Please Let the Writers of the Anti-Mitt Petition Know What You Think
I have already posted the link to the anti-Mitt petition; however, I want to make sure everyone is aware that you have the option to write comments to Sen. McCain, and to select that you are willing to vote for an “M&M” ticket. There are already many pro-Romney comments.
If you wish to sign the petition and indicate that you are willing to vote for Governor Romney click here.
Update: the following has been posted on the anti-Mitt site
ADVISORY: Romney supporters are signing this petition against him using false e-mail addresses in order to leave comments critical of this group. They have signed an anti-Romney petition to make a pro-Romney statement! The practice is as two faced as the man they follow!
I don’t know what brought about the false e-mail charge; but It is apparent that we have struck a chord.

Ok,
Before you get your hopes up, they are suppressing submission at this site. My pro Romney contribution is already gone.
However, if we keep flooding with pro Romney positions, they won’t be able to keep up, and your post will be available for at least 5 minutes.
Good luck.

Well, it looks like VIC figured it out. Just vote for Romney with NO comment. His is one of the few pro-Romney signatures that remain.
What a shining example of free speech. I just love Huck’s supporters: There is only ONE point of view, and we’ll consider no other…
For you old hands of this blog, you know that no such Tom-Foolery goes on here.

Make sure you keep posting to this. It loads the last page first. All the detractors have to do is hide out like an Iragi insurgent hoping for a democratic president to surrender and prematurely pull our troops, then they can sweep in and inundate the last few pages with pro-huck, anti-romney blather.
Yea, who’s more committed, people? I’m ComMITTed to Mitt…
April 4th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
This Huck propaganda has backfired. The comments so far support Romney.
Brody said these were “big” names. http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/351354.aspx Brian Carmenker, Gary Glenn, and Wildmon are big names now. This group has contributed little to nothing. They have done more to drive the Republican Party into the ground than the opposition could ever hope to accomplish.

Yeah, my comment sure vanished quickly. So much for free speech.

Have you guys thought of getting your own petition out. How about you get your own pro-Romney petition going. It will be great to have people who support this idea to sign our petition instead of signing a petition that is against the idea.

Used another email, and didn’t leave a comment…let’s see if that stays.

I can’t get through. Rick Santorom just spoke as the headline on Fox said people would stay away from the polls if Romney is chosen for V.P. Rick stated this is Huckerbee’s people. I’ve always known Huck was jealous of Mitt. This just makes me so angry, if he Huck doesn’t get the nod , he ‘ll be sure Mitt doesn’t get it either!!!
Huck was alone with Mccain in Texas Primary and did terrible. Get a lifeand act like
a preacher, if you can. Do unto others etc. Angry, really angry. Mitt must be a real
threat, huh??? Huck’s tax record stinks, and judgement about that parden deal
showed lack of character!!!!!!True conservative???????????

Can we band together and put a pro Romney poll, not a mention of Huck, keep it positive, no threats about not voting if it’s Huck. That’s honest politics, we the people
speak for our man Mitt??? We have to do something. Thanks?????
Mainely yours
April 4th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Please put together a poll for Romney for VP.
I am sick of the hateful comments and bigoted actions of Mike Huckabee and his supporters. As a Christian, I am ashamed of them. Imagine, a man like him so full of hate and jealousy as President or VP of this country - yee gads, what has happened to this country??????
April 4th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Thanks Rusty!!!! I’m e-mailing to friends!!!!! Let’s all do our part to let all know
about your poll!!!!!
Renna: It’s greed, personal ambition, jealousy, not sure about hate, but sure he
is a preacher I’d have leading me in my life NOT for a minute.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again, Rusty !!!!!!!

Alot has been happening today. As I stated after I signed the petition, I have sent a sample letter stating that I am in favor of a McCain-Romney ticket in order to unite the Republican Party to Senator McCain. I also faxed it to my two US Senators.
YesMittVp2008!!

Huckabee would almost get along with Jeremiah Wright.

This wasn’t a blog; it was a petition. Look, this isn’t about freedom of speech - it’s a false signature on a legitimate petition. The ones who run the petition have every right to take off false signatures. I can’t believe you’re calling them slimy for taking off false signatures, but you’re not calling yourself slimy for falsely signing it in the first place. You Romney guys are real jobs. I’m a Huckabee supporter. I’ve never seen anything like this in my camp.
I’ll admit that I don’t want Mitt anywhere near the Presidency. So, I gladly signed the petition to keep him off the ticket. But, I’m pragmatic about it. McCain needs a great choice. Romney would not be a great choice, but he might be a barely acceptable one. Even though I’m a Huckabee supporter, I’m actually leaning more towards someone like Marsha Blackburn or Jim DeMint for VP. The VP choice needs to be brilliant. Mitt’s not a brilliant choice, but no matter who it is, we all need to back whomever it happens to be, even (ugh) Mitt.
I’m not for McCain - I’m against Hillary/Obama

Any question what is wrong with the Republican Party? This group of goof-balls is worse than anything the Democrats have ever fielded. It is like the mid-90’s with Democrats Underground posters. When look at Michigan and Glenn and the rest, they have done more to drive the Republican Party into the ground than Democrats could ever hope to accomplish. What I find offensive is taking serious ethical conversations and twisting them to support really poor, niche, career politicans like Mike Huckabee and Sam Brownback. United States needs good leaders.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:01 am
No, Matt, the petition asks:
“Would you vote for a McCain / Romney ticket?
Absolutely not
I would consider it
I would vote for McCain/Romney ”
What is false is your irrational nonsense. Mike Huckabee is one of the worst politicans to ever do his song and dance. He changed his positions week by week from immigratrion to taxes to crime.

mikeVA,
The explicit face of the poll, that you signed, said (and I quote), “We call upon you to reject any consideration of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney as a Vice Presidential running mate. ”
If you signed it, then gave comments supporting Romney, you signed it falsely. A petition is not a debate forum or a blog. If you don’t support it, don’t sign it. Get your own, which apparently you have done.
I would just say that if my support of Romney depended upon the actions advocated by this website, my opposition to Mitt Romney would have harded into outright defiance of him.
I signed the anti-Mitt petition largely because of this website’s incredibly wacko attitude towards it.
Regardless of my thoughts of Mitt or your thoghts of Mike Huckabee, we need to rally around winning the presidency. Neither of our guys won. So, if McCain picks Romney as his VP, I will hold my nose a little tighter and still vote for him (albeit very reluctantly). And if McCain picks Huckabee, you guys need to hold your nose a little tighter and vote for him.
We all ought to stop squabbling. We both lost to McCain, now lets keep Barack or Hillary out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
But don’t sign our petition falsely. I didn’t sign yours falsely
April 5th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Matt P.,
Heh, heh, (head shaking). Why is my signature false? Just because I don’t agree with the premise of the petition? Do we always have to agree? Aren’t you really telling us that if we disagree you, it’s false witness? That’s the argument of a simpleton.
I do confess that I used a second email address to get the second “signature” to stick then encouraged everyone else to do the same? All this for my straight forward contribution “sure, I’d vote for Romney, don’t pay heed to the naysayers”. Granted, other Romney supporters are more vehement, but I’m gratified to see them eloquently espouse Romney’s past successes, well considered policy positions, and overwhelming qualifications (isn’t that what we really need in a VP anyway?), nothing like the veiled attacks on Romney’s religion that you see from the other side and which is the basis of this petition drive and it’s associated ad.
What sets this “petition” apart from others is it allows us to voice a dissenting opinion, whereas a typical petition drive only allows you to support the premise. With a typical petition, 2,000 in 100,000 people may agree, but you only hear from the 2,000 on one side: some call that a squeaky wheel or vocal minority. With this petition, they’ve opened it up to contrarian viewpoints, and suppression of these submissions is abject close-mindedness. Don’t worry, none of us are naive enough to think that any of our opposing signatures in support of Romney collected in this signature drive will ever be presented to McCain. Like my first vote, that has already been suppressed, the final pruned list of 2,000 will have the final , lopsided and misrepresented say.
Now for the statement “I’ve never seen anything like this in the Huckabee camp…” Huh? How much time did you spend on the Huckabee for President website and wilfing through all the “informative” links that it included? It was an incessant stream of virulent hate directed at Romney. So consider this: Huckabee and his supporters preach a similar brand of hate as the Reverend Jeremiah White, and it’s no different than the sectarian intolerance between the Shiites and the Sunnis in Iraq. Judge for yourself if a Huckabee zealot’s behavior is remotely Christian, and when you come to the same conclusion as most of the rest of us, you’ll have a great case study for the entry under hypocrite in the dictionary. I’m proud to report that most of my Evangelical friends in Minnesota saw Huckabee for what he was: a smooth talking, self-serving, manipulative charlatan (like the other man from Hope), and resoundingly rejected him as such (false hope). (I’ll add the North Star state has an excellent public school system, and in general a well educated and informed electorate).
So is it false witness to properly label this “petition” as a revival of the Huckabee for President campaign now retooled as Huckabee for Vice President, using the same old cast of characters, and using the same old tactic of character assassination?
Thanks for the drive by, though, Matt. Unlike other blogs (ahem, petitions), your dissenting opinions are always welcome here if not for the same reason people are so enamored with Jessica Simpson (can anyone really be that stupid?). Like her, your illogical and uninformed rantings are equally and always entertaining.
April 5th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Wow, last night I checked and there were over 15 pages of signatures, and over 50% of them were pro Romney.
Now it is back down to 9 pages, and only 2 out of every 50 remaining signatures per page are for Romney, and those are the most tepid and tame. All the inflammatory belly fire is reserved for those voting against Romney. That’s interesting.
As proof, I offer this: last night there was a post on page 7 that caused a formatting change (someone started by saying “Jeepers………” with a lot more periods). My second post was after that one, and this post caused all the ensuing posts to stretch wide as well. That post (and my second too, by the way) is now gone, but the formatting glitch remains, on page 4. So nearly 50% of the submissions have been removed, and of those removed, none that selected option 1.
So, as much fun as this might be, this is an ultimately futile exercise. Matt and his gang are as close-minded as ever.
Oh, I’ll also draw your attention to “votes” 197 and 198 by Osi on page 4 (this may change, as they continue to weed out entries). Here we have two votes, two email addresses, same person, both railing against Mitt. And Matt tries to make me feel bad for trying (and failing) to stuff the ballot box twice in an attempt to keep one vote? (Oh, but “I’ve never seen that in my camp”?). You see what you want to see, my dear Matt.
Vote rigging on this “petition” is as easy as an election in Zimbabwe. (Heh, heh, head shaking.) This has been a fun Saturday diversion, though. It’s fun to hang out with people that pay attention to details and don’t like having the wool pulled over our eyes. Reminiscent of old times.
April 5th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Matt, I agree with you that we need to rally around winning the presidency for a Republican and that we may have to hold our nose and vote for McCain and whoever he picks as VP. But, my question is, why would you not promote who you think would be a good VP instead of feeling the need to just tear down another possible running mate? I don’t understand the negative tone you take against others which seems to occupy your time more than just building up your choice of Huckabee? You don’t see Romney supporters putting all their efforts into running Huckabee down. Instead we highlight the strengths that Romney has. Can you not find enough good in Huckabee to talk about that you instead trash others to bring them down to the level of your candidate? Sorry, I just don’t understand your tactics. Can you explain?
McCain/Romney in 2008!
April 5th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
We reported this vote no for romney site as being of question as to how they are
representing themselfs. Why can’t Hucks people realize sometimes things don’t
work out the way we want them too. Is it Christian to tear others down to elevate
your hopeful? Learn to play fair, maybe you’ll be rewarded. These deeds are not going
unnoticed. My God is watching. You have to look yourselves in the mirror. I’d suggest
getting off Romney’s back, he’s already been vetted. I can’t believe the TRASH you call
yourself christian’s have put in newspapers. We Romney supporters will not stoop
to that level of hate!!!!!!!! But don’t for one minute think that we will lay down and play dead. Rick Santorum has already spoken out on Fox stating this is Huck supporters, your just making yourselves look like loosers.Your just making Romney’s
name more popular.I’m getting really tired of telling you that Romney was way more
popular, more talented, better debater, and isn’t hung up about money, raised more
than anyother candidate, and looks so much more Presidential than any one in either
race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Won delegates second to Mccain, 11 states to Mccain’s 13, and
won the debates.. These are facts, notice Iv’e hurt no one.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Matt, I don’t understand that you can’t see that the “Petition” you are signing is more like a poll.
“Would you vote for a McCain / Romney ticket?
A) Absolutely not
B) I would consider it
C) I would vote for McCain/Romney ”
That is how it is worded. Go ahead and look again at the petition. We are not making this up. That is how it is worded.
April 6th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
McCain MUST select Romney or Condoleeza Rice, in my opinion to have any chance of winning - here’s what Romney adds to a McCain ticket:
wins in MI, MN, OH, TX, CO, perhaps even MA, the Pacific NW and a guaranteed FL win with both of them on the ticket (along with other states McCain will carry anyway)
His economic background will balance McCain’s lack of knowledge there
He’s the best man (most experienced) for the job
Best fundraiser
The Catholic vote
What Mike Huckabee supporters did to Mitt Romney in Iowa and other states is just pure bigotry - he knows that if he wants to run for the Presidency again, that Mitt will stand in his way. Please recall that Mitt still had more delegates than Huckabee even though Mike Huckabee stayed in the primary one full month longer. If he had gotten out in FL, Mitt would be our nominee right now…Sen. McCain backed into the nomination (legally) because of the Romney/Giuliani/Huckabee splitting the vote. The two candidates were Romney and McCain - it’s a shame that we could never see what a head-to head against those two candidates would have resulted in.
Romney is pure class - the way he exited the race - the same can not be said for Mike Huckabee. In 2008, it’s so sad that a national politcian can be so bigoted and get away with it. He says he’s not behind the ad but then added McCain won’t pick him anyway…” Low, low class. Wow - what has our party come to? Our family will only vote for McCain because it’s a vote against the Dems, not a vote for McCain. Romney was a top-notch candidate…..and would be an excellent VP choice.
