Romney takes swipes at ‘elitist’ Obama
(CNN) — In a sign he’s comfortable playing the attack dog for John McCain’s presidential campaign, Mitt Romney issued stinging criticisms of Barack Obama Friday, calling the Illinois senator a “quintessential politician.”
“He, in the debate, made a number of promises that he cannot possibly deliver — populist approaches that sound good to the public but that are counter to the growth and strength of our economy and the well-being of our nation,” Romney, who abandoned his own presidential bid in February, told the National Journal.
In an apparent reference to Obama’s recent comments calling some small town Americans “bitter,” Romney also said the Democratic presidential candidate has “subscribed fully to the kind of elitist view of America that has long characterized those of the most liberal persuasion in our country.”
“So I think what’s happening is that people are getting a better sense about Barack Obama,” Romney continued. “They didn’t know who he was… but now we’re getting a better view of Barack Obama as the — not just the liberal, but the political liberal that he is.”
Romney was a fierce critic of John McCain when the two were primary rivals, though he has since repeatedly praised McCain and indicated his willingness to serve as the Arizona senator’s running mate.

Here in Northeast Ohio, the county Republican party has a VP poll going at http://www.cuyahogacountygop.com/poll.asp .
April 19th, 2008 at 2:43 am
I feel ever more confident in Mitt as the VP - I haven’t heard of Huckabee, Graham, or Lieberman anywhere. I look forward to an announcement in the following 2 months or before…

Thanks for the heads up on that poll, Gail, we have to all get over there Romney is in 3rd place, pass it on folks. Let’s all VOTE!!!!!!!!
KKSM: I wrote you a nice note, but it would’nt go, I even forwarded it to the Committedtoromney site, top 10 reasons, didn”t go . How did you get me your message, I’m not very experienced on this computor stuff.
Have a great day!
April 19th, 2008 at 8:05 am
Once again the reason why Huckabee is in the lead in the Ohio poll is because it allows you to vote more than once!
April 19th, 2008 at 8:47 am
THAT’S REALLY A USELESS POLL THAN, I PREFER THE ONES THAT TRACK, JUST
BETTER TO BE HONEST, TYPICAL OF SOME PEOPLE’S HABITS IN THIS ELECTION SEASON. OH WELL, MITT MAY STILL WIN!

Paulee, I am not sure exactly what you are talking about. A testament to my own inexperience with some of this stuff. I did write a note on site about seeing your name on a comment in the Deseret news. Did you also get a notification that I wrote in here? I don’t have your address so I didn’t write you a personal one. I would, but I don’t know how to get it without jeopardizing your privacy. I did think it was fun to see someone I [kind of] know on that comment. The only thing I can even remotely guess is the perhaps you checked the “email me” notification located right behind the “submit comment” box… That is the most sense I can make of it.
I would enjoy a nice note I am sure. KKSM

Hey, check this out, it is pretty interesting it is about the odds of different people getting the vp nod…
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/04/19/political-oddsmakers-weigh-in-on-republican-vp-derby/
If this link doesn’t work, just go on the front page of foxnews.com and look down on the main stories to where it says something like “pollsters weigh odds in vp derby”
Have fun…. KKSM

KKSM : the link worked fine, and it was fun. Iv’e heard Ridge is for pro-choice and
Condi Rice is also. That leaves Pawlenty and Romney, Pawlenty has not been vetted,
that could be a situation?????
This is what happened, I went to look at our E-mails and it said Committedtoromney,
KKSM, when we clicked on that, up came your message. I’m fine with it. I just could’nt
figure out how it got on the e-mail. It was the same message you left on one of these
sites. I’ve enjoyed our chatting back and forth.
I wanted you to know that I’m using the name Lisa at Coulter’s site, along with Paulee
and Micheal. They get angry with me, oh well, gotta do what ya gotta do!!!!!!

Funny, Mitt continually and publicly expresses his interest in serving as McCain’s running mate, and yet no one seems to be asking him. Sounds like the last kid left at recess, “Pick me! Pick me!”
And he levels these accusations about Barrack Obama being such a politician, when Mitt so vehemently attacked McCain and now so openly professes an overt desire to run with him. Yeah, he’s straight forward (read with sarcastic tone inflection).

Paulee,
WE are so funny!!! I told you I use alternate names. I was raised in Tennesee!!! (that’s a hint!) Do you live in the Salt Lake area or were you just lurking on D-News? I actually do live here.
I enjoyed your above comment. I agree with the things you said about Ridge and I know that is true about Condi. I have really liked her and I respect her. However, I was elated when she said she was out! I was so happy!!! I am just so prayerful about Mitt!!! Let me correct myself. I am prayerful about and for my country and entreating God if Mitt might be the answer to that concern. I always feel so good about Mitt. I am trying to figure out how to get to our Republican convention dinner. I really would like to go because Mitt’s son Josh is going to be there and speak at it. I met him when I campaigned for Mitt, he is a really sweet young man. A chip off the old block I guess.
I would love to go to that. I am trying to figure it all out. KKSM

HI, no I live in Mainely yours, Maine. I have never been so passionate about politics in my lifetime. I just thought when I saw our options, heard the debates, I KNEW IN MY
GUTT MITT WAS THE RIGHT PERSON AT THIS CRITICAL TIME. I was worried about Obama, but now as his truths unfold, again my gutt tells me , no way!!!!!!!!!You keep working on that dinner, you’ll get there. Didn’t you work on the phones
for them??? Here’s what happened to us, Tag came with little son Joe. to Lewiston,
Maine. We met them at a little restaurant for the first time, then they came back and
Tag spoke at our Maine caucus. The room was overflowing, everyone loved and pretty
much voted for Mitt.Senator Snow was there lobbying for Mccain big time. Anyhow, we
had several conversations with Tag and Joe, I sent them off to Rockland with donuts
and coffee. They were all over the state that weekend, and of course Mitt won by 52%. Huck got 6% here, Mccain 22% that’s when we got on the bandwagon, and you know the rest of the story. Little Joe calls Mitt his PaPa, cute.
They have a wonderful, quality family. Someones done something right.
Best of luck , you’ll figure out the dinner.

Paulee,
Have you ever been to one of those dinners? I am really wanting to see if I can shift my life around a bit and get there. It sounds interesting and kind of fun… Gee, I used to think politics was just boring, but I am feeling differently now.
Yes, I did work the phones and it was tons of fun. I like that little Joe calls Mitt Papa. I think that is sweet and you are right. They have done lots of things right! KKSM

KKSM,
Is the dinner in your town? It seems to me a person that worked for the campaign should have some priority. Who can you contact? You have to go! Your very loyal
and deserve to go. I’m pulling for you. No, I haven’t been to one of those dinners, but I also would love to go. Maybe if something great happen ( LIKE MITT BEING VP)
AND THEY HAVE SOMETHING IN PORTLAND, MAINE) I WOULD TRY TO GO.
I’LL WORK PHONES WHATEVER, IF MCCAIN & ROMNEY ARE ON THE TICKET TOGETHER.
What town do you live in? It’s fun but worriesome at the same time, this political stuff.
Well, we shall see who wins between Clinton abd Obama tomorrow.
Take care, Paulee

Paulee:
You are right!!! I should get priority because I sat and worked on the phones for hours and hours!!! Yes, it is just blocks from my house and I live in the Salt Lake City area. I have to decide if I want to pay for it or if my husband can get us in for the less price because he has something to do with the delegate thing; he is the precinct chair. I just have to figure it all out. I want to go and I am usually good at wrangling something! Time will tell.
Man, I am just like you, I have already committd myself to work for the campaingn if he sees fit to put Romney on the ticket with him. I am kind of annoyed at myself. Today, Huckabee was on Fox and friends and I didn’t even watch it. I just changed the station. They did the typical tease thing about him working with McCain for a week or so campaingning. I just got kind of sick to my stomach as they teased “is a VP spot in the offing?” or some such silly thing. Argh!!!!
Yes, Politics is worrisome. I think Clinton will win tomorrow. I am not crazy about McCain, but even she doesn’t hold a candle to him, well, maybe a birthday candle for a small cake… I am being obnoxious tonight!

Romney is a great man, but personally I don’t think it is his time yet. McCain can be very stubborn. This election is one of the craziest I have ever seen.
KKSM obnoxious? ppl in rural America are bitter, so they cling to their guns and Bibles. Oh please, how ludicrous. I like in a state that is a hunting state, and very conservative. Obama is not the man he potrays himself to be. Romney is a good man, and he will get there eventually.
From a happy hunting, church going state. : )

Lvn Salt Lake don’t be hasty . Sometimes glitches happen here. It is really a wonderful site to post on and it is fun. Alot of like minded people here and really a good bunch. I have never had a problem, but I know it happens sometimes. Just give the powers that be a chance. We welcome you.
Thanks for commenting to me. Your comment gets on so fast, that I don’t think anyone reads them before they get there because I don’t know anyone that reads that fast… ha! Don’t go away just yet, we need you…
