   Her comment was likely accurate though it is subject to interpretation depending on how each individual would want to take it. It’s a shame we can’t even have a discussion without someone claiming they have been offended. We certainly can’t even attempt to touch certain subjects if we’re trying to be humerus. - P

   Yes its true

   also Hillary is only NY senator because she was married to Bill Clinton. She had zero political experience prior to that, nor was she even a NY resident. She won on pure name recognition.

   Also Romney was only in the race as long as he was because his father was governor of Michigan, getting him his crucial early major primary victory, keeping him in long enough to compete in his other home states, Mass. and Utah. Those 3 were his only primary victories

   Chauncy, not true at all about Gov. Romney. He is the most skilled, talented, and experienced leader among the 20 or so candidates who ran. He literally has 15 times more executive leadership experience than all three of the senators still left in the race. His 3%, 5% losses in the primaries were due in large part to the anti-Mormon, get-out-the vote lobbying done by Huckabee during his many Sunday “sermons” and weekday church visits.

   Allow me to disabuse you of some of these notions with some facts.

   When Romney dropped out after Feb 5th, he had won 11 states AND caucuses to McCain’s 12, but if you count second and third place finishes, he lead McCain 28 to 26 with Huckabee trailing at 22 (most of Hucks finishes were third, or worse).

   Now, I’ve posted on this before. When it’s a primary, people vote because there are other ballot initiatives (like taxes in Florida). Because they haven’t spent any time studying the other issues and the candidates, they vote on autopilot, not thinking, and pulling the lever for name recognition or a Governor’s endorsement (letting someone or something else do their thinking for them). The caucus system, however, favors those who have studied the candidates and their positions, and have the desire to come out and actively participate. In these states where people actually paid attention, Romney cleaned up. So sure, the only primaries he won were where the voters had another reason to pay attention. Everywhere else it was a beauty contest (ahem, I use the term liberally ).

   So those are the facts. When you have the facts, it is hard to spin with a misinformed notion.

   As I read different responses I determine whose opinions have merit. My thanks for those who care enough to educate the rest of us.

   Something I haven’t seen as a reason why Mitt was not as successful in the Southern States as we might have wished. I’m in South Carolina. A dismal failure.

   When I was on the phone banks I got a feeling that most people just didn’t care to study either issues, or the candidates. Two issues that affected Mitt’s campaign here have been noted: 1) the anti-Morman issue, and 2) Huckabee (to include his presence as an Evangelical alternative). There is a third that hasn’t been mentioned.

   If you are a Southern person who doesn’t take the time to study issues or candidates and a “Yankee Governor” runs against a “Baptist Preacher”, you don’t need to study either the issues or the candidates. I think it may be as shallow as that. Sorry.

   There aren’t enough people who know Mitt ……… yet. Next step? - P
