I guess we need to be a little more specific when we are serious and when we are kidding. I can’t imagine anyone being serious about women owning property, voting, slavery, any of the past inequality things in this day and time. There are a few trying to get special consideration because they think (perhaps correctly) they or their ancestors were oppressed in the past. That’s over. Bringing it up now serves no constructive purpose. It’s over. - P

Cat and all” Isn’t it interesting when someone doesn’t want to hear what you have to say they will find some way to “shut you out” as you say, or “shut you up”. Being motivated by fear is an awful thing and many many people are just so fearful… They are fearful they may learn something that may cause them to have to change some long held wrong ideas and misconceptions. It is so sad, because many of them would be much happier if they would only humble themselves long enough to learn and accept something new…. God will bless you Cat for trying… thanx to you..

KKSM, awww bless your heart. I don’t get it either with some of these liberals. And trying to debate them can make you nuts!!! Last night I was debating and apparently someone in the room did not want me posting anymore, so they shut me out. I mean I was still in the room, but they use power tools or something, anyway I could not type anything. It can be very annoying. One of the toughest issues for me personally, has been defending my beliefs( Mormon ). All I can do is give facts, and everyone has their own free agency. One guy was totally shocked one time when I told him Steve Young was Mormon. He did not ever bring up Mormons again. ; ) God bless and glad we are here! : ) Cat

Cat, I enjoyed your post very much. I know what it is like having to deal with the liberal crowd of thinkers out there. It can definitely be very daunting. I don’t understand the vitriol and unkindliness. Born out of distress I guess. I just do not understand how they can not know that they are wrong. Some things seem so basic to me and easy to see. I think though that they feel the same way.

I am glad you will come back. I am new to this website but have found great enjoyment and motivation here. I am not even sure who to thank for that so thank you EVERYONE!!! KKSM

Mike, thank you and I accept your apology. I had just been in a very heated debate on my reasons why I’m against Obama and then I read your comment, so I’m sure you can understand my reaction. Sorry you are stressed, I understand that one all to well. My prayers are with you and your family. : ) I love this website, and coming here keeps me grounded if that makes sense. In other words, when I’ve been debating farrrrrrrrrrr out liberals, it can get crazy. Coming here, I know in a sense I’m home : ) Again thank you for your apology. KKSM, thank you also. Look where it’s gotten us now. - P” I assume that Petter was pointing out that now that we let women and African Americans vote, that we have a woman and African American running for president. When he said; ” Gee. I don’t know about that Chauncy. Look where it’s gotten us now.” He was saying that the people on this website don’t want African Americans running for president, and that we don’t want women running for president, just because we like the smaller government from 1776. Cat, I’m very sorry I mentioned your name along with Peter, but I think I was defending you, as a reader of this website, that we are not racest, and that we want women and African Americans to be president. Just not these ones.

I won’t bother you anymore, sorry. I’m really hurt about this though. By the way I am Mormon and have been a staunch supporter of Romney. I come here to read the blogs, and post and keep up with anything new going on, just like I listen to Hannity, etc. I did not know either about the email thing, that people can buy it or sell it? I do want to hear the other side, and I did not mean to be defensive…

Of course we don’t want to go back in history, and I am glad you play the devil’s advocate. I like doing the same thing.

Again, I thought you were spamming the site, or kind of a troll. I don’t pay very good attention to who comments on stuff. I don’t know if you want to hear the excuses, but between the new job, and two kids, I kind of don’t pay good attention to who is saying what, and I assumed you were someone you weren’t.

Your comment, of course, was true. We don’t want to return to all the problems of the past…

Peter said; “Gee. I don’t know about that Chauncy. Look where it’s gotten us now.” as a response to what you said. I took that to be infering that those who wish the government played a smaller role also wanted to only let property holding men vote. That is an accusation that I think you can agree, can make someone freak out, and get pissed off, and not want to talk to anyone ever again, if this is as elevated a debate we are going to have. That comment made me upset. The tone. The oversimplification, and the accusations… No one likes being called racest, for just saying that we have left some of the principals of our founding fathers… I think you can agree that that is what peter was saying…

I’m sorry I took it out on you, if you honestly wanted to treat the people on this site with respect.

thats an old work email I use for websites so I don’t get spammed. I’ll start using a made up gmail account or something if its such a big deal– there is no disclaimer on this site that you won’t sell my email address, so you don’t get it.

I don’t think we’ve ever argued before, Mike. If so, I’ve forgotten it. I’m not here to spam, I’m here to debate. Notice I respond, I don’t just send things and then forget it. And if I were on Obama’s payroll I don’t think the website of a candidate whose been out of the race for months would be a great place to spend their money.

But back to facts, look at his post, he says “Little by little my friend, will we take back the reins of our country to bring it back to 1776 principles!” I was just responding to that. Why are you so sensitive? I have written calm, collected, properly spelled and composed posts, and you have responded with nothing but personal attacks, smarmy sarcasm, and baseless accusations. I have posted in kind on other topics for the last few months, and so far you are the only author to respond in such a manner.

wow, you are really reading into that one. All I was doing was pointing out to someone that not all of our principles in 1776 were necessarily sacred. I wasn’t saying “PAST=BAD”. Past=Past, its there for us to learn from, not to repeat.

I totally agree with what Mitt said, and good post Mike. You put a lot of thought and I’m sure time too, in your posts, thank you. It is My responsibility to teach, guide, etc. my children. And, now that they are all married, I didn’t do so bad ; ) We have enough of the government in our lives. People need to take responsibility. Anyway, your post was great, good topic.
