCain’s well disguised (for some) dementia to become public knowledge to complete the deal.

Regarding the National Rifle Association event in Louisville on May 16th:
McCain’s mediocre rating from the NRA in 2004 to his “gung ho” posistion today is a major conversion flip-flop concerning the right that Americans are entitled to keep and bear arms. For all the characterizsations that McCain makes of himself as a “straight shooter” juxtaposed against all his accusations that Romney was a flip-flopper… what a cunning, duplicitous old man.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall when John, Mike, and Mitt are on the same stage at this event; the two snickering dopes and genuine good guy - Mitt Romney. Huckabee will fire off a few goofy pot-shots meant to minimize Mitt, and McCain will tire of his new presidential stance - standing on tip-toes next to Romney!
On another note, at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner (Washington D.C. Saturday, April, 26) President Bush delivered a few funny lines:
“I have to say I’m kind of surprised we don’t have more presidential candidates here tonight. Like, any. Sen. (John) McCain’s not here, he probably wanted to distance himself from me a little bit… Jenna’s leaving me, too,” joked Bush about the presumptive Republican nominee.
“The two Democratic candidates aren’t here either,” Bush continued. “Sen. (Hillary) Clinton couldn’t get to the building because of sniper fire, and Sen. (Barack) Obama’s at church.”
And, later on, (Pam Anderson was in attendance) “I love the mix of crowds here,” said Bush. “Pamela Anderson and Mitt Romney in the same room. Isn’t that one of the signs of the apocalypse?”
Romney’s moral, clean living is a reputation that can’t be bought with all the money in the world!
