Renna,
You wrote that I should express “gratitude” for the fact that Mitt stood in front of the legislature with the people to support marriage between a man and a woman?

Now Renna, I don’t believe you are an unloving person, but for saying I should be “grateful” that Romney tried to strip rights away from families is really down right incomprehensible.

First off, “the people” you refer to are the “over the top” religious kind, I was there, I saw them. We need to end the use of religion to justify bigotry and discrimination, not embrace it. The “majority” of Massachusetts citizens are fine with same-sex marriage The most recent Massachusetts poll, in April 2007; found that 56 percent of those surveyed would oppose the amendment. Romney wasn’t listening to “the people” he did this for higher political gain, that’s it (fact link #1 listed below)

I hope that if you had a son or daughter that was gay, in a long loving relationship with or without kids, that you Renna, would want them to have the same protections that you and your husband have/had. I would never want my child to have less rights then I…. I would die in order to protect them from the ones who got in the way, I hope you would too.

If you really feel strongly about marriage, you should look at doing something about the divorce rate, the US’s divorce rate is near 50%, while countries that allow same-sex couples to wed are considerably lower (I listed the facts below – link 2 & 3) – It’s also very ironic that the very state that allows same-sex marriage also is the one with the fewest divorces in the country (fact link #4)

Johnny,

It will be helpful if you read a little more about Romney’s positions. Romney has always and still does support equal rights for all people (including gays). He made this statement in one of the debates. The difference is, he never supported gay marriage and fought long and hard against it. I was working in Boston during the time this controversy was happening. Romney did everything in his power to stop the marriage ruling in Mass.

I agree with Romney on this fact. No one should be discriminated against.
However marriage is NOT a right. Not everyone gets married even if they want to be married. There are many legal limitations on who can marry, including relatives and age.

I agree with Romney on this issue and I believe he has a complete understanding of the issues around it.

I think Mitt Romney is an ideal role model for the traditional marriage argument. Oh that all wives were treated as decently and with as much dignity and respect as Ann Romney, y'know? Go see the you tube clip on Romney leading the rally against gay marriage. I got so pumped over that show of raw political courage! I am one of the many still stunned that there wasn't an overwhelming movement to get Romney in as CEO of America, his qualifications are head and shoulders above the other candidates. I think he honestly reflects what I hope and believe is America's tradition of competence and conservatism. I'm trying to let it all go at this point, but it's hard when you're a patriot and you want the best for your country.

To Johnny,

First of all this is a private blog, we are not the government. We have the right to censor anything we want. Even so, we don't do choose to do so, and never have done so - except once or twice with hecklers.

Your comments are not being censored. There are certain words that will cause the spam filter to hold comments in moderation until an admin can verify that they are indeed not spam, but a legitimate comment. Your's was, and has been approved.

In this video it is quoted that Romney said that he would do more to promote gay rights then Senator Kennedy.

All citizens deserve “equal rights” regardless of their sexual orientation - Here it is in print, an actual flyer that his team passed out during a Boston Gay Pride Parade.

I grow weary of it all. I could list all the ways Mitt fought to protect marriage above and beyond any hukster. I could show how at the same time he defended legitimate true civil rights of gay people. Homosexuals do not have the right to change the definition of marraige. If you start redifining marraige where does it end. Intamcy between a sex changed male and his/her woman and thier grown love child. Three woman and thier dog. Where?
Rusty has it right. If you are not careful you spend the rest of your life running behind the moron who writes bad things about your candidate on bathroom walls.

I just wonder if "reading between the lines" as Johnny K says, is much different than what McCain did to come up with his "timetable" comment about Mitt. Reading between the lines=taking out of context=making stuff up. We should practice reading "the" lines, not between them.

Johnny:

Please, you are not being censored. Our system tends to go haywire and sometimes even fails to post MY comments. Look, you have a different viewpoint and I support that and like that you do have a different viewpoint. I wish you were on my side, but you aren't. I could present to you the facts about Governor Romney or any other candidate for that matter and in a perfect world, you would say "yeah, I like him he has done good'.

But, unfortunely, we don't live in a perfect world and personal perception is above all the thing that chooses presidents. Now, I hear platitudes uttering from your posts. But, no citation. I beg of you my friend, please show me video or transcripts of Governor Romney saying what he is saying.

Rusty:

I do not believe he is trying to change our minds. But I am glad he is a critic of Mitt because I for one am tired of the lies surrounding Governor Romney. It's always good to have a nice spirited debate.

As I said, we can present you facts and references to Governor Romney's positions or governing style but you will not, even confronted with proof, support Governor Romney. Nonetheless, even if you do decide that the fallacies you say are false, then you might not even support him; and there is nothing wrong with that. I just wish that people like you, I refer in terms of disliking a candidate, spreading lies that simply aren't true.

I commend you Johnny because you have the ability to come on a board and dispute Governor Romney's record. We need more people like you Johnny, so we can show them how wrong and distorted the view of Governor Romney really is.

Kind Regards Johnny :)

Johnny, relax you are not being censored; it is not a conspiracy. I just wish that you could respect our right to support whatever candidate we choose, just like we respect your right to support or not support whomever you choose. You can hang out here and post all you want; I just don't see the point in you trying to convince us to change our minds. I wouldn't attempt to try to change your opinion of Governor Romney's past or present positions. I don't need you to agree with me; and you don't need us to agree with you. Anyway, have a good night.

Steve if I may chime in, during Mitts run for Massachusetts Senate he (Romney) said he was more liberal towards same-sex issues than Ted Kennedy. Read between the lines – many living in the great state of Mass voted / supported him based on that.

The article on crosswalk.com was sent to me. It 'warns" about Mitt as Vp. It's very mean-spirited & attacks his record while Governor of Mass. . No one has posted any comments so far. I wonder why. Next time I see this site or WND-WorldNetDaily, I will delete, delete, delete. I don't care for this type of attacks on my candidate or on any person who is a Christian and loves the USA.

David:

You are wrong; Governor Romney has never wanted same sex couples to wed.

What has Governor Romney done? The only 'flip' he has done is on abortion; prove me wrong.

Rusty:
Let's talk in private Bud - I'll email you :)

McCain-Mitt 2008!
I'll be back. I need to reread an article I read earlier today which was not pro-Romney.

Rusty, you write:
The people that are protesting Mitt Romney becoming VP are the minority. Many of them are religious bigots

Rusty, it is Romney who is dying by his own sword! Mitt was the bigot Govonor that tried desperately (in order to appeal to the national conservative base) to strip civil rights away from couples that wanted nothing more than to protect their love and assets. These are the same couple he supported a few years earlier.
Rusty you also write;
Haters and detractors have no business in our minds, and should only cause us to examine our own priorities and attitudes

Rusty I couldn’t agree with you more, I only wish you would see that the man you support is in that same category.
